I buy whole chickens because you really get more for your buck.
For 2 chickens I can get 5.5 meat heavy meals for 2 people, and a gallon or two of broth. (2 breast meals, 2 quarter meals, 1 bag of soup or casserole meat, 1 bag of a single serving of wings.)
I have a sealer now, but before that I just used ziplocks.

Day 3 of my 3 day workout routine. All exercises are in the same order in the video as they are in the notes. You do not have to go this slow, I just did so for the sake of showing you the proper form, but you also don’t want to go too fast either. A moderate speed, with proper form, and full range of motion is best. Full range of motion is key for maximizing muscle growth, and using momentum is a HUGE no-no. Keep your body as straight as possible, focus on maintaining the best form you possibly can, and use only the muscles you are supposed to be working for that particular workout. Do the exercises right, and the gains will come in time, don’t worry about how much you can lift. Everybody starts somewhere. Including myself. I sure am not lifting anything even moderately heavy yet. DO NOT SKIP LEG DAY. Your legs are quite literally half of your body. They need more consistent work than your other smaller muscles such as your arms and shoulders. If your legs aren’t extremely fatigued from your previous leg day, it’s not a bad idea to throw in an extra leg workout on a day that isn’t your leg day.

This guy does a lot of ‘meals on [very small amount of money]’ videos, among other stuff. This one is not only an example of that sort of thing but also includes a talk about people taking them the wrong way - basically taking shots at people who say that poverty means you should just learn to cook or to budget or so on.

The Joy of Cookbooks Need dinner ideas? Looking for something to bring to a holiday potluck? Want to explore the history of your favorite food? The Internet Archive’s Cookbook and Home Economics Collection holds more than 12,000 vintage recipe books–showcasing a fascinating slice of everyday life across decades of cooking. Here are a few of our favorites!
The White House Cook Book First published in 1887 and reissued in 1913, this compendium was created by author F. L. Gillette and former White House Steward Hugo Ziemann. With not only a variety of recipes but also menus, cooking techniques, etiquette advice, and household cleanliness tips, this bestselling cookbook promised to bring the grandeur of the White House to ordinary homes across the United States.
START EXPLORING
Five Cent Meals On the other end of the spectrum is this collection of thrifty recipes for those trying to stretch out their budgets. Back when five cents was a meaningful (though not large) amount of money, this cookbook provided families with menus, recipes, and advice for turning low-cost staples–like dried fruits, canned vegetables, beans, and flours–into delicious and nutritious meals.
GET THRIFTY
The Federation Cook Book Aside from serving as kitchen aids, cookbooks were often distributed as a perk of membership in clubs, associations, and other civic associations–especially those geared towards women. This 1910 cookbook was assembled by the California branch of the National Federation of Afro-American Women (also known as the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs).
BROWSE RECIPES
Nelson’s Pop Corn Recipes Cookbooks also often served as a marketing tool for food companies–such as this collection of recipes released by a popcorn maker. Some of these recipes are extremely… creative, including popcorn stuffing, popcorn canapés, and even popcorn omelets. Ever wanted to turn popcorn into a vegetarian meatloaf substitute? Now you can!
MAKE IT POP
Whether you’re looking for more terrible old recipes or just some useful cooking tips, our cookbook collection contains a lot of hidden gems. Bon appétit! -The Internet Archive Team

Tuna fishcakes are super easy, quick and cheap to make (all about that rising cost of living)
There are various recipes you can use - although its simple you can add more ingredients or keep it basic. You can also make and freeze them, serve with a crispy salad, rice or vegetables for a tasty and filling dinner.
𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨
• 2 medium floury potatoes, peeled and quartered
• large knob of unsalted butter
• 1½ tbsp mayonnaise
• 1 unwaxed lemon, finely grated zest only
• 3 spring onions, thinly sliced
• 150g tin of tuna, drained
• 2 slices bread
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• plain flour
• Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙
1) Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6.
2) Put the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until tender.
3) Drain the potatoes and return them to the pan with the butter, mayonnaise, lemon zest, spring onions, salt and a generous amount of black pepper. Mash together until smooth. Stir in the tuna and set aside.
4) Put the bread in a food processor and pulse until it crumbs (or just do it manually) Put the egg, flour and breadcrumbs into three separate shallow bowls.
5) Shape the tuna mixture into six fishcakes. Coat each first in flour, then in egg, then in breadcrumbs. (You can use one hand for the flour and breadcrumbs and another for the egg, to keep your fingers clean)
6) Place on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are just golden. You can also put in a frying pan with a little bit of oil or put in the air fryer to cook.
7) Serve!

My trick to making soups more filling
When money's tight soups are an easy way to stretch your food and budget. But it's not the most filling food. Adding a couple table spoons of instant mashed potatoes thickens the soup and makes it a more filling meal for very cheap. You can get a packet of mashed potatoes for about a dollar and use it for multiple meals.
I added a tablespoon to my egg noodles tonight because I accidentally added too much broth and needed to thicken it up. Love this.

Hey folks! Welcome to Episode 59! ⭐️ We are back in the past! Today we are taking a step back from Food & Reviews, and talking about Life. More specifically: my life. At 29 I consider myself a Nomad. Busy Bees and Bloomin Budgets: Delicious and Affordable Meals for the Time-Crunched Foodie
Busy Bees and Blooming Budgets: Delicious and Affordable Meals for the Time-Crunched Foodie .Ditch the takeout menus and hello to delicious, budget-friendly meals! This guide is packed with affordable and healthy recipe ideas for busy bees, proving that eating well doesn't have to break the bank.
Listen up, busy bees! We all know the struggle – juggling work, family, and other commitments, leaving little time or energy to whip up gourmet meals. But here's the good news:
eating healthy and delicious food doesn't have to cost a fortune or take hours in the kitchen. This guide is your roadmap to affordable and healthy meals, perfect for busy bees on a budget.
First things first, let's address the elephant in the room – budgeting for groceries. Here are some tips to get you started:
Plan your meals: Planning your meals for the week helps you avoid impulse purchases at the store and ensures you have ingredients on hand for healthy meals.
Embrace the grocery list: Stick to your list and avoid getting sucked into tempting (and often expensive) impulse buys.
Shop smart: Compare prices at different stores, utilize coupons and loyalty programs, and consider buying in bulk for staples like rice and beans.
Don't forget frozen: Frozen fruits and vegetables are often just as nutritious as fresh options and can be budget-friendly.
Now, let's get cookin'! Here are some affordable and healthy meal ideas to fuel your busy days:
Breakfast:
Overnight oats: Simply combine rolled oats, milk (dairy or plant-based), and your favorite flavorings (fruit, nuts, spices) in a jar the night before, and enjoy a grab-and-go breakfast in the morning.
Eggs: A classic for a reason! Eggs are a budget-friendly source of protein and can be prepared in endless ways – scrambled, fried, omelets, or even hard-boiled for a quick snack.
Whole-wheat toast with avocado and eggs: Add a touch of healthy fat and protein to your toast with a mashed avocado and a couple of fried eggs.
Lunch:
Leftovers: Leftovers are a lifesaver! Repurpose leftover dinner ingredients into a delicious and healthy lunch the next day.
Soup and salad: This classic combo is both filling and nutritious. Choose hearty, vegetable-packed soups and pair them with a simple salad tossed with a homemade vinaigrette.
Tuna salad sandwich: Opt for canned tuna packed in water and mix it with low-fat mayo, chopped celery, and red onion for a protein-packed sandwich on whole-wheat bread.
Dinner:
Bean burritos: Beans are a budget-friendly protein powerhouse. Make a big pot of chili beans and use them to fill tortillas with your favorite toppings like salsa, shredded cheese, and avocado.
Stir-fry: This is a quick and easy way to get your veggies in! Choose your favorite protein (chicken, tofu, shrimp) and stir-fry it with a colorful mix of vegetables and a simple sauce made with soy sauce, ginger, and garlic.
Pasta night: Skip the expensive pre-made sauces! Make a simple tomato sauce with canned tomatoes, garlic, and herbs, and pair it with whole-wheat pasta and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
Bonus Tip: Don't forget about meal prep! Dedicate some time on the weekend to cook and portion out meals for the week. This will save you time and ensure you always have healthy options readily available.
Remember, eating healthy on a budget is possible. By planning your meals, shopping smart, and getting creative in the kitchen, you can fuel your busy life with delicious and nutritious food without breaking the bank. So, busy bees, get out there, explore the world of affordable and healthy meals, and bloom into the healthy, energetic individuals you are meant to be!
