*Nana holds up a picture of Garak and Bashir basically eye-fucking across a table*
“YOU DON’T NEED MORE THAN THIS.”
DID YOU KNOW the deep space nine writers tried to make a kira/dukat romance arc and the only reason we did not have to endure that is because nana visitor heroically put a stop to it by yelling at the producers. everyone say thank you nana visitor

Two Ontarians came together and created the awesomest new musical instrument??
One guy is a musician from Ottawa and has been toying with the design of a new instrument for 30 years, then he met a clockmaker and woodworker from Guelph who was eager to make this instrument a reality.
And it's absolutely beautiful. It's cylindrical and played with a bow, 10 equally spaced strings that you bow in different spots to change tensions and make a sound.
And the genius of it musically, is that it's cyclical so as you keep rotating the cylinder, you come back round to the first notes you struck (if you keep your bow still), and so you get these rhythmic, periodic repeating patterns that sound really ethereal, calming and hypnotic.
Apparently it made some listeners cry, and I was surprised before hearing it. Skilled playing can make people cry, sure. Melodies, harmonies, all that stuff, definitely. The open instrument itself? If you just eyeballed bowing a cello you'd drive people far away, I'd reckon. I certainly would.
But I saw a clip of it in action, I can definitely see it now.

They called the instrument Fron2. A new Canadian musical instrument!

So, dad’s wanting some ‘proof’ that the goblins in Harry Potter are an analog of Jews… asked for some credible arguments and/or proof since he doesn’t seem to take my interpretations seriously much, if ever (I still love the man, and he is willing to learn, so no vitriol!).
If anyone’s willing to provide either some arguments for, or against, or links to posts or articles about this comparison, it would be fantastic.
My short term memory is not the best, and my long term is hit or miss due to health issues, but having links, articles, arguments to refer to help me a lot.
Dad’s not a bad dude. He just doesn’t think as critically of fiction as our generation(s) do. He’s way-tail end of boomers, sorta Generation ‘Jones’ (it’s a thing!) along with my mother so you get the sort of standards of proof I need. Though as a Canadian and with his general personality, he’s much better at admitting when he can be wrong.
Thanks!

We gotta stop aiming for unique and interesting baby names we gotta start naming every single infant straight-shot middle-of-the-road ass popular common unisex names like Alex and Sam. By the end of 2031 I wanna see 100% of kindergarten children named either Alex or Sam and you know what, let’s make ‘em all Smiths and Johnsons, too. In an age of digital tracking give your baby the gift of total functional anonymity within the panopticon

I am slowly losing my mind over the shift towards video as the default media format.
I do not find this to be an efficient way to absorb information. I am bored and distracted by the time the largely unnecessary introduction is over. I can't use ctrl+f to find the specific information I'm looking for. If there are instructions to follow, I don't want to have to constantly pause and back up to the part I need.
At least give me a fucking transcript.

i know there’s more than this out there but it really is incredible that people will look at a fictional character someone else wrote and collectively say “I will write you a hundred happy endings.”
