Nice Ask Week! If Tarlos was Australian, what favorites/hobbies/habits would they have?
hello courtney! thank you for this ask (it's really late, i'm so sorry).
called up my fellow australians for this task because it wasn't easy. the truth is, we don't have that many quirks. most of the fun stuff is the wildlife that can kill you.
i'm from melbourne (in the south-east of the country) and there's a huge italian presence in this city, which means we have both incredible food and coffee. melburnians are known to be coffee snobs, and i think if carlos lived here he would definitely get in and amongst the coffee culture. it's also a bit of a foodie-dream city, so i feel he'd fit right in.
as for tk...he'd definitely be one of those kids who lived down at the beach in summer. he probably did nippers (a surf life-saving program for kids), because owen would have wanted him to learn swim safety.
one question which divides the nation is whether you're a diehard fan of rugby league or australian rules football. some people (me) aren't really into either, but typically people follow one or the other. my state is super AFL heavy, so i'm better acquainted with that. if tarlos had to pick a team...i'm going to say carlos is giving geelong vibes for absolutely no reason whatsoever. tk, on the other hand, he's a little feral. not collingwood level but i could see him getting around richmond. no shade to anyone who follows AFL please i'm from melbourne and i loosely follow the brisbane lions so...who am i to judge.

Melt's new Brisbane River Pride Parade is almost here
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/melts-new-brisbane-river-pride-parade-is-almost-here/
Melt's new Brisbane River Pride Parade is almost here
Forget the Paris Olympics, Brisbane is bringing you the true river extravaganza of 2024.
As part of Melt, Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ community will be celebrated in the inaugural River Pride Parade.
‘Queen of the River’ Courtney Act will lead the event as it travels down the big Brown Snake (aka Brisbane River / Maiwar).
Behind her will be a flotilla of vessels celebrating queer pride as they make their way from William Jolly Bridge to the Brisbane Powerhouse.
The Parade, on Saturday 9th November, will be one of the last events as part of Melt, which is a multi-week city-wide celebration of Brisbane’s queer festival.
Melt is aimed at fostering inclusivity as well as provoking thought and celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities, artists and allies.
Be part of the parade
If you want to join the action, you can register your own boat or join an existing one.
The parade also doesn’t discriminate, boats of all shapes and sizes are welcome!
You can visit the River Parade website to register your vessel or give details to the organisers if you want to join a boat.
youtube
They’ll just ask a few questions about you and match you up with any crafts available.
Alternatively, you can hop aboard Harry K’s SPLASH OUT held on the OASIS.
It is the ultimate party boat experience with music, dancing, and spectacular entertainment featuring special guest artists.
And most importantly, you’ll be part of the parade! Win-win!
Watch (and party) from the sidelines
If you don’t want to cruise on a boat, you can watch from the many vantage points along the river bank.
Several outdoor viewing spots and parties will be set up that you can attend.
There will be a family-friendly pride picnic held by Rainbow Families as well as viewing spots at South Bank, Howard Smith Wharves and the Brisbane Powerhouse.

It’s free!
Whether you participate in the parade or watch from the sidelines, this incredible event is free!
However, organisers will be encouraging donations to their two LGBTQIA+ charity partners: Open Doors Youth Service and the Pinnacle Foundation.
Both charities support and empower young LGBTQIA+ people and are well worth putting your money behind. If you can help out, do chip in for the experience.
More than just the parade
On the weekend of the River Parade, there are still plenty of events as part of Melt.

You can wander the city discovering artworks of Christian Thompson being displayed throughout the streets of Brisbane.
If you’re a foodie, Night Feast at Brisbane Powerhouse will have a smorgasbord of delectable delights.
And there will also be a range of Melt shows till on across 60+ venues so there will be something for everyone!

The Art of Gifting: Check out the Best Gift Hampers in Australia’s Major Cities
https://www.mkohampers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/10903.jpg
Gifting requires thought, creativity, and a sense of personalisation. In a world with endless options, you can make numerous choices. What is the best gift to give? Is a gift hamper the answer? Instead of wandering from one shop to another, searching for a fitting gift, you can make a good selection of magnificently chosen gifts in a wicker hamper. Send a gift hamper for any occasion, for any gender, for any age. Whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary, or a corporate event, your gift hamper will speak louder than words and remain a well-remembered and time-appropriate present. In this blog, we take you around some of the best gift hampers in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane and explain why they are the best choices you can make for yourself and the ones you wish to send to an event.
The Charm of Melbourne’s Gift Hampers
As you’ll also know, Melbourne is a thriving cultural hub, a hotbed of population trendiness. It’s a city with a bohemian vibe and is renowned for its fantastic architecture, food, and art. All it takes is a quick Google search to discover a wide variety of gift hampers reflecting this culture and artistry available in Melbourne. The Best Gift Hampers in Melbourne are themed around gourmet food, fine wine, and artisan goods. You can choose from hampers filled with gourmet chocolates handcrafted in Melbourne, hampers filled with artisan cheeses from the markets of Brighton, and hampers filled with the very best wines Victoria has to offer. In short, there’s a gift hamper for every taste and every occasion. A hamper filled with speciality produce also supports your local businesses.
Sydney’s Sophisticated Gift Hampers
With a multicultural soul and urban landscapes surrounding it, Sydney is a hub of Western sophistication. You can buy any gift hamper that suits your taste, preference and budget here. If you are spoiled by the choice of high-quality gift hampers in Sydney, you are probably looking for the best gift hampers Sydney has to offer. Sydney offers gift hampers with all imaginable products, such as gourmet food baskets, luxury skincare hampers, sweets and coffee. If you need a sophisticated and extravagant basket, the Best Gift Hampers in Sydney will be brought to you.
Brisbane’s Best Gift Baskets
With its warm and friendly climate, Brisbane is a place where you can find the juiciest, freshest fruits and vegetables. These warm tropical and temperate climate conditions make it possible to produce some of the best gifts in the Australian capital – Brisbane because its baskets and hampers with fruits and vegetables have their unique freshness, flavour and immense immensity if you stand next to them and look at how the green has revived them in whole. The best baskets and hampers in Brisbane include tropical fruit baskets containing a perfect fruity mix and a cocoa and hamper cocktail—the delicate delights of chocolates, nuts, and wines selected from the best Queensland has to offer. The tropical line in the Best Gift Baskets in Brisbane—summertime! Choosing the best fruit or homemade cake to gift to your loved one means that you care about them very much, and these sweets can serve as a delicious decoration in their house. This summer taste will follow you around. Plantation fruit has a unique and fruity flavour that can remind you of a summer evening ice cream. The warm sunrays kiss the cake even when you have it as breakfast in the winter morning. Is there anything better than it?
Why Choose Gift Hampers for Your Next Occasion?
Customisation: The gift hamper can be personalised to match the recipient’s taste, making it unique and personal.
Convenience: It’s simple to order a gift hamper (sometimes with as few clicks if you order online), and it will arrive at the recipient’s doorstep.
Variety: We have foodie hampers for those who love their food, pamper hampers for those who just don’t want to do anything, and mixed hampers for those who like a bit of everything.
Presentation: Gift hampers are often beautifully packaged, adding elegance and luxury to your gift.
Local Support: Many gift hampers feature locally-produced products and items from artisans within the community. You can shop and gift locally!
Tips for Choosing the Perfect Gift Hamper
Consider the occasion: Choose a hamper for a celebration, a thank-you or a get-well-soon gift.
Know the Recipient: First, think about who’s getting it. Is there anything that they don’t or won’t eat? We’re not asking that you scour the internet for obscure allergies, but if you know that your cousin is vegan, that’s a way of getting you started. Do your research.
Budget: You need to consider the price of gift hampers – make sure the budget allows for good quality so that your recipient can enjoy the best of the produce.
Presentation: Some delicious hampers aren’t presented as well as others; if the presentation is part of the experience, consider this.
Delivery: Do I need to worry about delivery problems if I send the hamper to someone in a different city?
So, in conclusion, for one occasion or another, gift hampers can be the solution when you have to send a gift, and a godsend when there’s an occasion to which you must bring a hostess gift or that calls for a surprise dark horse gift by way of a downright pleasurable gift. You need more time or the ability to make the gift yourself. Gift hampers represent the ultimate in gift convenience, making the gift-giver appear thoughtful and personal. Easter hampers and Christmas hampers will do, but if you’re in Melbourne and looking for gift hampers, Melbourne, Sydney has too much class for that city, and Brisbane has too much freshness in their gift baskets. You’re in the right place.

By the end of this article, you’ll not only have a solid understanding of what makes Norfolk Island so special, but you’ll also be well-equipped to plan an itinerary that truly resonates with your travel aspirations.
Where is Norfolk Island?
Norfolk Island is located approximately 1000km off the east coast of Australia. Flights to Norfolk Island are only a short 2.5hr duration and are direct from either Sydney or Brisbane with Qantas. Sydney flights operate Mondays and Fridays with a seasonal Sunday flight. Brisbane flights operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Do I Need a Passport to Travel to Norfolk Island?
Norfolk Island is considered a domestic territory of Australia. From 1 July 2016, passengers travelling from Australia with Australian citizenship/permanent residence are no longer required to travel with a passport. However, taking your passport is highly recommended in case the flight needs to be diverted to an international port due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. If you do not have a passport, an Australian driver’s licence or another formal photo identification is allowed.
Qantas operates the flights out of the international terminals. That means you can also purchase items duty-free (as long as you are travelling on your passport), just remember standard duty-free allowances apply when returning back to mainland Australia. Plus, Norfolk Island’s currency is the Australian Dollar so no need to worry about exchange rates!
