feeling sick thinking about grover frantically playing the pipes up on olympus. annabeth isn't moving. he's sworn to protect her. luke is fighting his friends, and he is sworn to protect him too, but he's already failed. get them back to camp safely. percy is running at luke now (no, no, you can't let luke get hurt). there's annabeth and luke and a child of the big 3 in front of them and percy is going to die because it is prophesied, not by an oracle but on time folding in on itself, because that's what happens when grover guides halfbloods to camp. get them back to camp safely. annabeth and luke are fighting. they aren't supposed to fight. he has to protect all three of them, but that isn't luke, and annabeth isn't 7 anymore, and percy isn't shaking in the rain screaming for his mother anymore, and if he doesn't let this happen there won't BE a camp to get them safely back to, but every instinct in him is screaming to save them, so he keeps playing, throwing branches and vines through the floor of olympus as it crumbles from the fighting, and no matter how much his lungs hurt he needs to push through, because his charges are there, and he has to get them back to camp safely, and--

gymnast soap and coach ghost

ghost retired after an injury, but stayed with the sport because he still had a passion for it. through a lot of negotiation and hardship and everything in between, he ends up becoming soap’s coach at the end of the day

from the start, they work incredibly well together. soap’s form and technique are already great to begin with, but with tweaks and advice and time, they become even better. ghost knows how to spot the smallest discrepancies and knows exactly how to fix them in a way that’s possible, efficient, and effective for soap

when spotting, it’s the same—soap may not always see it, but ghost can tell when intervention is needed before it becomes evident so as to not let soap hurt himself in a way that had led ghost to being forced to quit

though, to lighten things up some days, ghost also likes to just dick around with soap. he knows full well soap’s going to stick a landing on the uneven bars and still slides the mat in his way because it’s funny to watch soap plummet face-first into the foam pit below

in retaliation, soap will wipe chalked-up hands across ghost’s (stupid choice of) black clothing before running away because he knows ghost can’t chase after him with his bum knee

they say it’s the training that makes them such a good team, that helps soap be successful in his own career—but really, it’s moments like that that truly makes their bond so strong. so meaningful

we really glossed over the nosy neighbors way too quickly imo. like, "always watching" in the first season w obvious eldritch interaction??? and martyn won??? and the room is still silent?!?! youre telling me these wet cats went around and stared at people all season, to the point where they desensitized people to them watching, in the game controlled by the watchers, which had the most wild betrayal and subsequent victor of all and nobody, cares???

i am so normal about the fact that the rots primary motif is blue crosses while the motif of ascension is golden crosses the fact that its called "crossing yourself out" when an iterator tries to ascend.. That rot looks like some twisted version of an echo... black and gold and black and blue... That the rot will kill you like you wanted but not in the way you intended. it is not a solution to the problem, it is a horrible horrible thing. Trying to escape the cycle and only dragging yourself deeper into it with a sickness of your own design, a malevolent horrible thing that seeks only to consume and spread and how the void could be similar in a way. rising endlessly and dissolving everything slowly as the world is built back up again by dust. hold on that last bit gave me an idea ill elaborate on in another post. Anyway The similarities between rot and ascension and echoes is so so fascinating to me... im going insane.
