I’m not trans, but i had a breast reduction at 22 and because of that I have the same anchor scars that many trans men get after top surgery.
I like to think of them as my “scar brothers,” or “brothers in scars” if you will. Scar Siblings for my nonbinary peeps.
I think it’s neat.
CW: Medical stuff under the cut
If I was going to say anything else it would be a note on said scars -
If you find your top surgery scars healed super thick and you find that upsetting, you can get them redone several years after your initial surgery and they will heal better the second time. (My insurance covered it as a “follow up operation” ymmv) (also no shame if you like your scars thick, that’s totally cool too).
The reason for this (to my limited knowledge) is because your first surgery is a much deeper heal. The cut went deep, and a bunch of stuff was removed, so the body had to heal all the way from the tissues to the skin all at once. Deeper cuts often end up in bigger scars.
However!! If you come back a few years later after the initial surgery has fully healed and settled (I think mine was 3-5 years? Not sure) and get the scars redone (they cut the scar out and sew up the unscarred skin on both sides) the scar generally ends up much smaller and less noticeable.
My first scars were big, ropey, and purple in some areas. They were very obvious and the keloids would hurt when I hit them by accident.
My second set of scars are much MUCH better. In some areas it’s hard to even notice them. They’re flat and the coloring is barely notable. I have one or two spots that are thicker but on the whole, the scarring is much less noticeable and less painful.
So just something to keep in mind if the look or feel of your scars bothers you.
Best of luck all my scar siblings!! (and wear your scar tape post surgery, it helps keep those scars flat and provides support to the skin so it doesn’t get shuffled about or pulled apart by movement and gravity and helps control keloiding)

IV fun facts:
hurts like hell when they put it in
the solutions they give you are at room temperature, so they will always feel cold and cool your hand down (either warm yourself up with your other hand or wrap a sweater around it)
every time you get a new solution, it will burn a bit at the start
the little access tube in your hand or arm gets entangled everywhere (your food, your clothes, the faucet)
removing the tube doesn't hurt at all

Waiting 'til I have the money for breast reduction surgery so I don't have to go through all of the red tape of it being a trans-affirming surgery and also because I have such a bad back I could convince the docs that it's for my back.
in a normal way.
yk?

Hi bunnies!
Post op week 14. Healing well. My surgeon has released me to run and exercise as I wish.
Tumblr media
I have reduce my bra size from a 36E/F to 36B (full). Or 34C (which women know is the same size cup).
Tumblr media
My belly and legs have gone soft and fluffy. So I welcome the Spring and being free to run again outside! But I wouldn’t trade a day exercise restricted to go back to this size!
Hope you all are happy and getting plenty of Vitamin D! ☀️☀️☀️☀️

My boys spent the night without me because I slept in the living room after my surgery, but now they're clinging to me

I've been mulling over getting breast reduction surgery for a while now and I had the first appointment with the plastic surgeon today (thanks to the support of my wife - you support me like no bra ever could).
Insurance covers the operation starting from 400 grams of tissue removed per breast
Surgeons guesses she'll be removing 600 grams per in my case
'do you want to go down to a C or a D?' I haven't been a C since I was 14! I've no clue! I'm a 75J right now I can't imagine what the first half of the alphabet is like anymore!
(only pasi is actually a 75D so we'd be bosom buddies haha)
Surgeon: "And then we'll be reducing the nipple to a size of 4 cm, which has scientifically been proven to be the most attractive size..."
Me: "I don't actually care about attractive - what causes the least complications?"
Surgeon:"Ah it's more like we needed a standard size for the, ah, moulds (makes a circle with fingers) so we went with the scientifically most attractive size..."
(I'd like to see those scientific papers.)
Biggest headache right now is the 'you won't be allowed to lift over 3 kilos for three weeks' which is not ideal when you have a toddler.

YES!!!
I got a consultation for a breast reduction surgery finally! A lot of people don’t know you have to go through the government funded healthcare for this surgery in Ontario, even private clinics can’t do it, but I was advised (after 4 years of being given the run-around or being ignored completely) to look at out-of-province options and like… bam! Got a consultation on the 24th in Québec. 🥰😁☺️ I’ll likely have to go off some meds and lose some weight but I cannot believe this!
I’m so happy!!!!

It finally happened! Someone I haven’t seen in months said “wow, you lost weight!” And I got to say “yeah, 2.6 lbs. I had it surgically removed!” 😆

I lived.
First things of note:
•I can see my feet when I stand up now.
• I’m not having to crane my neck to use my phone.
• My button ups look way cooler now 😎

Hellsite residents, neighbors,
I am getting a breast reduction surgery tomorrow. I've had chronic back ache and skin problems since I was around 14. I'm 23 now. I finally have the balls and the finances to go through with it. I'll be in the hands of a good surgeon and I'll be discharged the same day but I'm very scared and nervous about going into surgery, so pls keep me in ur prayers.
I don't strictly believe in any religion, I just like the idea of a God a lot, so pls put in a good word for me with your deity of choice. I'll take all the chances I can get :)
As my Google calendar says "Happy Boobsn't Day" to all those who celebrate 🎉

Hi Bunnies
Here are the first pictures of me after my breast reduction and lift 10 days ago. I still have a lot of swelling in my abdomen and bust area. Lots of bruising. But I’m off narcotics and I’m sleeping through the night. Try sleeping flat of your back all night. Misery!
No running or lifting for 4 weeks. But I can start walking and light upper body exercises this week.
Comparison photo: May 2020 versus January 2023.
201 lbs versus ~138 lbs.
Life doesn’t stop at menopause. I will trust my journey in 2023.
