Hunt vs. Hunted AU
(a.k.a. Vampire Wally AU)
Meet the Kardashians—i mean the Pillars
Part 1 || 2 || 3
Character line-up (Oldest to youngest)
So a bit of character Info:
There were more of them, but given the dangers of the monster hunter's profession, theyre the only ones left.
Hannah Pillar
She isn't the actual eldest sibling of the bunch, but among those who are still alive and somewhat sane, she is the oldest. A former mercenary whose main weapons were firearms. She was quite successful in her career but a traumatic incident happened that led to her not being able to weild a gun anymore. She eventually got hired as a desk worker in H.A. (Hunter's Assossiation) mainly handing out missions or intel to monster hunters.
She has a stable relationship with all of her siblings, sometimes the person everyone tells their worries to. She's nutruing and mature, but can also be quite cold and strict when need be. She is also often apathetic to things around her, something that got carried over even after she stopped being a hunter.
Harvey Pillar
Acting second oldest, Harvey is the genius of the group, or so he constantly claims himself to be. There is truth to what he says though since he works as a researcher in H.A. where he gathers information about the various mythical creatures the company had captured. Once, he used to admire this type of work until witnessing a thing or two which led him to be quite nihilistic. He's mainly just in it for the bragging rights and the money now.
Complete drama queen. Heidonistic and arrogant, he can come off as an asshole once he opens his mouth. Hannah keeps him in check most of the time. He does try to act like a big brother but struggles to be sincere about anything because he thinks it's a weakness. Very insecure, easily gets envious, especially of Howdy. For as vocal as he is, he does have many skeletons in his closet.
Howdy Pillar
A very popular hunter that is crowned The Hero of the Century, succeeding his late older brother, Howard Pillar. This is all due to his countless instances of saving people from dangerous monsters, especially feral vampires. Add this and his family background, he was made the H.A.'s face man, appearing in many interviews and posters for the company. He is quite the busy man, and Hannah usually acts as his manager, helping him with his packed schedule.
Howdy is closest with Hannah, but he also enjoys the banters he gets with Harvey. Charismatic and witty, many would think he is a perfect person, the ideal hero. The reality of it though is that Howdy is only in it for the revenge of his deceased siblings. While he smiles and acts relaxed in public, he is otherwise serious and gruff. Doesnt trust easy either. He also doesnt like how the media portrays him and would try to avoid being detected by anybody while he's on the job.
Here's a sketch lol
Honey Pillar
The youngest of the group. She is the black sheep of the family, refusing to associate with H.A. or monster hunting in general, and choosing a career as an actress instead. Despite the controversy that came with this decision, Honey ended up becoming famous because of her alluring personality on the screen.
Aside from Hannah, she despises everyone. She hates Howdy especially because of an instance that lead to her twin sister's death and her loss of 2 arms. She hates Harvey a little less but prefers not talking to him at all. Honey is a drama queen herself, but in a less direct way.
#this will probs be the last post i make for a while#i have to focus on my acads so my activity here will be dead lmao#therare some stuff Ive got planned tho! like a couple animatics ive been dying to finish and show yall#so just expect that :3#in the mean time#see yall after my break lol--#welcome home#welcome home fanart#welcome home oc#welcome home howdy#howdy pillar#welcome home vampire wally au#i might actually change this to a different title bc vampire wally is too common a name lol--#lmao#vampire wally au#welcome home hunt vs. hunted AU

arya and melisandre are really interesting foils to me. i don’t think it ever gets discussed, though. theres not really a lot of overlap between arya fans and team dragonstone fans i guess lol. but arya and melisandre are the only female povs to truly practice sorcery. theres so much to compare and contrast between them. at the start of the series arya is only 9 years old. she is just a child and the youngest female pov. melisandre is much, much older. we don’t even know how old, but she’s been practicing magic “for years beyond count” so...she’s the oldest pov by far.
they're represented by contrasting elements: water and fire. melisandre has a serene aura. arya has a more wild temperament. melisandre is statuesque. arya is petite. both are described as being slender and graceful. they speak several tongues including high valyrian.
While the boy was gone, Melisandre washed herself and changed her robes. Her sleeves were full of hidden pockets, and she checked them carefully as she did every morning to make certain all her powders were in place. (Melisandre, ADWD)
Last of all she threw her cloak across her shoulders. It was a real mummer's cloak, purple wool lined in red silk, with a hood to keep the rain off, and three secret pockets too. She'd hid some coins in one of those, an iron key in another, a blade in the last. (Arya, TWOW)
they’re both fairly unconventional for their gender too. neither could be called a “proper” (ie: submissive) lady. they are driven and dangerous. melisandre comes to be seen as stannis’ “true queen” but she views herself as a knight in her own way. she casts an illusion to look very appealing and yet she’s also deeply intimidating to most. stannis is impressed with melisandre’s ability to inspire fear even in grown men.
“I have ships . . . and I have her. The red woman. Half my knights are afraid even to say her name, did you know? If she can do nothing else, a sorceress who can inspire such dread in grown men is not to be despised. A frightened man is a beaten man. And perhaps she can do more. I mean to find out.” (Davos, ACOK)
Gendry and Hot Pie did not question her choice. She had the map, after all, and Hot Pie seemed almost as terrified of her as of the men who might be coming after them. He had seen the guard she'd killed. It's better if he's scared of me, she told herself. That way he'll do like I say, instead of something stupid. (Arya, ASOS)
arya has a fierce reputation to those who know her but she’s only a small child and vulnerable so most don’t view her as a potential threat. she shares her soul with a ferocious direwolf and aims to embody those traits herself. she is a leader by nature. arya has gotten boys to follow her command despite being younger and a girl.
Melisandre paid the naked steel no mind. If the wildling had meant her harm, she would have seen it in her flames. Danger to her own person was the first thing she had learned to see, back when she was still half a child, a slave girl bound for life to the great red temple. It was still the first thing she looked for whenever she gazed into a fire. (ADWD)
relatively speaking, we don’t know a lot about melisandre, but we do know she was a slave at one point and likely from humble origins. she has devoted her life in service to r’hllor. whatever connected her to her old life is a distant memory.
“We are but servants of the God of Many Faces." "Valar dohaeris." All men must serve. "You know the words, but you are too proud to serve. A servant must be humble and obedient." "I obey. I can be humbler than anyone." (Arya, ADWD)
arya has been enslaved too, but she was born the daughter of a great lord and lady. as her house has fallen arya is driven across the narrow sea to the temple of the many faced god. she is trying to be a servant of god, but the results are mixed. arya has a lot of previous allegiances because of her place in the world. she will not be able to make the sacrifice in the end.
"A shadow is a thing of darkness." "You are more ignorant than a child, ser knight. There are no shadows in the dark. Shadows are the servants of light, the children of fire. The brightest flame casts the darkest shadows." (Davos, ACOK)
"All gods have their instruments, men and women who serve them and help to work their will on earth. “ (Arya, AFFC)
both of their storylines are deeply involved with religion. arya is in religious training currently and she has significant interactions with all the major religions in asoiaf. arya is tolerant and curious. even if she is a bit skeptical of the gods in general. the gods she truly follows of the old gods of the north.
Through the leafy canopy she could see the bone-white branches of the heart tree. It looks just like the one in Winterfell from here. If only it had been . . . then when she climbed down she would have been home again, and maybe find her father sitting under the weirwood where he always sat. (Arya, ACOK)
for a character who hasn’t stepped foot in the north since her first chapter weirwoods are an important symbol in arya’s storyline. they represent her faith and culture, her identity and her family, her past and her future. they show up in every book for her in one form or another.
The weirwood was the heart of Winterfell, Lord Eddard always said . . . but to save the castle Jon would have to tear that heart up by its ancient roots, and feed it to the red woman's hungry fire god. I have no right, he thought. Winterfell belongs to the old gods. (Jon, ASOS)
melisandre would have burned the weirwood at winterfell if jon had accepted stannis’ offer to become jon stark, lord of winterfell. that’s why he rejected it.
The red woman walked round the fire three times, praying once in the speech of Asshai, once in High Valyrian, and once in the Common Tongue. Davos understood only the last. "R'hllor, come to us in our darkness," she called. "Lord of Light, we offer you these false gods, these seven who are one, and him the enemy. Take them and cast your light upon us, for the night is dark and full of terrors." (Davos, ACOK)
melisandre is not tolerant or curious. she views any religion that is not r’hllor as false. arya is familiar with r’hllor too. she has seen men rise from the dead before. she knows thoros of myr another red priest who receives visions too.
Soon she could even feel the heat in the air, as red R'hllor's worshipers lifted their voices in prayer. "For the night is dark and full of terrors," they prayed. Not for me. Her nights were bathed in moonlight and filled with the songs of her pack, with the taste of red meat torn off the bone, with the warm familiar smells of her grey cousins. Only during the days was she alone and blind. (Arya, ADWD)
a major factor in this faith is fear of death and darkness. that is what melisandre preaches. she is terrified of the dark and won’t even let the lights go out in her chambers. which i think is a fascinating character trait for a character as old as her. fear of the dark is a trait associated with children. but arya, the child, learns early on to not fear the darkness.
She had no time for sleep, with the weight of the world upon her shoulders. And she feared to dream. Sleep is a little death, dreams the whisperings of the Other, who would drag us all into his eternal night. (Melisandre, ADWD)
mel is afraid to dream and rarely sleeps because of it. she associates both with the great other.
Some mornings Arya did not want to wake at all. She would huddle beneath her cloak with her eyes squeezed shut and try to will herself back to sleep. If the Hound would only have left her alone, she would have slept all day and all night. And dreamed. That was the best part, the dreaming. She dreamed of wolves most every night. A great pack of wolves, with her at the head. (Arya, ASOS)
even if she sometimes struggles with nightmares(/depression) dreams have been a great source of comfort for arya more often than not.
“The night is dark and full of terrors, the day bright and beautiful and full of hope. One is black, the other white. There is ice and there is fire. Hate and love. Bitter and sweet. Male and female. Pain and pleasure. Winter and summer. Evil and good." She took a step toward him. "Death and life. Everywhere, opposites. Everywhere, the war." (Davos, ASOS)
the stance that melisandre takes is somewhat extreme. she subscribes to a completely black and white morality. melisandre's entire mission is to fight against death. she has done a better job than most. but even melisandre the red priestess of asshai cannot escape death forever.
The kindly man chuckled. "He is a man like any other, with light in him and darkness. It is not for you to judge him." That gave her pause. "Have the gods judged him?" (Arya, ADWD)
the faceless men are, obviously, a problematic institution, but they are teaching arya valuable lessons. the order is represented by the colors black and white - but they’re not at war. they are in balance. imo, this is going to be the outcome of the war to come. you cannot beat death. the faceless men are right when they say “valar morghulis”
"You are safe here. This is the House of Black and White, my child. Though you are young to seek the favor of the Many-Faced God." "Is he like the southron god, the one with seven faces?" "Seven? No. He has faces beyond count, little one, as many faces as there are stars in the sky. In Braavos, men worship as they will . . . but at the end of every road stands Him of Many Faces, waiting. He will be there for you one day, do not fear. You need not rush to his embrace." (Arya, AFFC)
the hob&w, according to the kindly man, is “a place of peace” where death is “not the worst thing” and “always gentle”. the many faced god is the god of death and is therefore, likely, the great other from an entirely different perspective. death, despair, darkness are all parts of the human experience. they are often painful and scary, but everyone has to face them.
Jon Snow turned to Melisandre. "What sorcery is this?" "Call it what you will. Glamor, seeming, illusion. R'hllor is Lord of Light, Jon Snow, and it is given to his servants to weave with it, as others weave with thread." [...] She made it sound a simple thing, and easy. They need never know how difficult it had been, or how much it had cost her. That was a lesson Melisandre had learned long before Asshai; the more effortless the sorcery appears, the more men fear the sorcerer. (Melisandre, ADWD)
"This will hurt," he warned her, "but pain is the price of power. Do not move." "Mummers change their faces with artifice," the kindly man was saying, "and sorcerers use glamors, weaving light and shadow and desire to make illusions that trick the eye. These arts you shall learn, but what we do here goes deeper. Wise men can see through artifice, and glamors dissolve before sharp eyes, but the face you are about to don will be as true and solid as that face you were born with."
She probed around inside her mouth with her tongue, but found no holes or broken teeth. Sorcery, she thought. I have a new face. An ugly, broken face. (Arya, ADWD)
they might be on opposing teams but the skills they use have quite a bit of overlap. both utilize sorcery and bloodmagic. these are difficult, costly, painful things to learn. melisandre is a very impressive sorceress because she’s studied her craft for so long. she is able to work several glamors at once. she’s also able to do her whole shadow baby assassin thing.
if arya stuck around with the faceless men long enough she would learn glamor too. it’s not the faceless men’s trademark, though. they use bloodmagic from valyria to create disguises that cannot be seen through using the faces of the dead. arya’s been trained and has a sharp eye to begin with. i think if her and melisandre met arya would be able to see past her glamor which would be a really cool perspective.
"The heart is all that matters. Do not despair, Lord Snow. Despair is a weapon of the enemy, whose name may not be spoken. Your sister is not lost to you." "I have no sister." The words were knives. What do you know of my heart, priestess? What do you know of my sister? Melisandre seemed amused. "What is her name, this little sister that you do not have?" "Arya." His voice was hoarse. "My half-sister, truly …" (Jon, ADWD)
“I told you that the Lord of Light would hear your prayers. You wanted a way to save your little sister and still hold fast to the honor that means so much to you, to the vows you swore before your wooden god." She pointed with a pale finger. "There he stands, Lord Snow. Arya's deliverance. A gift from the Lord of Light … and me." (Melisandre, ADWD)
arya is completely unaware of melisandre’s existence, but the opposite is not true. melisandre has become an important figure on the wall. she is the one who comes up with the idea to send mance south to rescue “arya”. it seems melisandre is going to become a valuable ally to jon snow (she’s gonna bring his ass back to life lbr) and in the fight against the others.
The king would only want to marry [Arya] to one of his own men, Horpe or Massey or Godry Giantslayer, and the gods alone knew what use the red woman might want to make of her. (Jon, ADWD)
it’s likely her and arya will cross paths at some point. it’s one of the meetings i’d be most excited to see.
#asoiaf nonsense#this has been in my drafts#for a long ass time#i just reread it and was like damn this is good lol

Royal Family of House of Lenz-Aurgelmir
(Artist La_Maryd13)
An art I commission from Maryd13, from my AU Elduschland, which, ironically, this pic is also an AU of Elduschland. (Liberio Treaty AU: Queen Historia and Ymir went to Liberio, along allied delegates, to propose a peace treaty between them and Marley and manages to get it sign). In the Liberio Treaty AU, Historia and Ymir's daughter will be grown-up -they're still teenagers in this pic- and will be living during the time of Titans.
Here are their daughters' name and lore.
Frieda (15). The oldest, and therefore, the Crown Princess, and first in line for the throne. Being very devoted to her duties and is a service woman of the Scout Regiment (it's supposed to have a different name). She is a Hrailgner, meaning she wields one of the 9 (?) Titan with specific power and proper name, an elnar-class (15 meter) called Fenrir. She, like Ymir, Eren, and Zeke, is immune to the Curse.
Hannah (14). Second youngest daughter and twin sister to Wilhelm, she is in the military academy-a prestige one- and training to be a fighter pilot (ignore the sigil on her uniform). She's enthusiastic, easygoing and laid back, charismatic, and once she got older, a know player. She even earned a soubriquet, The Conquerer, and got into a polyamory (a man and a woman; she's bi) in her squad.
Wilhelm ( 14). Their only son and Hannah twin brother, Wilhelm is actually a trans man (well, transboy) and is in the military academy along with his sister. Unlike Hannah, Wilhelm joined the navy (again, ignore the sigil) once he's graduated, serving aboard a destroyer, and then a battlecruiser. There's a joke amongst the military and noble that Wilhelm is Historia and Ymir's least favorite children since they forced more on their Air Force than the Navy (oof). Wilhelm is the opposite of Hannah: more serious, stoic, and disciplined. While Hannah is bi, Wilhelm is gay.
Estrella (13). Their third daughter, Estrella has huge self-esteem issue: with having so many siblings (and the issue with their youngest sister), Historia and Ymir didn't pay as much attention to her, giving Estrella's huge mommy issue. Instead of joining a military academy, she becomes a socialite and romancing with Connie and Nkiruka's (nicknamed Kiki; my ofc) biracial son.
Marcille (11; I just realized other than Marcille, all four children were named after someone. Weird). The youngest of all the siblings, Marcille (or her nickname Marcy; yeah, i based her on Marcy Wu lol) is energetic, intelligent, and a mommy girl. Yet she is also easily distracted (she once went missing for almost a day while hiking with her siblings because something caught her attention), oblivious, and occasionally vocally muted. She has hyperfixation on amphibians, especially newts. The reason is that she has autism and Historia gives her the most attention, much to Estrella chagrin.
Ymir is the father to all five children. If you wondering how she's, is from both the Shawl Theory and this exchange:
Ymir: Eren, I need you to use your founding power to help me and historia to have children.
Eren: Sure, here's a penis.
Ymir: ... not exactly what I have in mind but I take it!

Have you watched Avatar The Last Airbender? If so, I'm curious what kind of bending you think the characters from Avatar (Blue one) would have in this universe!
omg I LOVE thinking about an avatar avatar AU (avatar squared lol) I'm so glad I got this question!
So I know some people like to base the elements off of personality when making an ATLA AU, but I want to go by tribe so-
Sky People/Avatars/Recoms= fire nation
Omaticaya= Air Nomads, except they bond with wind dragons instead of sky bison and they aren't pacifists
Metkayina= Water tribe, but tropical instead of arctic
so Jake was a firebender soldier for the Fire Nation tasked with removing a group of Air Nomads from their ancestral home so the Fire Nation could build a mine. One day, he gets separated from his squad and lost in the forest where he's attacked by a sabertooth moose lion. The moose lion is about to kill him when all of a sudden Jake earthbends and escapes the moose lion. Jake is confused by his newfound ability to earthbend and little does he know he was being watched by an airbending huntress, Neytiri, the entire time. Neytiri brings Jake to the giant tree where her people live and announces she's found the Avatar (cue theme music). The Omaticaya are wary of Jake, but Mo'at checks him out and realizes he is in fact the Avatar and announces it is their duty to teach Jake how to airbend, fire nation soldier or not, and appoints Neytiri as his teacher. Jake goes along with the teaching, because, hey, new element, but he still feels loyal to the Fire Nation.
The story progresses just like A1, with Jake going back and forth on what to do until the Colonel Quaritch, leads a group of firebending soldiers in airships in a devastating attack on the Airbenders. This pushes Jake to turn against the Fire Nation and embrace his role as the Avatar. He's joined by a few nonbender Fire Nation citizens who are sympathetic to the cause, like Grace, Norm, Max, and Trudy. While defecting, Quaritch fatally wounds Grace and the airbenders ask the spirits to save her. Grace falls into a coma, and later they discover she is pregnant. Colonel Quaritch targets a sacred tree which acts as a portal to the spirit world with the intention of doing some Zhao-The-Moon-Slayer nonsense that he believes will help the Fire Nation. Jake, with a mighty red wind dragon, leads the Airbenders in a counterattack and successfully defeats the Fire Nation and Colonel Quaritch gets dragged into the portal by a vengeful nature spirit.
Years pass, and together, Jake and Neytiri raise their family. The oldest, Neteyam, is their pride and joy, an airbending prodigy who became the youngest person to ever earn his airbending tattoos. He is also very skilled with the bow, like his mother. Jake and Neytiri also adopted Kiri, the baby born from Grace (who passed away shortly after she was born) whose father is unknown. Despite Grace being a nonbending Fire Nation woman, Kiri is an airbender. She's not the most talented bender, but she has a very strong connection to the spirit world (like Jinora). Their second son, Lo'ak, is a firebender like Jake, and he secretly wishes he was an airbender like the rest of his family. Because of his upbringing, Lo'ak has a very unique firebending technique that is heavily influenced by airbending: it's very acrobatic and involves using fire jets to let him jump around. Their youngest is Tuk, a bubbly, energetic little airbender. She loves to ride around on air scooters and befriend wild animals. And of course, there's also Spider, a nonbender war orphan of unclear parentage who became best friends with their children. Though Spider isn't a bender, he's heavily influenced by being surrounded by airbenders just like Lo'ak, and he can run and jump around so agilely he almost looks like he's airbending.
As the years pass, Mo'at encourages Jake to continue on his journey to become a fully realized Avatar, especially since she fears the Fire Nation will strike back some day. Jake, who has only mastered fire and air at this point, keeps brushing it off until it's too late.
Quaritch somehow returns from the spirit world, younger, healthier, and angrier than every before. He also now has blue fire! When he miraculously returns to the Fire Nation, he wants his wealth and status back, but General Ardmore tells him he needs to capture the Avatar to restore his honor, so Quaritch gladly assembles a team of elite nonbending soldiers to hunt him down.
Quaritch manages to capture Spider, prompting Jake and his family to flee to the tropical Water Tribe so Jake can finally start learning waterbending. The water tribe are wary of Kiri, who looks very Fire Nation despite being an airbender, and Lo'ak, who looks more like his mother but actually is a firebender, but Jake reminds them that he's Fire Nation himself, and as the Avatar, they have a responsibility to teach him. Tonowari agrees to become Jake's waterbending master and allow his family to stay with him.
Then ensues the teenage bullying and shenanigans, and Lo'ak befriends a Unagi named Payakan. He also falls for Tsireya:
"I'm a Firebender! That's all they see 😡😡😡"
"I see you 🥺🥺🥺"
Meanwhile, Quaritch realizes that Spider is the son of one of his old concubines, making him his heir and the only family he has left, which gives him very conflicting feelings about Ardmore torturing him for information on the Avatar. Almost dying and getting lost in the Spirit World made him realize he doesn't have a legacy to leave behind. Quaritch frees Spider and then Spider challenges Quaritch to an Agni Kai, demanding that if he wins he'll be set free but if he loses he'll cooperate with Quaritch. Quaritch points out that Spider isn't a bender, but Spider grabs the equivalent of a flame thrower from one of his soldiers and yells "I said, Agni Kai, bitch!"
The battle results in half the arena being burnt down, but Quaritch wins in the end and Spider reluctantly agrees to be his translator (the nations speak different languages in this AU and spider knows air language and water language).
and then yadda yadda yadda, Jake masters waterbending, Quaritch somehow figures out where Jake is, grabs his kids, they have a big epic battle on a Fire Nation ship, Neteyam dies, Quaritch nearly drowns but is rescued by Spider, and then everyone goes home the end.

Hello salad omg!! Can i please request a drabble about cg house 💜
Caregiver House? More likely than you think. Also this was a "drabble" and then the words kept coming out, so it's a little longer now. As is the way of the world lol
-----
"Alright, kiddies! Come and get it!"
Never in a million years did House think that he would end up where he was today. Four days before Christmas in the apartment he shared with Wilson, tree up and decorated with presents underneath, and his employees over for a Christmas party. Not to drink or make stupid, HR-violating decisions, but to have a playdate, decorate gingerbread houses, and exchange gifts.
Chase, Cameron, and Foreman all clambered for a seat at the table in front of a package of pre-cut gingerbread, each with their own bag of crappy royal icing so there wouldn't be any arguments about sharing, around a reservoir of candy bowls in the middle.
"Remember, we're going to share all the candy equally." Wilson said, sitting in front of his own gingerbread man. "No hogging."
"We won't!" The duckings answered in a disjoined chorus, even though they were definitely going to need to give more reminders later when all the good candy started to disappear.
House worked away at his gingerbread man slowly, using icing and red candy to riddle the poor ginger fellow with gore. While he and Wilson had bought a house kit for each of the ducklings, they both agreed to stick with a package of gingerbread men for themselves, because the stuff barely qualified as food. Thankfully, children, even qualified doctor children, didn't seem to mind eating sweetened drywall.
The houses were coming along as expected, with increasing levels of struggle and detail according to the designer. Chase's house, who was regressed the youngest of the three, had messy globs of icing loosely binding the walls together and candy haphazardly scattered around. Nothing particularly artistic going on, but he seemed to be enjoying himself. Cameron had a style going on hers. House wasn't exactly sure what that style was, but every piece of candy looked like it was being placed with great intention, and she kept sticking her tongue out while she was adding the details. Foreman, the oldest and ever the keener, was adding tiny, wobbly shingles to his roof with intense focus. The other two had made fun of him earlier for being the last to start decorating, but the walls of his gingerbread house were the most stable of the three, and his walls hadn't collapsed even once.
The whole scene, sitting around the table decorating gingerbread, helping Chase when the walls of his creation collapsed for the third time, reminding them to share the green M&M's, praising Cameron's ugly gingerbread people, it all felt sickeningly domestic. He knew Wilson, the sentimental bastard, felt the same way, because he kept giving him these looks across the table whenever he gave one of the ducklings a thumbs-up or held their gingerbread for them to help the icing stick. He just knew that Wilson was picturing them as this weird little family celebrating Christmas together, and maybe they were, but he should have felt out of place in that picture. He was the pissed-off, pill-popping, asshole doctor. No one would think twice if he spent Christmas alone, wallowing in his own misery. Instead, he was roleplaying gay-dads with Wilson and coordinating upcoming holiday plans. And it was nice. This was nice.
He could get used to it.

Oh, gosh. It’s honestly kind of disturbing how quickly violent some people are getting over Vicious.
Like I want to see her be punished for her actions and to me, she already has- she was disowned by her oldest daughter with her youngest daughter leaving with the oldest. Even Clever calling her out is enough.
Yet, I also feel sorry for her- I don’t like her but I want to see her get out of the situation Jasper has her in; Jasper took advantage of her weakest traits and twisted his control into him ‘loving’ her. She kind of isolated herself when Merry joined the pride since she didn’t like him so Jasper targeted her and made her feel like she was special enough to be given his love as well as be his queen. Which is disturbing enough- wanting her to be punished by having her getting killed, especially by the one who abused her is just really cruel.
Vicious still represents an abuse victim, shows what the cycle of abuse is, and the story is well written to have that acknowledged as well as not letting it have her actions justified or excused. Like that one Anon said- the sisters seem to be represent different types of abuse victims.
To be basic- people need to chill.
Yeah exactly. I mean, if it's not people wishing death on Vicious, it's people asking if Careful and Clever could've tagged team'd her and kicked her ass instead of... blaming the person who abused her? lol
It's just not how familial ties work. You don't conclude that the best solution to your sister being in an abusive relationship is to order a hit on her or cave her face in.
And also yes to the whole part where it's possible to feel bad for her and not excuse her actions. Well put. c: - RJ

i don't even remember when i finished them i think several weeks ago but.
meet the Mayday twins // my Veroval fankids
they are both adults! tho im pretty bad at drawing characters that look older that idk maybe 16-17 no matter how i try lol
idk how old they are in hellish years but basically like... 24+,y.o. adults kind of age range
Scarlette Mayday (the youngest twin) — is a pretty hyperactive and cheerful person. They (really) enjoy music, growing wild plants and changing their mind frequently. Like, changing their mind is their passion. Scarlette, unlike Verosika, is pretty chill with break ups and changing relationships (even settled ones), which Verosika is (maybe strangely) very proud of.
Her friends and family would most likely describe Scarlette as a "sweetheart", as she's usually kind and supportive, but when needed, they can show their sharp nature and act like a real meanie.
She does have some "super cool demon powers" as she says. The most important of her abilities is the flexibility of her body and arms. She's an excellent dancer — in any genre, if you ask — and her dancing, besides being mesmerizing, can literally hypnotize, which she often takes advantage of when she wants a one-night stand or something.
Some of her ex partners will say that she is a monster, some will say that they have never seen such support after such a rough breakup (she is a therapist for those who have had their hearts broken by her), and some will say that their relationships with her were the best of their lives.
Scarlett is not looking for and is unlikely to be looking for a long-term partner. Many of their former partners remain their close friends.
If you ask, yes, she was named Scarlette instead of Scarlet just because Velevette wanted her to be more like herself.
Scarlet is faeflux and abrosexual.
She has a tendency to munch on lots of delicious food and frankly, she's proud of it.
Sage Mayday (the oldest twin) — is the complete opposite of their sibling. Although reserved and not particularly sociable, under the right circumstances Sage still makes contact with others quite easily — their nature doesn't allow otherwise. But he does not intentionally seek contact and relationships with others.
Sage wasn't always like this. As his sibling would say, he "hadn't ever outgrown his teenage phase". However, the restraint and resilience in their character allows Sage to make rather cold-blooded but important decisions when needed.
Sage rarely uses his ability, but he is easily able to materialize any objects or creatures from sketches he draws. They have a pet, which, though no one has ever seen (not even his own sister), that Sage created himself. They describe it as "an entity similar to an Earth cat, with three pairs of paws and three pairs of eyes, a fox tail and parrot-like wings hidden under a ton of fur".
They may have a few murders under their belt that their parents don't know about, but it's hard to count the exact number because some of them were committed not by Sage himself, but by his creatures.
Sage is demi-rose (demiace + demiaro), androgyne and omniflux.
They're not very skilled romantically, tho they assume that in a relationship they'd have been an amazing partner (at least that what their mums tell them).
Although Sage can basically find anyone attractive at some point, he's really into transgender girls in particular.
There can be disagreements between the two twins and the ongoing battle for parental attention from childhood (the usual sibling stuff), but they are still each other's main support. Even though it's hard to hurt both of them — Scarlett doesn't care much for anyone's opinion, and Sage often doesn't take anyone he doesn't know well seriously — if it can be done.... One can only sympathize, because they can and will gnaw for each other (perhaps even literally)
There are no favourite kids in this household, too! So Velvette and Verosika both found their quarrels on that matter silly from the beginning.
im pretty bad at creating OCs imo (especially at creating fankids) but yeah i hope this doesn't look as messy as it seems to me
sorry if there's any typos i've got no sleep

Oh hey I hope you don’t mind me asking, this is purely out of curiosity but if you had to picture other duopath runs which characters would you pick and why? :)
Therion & Tressa are such a good combo I’m curious about which other traveler combinations would work well
hm thinking about which ones would be fun…. i think i can think of some that’d be fun
ship ones obvi would be funny, so alfyn/therion Primrose/Haanit, Olberic/Cyrus etc, also i think all of those combos are pretty good and can cover each other, i think Alfyn/Therion probably has the easiest time of it (due to access to steal for equipment and then concoct is just really good) and olberic/cyrus probably has the hardest time of it? i think thats purely because cyrus is frail and might take some investment to make sure he’s not dying every 2 seconds. then again, olberic as a duo is pretty good since he always has incite access. basically cyrus needs saving grace asap i think
Prim/haanit i think mayyybe more middle of the road? you do always get sealticge but its more of a whole thing with just two party members instead of 4, but haanit can hit the big damage and having dancer prim she’s probably easier to minmax damage potential on since you can lion dance her etc… if you run one of them as thief you can probably do some kind of armor corrosive lion dance setup and let haanit just hit the double digit thousands
i think one of the things that would be difficult about both haanit/prim and olberic/cyrus is definitely the lack of path action to acquire npc items, you get literally soooooo much shit out of it it’s super helpful lol.
other ones i think would be fun
Alfyn/Ophilia: healerpath run. while you won’t have to rely on item healing (like i did for the majority of duopath), i think this one would be a fun like, find your damage method one. plus, these two are the ones who usually sit back as supports (at least in their base class roles), but push when push comes to shove- sorry you guys gotta do all the hard work of killing these guys on top of the healing. also the stretch between their ch3s and ch4s would be miserable for them sorry you two
Therion/Primrose: the two traumatized ones with loner streaks, that’s right we’re putting bff bracelets on you and forcing you to work together. i think these two have a kind of kinship friendship that they don’t quite share with any of the others, so they get along quite well, even though i think i’d find it hard to stick them together permanently without the glue of the rest of the party. but as a duopath, i think they could still be pretty fun, and i want primrose to have some help stabbing those guys. gameplay wise, having therion would be a huge benefit for path action reasons, plus thief is like. imo one of the best subclasses paired with anything so i think any duopath he’s in gets some added benefit.
Olberic/Tressa: i always liked their dynamic, as the oldest member and the youngest member they might have an almost parental kind of relationship, and something abt tressa’s plucky enthusiasm and Olberics more stoic, seasoned nature is always fun to me. Tressa is another items-getter path action (though slightly less good than steal, you’ll likely rack up enough money grinding that prices are trivial) which is a help, and merchant is extremely good in duopath due to hired help being one of the best damage options for any character who might not be able to set up huge numbers. olberic however, can set up huge numbers, which means that i think this duo would be super duper set in the damage department.
ophilia/cyrus: i think this is the one i’d do if i really wanted pain, because these two have no hp and will die. this is like, the challenge mode option, because one of the things about duopath is you’re going to be taking a lot of damage on your two characters where you would have that spread across your party. so this duo would require some interesting strategizing to raise those hp stats, figure out how to tank, and then, on top of that, how to dish out the big numbers. while magic is *good* ive always found that when you’re trying to hit big on breaks, you’re better off going for brand or aeber big hits. as well, you get no items path action to work with for them. as for the dynamic, they’re both friendly and agreeable so i think there’d be not much conflict between them, but i think you could have some fun especially by the end if they start to draw the galdera connections between them…
#i have a lot of thoughts ig lol.#i thibk i was gonna duopath again id go for a playthrough of 2 just to mix it up#but tbh i’m not opposed to trying another playthrough like this of 1 bc it was really fun and challenging#also. if anyone out there is thinking of doing this.#therion i think is legit the best character to have like actually extremely useful. so maybe put him with whoever you want#if you want to jump into the deep end#honestly thinking on difficulty#maybe some combination of ophilia/cyrus/prim might be the hardest?#cyrus is more frail but hits harder#prim is super support so might have trouble damaging#and cleric as a class is mainly useful for reflect bc item healing is really good up until pretty much the end#so. some combo of the three of them would be difficult runs i think#TT duopath

hwhhehehehehehhehwhw guess who has another redacted next gen oc to shareeeee :D This time, it's William's daughter!! Exciting stuff Rest below the cut so I don't spam anyone's dashes
- Her full name is Emilia (aka Emma / Emily) Solaire
- She is William's only child, and heir to his throne, as Alexis has shown disinterest in ruling and Vincent has split from the clan
- I'm not sure who here remembers, but the fandom once had made up a listener name for William's 'listener' (he doesn't and may not ever have one, but we all thought that it would be cute to make one), who was unempowered, and that's sort of who I think her other parent would be, though this current rendition of her doesn't have as strong a connection to her other parent
- Unlike the other vampire children, she was not turned by her own blood when she accessed her core at puberty, but was instead born vampiric, due to her dad's Old Blood status (the turned by own blood thing was made up by me and is not canon, vampires prob cant even reproduce in canon lmao)
- So; imagine a toddler running at vampiric speed into the most dangerous part of your backyard. This is how William feels. He should be thankful he's an old blood and can keep up lmao
- I imagine William being a somewhat good parent, but I also think he wouldn't be up to speed, and would raise his children in a more old-timey fashion (he wouldn't beat his kids at all though because I say so), which means Emilia is very,, old soul seeming. Would fit in with the bingo ladies /j (she is a littleee bit modern but doesn't have a lot of tech and is out of the loop, acts a lot different to those her age, sort of distant? learned from William how best to be regal and stuff, so she's diplomatic)
- She has a very difficult time making friends because she had vampiric status since birth, and is not able to make friends with kids her own age easily (I mean, think about trying to introduce your vampiric 8-year-old to a normal 8-year-old.. thats scary as shit)
- She's the youngest out of all the Solaire kids, being two years younger than Adrian (the oldest) and one year younger than Vivienne (not Solaire, but associated)
- She's hella bossy because she's always had high status and has a difficult time seeing others as equals because she's literally never been at their level.. Portia (Porter's kid) and Adrian (Alexis's son) are her personal guards, and she makes them entertain her
- Portia is much less afraid to speak her mind, and does so regularly, to the point that Emilia reprimands her for saying treasonous things, lol, much to the chagrin and fear of Adrian, who has been taught to revere those in higher levels of the hierarchy than him, and begrudgingly goes along with all of Emilia's orders
- Emilia also has a hard time seeing mortals as important, or at all on par with herself, as she's always been immortal, vampiric, and she sees her and her typical peers (all vampires) as eternal, or at least veryyyy long-lasting, and simply views mortals as a blip in her likely long life. She grows out of this, with Samuel's (Sam and Darlin's kid) help, as he is part mortal, and helps her see the importance and power of mortals via the Shaw Pack, who is still aligned with the clan in the future (in my mind at least) though she's always still a bit high-and-mighty
Now onto the interesting plot for her personal storyline :3
- Once she reaches ~18, she decides she wants the throne, and conspires to overthrow her father. She recruits her guards and outside players to help her, so there's herself, Portia, Adrian, Samuel Jr., and Vivienne.
- Samuel only agreed because she promised that, if she came into power, she would ensure the safety of the Shaw Pack by devoting some of her people to protect them, instead of just using the reach of her power to imply protection (cough cough William), and yk, she certainly knows how to get Samuel under her thumb because it immediately worked lmao
- Vivienne agreed because Samuel did, and she harbours more loyalty to the Solaire House than she would generally let on, secretly desiring a place among vampiric peers, having been denied that since her turning.
- So, their plan goes as such; (let me clarify they are totally underestimating him and are overconfident lmao) - Samuel will take out Porter early, to prevent interference - Alexis will not be around on the day they plan to execute this, so she isn't factored in - They will catch William while he's doing his usual walk through the woods in his remote estate, when he is unlikely to have a way of contacting help with him, and is too far away from Dahlia to escape to safety - Samuel will be the first to attack, given his general magical prowess, granting him an advantage in distracting William, and a better chance to evade initial parries. He also has a source of daemon / demon blood, and will coat the edge of his sword in it, which will severely weaken William - Adrian and Portia will come up next, them and Samuel forming a triangle to contain William in the area, slowly weathering down his defenses - Vivienne will be taking her time throughout this to charge up a strong burst of electro magic, and will wait until the perfect opening to unleash it directly on him, hopefully immobilizing him, given that he already has da/emon blood in his system. - Then, they will surround him, and Emilia will come up, manipulating blood magic to keep him disadvantaged (since I hc William has formed the ability to control Solaire blood, and his daughter has also learned to do so) - Then, she politely asks for the crown, and should he refuse, they kill him (atp, if everything goes right, he will be severelyyy weakened by the da/emon blood and the lightening strike, making this somewhat possible) - Bam! Throne is taken easy as pie There's multiple possible endings;
1. She gets the crown without fuss because William doesn't mind granting it to her (after he's been defeated)
2. He gives them a run for their money but eventually agrees, but is not defeated at any point
3. They somehow manage to kill him, and she ascends to the throne with blood on her hands
4. He defeats them, and imprisons all of them, granting mercy but insisting on rehabilitation of some kind
5. He defeats all of them and is not merciful, only sparing Emilia and possibly Vivienne (given she's the least dangerous and not in the clan), he's a bit biased lol Number 5 is unlikely, 2 and 4 are most probable (depending on how well things go) Taglist: @vegafan69 @darlin-collins @kxemii @professionallyyappin @sereh624

EMO TREAT AU MASTERPOST
SPOILERS FOR ALTERNATE ENDING
Essentially... What if Treat was EMO?
Specifically, what if she had stayed with her pack instead of leaving?
That's pretty much what this AU is about! Me and some friends came up with it for fun and it just kept growing lol
It takes a couple of liberties to make some things work though so it can be a bit silly!! xP
How it goes
Rather than Tundra, Timber is the current pack leader and they are both much older. Treat's parents failed to seperate from their pack, Glaze, and Treat suffered the repercussions by Timber using her as an example to her parents.
Treat eventually grows up under Timber, as he teaches her his way of acquiring food for their pack, good food. She struggles, but is forced to swallow it down for the sake of the pack. She distances herself from most everyone, aside from Timber as he is her mentor, and only really bothers with others out of necessity. Lacking empathy and becoming emotionally stunted due to her childhood makes her a near 180 to regular Treat.
Here's how she looks like!!
The way I see it, she dyes her hair with charcoal from fires to represent her deep turmoil!!!! or something like that, I can't think of a reason why outside of "my heart is a deep and vast void"
How are other characters/the world affected?
Starting from the pack members...
Cotton & Candy: There's not much to say, but after getting caught trying to leave the pack they haven't had much to do with everyone. Treat only really comes over to sleep and avoids them, because she somewhat blames them for what happened to her.
Timber: Pack leader and mentor of Treat. He didn't want to have to hurt Treat, but her parents took it too far trying not only to take their daughter with her, but Powder & Fennel too. He took her under his wing so she wouldn't get influenced by her parents anymore and decided to take the opportunity to teach her to be the next generation pack leader... Though no one but his mother knows that yet.
Fennel: She still has a giant crush on Treat, and is the only one that actively goes out of her way to hang out with her! Treat thinks she's a nuisance, but slowly entertains Fennel as she grows curious as to why she keeps trying to get close to her.
Other characters such as Powder and Tundra aren't really all that developed, so feel free to think up something for them!!!
The pack members don't just end there either...
I made up some characters for the AU aswell!! woohoo!!!!
They're in a small little fic I made on Mochi meeting Treat in this AU, but I want to do more with them!! The descriptions will be short though since there's not much with them yet.
Cocoa: The oldest, and the only one in his human form. He's playful, carefree, loves poking fun whenever he can.
Mallow: The middle child. His fur is dark gray and he's the strongest out of the three. He's boisterous, a bit stubborn, and competitive.
Creme: The youngest child. Her fur is white and is sarcastic, confident, a bit self-absorbed. She's also very prissy which annoys her older brothers.
Stuff they all have in common are also sharing admiration for Treat, despite always getting caught causing trouble by her, and the three of them are very close knit.
Characters outside the pack
Moxie: Unlike in the canon, she has lost her confidence due to being forced back to be with her mother in ginseng, following the loss of the Foxy Den. She eventually ran away from her and now hopes to learn how to survive in the wilderness by stalking the wolves around, including Treat.
here's a little concept sketch of her!!
she's pretty dinged up :(
Mochi: Due to Treat never having left Glaze, she never arrived in Frosting to live in the cabin and save Mochi from Moxie. She ends up fearing predators a bit more due to this, and is usually escorted by Juju outside. However, she still wishes to slowly start being more independent again. Overall though, there isn't much changed with her! (including her design)
Trick: Treat's parents never got to form the other pack near their Master's house because they never got to leave. Due to being unable to find any wolf pack settlement nearby, their Master reluctantly brought Trick together into hiding with him. Even if it would cause problems along the way, he didn't want them out fending for themselves. Trick would slowly start the learn the truth behind their Master's identity.
Will Treat, Mochi, and Moxie still get together?
Yes!!!!!!! However, with the way it's going, Fennel will be included too!! I have it somewhat outlined how I want it to go, but you'll have to read my friend's fic on it!!!
Speaking of fics...
Here are ALL the current fics and side stories so far!!
MAIN FIC (collab between me and @blobsicle): LINK
Short Stories:
(these are by me :3)
Fennel x Treat
Treat and Mochi Meeting
HOW TO TAG THE AU
Use either '#Shifted Story' or just '#Emo Treat AU'!!!
that's all for the AU!!! I hope you guys like it so far :3>!! Feel free to add onto any of this, or add a spin!! i'd love to see any of it so feel free to tag me!!
I'll be scheduling some posts with art i've made :)

I saw on ur twt post from a couple days ago that said Rina had some history with Derek
Could you go over their lore 👀
What are some of your headcannons for Derek and his family?
Love ya!
Hiiii! Sorry this is a little late, but yes! I’ll gladly give some lore/background on Marina and Derek. :3c
—
So before Rina was taken away by the auction, she was working under the discretion and direction of the Goffard’s as their assistant, and had worked for them for a little under a year before disappearing.
Like Derek, Rina is from wealth, though her family is essentially broke now due to her father burning their fortune to nothing through shady business dealings, gambling, etc. Rina’s father is a land baron and real estate developer who builds high rise buildings and corporate offices across North America. One of Rina’s Father’s oldest partners is Derek’s Father, and has had a hand in the architectural development of his offices. Rina and Derek are around the same age and know each other, though not well, only crossing paths when their families cross paths, like at banquets or fundraising benefits.
Rina’s entire family is under her father’s employment, so all 4 of her living older siblings have a role in his business. With Rina being the baby of the family, she was the last one added to his team by default after she graduated with her business degree. Despite being the baby of the family, she is not coddled, and as I’ve discussed in previous posts, has been a victim of physical abuse at the hands of her father. Not too long after Rina was put onto her father’s team, things took a steep turn financially, leading to internal company changes.
Rina’s employment under the Goffard’s was a “favor” from Derek’s dad to Rina’s dad. For the favor’s terms, Derek’s father offered up a handsome loan to Rina’s father to jump start his real estate/land development business back from financial ruin in exchange for youngest daughter, Rina, to which he accepted with no questions asked. So essentially, Rina’s employment was bought by Derek’s father, and he did not care how she was treated, just so long as Mr. Goffard held up his end of the bargain.
Mr. Goffard did not have good intentions with buying Rina, but in the end never got his chance to act on his gross desires, instead having his son harass her until her disappearance. Though, he did get to attend Fox’s livestreams that she costarred in…so he did get to have his fun, even if only behind a screen.
So from there, Rina was shipped off away from her family to work under the Goffard’s. Rina’s job at her new place of employment was an assistant of sorts, mainly to pick up Derek’s slack and report to him for menial tasks. This job is way below her skill level and talents, and she is treated as nothing more than a lackey to Derek. Rina does not think highly of Derek, seeing him as a crass chauvinist. Despite this, there are times that they can get along and chat normally similarly to how they did when they were younger.
Derek is interested in her quite obviously, but she never reciprocates, often pissing him off with her cold demeanor and sober word choices. Derek constantly tries to get her to be interested in him; asking her on dates, inviting her to his office to spend time with him, caging her between counters and him in the coworker’s lounge, and even going so far as to grope her to let his intentions be known. None of his charades work on her, even when threatened with termination of employment. (she contractually cannot be terminated based on the term’s of the favor between her father and Derek’s father, lol)
Rina was actually supposed to be bought by Derek at the auction with Celia and Mason, but ultimately she was kept by Fox. After the events of the livestreams, Rina no longer has contact with her old life, and that includes Derek, though after some time passes, there are times where Fox parades her around to his constituents at underground/black market functions, to which Derek eyes her from afar, but is not allowed to interact with or talk to her unless supervised.
—
And that about covers it, I think! Thank you for the question! <3

host mother
you seemed to like it when i actually included expository text for once instead of just the title, so context under the cut?
orchidee and tyche, the mother of cybele and the unicorns' host during orchidees... internship? fantasy internship? what else might i call it... work study? lol
tyche and cynric are the parents of seven kobolds, the oldest being the runaway, gwydion, and the youngest being cybele. despite her familys pariah status following gwydions escape, tyche remains the reason why many mouths are still being fed in the settlement. thats one thing orchidee doesnt understand because of her limited worldview - you would feed people who shun you???? but her confusion is outweighed by her fascination. seeing tyche do all the things that servants do in the shadows back in lafossa is an endless source of entertainment for her. yes, she really is THAT interested in watching tyche cook
very quickly, tyche picks up on the idea that orchidee may not have an awesome relationship with her mother. she doesnt write to her, or vice versa, and seems disinterested in talking about her family. orchidee latches onto tyche as a mother figure, and tyche is likewise enamored by her sweet and curious nature. she is also the first to intuit that orchidee has entered some sort of relationship with her youngest child, and actively encourages it in the hopes that cybele will be motivated to leave for a better life in lafossa. her devastation over cybeles death feeds the flame of orchidees desire to reanimate them. but perhaps the most lasting impact she has on orchidee is her passing down of herbal and natural magic. one concoction she teaches orchidee to make is a draught of torpor, which allows the kobolds to sleep through longer periods of hunger and scarcity. orchidee makes this draught to wait out eubora and attempt to reanimate cybele a second time... but she fucks it up and sleeps for several decades instead. she was never good at any kind of magic, i guess! many of tyches recipes serve her well during her life in the deerwood, even if she doesnt remember where the knowledge came from
another one of those "FUCK, just TAKE it" pieces. the problem with tyche is her colors are all very similar, so she threw me for a loop until i was so fed up with correction layers and shading and lighting that i just decided, you know what, im done. im gonna draw her again someday though so im not sweating it tooooo hard... man

hello! first of all, i am in love with all your art, like, seriously, especially the recent ones 'cause young EoY is sooooooo indescribably lovely!!!🤧🤍 but i also got curious if you have any headcannons or ideas in general about her sisters and the relationship between them, maybe particularly with the oldest ones, like Mary and Cecily? just curiosity really, 'cause i think a lot about it 🤭
Hello!
Thanks for the compliments! I am delighted to know that my ideas arouse your interest! <33333
Indeed, it can be said that I have some headcanons with the York sisters, especially the first three - Elizabeth, Mary and Cecily. I will speak more on her behalf, because we know the most information about her, but Elizabeth and the York royals formed a very united family, especially that of Edward IV. I'm not necessarily saying that it's something out of the ordinary in the Middle Ages - although it may have seemed so - but the moment when I learned about Edward's affection for his daughters was the same when all the scenarios about them came to life.
This is especially because I am the type of person who likes to look more towards the domestic side of medieval life, not necessarily politics. Of course, at first it seemed natural to me to start this journey by illustrating Elizabeth - she being the most popular of the York sisters -, and at the same time trying to figure out what kind of personality I could attribute to her. All the information we know about her put her somewhat in the light of a saint or at least that of a "perfect child", so I wanted through all this artistic search of mine to discover what would be the correct approach regarding her childhood - the challenges she could create for her parents; fits of anger through which she could express her dissatisfaction; the moments when she proves a little more difficult to discipline. I want to explore the defiant Elizabeth, the impulsive Elizabeth, the Elizabeth who prefers to resort to deception or an innocent lie instead of taking responsibility, the one who uses her position as a princess to get what she wants. In short, my goal is to get past this historical covering of perfectionism and discover the child in Elizabeth, not necessarily the Queen of England. The same aspects are valid for her other two younger sisters.
Back to the headcanons: I've always imagined Elizabeth being closest to Mary, just as Edward IV was closest to Edmund as a child - as two confidants, secretly sneaking sweets into the bedchamber they share together , playing and reading stories even though they should be sleeping, lending each other some accessories, poking each other with sarcastic lines while embroidering, etc. I have the impression that Cecily would receive special treatment, being the third and the youngest among them, ending up causing some jealous reactions from the two older sisters. Elizabeth is the eldest, but she can be very impulsive at times. I imagine Mary to be much quieter and more obedient and Cecily would be the one who probably causes most of the disasters, lol. That is unless we are talking about the scenario in which all three appear, the "daddy's princesses" group, in which case they most likely got together to make Edward's life an ordeal, haha. Because I like nothing more than putting Edward in difficult or stressful positions because of his princesses. I love doing this. A lot.
Here we have an existential crisis roughly outlined in 30 minutes, lol.

Do you know Parents Trap? It's a pretty old movie about two twin sisters separated by their divorced parents. One lives with her father in Napa on a vineyard, and one lives with her designer mother in London. They meet unexpectedly at camp at the age of 12 and decide to switch places, impersonating the other to meet the other parent and force them to get back together. There's a funny scene where one girl has to have her hair cut and her ears pierced because of this plan, which immediately makes me imagine Spider having to cut his hair and Hunter being terrified when Spider informs him that he has to have his ears pierced. I wonder how this would work in Blood Brothers (if Hunter and Spider were twins, who would take which child and who would be the first to realize something was wrong?)
lol I hope when you say old movie your talking about the one from the sixties and not the Lindsey Lohan one from 1998 because I’m almost two years older then that movie. 😭 (don’t worry though I legitimately find this funny)
So yeah I grew up on that movie. I think I got this idea off of tumblr years ago, I’m not really sure, but it was pointing out how insane in concept the Parent trap is. Like how is a parent going to choose one of there kids over the other and then just act like that kid never existed. Absolutely wild. And then the girls switching places instead of just calling their parents out? Matching crazy to crazy.
So my idea for why Quaritch and Paz split in the first place. Obviously they met and fell in love during the war. They had two kids, though in this concept I’m going to say the boys aren’t twins. They’re two years apart like in Blood Brothers. Being at home alone with the kids and a little postpartum depressed Paz starts thinking about everything she did during the war and regrets it deeply. She wants to make amends by going back to Pandora to help the Na’vi however she can. She floats this idea past her husband and he just laughs at her. The need to right her wrongs is so strong that Paz decides to take both the kids and leave. What she didn’t expect was that her husband would come home early on the day of her escape. Spider was already in his car seat but Hunter hadn’t been strapped in yet. Quaritch takes the baby away and the two get into a massive fight that escalates more and more until Quaritch is telling Paz she’s gone crazy and he threatening to put her away. Paz in a panic manages to get in the car and drive away. It cleves her heart in two but she vows to get her youngest back one day.
Quaritch is equally devastated to lose his wife and oldest son. In the following days weeks and months both parents try to fight in court from across the globe to get their other child back but nothing ever comes of it. Spider is raised in Pandora by his mom. Paz works with the late Dr.Augustine’s team as their pilot. Hunter is raised by his dad as a military brat but the kid has no interest in any of it. He likes to read, stay inside, build models and play chess. Quaritch does his best with him but Hunter makes him feel like a moron. He thinks the kid could use a summer outside, hiking, canoeing, doing archery. So he sends him to summer camp.
Spider has already been sent to that summer camp a few years in a row. His friends Kiri, Lo’ak, and Neteyam split their time between to u.s and Pandora so really he just goes to have an excuse to hang out with his friends more. You know the story from their Spider and Hunter get into shenanigans and arguments until the camp counselors force them to stay in a cabin together to work out their differences. They start opening up to each other, one thing leads to another and they realize they’re brothers. They think on what to do. Now I’m of two minds about this. One they just straight up face time their parents. They are side by side, looking so much like each other that it’s unmistakable that they are brothers. Spider calls his mom and she goes pale at the sight of her youngest son. Spider is just like, “hey mom what the fuck?!” Hunter calls dad and is a little nicer. After his dad greats him Hunter wordlessly turns the phone so his brother is in frame then says, “I think you forgot to tell me about something.” Both parents would be getting on the first available plane to try and get to the camp before the other so they could just straight up take their other kid leading to then reconnecting and their kids forcing them to have a calm conversation with each other.
The other idea is still kind of the Parent Trap just without them trying to look like the other. The boys just straight up switch the pictures in their passports and the name tags on their duffel bags. Once they get to the airport they part ways Hunter going to Pandora and Spider to Washington D. C. Quaritch is waiting at the airport, worriedly looking around for Hunter. Instead his heart completely stops when a tall teen built like tank with a wild mane of chest length curls braided with beads approaches him with a mischievous grin on his face. He knows instantly that’s his Miles jr. Spider dramatically drops his bag at his dad’s feet, holding his arms out wide, “hi there dad.”
The boy is being sarcastic but Quaritch is so happy to see him after all this time that he pulls his son into a tight hug. Spider is stunned. From everything his mom told him he expected his dad to be an emotionless military drone. This? Tucked under the man’s chin, being held like a life line and in public no less? It stuns him so much that he just hugs him back.
Hunter was nervous as hell to meet his mom. He steps off the plane and she’s just right there. She’s only surprised for a moment before she’s all over him, hugging him tight, peppering his cheeks and the top of his head with kisses. She’s crying and it makes Hunter cry too. Not that his dad doesn’t give him affection but this is different. This is his mom.
The boys explain everything. They want a chance to get to know their other parent for the remainder of summer. Then before they have to go back to school the four of them will meet up at a hotel to figure things out. Quaritch and Paz agree. They’re both just so happy to make up for lost time.
Spider wants to make things hard for Quaritch since he knows his dad is a bad guy. His dad tries to buy him new clothes because Spider is wearing “rags”. it’s hot as hell so around the house he dresses like he would in the jungle. If they go out he doesn’t really want all the attention on him so he wears shorts and cropped t shirts. Quaritch hates it. But when Spider gets his new clothes he just destroys them.
His dad makes little comments about his hair like “wouldn’t you be more comfortable without that mane of yours.” Spider’s just like “nope.” He spends even more time putting it in intricate styles because he knows it annoys Quaritch.
Spider tries to embarrasses his dad in front of his friends, he acts like a “savage” in public, he finds every way he can to torment his father. And it somehow makes Quaritch love him more. He knows the boy is just acting out because he thinks his dad is bad. Why wouldn’t he when he grew up in Pandora. So he enjoys doing nice things for his kid to try and change that perception.
Spider calls his dads cooking flavorless, unseasoned white people shit. Quaritch lets him pick a restaurant to go to instead, even if it’s over an hour away (which Spider totally does to test his dad’s patience.)
Quaritch invites Spider to go to work with him and Spider accepts but dresses in his loin cloth and accessorizes to Eywa. Quaritch just proudly pats him on the back in front of his colleagues and says, “look at this kid of mine! 16 years old and he’s stronger then most marines!” Spider actually blushes and later changes into some gym clothes.
Spider makes a scene climbing the displays at the mall. Quaritch takes off work for a week so they can go on a camping trip. He’s grinning ear to ear watching his son shimmy up a tree with all the grace of a monkey. Spider would be embarrassed as hell if his dad said it out loud but Quaritch thinks it’s really cute. They bond a lot on the camping trip. It’s everything both of them ever imagined doing with their father/son. On the last night they’re star gazing, content in the silence when Spider asks, “dad? Do you ever regret what you did in the war?”
“Would you feel better about me if i did?”
“Yeah I would actually.”
Quaritch sighs, “I tell myself I was just following orders. That I did what I thought was best for our country…”
“But….”
Quaritch takes a deep breath, “no buts. That’s how I get through the day.”
“By shoving it down and not thinking about it.” Spider mumbles. Quaritch hears him but chooses to ignore him. The conversation does give Spider a sliver of hope that maybe his dad can change.
Meanwhile Hunter is having a time. He’s shy and prefers being indoors so he clings to his mom and never wants to leave the labs. Paz is super patient with him though. She’ll hold both his hands and ask gently, “why don’t you want to go outside sweetheart?”
“Because it’s a jungle! There’s wild animals and poisonous bugs and it’s hot and humid and I just don’t want to!”
“Your brother and I have lived here for years and we’ve been okay. Plus where going to the village. It’s perfectly safe there…”
“But all the people. Won’t they hate me?”
“Why would they hate you?”
“Because of what dad did…”
“What your dad and me did has nothing to do with you. Just be kind. Everyone will love you.” It’s the gentle reassurance Hunter has always needed. He’s still incredibly nervous when they reach the village.
Mo’at is the first to approach him smiling warmly. “Welcome to our village. I hope you are not as wild as your brother.”
Hunter actually laughs a little, “not by a long shot.”
“Good. Come I will show you around.” Hunter is in awe as they walk around. The warriors are cool of course but Hunter is mesmerized by the crafts people. Weavers creating gorgeous brightly colored, intricately designed textiles. Potters painstakingly making beautiful ceramics works. Wood carvers perfectly carving the jungles wild life. Paz sees him watching and encourages him to ask to join. Hunter’s extremely hesitant. It takes days of his mother’s gentle coaxing but eventually he does. Crafting actually helps Hunter open up. After a few weeks he’s almost a different kid, happily running around with other children, excitedly racing up to his mom to show her the garment he wove himself or the jewelry he strung together with beads he made. Every day he’s eager to get to the village, practically pushing Paz out the door.
I still do like the idea of the boys assimilating a little bit and the makeovers you mentioned from the movie I think are a great way to bond with their parent.
Quaritch has a poker night every once in a while. Spider has never played before but he’s a quick study and soon he’s dominating the game. They’ve played a few rounds and Spider is feeling overconfident. Everyone but his dad has folded. They both go all in. Then to make it more interesting Spider proposes a bet. Quaritch laughs, “what do you even want?”
“I don’t know. You can reconcile with mom? Move closer to Pandora so we can at least see each other more often? Apologize to the Omaticaya?”
“Alright, alright. And what do you have that I’d want?”
Spider’s hand is so good that he doesn’t think twice about saying, “you can cut my hair. However you like.”
Quaritch chuckles, “okay kid deal.” He lays down his hand. And it’s the ultimate winning hand. Spider’s stomach drops. He lost.
His dad’s team is laughing and hollering behind him. They excitedly start setting everything up, Mansk grabbing the kitchen chair, Lyle raiding the bathroom for a pair of clippers, jokingly reveing it close to Spider’s head. Spider just goes into himself, so sure that Quaritch is about to give him a buzz cut.
Quaritch on the other hand sees how utterly devastated his son already looks and takes pity on him. When his son had been cocky and made the bet in the first place he had totally planned on giving the kid a buzz cut. But seeing his face - he just can’t do that to him. He’s not going to do nothing. They did make a bet after all and you reap what you sow. He cuts Spider’s hair to his shoulders. His team boos around them wanting more of a show.
Spider is stunned in the best way. He can most definitely live with this. It’s the same length as Lo’ak and Neteyam’s. He can still style it in braids, it feels ridiculously healthy and while he hates to admit it, he is more comfortable. It’s so light, making the summer heat much more bearable. But more importantly Spider’s so happy to see his dad put his wants above what he thinks is socially appropriate. After that Spider starts to wear the “nice” clothes Quaritch buys for him but he does still customize them, embroidering them with symbols and patterns unique to the Omaticaya.
Hunter silently longs to pierce his ears. He really likes the look on the villagers and he’s even already made some ear rings for himself but he’s terrified of the pain and blood. Paz can see right through her son though and says, “sweetheart, do you want to pierce your ears?”
Hunter denies it but his mom takes his hands saying gently, “it’s okay if you do. It really doesn’t hurt and there’s hardly any blood. You’ll be just fine. I promise. But if you really don’t want to I’ll drop it.”
“No i.. I do. I want to.”
Paz smiles gently, “ok then. Let’s do it.” Hunter lays in his mom’s lap. She lovingly strokes his hair while Mo’at readies the needle. When Mo’at approaches Hunter’s panic starts to flair and he starts to squirm. His mom starts to hum a song, steadying him with her hands. And it works wonders. Looking up at his mom Hunter feels incredibly safe, like nothing bad could ever happen to him again. His ears are pierced quickly and nearly painlessly. Hunter wonders why we so scared in the first place.
As the summer draws to a close both parents try to cram in as much as they can. Quaritch teaches Spider how to drive. Paz teaches Hunter how to dance, something the boy was incredibly awkward at first until his mom got him to loosen up. As they dance Hunter can’t help but ask, “mom? Do you still love dad?”
Paz might of well has been slapped, “that’s….complicated sweetheart.”
“Why?”
Paz really doesn’t want to explain all the pain behind their last meeting or the worse pain that comes from thinking about everything they had before that and everything they could have had after if things had been different. Her son isn’t her therapist and she’s not about to burden him with any of that. “It’s been a long time,” she settles on, “we had a good life together and I love him for that time. I love him for giving me you and your brother.”
“But now?”
Paz just smiles sadly, “now it’s been a long time.” Hunter drops it after that.
A few days before their due to meet with Paz and Hunter, Quaritch throws a party for Spider. Low key he’s terrified he’ll never get to see his eldest ever again. So they’re having a bonfire, Quaritch’s entire team is there, they’re playing music and just having a good time when Quaritch asks Spider, “do you want to try a beer?” Of course he says yes. One beer leads to another, then another, and then his dad is giving him his first shot of whiskey too. Father and son are drunk off their asses, cuddled up by the fire when Spider asks, “do you still love mom?”
Quaritch is so trashed he doesn’t even think about his answer, “yeah I do.”
“Then why don’t you fight for her,” he slurs.
Quaritch shrugs, “she left me. She made it pretty clear how she feels.”
“You haven’t even talked to her in years!”
“And she hasn’t tried to talk to me either!”
“So you’re both being stupid.” Quaritch just stews in his annoyance. “Come on! Don’t you miss her? Don’t you want us all to be a family?”
“Well of course I do.”
“Then swallow your pride and fix things with mom!”
So that’s playing in Quaritch’s head as they walk into the hotel. Paz is nervous as hell too. They haven’t seen each other face to face since the day she left and that was messy to say the least. All other communication about a custody agreements (or lack of since they never agreed on anything) went through their lawyers. The tension is cut when they all come into view and the kids immediately run to their other parents. Quaritch scoops Hunter right up and hugs him close. “Jesus what have they been feedin’ y’a kid!” Hunter is noticeably taller and put on some muscle. His hair grew longer, nearly as long as his brother’s. When Quaritch tucks the curly strands behind his ears he notices they’ve been pierced. He doesn’t approve but chooses to bite his tongue. Hunter’s not just physically different. There’s a confidence and energy in his eyes that’s never been there before. He’d hate to dampen that by making a negative comment on something Hunter clearly liked.
Spider and Paz are similar though Spider is so much bigger than his mom that he picks her up for a hug. They both intentionally squeeze each other as hard as they can. When they break apart Paz takes him in, touching the ends of his hair in amazement, “did hell freeze over?!”
Spider just laughs, “lost a bet.”
“To who?”
“To dad.”
Paz’s eyes go wide, “and you still have hair!? Paz is legitimately impressed. She had worried about her eldest for sure, knowing that him and his father would butt heads. And when someone fell out of line for Quaritch he put them in their place. But her son looked so happy. He wouldn’t act this way unless he’d had a really good time with his dad.
The boys share a room at the hotel while Paz and Quaritch have their own. They’re all going to have a family dinner that night but in the meantime Spider and Hunter are swapping notes. Dad still loves mom. Mom’s feelings are complicated. If they could just get them talking maybe they had a chance at reconciling. And if they could create a romantic date to reignite that spark between them then maybe they could be a family again. So they start scheming. They ask for a private dinning room which the hotel concierge surprisingly gives them (he lives for the drama, is typically board as hell, and saw an opportunity for shit to get messy) Spider is FaceTiming Kiri as they set up the room because, “I don’t how to be romantic! This shit is gross to me!”
“What makes you think I know!”
“Ah, all the shitty rom-coms you make me watch at sleepovers.”
“Don’t act like you don’t love roasting them with me.” Spider just nods in shameless agreement. In the end the room is beautiful, decked out in flowers and candles. Quaritch’s eyebrows raise in surprise when he sees it but says nothing. Paz stops in her tracks looking around in awe before taking her seat. The boys side eye each other, glowing with pride. The dinner starts off smooth. Spider and Hunter are manly recapping their summers. Their parents are happy to listen to them, occasionally interjecting with a joke or a correction to the story. It all feels so nice. “I need to go to the bathroom,” Spider says abruptly, rising from his seat.
Hunter, catching what his brother is doing, hurriedly follows after him saying, “me too!” They run out leaving their parents completely alone. There’s no where for the boys to hide so they go back to their room.
The atmosphere turns incredibly awkward between Paz and Quaritch. “You look really good,” Quaritch says.
“Thanks,” Paz says, not looking at him, taking a deep drink from her wine glass.
Quaritch sighs. “I’m so sorry.”
Paz nearly chokes, “what?”
“I said I’m sorry. For not takin’ y’a seriously when you said you wanted to make up for what we did in the war. For all the things I said to y’a during that fight. For keeping Hunter from you…”
“I said some pretty terrible things to you too. And I kept Spider from you.”
Quaritch takes a deep breath. He wants to say more. Tell her despite it all he still loves her. Beg her to just come home. But he doesn’t. In stead he asks, “can we just come up with a custody agreement? I’d rather have both my boys for half the year than have one all the time and never see the other at all.”
Paz nods. If she’s disappointed then she doesn’t allow herself to feel it. “Agreed. I’ve been thinking about it a lot actually. If I stay in Pandora then there’s no way we could share them on a weekly basis…”
“You could always come home,” Quaritch blurts out, immediately turning red.
Paz’s breath catches for a moment. She chooses to ignore his comment and the way he’s looking at her so desperately. “I’ve been home schooling Spider but I don’t think I can give him or Hunter the education they need. So I think it’d be best for both of them if they stayed with you during the school year…”
Quaritch is shocked. He’s getting the better end of the deal for sure and he’s thrilled but at the same time can’t stand seeing Paz so upset even though she’s trying to hide it. “During their breaks I’ll take’em right from school to the airport. I won’t waste a second. You’ll have them all Christmas and Spring break and summer. And you’re always welcome to visit! It’s still your home…”
Paz feels like she might cry from the storm of emotions brewing inside her, “thank you,” she says softly, her voice breaking slightly. They eat in complete silence after that.
The next day they tell the boys the new arrangement. Neither of them are happy but Spider is the most upset. “I don’t want to live in America with dad! I want to stay with you and go back home!”
“But you liked living with your dad over the summer…”
“That doesn’t mean I want to stay with him!” Quaritch is definitely hurt by that but chooses to not say anything.
“Sweetheart it’s not fair to keep you from your dad. He loves you just as much as I do and he deserves to spend time with you..”
“He doesn’t deserve anything from me! What about what I deserve! Don’t I deserve to live where I want. Or pick which parent I want to live with!”
“Baby I just want what’s best for you. The school Hunter goes to is amazing. You’ll get a better education and have so many more opportunities in the future because of it.”
“I don’t care!”
“Stop yelling at your mother,” Quaritch commands. “You don’t think this is hard for her! She loves you both more than anything! I know she’d rather keep you both here with her but she’s sending y’a off with me instead because that’s what’s best for y’a. So shut your mouth right now and be good because you will be going home with me Miles. There’s an easy way of doing that and a hard way. You will not like the hard way.” Spider scowls at the ground angry at his father but feeling guilty for how he treated his mom.
When they go to the airport it’s a long sad goodbye. Hunter clings to him mom not wanting to lose her again after just getting her back. Spider is angry at having to go. His dad is still prepared to drag him onto the plane kicking and screaming. His mom strokes his hair, gives him hugs and kisses, a soft sad smile on her face. She promises to call all the time and assures him that everything will be okay.
It’s when the plane takes off that Paz breaks down, sobbing without a care for who sees her as she watches her boys be taken from her. On the plane itself Hunter is staring dead eyed out the window. His dad is rubbing his back to comfort him but it’s no use. When Quaritch tries to do the same for Spider his son flinches away from him hissing, “don’t touch me!” Quaritch drops it and lets the boy simmer in his rage. It’s after they’ve been cruising for a while that Quaritch starts hearing soft sniffles from his eldest. When he looks at him Spider is pointedly looking away but there are tears in his eyes. Quaritch doesn’t try to comfort him with words. He pulls Spider into his side and presses the boy’s head onto his shoulder. Spider doesn’t fight it. He’s to upset over losing his entire way of life. He starts bawling. His dad hugs him tight, petting his hair, wiping his face. Hunter starts crying seeing his brother cry and Quaritch tucks him into his other side, holding them both close the entire way home.
Once they settle in at home Spider is openly hostile to his dad. He picks fights with him every chance he gets. When his dad tries to show him a little bit of affection, like smoothing out Spider’s bed head in the morning, or giving him a pat on the back, Spider flinches away from him hissing and glaring like an abused cat. He’s no better at school either. Spider was relieved to find out the private school he’d be going to was the same one the Sully’s attended. He got pissed again when his placement exam put him three semesters behind where he should be. His teachers and dad all come up with a game plan to get him on track but that basically ment he’d be working on his gen eds with no room in his schedule for any extra curriculars like art or music and he’d have make up work to do over every vacation. So needless to say Spider acts out to try and get himself expelled. He’s in detention almost every day because of it. His principal has the counselor test him for behavioral issues and lo and behold he has A.D.H.D. Spider’s pissed about that too because now his teachers are willing to help him even more. No amount of acting out gets him detention after that, just a trip to the school counselor. Nothing short of assaulting another kid could get him kicked out now.
Him and his dad are constantly fighting. Quaritch tries to stay patient but firm. It doesn’t really work though because when Spider starts yelling, Quaritch’s voice starts getting louder and louder. Poor Hunter is stuck in the middle, hiding in his room with his ears covered trying to block out all the screaming, wishing his mom was there.
The boys FaceTime with their mom every day after dinner. It’s two in the morning her time but she stays up for them. They’re nothing but happy smiles and excited conversations when they’re on the phone together. Then the moment they hang up they all go back to being sad and bitter. Paz is a wreck outside of those phone calls. She’s definitely depressed. She doesn’t want to eat, can’t sleep but doesn’t want to get out of bed either. Her work suffers and everyone around her begs her to get help. The only bright spots in her day are her calls with her kids and the texts Quaritch sends to her. He takes pictures of the boys all the time - when they’re eating breakfast with their eyes half open, doing homework at the kitchen table, playing video games or watching tv together. He gives her constant updates on their day to day and always asks how she’s doing. If she needs anything, if he can do better with communicating to her. That old spark of love slowly starts to flicker again.
Meanwhile Spider and Hunter make quite a few changes to Quaritch’s house. They paint the walls one weekend when Quaritch is on a business trip turning the once beige house into an explosion of rich blues, burnt oranges and forest greens. Hunter, having learned crafting from the Na’vi, weaves brightly patterned blankets and pillows to decorate. He takes pottery at school bringing home a bunch of ceramics pieces that he proudly displays all over the house. Spider steals money from his dad to buy a bunch of house plants and start up what was once Paz’s garden in there backyard. Quaritch was pissed as hell, grounded Spider for a month for stealing his money, and made him do every chore around the house until he’d “paid back” what he had taken. The boys love working in the garden though. It makes them feel closer to their mom and Eywa. It’s the only time they really feel content and it makes Quaritch smile watching them.
It’s mid October when Paz calls Quaritch. He picks up before the first ring is done sounding. Paz hesitates for a moment and then says surprisingly timid, “I was thinking about visiting this weekend. If that’s okay…”
“Of course it is,” Quaritch rushes to say, “you’re welcome to stay as long as y’a like. I’ll take off work and pick y’a up from the airport.”
Paz doesn’t know why she feels so relieved to hear him say that. He had already assured her that she was always welcome. “Thank you. Don’t tell the boys I’m coming though. I want to surprise them.”
That Friday the boys walk out of school to their dad’s typical pickup spot. Only to stop short in surprise when they see both of their parents waiting outside the car for them. “Mom!” They both shout in excitement as they run into her arms. In that moment Paz is the happiest she’s been in months. Quaritch takes them all out to a nice restaurant and then an arcade. They have an absolute blast and for a moment Paz and Quaritch forget the rift between them.
Quaritch was more than willing to give up his room to Paz but she declines, taking the guest room instead. The boys are so excited to show their mom their garden and all their artwork. They stay close to her as much as possible, dreading the day she’ll leave again. Quaritch is quietly savoring it all too. His son’s are so much happier with their mother there. Hunter is so much more energetic, happily running around the house after his brother, showing off his latest creation to his parents, helping with cooking and cleaning wherever he can. Spider is much more relaxed. He doesn’t pick fights with his dad anymore. He’ll let his dad show him affection, even enjoys it now. He works hard in school and never acts out.
Paz was always an active, inquisitive person. She goes with Quaritch to drop the boys off at school, then rides with him to works so she can take his car during the day. She likes to go to the park for a walk or the library to check out books she finds interesting or dvds she thinks her family will like. She’ll go on little adventures like going to small local shops that look interesting to her or driving somewhere random just to explore. She’s always back in time to pick up Quaritch from work, then the boys from school. At night she loves making dinner with her sons and helping them with their homework. They’ll all watch some tv together before heading off to bed. Paz and Quaritch always linger for a little bit waiting for the other to say something other than goodnight. They never do.
A weekend visit turns into a week trip, then a multi week trip and soon it’s been a full month. Paz has no desire to leave. Quaritch throws another bonfire one weekend for no other reason then he wants to before winter fully takes hold. The boys happily play fight with each other. Paz is wrapped up in a blanket watching them with a smile. Quaritch is right by her side, itching to hold her. He’s scared to say anything that might drive her away but he’s still pining for her hard. “This is really nice,” he says.
“It is,” Paz says dreamily
“I think we’ll have the best Thanksgiving and Christmas we’ve ever had this year.”
Paz is shocked thinking about how much time she’s already been here and how fast it’s all gone by. But still she wants to stay, “I think we will too.”
Quaritch’s heart is racing. Tentatively he puts an arm around her. Slowly Paz sinks onto his chest. They say absolutely nothing to each other. And then Spider looks over at them. “Dad still loves you,” he yells to his mom.
“Miles!”
“He told me when we were drunk!”
Paz laughs, “you let our 16 year old drink?”
Quaritch shrugs, “I was worried I’d never see him again. I wanted to have his first beer with him.” Paz is smiling at him with soft eyes.
“Just kiss,” Hunter yells.
“Alright parties over,” Quaritch says getting up to heard his boys into the house, “time to go to bed.”
Once the boys are gone the adults finally talk. “Spider wasn’t lying. I do still love you.”
“I….i still love you too..”
“But?”
“But we need to work on some things. Couples counseling for starters and maybe…”
“You want me to try to make up for what I did in the war.”
“There’s no making up for the things we’ve done. We can’t bring back the lives we took or restore the land we destroyed.”
“So what’s the point?”
“The point is that it’s the right thing to do. To try and be better. You’ve always wanted to be the hero. The brave military commander doing what’s best for your country. But all that’s a lie. No hero would ever do the things we’ve done. So for once fight for yourself. Save your soul Miles. Be the real hero our boys will actually look up to.”
Quaritch thinks about it for a long time before finally saying, “I’ll try. For our family, I’ll try.” Tentatively Paz kisses him. It’s a small innocent kiss as if testing whether the spark is really still there. And it is. They go from that kiss to desperately making out, to spending the night together.
Too bad for them Spider catches them coming out of the same room the next morning. “So,” he asks with a wry knowing smile, “how’d you sleep last night?”
“Go get your brother. We’re having a family meeting,” Quaritch says.
“Why? Are you having another kid after last night?”
“Go get your brother!” Spider runs off cackling.
So yeah I think you can pretty much see how’d it wrap up from there. Paz and Quaritch work on their relationship, Quaritch works to be a better man and they all live happily ever after. I honestly got really carried away with this one for some reason. I just kept getting ideas and couldn’t help myself. I really hope you enjoyed it though! 💞
