I LOVE READING BOOKS SO MUCHHH!!! this is probably the hardest ask I've ever received, I'm someone who doesn't easily give 5 stars to a book, but I love every one that I read in a different way, so, here we go:
3. My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel;
2. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller;
1. Jantar Secreto by Raphael Montes (Brazilian book).

📖 A Little Life
✍️ Hanya Yanagihara
5/5⭐️ 5/5😭
💭📝 THOUGHTS:
I am at a loss of words to describe how to feel about this book. Personally this was not just a book. This was a life story and a love letter. A complete bomb dropped at my feet. A world and perspective changer.
The impact this book had on my way to see life, and friendships, and family, and people — was tremendous.
It was not easy to read it. It was pretty rough, at times I had to put it down because it was taking a toll on me.
I dived head first into it without really knowing what I was getting myself into and I feel… transformed.
These characters were so smartly and amazingly written, I felt their pain, I felt their happiness, I felt their numbness, I felt their losses. I had no idea I could love someone I will never meet. This love was the type of love that’s possessive. I hope to never forget them. I hope to always remember how Jude — despite everything that he went through — found a way to live life until he didn’t; how Willem loved everybody unconditionally — specially Judy — and never stopped reaching out his hand and being kind and loving and understanding; how Malcolm was so attentive to the little details that he always made sure everybody around him was okay; how JB went through highs and lows but never gave up on trying to be better; how Harold was an extraordinary man that despite his faults and imperfections never stopped trying; and how Andy always protected Judy and never gave up on him.
This book is not just a book but an experience. I could talk forever about how I feel about it but I think it is personal. It might be different for someone else. It will touch you and your life and it will mean something to you.
Before you dive into it though, consider the triggers it comes with: self-harm; su*cide; SA; abuse; prost*tution; r*pe; trauma.
This is not something to read lightly! Please be careful with your mental health! ❤️

| Littérature: L'attrape-cœurs (1951) - J.D Salinger |
The Catcher in the Rye roman de J.D.
“If they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do it, and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off.”

Love on the brain by Ali Hazelwood is the second book I had read by the author. I was keen to read this romcom, so I try to read this one in English and It was a success. And this is the reason for this review is writing in English. (Sorry for this, I need to practice)
What it is about? Bee Königswasser is a neuroscientist, one of the leading scientists in his field. Her life changes when NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project. In her new job, she meets up again with Levi, an old university acquaintance. He hates her. Bee is sure. Thus began an odd collaboration marked by fainting, weird things begin to occur, sex attraction, a cat and misunderstanding. A funny romcom with a little mystery.
I like Love on the brain more than The Love Hypothesis. I love de last one, but Bee and her obsession with Marie Curie is so interesting. Hazelwood offers us a story with many possibilities and more than one reading. Some of the topics are: mental health, academic world, personal fears, non-traditional family, the uncertain future or grieving process. The comedy is a chaotic destiny of love. The situations mixed the severity of this issues with great dialogues, irreverent situations —stories of Marie Curie, cats, amazing dresses, conferences, one room...
This novel is addictive, funny and the main characters are so sweet. I love the relationship. Bee and Levi have chemical. They past and present have a complicated story. The author resolved the plot with introspection, daringness and science. It’s a great combination. I want to read he next novel!

"In the future... if by some miracle you ever find yourself in the position to fall in love again... fall in love with me."
Finally, I did it. I have read the most popular book that broke TikTok.
It ends with us.
With a few little spoilers, I am going to tell you that this is one of the most romantic and terrifying stories that I have read in the last year. And believe me, I read a lot. It keeps you captivated with each chapter and envelops you with tears, passion, anger, and relief.
I read it in less than two days because I also had to sleep. Although, I could have kept going and read it all in the same day. So…
It ends with us tells the story of a twenty-three-year-old girl, Lily Bloom, who was stuck between feelings for her long-lost first love and a new man she couldn’t get out of her mind. She enters a relationship with a gorgeous surgeon, despite the fact that she fears she will never see her first love again. Unfortunately, the twist happened when she least expected it. Her new love turns out to be a monster, and her first love is still waiting to have her back. Thus, Lily struggles to break the cycle of domestic violence in her life and help her soulmate fight his own demons. But nothing is so easy… especially when you're sucked back into the memories of the ideal first t love.
Don’t let me tell you more, although spoilers are inevitable.
PS: If you can’t find the book, I am here to share my PDF version with you.
Enjoy the reading!

Le Dame di Grace Adieu e altre storie
Scheda informativa
Titolo originale: The Ladies of Grace Adieu Autore: Susanna Clarke Editore: Fazi Editore Prima edizione: ottobre 2022 Pagine: 270 Prezzo: € 10,00
Trama

It is not flesh and blood, but the heart which makes us fathers and sons. - „The Robbers” (Die Räuber) by Friedrich Schiller
Selenio (⚜️ 9.2 / 10) I have decided to pick something rather pivotal for my very first book review. (And also to preface this: have no fear, not all of them will be as verbose as this one…) However, I think that one of Schiller’s most famous works, “The Robbers” might not be as well-known and established in the non-german-speaking world as it is here. In Austrian, Swiss, or German schools…

Guest review by J. Re Crivello: PRESENT TENSE by John Yamrus
For more than 5 decades John Yamrus has been a fixture on the small press poetry scene, and now, with the release of PRESENT TENSE, his 40th book, he shows that he remains at the top of his game. Yamrus, long known as a master of minimalism and the neo-noir in modern poetry, brings his skills to a slim new book of 19 poems that range in length from a few words to a few pages, with each one…

short review of everything I've read in August
I'm (basically) on vacation and I'm actually surprised & proud of myself for the amount I read this past month 😸
Nature / Ralph Waldo Emerson
I'm not really an essays person. This book certainly made me think and the writing was lowkey beautiful, but it was also dense and confusing and I think my knowledge of antebellum america & transcendentalism is just not sufficient enough to have read this. 2.25 stars
Hard Times / Charles Dickens
I'm kind of surprised at how much I enjoyed it. This is a book about a man who raises his children to only consider fact and reason, and toss aside fancy and feelings and, obviously, that fucks them up for life. I read Great Expectations and liked it a lot but this book made me get why Dickens's become so famous. This book was funny, an interesting critique and the characters felt real. 4.25 stars.
Piranesi / Susanna Clarke
I went into this book expecting a cute magical journey like The Starless Sea and instead got more of a horror story and I really liked it. Nothing could have prepared me for the way the story unfolds, although once I read it I wasn't surprised by anything much. Still, the writing was beautiful and made it impossible to put the book down. 4 stars.
Northanger Abbey / Jane Austen
I'll confess that I didn't need really like Pride & Prejudice but I loved this book. I think it's because back then my english reading skills weren't good enough. I liked Catherine, I liked reading about 19th century england life and I liked the drama, and I'm definitely going to reread so I could better explain what I liked about it. 4.5 stars.
The House In The Cerulean Sea / TJ Klune
I tried to give this book a fair chance, since it's been sitting on my shelf for years, but man was it boring. Everything is so surface level, Linus's life is ridiculously bad and the stakes were unbearably low. The children were cute tho and for most of the book I wanted to keep reading because I was intrigued (though not enjoying). But once Arthur's secret was discovered in a dramatic, twilight-esque dialogue, there was nothing interesting about this book. 2 stars.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer / Mark Twain
Ok I finished this yesterday but this is still an August read for me. It was fun, I really liked the ending. 3.5 stars.

ARC REVIEW!
Bad Publicity - Bianca Gillam
A love letter to the dualities of human relationships
This book was not what I anticipated and I mean that in the very best of ways. As someone who enjoys a good love story and as a former aspiring publicist, this book caught my eye as an “easy read” and I couldn’t be happier to have been proven wrong. I laughed and cried and contemplated throughout this short but bittersweet journey through the dualities of human relationships, ranging from friendship to familial to romantic, including the complex spectrum of experience that comes with those relationships: love and loss, hurt and forgiveness, grief and growth, and all the nuances in between. As someone who likes my characters imperfect with room to grow throughout their journey, Jack and Andie were delightfully “human” and I found myself rooting for them throughout. I can’t wait to read more books by Bianca going forward.

My Reflections on The Perfect Journey by Dr. Partha Protim Banerjee
As I delved into The Perfect Journey by Dr. Partha Protim Banerjee, I found myself captivated by the depth and insight it offers into the pressing issue of corporate intolerance. Banerjee’s personal experiences, particularly the story of his daughter seeking equality within an American multinational company, provide a poignant backdrop that resonates deeply with anyone navigating workplace dynamics today.
The book stands out for its multidisciplinary approach, seamlessly blending sociology, psychology, and organizational behavior to unpack the complexities of intolerance in the corporate world. Banerjee doesn’t just identify problems; he ventures into the root causes, encouraging readers to understand the intricate relationship between individual behaviors and organizational policies. This holistic perspective is crucial for anyone looking to foster a more inclusive environment.
One of the most compelling aspects of The Perfect Journey by Dr. Partha P Banerjee is its focus on actionable solutions. Rather than merely outlining the issues of intolerance, Banerjee actively engages with transformative strategies that empower individuals at all levels. His vision for reshaping corporate culture around inclusivity and justice is not only inspiring but also pragmatic. It challenges corporate leaders and policy-makers to rethink the very frameworks through which diversity is addressed.
Banerjee's work serves as a clarion call to cultivate workplaces where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated. He urges us to embed inclusivity into the organizational fiber, making it a natural part of our corporate identity. This makes The Perfect Journey a must-read for anyone invested in understanding and promoting a healthy corporate culture.
In conclusion, The Perfect Journey is more than just a critical analysis; it’s a roadmap for change. Dr. Banerjee’s blend of personal narrative and scholarly insight makes it a vital resource for those committed to building equitable and inclusive business environments. If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of corporate culture and play a part in fostering inclusivity, this book is an invaluable companion on your journey.
