I got inspired to make this after spending more than 5 minutes on Facebook (I know better but I'm looking for a TV so I was checking marketplace but I'm easily distracted)

“I burned all our bridges - not knowing that love knows how to swim.” ― Laura Chouette

Note
Sir, I ask for your wisdom.
As someone who had lived for millenia, I am sure you may be able to help me.
There is a person I miss deeply. We once were close, but I had to burn the bridge. Problem is: it haunts me. All the good and bad we had haunts me, and while I know that I have to move on, I find it very hard to do. Do you have any wisdom on the matter of letting go of the past?
I do indeed. There have been a few in my service who, for one reason or another, earned the necessity of immolation.
It can be a difficult thing to sever ties with those whom you once considered close. After passions cool over ages, it can be even more difficult to keep said ties severed.
Some people are indeed capable of change. Capable of understanding their faults and truly aim to undo or at the very least deal with the damage they have created. Such ties may be worthy of reconnecting.
However, do not forget the reasons said bridges were burned. Also remind yourself of the person those individuals used to be, and whether or not those that you have parted from are the kind that can change, or merely appear to change to gain the opportunity to exploit you once more.
In short, bridges can always be constructed. Just be sure their foundations are solid on both sides before devoting time to build.

Silence’s chasm
I set the bridge on fire, a perfect self-sabotage,
And I’ve never enjoyed hiding behind this mirage,
But the truth is that I miss you more,
I hate the silence now more than I ever did before.
I guess somewhere between saying hello and goodbye,
I got used to having you by my side, it didn’t feel like a lie,
The embers still seem to smoulder, the memories aflame,
In every moment, your absence whispers your name,
But I can’t do more than watch the bridge crumble to dust,
A fragile connection no longer built on trust,
And as the flames dance, the fire burning what once was,
I wonder if there’s any chance we can survive this loss,
Maybe we were architects of our own undoing,
Putting up barriers, breaking the love we were pursuing,
As I watch the ashes settle, I find myself reaching for the spark,
Wondering if I can rebuild this bridge and walk across the dark.
But what if we gather the remnants, piece by fragile piece,
We can rebuild this bridge with newfound grace and release?
Maybe we could find each other again, across the chasm’s span,
Two souls reaching out, arms open, both saying “here I am”?
So let’s brave the ruins, hands outstretched and hearts aligned,
Forge a path through where the flames raged, find love redefined,
And whilst rebuilding, we could discover strength anew,
And perhaps, maybe, we can bridge the gap between me and you.
If our hands manage to touch across the void, fingers entwined,
The strength of love might be enough to mend what’s left behind,
Because despite the anger, the heartache, and the pain,
We were always better together, and we can have that again.

You are the one bridge I fear of burning. You know my deepest secrests, my darkest sides. You are my safe zone, my sanctuary. I fear to have the person who knows my core become a stranger. The more we get to know each other, the more I get attached. The more I have to prepare myself when all of these ends. Because I am a temporary person in everyone's lives.

Burning Bridges
Gray hairs sprouting up like testimonies The smoke from burning bridges makes it hard to see If I can walk back across to the other side Just to tell you I always cared, affectionately Leaves never fall the same way twice To see them drop again, a kaleidoscope in descent Pieces that come together to make a new puzzle In this new picture are we both in it?

the world was burning bridges
I sipped a little courage putting the leaf to flame which caught upon the footbridge and burned it just the same I watched it there transforming saw it becoming ash would there be any warning before it's set to crash I sipped a little courage beneath the weight of shame spilled some upon the footbridge and gave it to the flame the night was rightly storming conditions for collapse the fire itself was warming its roar sounded of taps the world was burning bridges and so I played along but the act discourages the righting of the wrong I sipped a little courage then sipped a little more made the fire on the footbridge easier to ignore I felt myself transforming stumbling to the crash so many words of warning still there I fell to ash the world was burning bridges and so I played along but the act discourages the righting of the wrong I sipped a little courage resilience the aim the falling of the footbridge was left up to the flame the night was rightly storming we'd left too many gaps the fires under-performing was just me who collapsed the world was burning bridges and so I played along but the act discourages the righting of the wrong I sipped a little courage then sipped a little more made the fire on the footbridge easier to ignore I felt myself transforming stumbling to the crash so many words of warning still there I fell to ash (11/15/24)
