Spider Bo Spider Bo Does Whatever A Spider Bo Does
Chapter 1
Bo stretched as they crawled out of bed. Sorcha was cooking, they could smell it. They did their morning routine and got dressed in a nice suit, combing their hair before coming downstairs.
“Cooking pancakes?” They asked.
Sorcha looked over, his twin chuckling as she shoved a plate in their hand and threw a pancake in it. She plated her own and the two sat down at the kitchen table.
“You look nice.” Sorcha said as she bit into a pancake.
“Got a job interview.”
“Already?”
“Yeah. It’s that science lab. They need a secretary.” Bo ate a quarter of their pancake in one bite.
“Doesn’t seem your style.”
“Jobs are my style. Especially if it’s not fast food…tired of coming home smelling like nuggets. Plus this pays more.”
She nodded. “When do you have to be there?”
“An hour. Can I take the car?”
“Better than a skateboard.”
They shoved the rest of the food in their mouth and saluted as they grabbed the keys and walked out the door.
The drive over was uneventful except for seeing a possum cross the road before leaving their neighborhood. They named the possum Frank.
They parked in the building parking lot known as Blackwood industries.
They carefully combed down their hair and adjusted their suit. They took a deep breath before getting out of the car.
The lab was nice, walls covered with different scientists with different projects Bo had never heard of. There was a woman sitting at a desk typing something. Her nametag read Lillian.
“excuse me.”
She looked up.
“I’m looking for Mr. Harker. Im here for the job interview.”
She smiled. “Third floor, two doors down from the elevator.” She pointed to it in the corner.
“Thank you.”
Lillian nodded, going back to her work.
Bo took the elevator up. It opened into a lab space where there were people working on different projects.
Bo looked around in wonder and then someone crashed into them, knocking them to the ground.
They blushed as they looked up at a handsome man. Around their age, dark skin, braided hair, bright blue eyes.
“Oh my god.” He said, and Bo could see that reddish tint on his face as well. “I-I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean-I-Um”
Bo chuckled. “I-Its okay. Um…could you get up?”
“I-Yes I’m sorry.” He pulled himself off the floor and then offered Bo a hand who took it and was pulled up. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Im fine.”
“M-My names Link.” He held out his hand to shake. Bo took it.
“Bo. Um are you-“
“Mx Caldwell.”
The two looked over. Mr. Harker was standing there.
“Oh. Hello.” Bo smiled nervously. “I’m sorry I bumped into-“
“I saw the whole thing. Mr. Herrons, please go back to work. We have an interview to conduct in my lab.”
“Sorry sir. Nice meeting you Bo.”
Bo smiled and walked Link walk off.
“Come along.”
Bo followed Mr. Harker through the lab space into a private office area. Bo looked around.
The space was filled with spiders. They all had habitats along the walls and seemed to be well fed.
“This is my passion project. Spiders are amazing creatures. Most of my experiments are about understanding these creatures. As I saw, you met Mr. Herrons, he’s based a few experiments off electricity.”
“That’s so cool.”
“As my secretary you’d keep track of all my calls, schedule meetings and appointments, and be the go between for me and the other scientists who work under me.”
“That doesn’t sound bad.”
Bo’s leg felt itchy. They resisted the urge to scratch it.
“Your off days would be Thursday through Saturday, 4 weeks of paid vacation…I read through your resume. It’s very impressive.”
Bo blushed. “I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, sir.”
“During highschool you interned under your uncle, Damien Caldwell is that correct?”
Bo nodded. “I didn’t want this job because of him.”
“I contacted your uncle.” He continued. “He gave me a glowing review…you helped him figure out how to make a similar serum to a spiders web. Strong enough to hold a person. While it’s still in the works your work on that project was a turning point…why didn’t you pursue it?”
Bo swallowed hard. They had expected all the normal interview questions but not this.
“I…me and my sister needed to put food on the table and get a roof over our heads. Didn’t have time, I guess.”
“I understand. I would love to have you on my team.”
The itching was up their back now. They tried not to squirm.
“Really?”
“As both a secretary and consultant. One good internship doesn’t make a scientist, but your creative way of thinking would be a valuable asset.”
Something sharp hit the back of Bos neck. Bo yelled, making Mr. Harkens raise an eyebrow.
“Ahh I’m so excited!” They said, then rubbed their neck. Their fingers brushed against something which fell off in a second. They smiled nervously.
“Great to hear it. Mx. Caldwell, welcome to Blackwood industries.”
The two shook hands.
“You start in two weeks. Get all your affairs in order. You’ll be sent an email for all your bank information.”
“T-Thank you sir.”
He nodded. “Have a good day.”
Bo smiled and left the room, grinning.
Mr. Harker saw a spider on the table. He offered a hand to it and it crawled up his arm to his shoulder. He smiled.
Bo walked back through the hallway.
“Hey. How’d it go?” Link looked over.
Bo smiled. “I got the job.”
“Tha-That’s great.”
“…do you always stutter?”
Link chuckled. “only around certain people.”
Bo smiled a bit, then swallowed hard. It felt like a knot had formed in their throat.
“you alright?”
The lights were so bright. They blinked hard as the sounds of the building suddenly rushed to their ears. Every air conditioner, electrical outlet, even cars outside.
“Bo?”
They looked up at Link and the world swam. “I…don’t feel good.”
They didn’t know how but they ended up in links arms.
“You’re burning up.”
Their mouth went dry.
“I’m gonna take you home.”
“C-Call Sorcha.”
Their hands felt wet and clammy as they handed him their phone. Something was wrong. They breathed shakily.
They didn’t process much after that. The world was blurred. One moment they were in their car, Link saying something they didn’t process the next they were being carried into a hospital. The next Sorcha holding their hand as an IV went into their system.
Then everything went dark.
“Bo...Bo!”
They were in an endless expanse of darkness. They looked around. Who was calling their name? They sounded so far away.
“Bo!”
The voice was unfamiliar but comforting.
“Who are you?” Bo called.
“Bo!” The voice repeated. “I can’t see you.”
“Hello?”
Bo saw a flash of light in the distance. They started heading towards it.
“I can’t see you.”
Bo started running as the light became brighter. “Who are you!?”
Bo gasped awake.
“Bo!”
They looked over and saw Sorcha. She smiled in relief. “I’m glad you’re awake.”
“Chacha, where are we?”
“Hospital. Your friend took you here, and called me.”
“…Who?”
“Hey.” They looked over and saw link who was holding sodas and snacks. “Youre awake.”
Bo nodded. “How long…”
“A week. The doctors didn’t know what was wrong with you though.”
Bo stared at him. “…You stayed?”
Link nodded.
They blinked hard, their head starting to pound.
“Lets get a doctor in here.” Sorcha said.
It was two full days of testing and monitoring before they were allowed to go home. Link and Sorcha there to keep them company.
Finally they were allowed to go home when the headaches and pain subsided and the doctors said everything was back to normal.
Sorcha kept a close eye on them as they came back into the house.
“Are you sure you’re feeling okay?”
“ChaCha, I’m fine.” Bo chuckled. “Now it’s my night to cook dinner. Are you gonna hover over me the whole time or am I gonna have to lock you in your room?”
Sorcha rolled her eyes. “Fine. But if anything goes wrong I’m taking over.”
Bo rolled their eyes as they walked into their room, going to change.
They pulled off their shirt as they looked in the mirror. Then paused.
Did they have some muscle?
Bo felt their arm and found that yes, they had some. Which was weird cause they never exercised in their life.
“The hell?”
“Bo uncle damiens on the phone!” Sorcha called.
Bo threw on a clean shirt and ran to the kitchen.
“How they doing?” Damien asked from the other side.
“Oh you can ask them yourself.” Sorcha grinned and handed Bo the phone. They glared at her a bit before speaking.
“Hey.”
“Hey kiddo. I heard you got the job. How you feeling?”
“Im completely fine. The doctors said so. Probably just too many over night shifts in a row.”
“Well im excited to see you put that brain to good use. It’s about time.”
“…You didn’t pull any strings, did you?”
“Other than giving you a glowing review, all of which was true, no. That’s all you kiddo.”
“Thanks. Why don’t you come over for dinner tomorrow? We’ll make your favorite.”
“How could I say no? I’ll see you two then. I love you.”
“Love you!” both Sorcha and Bo said before hanging up.
“…You look freaked out.” Sorcha said, raising an eyebrow.
“…I have muscles.”
Sorcha gave them a confused look.
Bo pulled off their shirt, letting it fall. Or at least they tried to. It stuck to their hand. They shook it, trying to get it off.
“That isn’t funny.”
“Its stuck.” Bo used their other hand to try and pull it off only to find that, that hand was stuck. “What the hell!?”
“Don’t rip that shirt.”
“you try getting it off then.”
Sorcha rolled her eyes and grabbed the shirt, tugging, only to discover she couldn’t pull it off either. “Okay what the fuck.”
“That’s what I’m saying!”
Sorcha grabbed onto the edges of the shirt. “on three. One…two…three!”
The two pulled apart and Bo stumbled back and onto the wall, their hands sticking to it. “Huh.”
“What?”
Bo smiled and climbed up the wall, onto the ceiling.
Sorcha screamed.

Brotherhood of Steel
Oh, wow, this one's been languishing for like six months, sorry about that. Anyway the show is inspiring me to revisit this question- Anyway, one thing about the Brotherhood of steel- I think that to an extent, the Brotherhood in general suffers from the same kind of problem as Iron Man, where their out-of-universe popularity, star power, and resultant shoehorning into installments where they absolutely don't belong, all serve to elide that the actual text of even the Bethesda-produced Fallouts aren't particularly gung-ho about the Brotherhood as an organization.
I think the buzz around them, the misaimed-fandom they accrue and the resultant back-and-forth in all the discursive spaces, sort of primes you to expect a humanity-fuck-yeah sort of attitude in the source text. But in the games themselves, it's really only that Fallout 3 that positions the Brotherhood as straightforward quote-unquote "good guys," and paying even a little attention to the subtext demonstrates that that's an extremely tenuous and conditional status. Half of their guys started their own Brotherhood with blackjack and hookers because Lyons was too nice! Lyons got sent east in the first place because he was too nice! The guy they left behind in Pittsburg rebuilt the entire local economy as a slave society! Many of Lyons nominal "supporters" are at least quietly grumbling about his priorities when you talk to them, they're clearly itching to collapse back into a comfortable authoritarianism- which, of course, they do, come Fallout 4. Their turn in that direction was completely telegraphed by 3. And 4, which admittedly had a lot of mixed-messaging on this point, telegraphed.... whatever the fuck they've become in the TV show. Which is interesting, right, because if you're even remotely media-literate, it's impossible to view the TV version of the Brotherhood as anything remotely good. We're introduced with a hazing ritual, a panning shot of child-soldiers sharing a cigarette, meatheads playing a game of brickball, an Elder who screams "cult leader," a brotherhood knight who's framed as this monstrous, inhuman presence during Maximus's interrogation. The branding scene, the abuse of squires. And then they go from oppressive to pathetic- Titus dying like a chump, Thaddeus being the world's chew toy, a half-dozen Brotherhood knights existing as suitably impressive target practice for the Ghoul in a big showdown.
By volume, this is going to be most people's first introduction to the Brotherhood as an organization. This is what the Brotherhood is now, for all intents and purposes. I think they've basically poisoned the well on using the Brotherhood as a straightforwardly heroic faction ever again, and moreover it's adjusted my perception of whether even Bethesda ever understood them as such in the first place. It's still a complete worldbuilding kludge that they're on the East Coast at all, but I find myself wondering if hammering the Brotherhood into a suitably powerful antagonistic faction wasn't the long-term project here the whole time; if so, the obvious criticism from there is that the Brotherhood was a still a weird pick to evolve into that role, given their initial status in the first two games as a handful of overinflated bunker-dwelling pricks kept in a position of comparative superiority only by the failure of everyone else to play catch-up. Whatever, it can be made to work.
#Fallout tactics is in a weird spot here RE it's portrayal of the Brotherhood- refer to the Noah-Caldwell-gervais video on that point#fallout#fallout 3#fallout 4#fallout new vegas#fallout tv#fallout show#thoughts#meta#ask#asks#analysis#BoS#Brotherhood of steel#fallout 2#fotv#fallout amazon

"THE FUGITIVE" (1993) Review
"THE FUGITIVE" (1993) Review
During a period between the late 1980s and the 2000s, Hollywood released a good number of film adaptations of successful or not-so-successful television shows. This is ironic, considering the television industry tend to do the opposite. One of those film adaptations of TV shows happened to be the 1993 action thriller, "THE FUGITIVE".
Based on the ABC 1963-1967 television series that starred David Janssen, "THE FUGITIVE" told the story of prominent Chicago vascular surgeon Dr. Richard Kimble, who is accused and convicted of murdering his wealthy wife. The movie began with Kimble arriving home from a fund-raising event and later, a surgery, to find his wife murdered. He then struggled with her killer, a one-arm man who yet to make his escape. Despite his efforts to inform the Chicago Police about the one-arm man, the latter charged Kimble with his wife's murder. Following his conviction and death sentence, Kimble found himself being transported to prison on a bus. A few of Kimble's fellow prisoners attempted an escape. In the pandemonium, two prisoners and the driver were killed; and the bus rolled down a ravine and into the path of an oncoming train. Kimble saved a guard, escaped the on-coming collision, and fled as the train derailed. Hours later, U.S. Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard and his colleagues arrived at the crash site and launched a massive manhunt that started in the Illinois countryside ended up back in Chicago. Upon his arrival in the city, Kimble started his own manhunt for his wife's one-arm killer.
I have never seen the 1963-1967 series that starred David Janssen. But I have heard and read so much about it over the years. I am aware of a few differences between the series and the movie. Whereas the latter began with Helen Kimble's death, the television series began with Kimble already on the run for six months. Sam Gerard was a U.S. Marshal in the film. Philip Gerard was a local police detective, obsessed with finding Kimble. Which made me wonder how he was able to track Kimble all over the country for four years without losing his job. The television series featured members of both Kimble and Gerard's families, whereas the movie only featured the pair's colleagues - past and present. And so on.
After years of watching movies, I came to the realization that I have never seen a perfect movie. "THE FUGITIVE" was certainly not one. As much as I like the Richard Kimble character, there were times when he came off as a little too ideal for my taste. He came dangerously close to being a Gary Stu - especially in those scenes featuring Gerard and his team's interrogations of Kimble's old medical colleagues. How can I put this? The Richard Kimble character struck me as so ideal that in the end, he did not really develop as a character. How could he? He seemed so perfect from beginning to the end. Unlike his television counterpart, the cinematic Kimble was also blessed with a happy marriage before her death. Kimble's counterpart was the U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard. Unlike Kimble, Gerard proved to be a more complex character who possessed a ruthless streak that bordered on brutality sometimes. Especially when it came to the welfare of the deputy marshals assigned to his team. He also possessed a sharp wit that blended with sarcasm. But like Kimble, Gerard also possessed an unrelenting steak that leads him to maintain focused on his goal. And like Kimble, Gerard never really developed as a character. Now many might find my last observation hard to swallow, considering that Gerard realized that Kimble was an innocent man. So what if Gerard had finally realized that Kimble was innocent? He was never the investigator for the Kimble case in the first place. Gerard's task was to simply hunt down Kimble, who was a fugitive of the law, and return him to jail. Which he did in the end. Only he learned that Kimble was an innocent man along the way. But this discovery did not change or develop his character. After all, it was up to the Chicago Police to realize Kimble was innocent. Yet, the two original police investigators had refused to acknowledge Kimble's innocence and their mistake right up to the bitter end.
Also, a part of me wondered whether Richard Kimble or his wife Helen had relatives in Chicago. My one last complaint about "THE FUGITIVE" centered around at least two action sequences. One involved the collision between the prison bus conveying Kimble and a freight train. I was amazed that so many of the occupants inside that bus managed to survive, especially Kimble who had lingered inside longer to care for a wounded prison guard. The other action sequence that left me scratching my head was Kimble's swan dive from a dam spillover. Perhaps it was plausible for him to survive such a dive. Unfortunately, I cannot see that happening . . . even to this day. I wish that screenwriters Jeb Stuart and David Twohy, along with Andrew Davies, had used another way for Kimble to evade Gerard. Something a bit more plausible.
For a movie based on an old television series from the 1960s, "THE FUGITIVE" proved to be first-rate. That is correct. I enjoyed this film very much. In fact, I more than enjoyed it. I thought Stuart, Twohy and Davies had created a very satisfying movie filled with top-notch action, a solid mystery involving the killer's identity, intelligence and deep emotion.
Although I believed the sequences featuring the prison bus/train collision and Kimble's leap from a dam spillover bordered on the implausibility, I certainly had no problems with the film's other action sequences. In fact, I especially enjoyed three in particular - the chase sequence through downtown Chicago on St. Patrick's Day, Kimble's encounter with the one-arm man aboard a Chicago El-train and especially the final sequence that featured both Kimble and Gerard's confrontation with the real culprit behind Helen Kimble's murder. Andrew Davis did a great job in directing these sequences, filling them with breathless tension.
The 1960s television series had mainly focused on Kimble evading the police and finding the one-arm man's whereabouts. I had no problems with this. Once the cinematic Kimble had made his way back to Chicago, he started off doing the same. But thanks to screenwriters Jeb Stuart and David Twohy, the film featured an additional twist that allowed the one-armed killer to be a part of a bigger conspiracy involving a pharmaceutical company and new drug called Provasic that Kimble had failed to approve, because it caused liver damage. During Kimble's search for the one-armed man and his investigation of the mystery behind his false conviction, I felt pleased that the movie also delved into his continuing grief over his wife's death via flashbacks. These brief moments reminded audiences that Kimble was more than an action man trying to prove his innocence. He was a man still grieving over the death of his wife. Another aspect of "THE FUGITIVE" was its portrayal of Tommy Lee Jones and his team of U.S. Marshals. Unlike the ABC series, which almost portrayed the Philip Gerard character as a modern version of Inspector Javert of "LES MISERABLES" in Les Misérables - relentless and obsessive in pursuit of his prey; U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard seemed to lack the obsession of his television and literary counterparts. Which I personally found refreshing. Well, Gerard is relentless in this film, but only in a cool and professional manner. And thanks to Stuart and Twohy's screenplay, along with Tommy Lee Jones' performance, Gerard conducted his assignment with a dry and sarcastic wit.
I might as well discuss the cast's performances. What can I say? There did not seemed to be a false step among any of them. The movie boasted some first-rate supporting performances from the likes of Ron Dean, Joseph Kosala, Nick Searcy, Eddie Bo Smith, Dick Cusack, David Darlow, Kirsten Nelson, Neil Flynn, Andy Romano and Richard Riehle. This movie marked the first time I saw Julianne Moore in any motion picture, and I thought she gave a sharp performance as a hospital physician nearly overwhelmed by a crisis. Both Jane Lynch and John M. Watson Sr. seemed equally sharp as two of Kimble's colleagues and closest friends. In her few scenes, Sela Ward radiated warmth and wit as Kimble's loving wife and murder victim, Helen Kimble. It seemed a pity that she was not featured in more scenes. Andreas Katsulas gave an intelligent, yet sinister performance as Fredrick Sykes aka the One-Arm Man and Helen Kimble's killer. Jeroen Krabbé portrayed another one of Kimble's friends and colleagues, Dr. Charles Nichols, who also believed in the former's innocence. Krabbé injected a "proud father" aura in his performance, as he needled the U.S. Marshals for their failure to capture Kimble and come to the realization of the latter's innocence. I found this aspect of Krabbé's performance very subtle and very entertaining. For me, one of the most entertaining aspects of "THE FUGITIVE" proved to be those who portrayed the deputy marshals who formed Gerard's team. I am referring to L. Scott Caldwell, Daniel Roebuck, Tom Wood, Johnny Lee Davenport and especially Joe Pantoliano. Not only did I enjoy the wit and humor that permeated their interactions with each other, but I also enjoyed their interactions with Tommy Lee Jones' Gerard. In fact, Jones and Pantoliano's scenes proved to be so funny that it seemed as if they had created some kind of comedy team.
I realized I had been a little critical of the Dr. Richard Kimble and U.S. Deputy Marshal Sam Gerard characters. And I stand by my criticism. But I cannot do the same about the two actors that portrayed them. I believe Harrison Ford gave one of his career best performances as the beleaguered surgeon who found himself convicted of murdering his wife. Ford did an excellent job of conveying not only Kimble's grief over his wife's death, but also his desperation to evade the police and U.S. marshals searching for him, and the character's intelligence, while he investigates the one-arm man and the latter's motive behind Helen's death. Sam Gerard seemed like a different kettle of fish in compared to Richard Kimble and Tommy Lee Jones' portrayal of the colorful lawman proved to be one of the film's highlights. Jones managed to infuse a great deal of energy into Gerard's determined search for Kimble, without transforming the character into a copycat of the Javert character from "Les Misérables". Jones' Gerard is a tough and no-nonsense man who would ruthlessly defend members of his team and his slightly extreme form of law enforcement. I am not surprised that Jones managed to snag both acting nominations and awards for his portrayal of Gerard. However, I am astounded that Ford was never nominated.
One can tell how good a movie after so many years had passed. Twenty-nine years have passed since the release of "THE FUGITIVE". It might have a few flaws, but I believe it still holds up after so long. I also believe the movie proved to be just as superb as the 1960s television series it was based on. One can thank Andrew Davis for his energetic and intelligent direction, Jeb Stuart and David Twohy's excellent screenplay; and the superb cast led by Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.

The War Lover (1962)
Basic Story: A Captain and co-pilot pursue the same woman during World War II.
Fan Thoughts: Steve McQueen plays cocky B-17 pilot Buzz Rickson opposite his steadier co-pilot Ed ‘Bo’ Bolland (Robert Wagner) in this film about the early days of the war. Rickson is bold and insubordinate, but always comes home with his crew intact so his crew and superiors let his abrasive attitude slide. While on leave, Rickson and Bolland meet Daphne Caldwell, an Englishwoman and while she is interested in both men she ends up starting a relationship with Bolland. As Bolland’s tour is coming to an end, he makes it clear that his relationship with Caldwell will end when he leaves. Knowing this, Rickson shows up to Caldwell’s flat and attempts to make his move, forcefully. Bo and Rickson return to base and take part in a massive mission, with disastrous consequences for their plane and some of the crew. While the bones of this story have potential, the characters fall flat, with Caldwell suffering the most from a lack of depth and realistic reactions. Rickson could be an interesting, if unsympathetic, character but any attempt to explain his actions is surface level at best. The redeeming quality of this film are the missions, the cinematography and inclusion of archival footage keeping them fast-paced and engaging.
Warnings: injuries shown on screen (non-graphic), abuse of women
Available On: Prime Video, Tubi

TOH MHA AU: Hero Course Class 1-1 Roster
A list of all the members of Luz Noceda’s class, Hero Class 1-1 (Year 1, Class 1); from students to teachers.
Note: All of the characters mentioned here are canon but most do not have last names, or even first names. So I’ll give them names/surnames as i see fit. These are indicated by being in italics.
Note 2: I don’t have Hero Names for all of the characters, so I’m accepting suggestions.
Note 3: Some surnames might be changed if I find better ones.
Homeroom/Heroics Teacher
Raine Whispers - Hero Name: Minstrel Fox - Quirk: Bard; fox heteromorphic traits (ears, tail, and fangs)
Teaching Assistants
All three have Sound Manipulation Quirks.
Katya Fang - Hero Name: Ballad
Fang is obviously a reference to Katya’s fangs.
Ballads are songs that tell stories, some of them romantic, which references her writing romantic fanfics (about food).
Amber Batkin - Hero Name: Echo
Batkin is a reference to Amber’s bat traits; her wings are bigger than in canon so she can fly with them
short for ‘echolocation’ in reference to her bat traits
Derwin Heckel - Hero Name: Bass
Heckel refers to one of two forms of modern bassoon: the Heckel (or German) systems.
Bass is the clef bassoon music is written in.
Students
Luz Noceda - Hero Name: Spellraiser - Quirk: Glyphs
Amity Blight - Hero Name: Hekate - Quirk: Goo Manipulation; cat heteromorphic traits (ears, tail, fangs)
Gus Porter - Hero Name: Illusive - Quirk: Illusions
Willow Park - Hero Name: Dryad - Quirk: Plant Manipulation
Hunter Wittebane - Hero Name: Golden Guard - Quirk: Flash Step
Matt Tholomule - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Earth Manipulation
Boscha Alembic - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Fireball
An Alembic is an alchemical still consisting of two vessels connected by a tube, used for distillation of liquids. It references how Canon Boscha is part of the Potions Track.
Skara Skald - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Sound Manipulation Quirk; I need to work on the specifics
A skald is one of the often named poets who composed skaldic poetry, one of the two kinds of Old Norse poetry.
Amelia Reed - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Something related to plants, but different from Willow’s Quirk.
Reed is a plant name
Cat Herman - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Healing Quirk; I need to work on the specifics
Herman is an alternative spelling of Harman, a reference to Cat’s basis Catherine Harman-Mitchell
Masha Grey - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Premonitions using cards
Grey is a reference to their VA Grey DeLisle
Their Quirk is based on how they used the Hex ‘Em Hold ‘Em cards to give readings.
Skyler Zeno - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Lightning Manipulation
Skyler has sky; Zeno means ‘gift of Zeus.’
Vee’s camp friend, the kid with the striped shirt and glasses
I wanted someone with lightning powers so I picked this person
Their gender seems ambiguous so I’ll make them non-binary and transfeminine. Changed her gender to feminine for reasons.
Ted Osbern - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Manifest a bear-shaped aura of power while their strength, speed and ferocity are enhanced.
Ted as in teddy bear; Osbern means divine bear
Vee’s camp friend, the boy with the purple shirt and hair covering his eyes
Guy seemed so laid-back and chill, I thought a berserker power would be ironic in a fun way
Eileen Arimaspi - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Eye Beams
The Arimaspi were a legendary tribe of one-eyed people of northern Scythia.
She is the Potions Track Girl with one big eye
Bo Caldwell - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Ice/Snow Generation and Manipulation
Caldwell means “cold spring.”
She is a background Healing Track Student
Her Quirk is based on how Bo turned fireballs into snow in the show
Celine Lunaria - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: a sentient Quirk manifesting as a purple specter
Lunaria means ‘moon-like.’
She is the Oracle Track student with the crescent-moon head
Her Quirk is based on how Oracles can summon spirits to fight.
Billie Gyles - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Pick up and send soundwaves through their horn; goat cyclops heteromorphic traits.
Billie is from billy goat (a male goat) thought Billie is a gender-neutral name; Gyles is a variant of Giles which means “young goat.”
Goat Cyclops Bard Student
I’m making them non-binary
Jasper Batkin - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Bat Mutation Quirk, he also has bat wings on his back in this AU; affinity for bats
I’m making him Amber’s cousin, so he has the same surname and a gem-based first name like her
He is Skara’s Grom Date/Beat-Keeping Track Bat Kid
Mary Goldhorn - Hero Name: Little Lamb - Quirk: Weresheep Transformation
Goldhorn is a legendary ibex from Slovene folklore.
Ram-Horned Abomination Track Girl
I gave her the weresheep transformation cause I thought it would be a funny idea.
Spike Fisher - Hero Name: N/A - Quirk: Water Manipulation; pufferfish heteromorphic traits, his spikes are poisonous, but the poison isn’t fatal, it will just temporarily paralyze someone.
His name is a pun on ‘spiky fish.’
Spiky Abomination Track Boy
Gave him water manipulation cause Abomination goo is fluid.

Spider Bo Spider Bo Does Whatever A Spider Bo Does
Chapter 4
They sped as fast as they could towards the lab. They wished they could go faster but the city was a pain in the ass to get through.
They finally made it close enough. They parked their car far away to make sure that no one knew it was theirs. They put on the mask, despite the stupidity of it. They pulled up their hood and hoped no one would recognize them.
They got out of the car and ran towards the action.
They first heard gunshots. Police, no doubt.
Bo snuck forward, careful not to give themselves away as they looked up.
“Where is Caldwell?” An electronic voice called.
The man in a blue mask, hooded and covered in some odd kind of suit and gloves, floated on a board. He shot electricity towards the hostages he had below him, trapped by a sort of electrical cage coming from the board. The hostages screamed, covering their heads. Bo looked over and saw their uncle get out of the car, making himself known despite police trying to pull him back.
“I’m here. I’m here. What do you want?” Damien held his hands up in the air, showing he had no weapons.
“No, no.” Bo mumbled. They watched as the two looked at each other.
“Where is the serum?”
Damien twitched. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Youre lying.”
Bo frowned. He was going to get himself killed. Or someone else.
“Lets try this again.” He floated down, and grabbed a man, hand lighting up with electricity as he moved it towards his neck. “Serum, or he dies.”
Bo had to do something. Whatever this Serum was, it had to be important. They moved and crawled up the side of the building. Maybe they could tackle the guy.
“The fuck is that?” an officer called out.
Shit.
They climbed up the rest of the building, perching on the edge. Everyone was staring at them, including the masked person. He hadn’t dropped the hostage but it was something.
“…Who are you?” The guy asked.
“…Shit I didn’t think of a name. Uh, I’m here to stop you, guy!”
The man dropped his hostage, leaving him scrambling back to the others. The villain laughed.
“Is that so? With a cat mask on your face?”
Bo blushed under the mask. “Shut it. Leave these people alone.”
“This doesn’t concern you. Leave before I kill you. Actually-“
A bolt of electricity was shot out of the man’s hand and Bo dodged quickly, their senses activating in the knick of time. The villain was suddenly in front of them and threw a punch. They got hit and were thrown to the ground, him on top of them.
They kicked him in the stomach, making him roll. They saw the electric cage flicker. They just needed to distract him enough for the hostages to escape.
They saw a glimmer of something metal and saw that he had pulled a knife. Then it lit up with lightning.
“You bring a knife to a fist fight? How rude!”
They managed to dodge the knife as it hurled towards them. He shot electricity at them with his other hand. They were doing flips they didn’t know they could do to dodge.
“Stop it!” The man said. “Stand still and let me hit you.”
“Why the hell would I do that?”
They got shot in the shoulder. They yelled as electricity shot through their veins.
“That’s why.”
They breathed heavily for a moment, and then got up. The man looked confused, the cage flickering once more.
“You should be unconscious.”
Bo chuckled. “Cool. Super healing.” And they punched him in the face.
He stumbled backwards and the cage disappeared, the hostages running to the police. The man scowled.
“Just answer me one thing.” Bo said. “What serum were you looking for?”
“heh. Fight me again, and you might just find out.”
He summoned his board, and flew away. Bo shook their hand which was probably bruised. Everyone on ground level stared at them. They paused for a long moment, then jumped off the roof, and into the trees, hoping they could find their car.
..
It took an hour to find it. But they finally made it. They jumped into their car and pulled off the mask, looking at themselves in the mirror. A black eye. They were sweating like crazy. They pulled off their jacket and gloves, pumping the air conditioner.
They looked at their phone. A message from Uncle Damien.
“Hey kiddos. I’m alright. Everyone is okay. I’m going to the hospital with some of my people and making sure they’re okay. And Bolo, I think I saw your Spiderman. He saved a lot of people. Tell him thank you. And when you see him again, tell him I have a present for him.”
Bo smiled softly. Despite the accidental misgendering it made Bo happy that he was okay.
They got back to the house, grabbing the clothes and throwing them in the laundry bin by the door.
“I’m back.”
Sorcha came out from the kitchen, holding first aid equipment. “you got electrocuted. Take your shirt off.”
“Sorcha I ca-“
“Did it sound like a request?”
Bo sighed and pulled off their shirt. Sorcha frowned at the burn marks already healing on their body. Their shoulder, down their spine was covered in a electrical burn.
“Yikes, Bo.”
“I’m perfectly fine. Black eye and a good burn but I’m okay.”
She frowned as she pulled them into the kitchen, making them sit backwards so she could probably clean their back.
“I saw the whole thing on the news. That was really dangerous.”
“…I saved a lot of people.”
“Yeah you did… You need a better mask.”
“you gave me the stupid cat mask.”
“Im gonna make a suit for you. And I won’t be taking no for an answer.”
Bo sighed. “…can I at least decide on the colors?”
“yep.”
Bo chuckled. “…Thanks chacha. I’ll help pay for it.”
“You better with that swanky new job.”
“Swanky?”
“it’s a fun word.”
Bo chuckled, then winced at a spot she hit, not quite healed yet.
“You have to be more careful next time.”
“Who says there’s going to be a-ow!” Bo bit their lip at Sorcha hitting another part that hadn’t healed over.
“Sorry…I can see you healing. Its kind of amazing. But dangerous with any dirt that hasn’t been cleaned…you could get sick.”
“Sorcha...” Bo sighed.
“Im just worried…I can’t protect you out there. I cant lose you.”
Bo turned to look at her. “Sorcha. You won’t lose me.”
She stopped, hands dropping to her sides. She didn’t look at them. “How do you know?” she asked in a small voice.
Bo stood, pulling her into a hug. “Because even if I die, I will haunt you for the rest of your life.”
She hugged them carefully. “promise?”
“I promise.”
..
Link woke up at home. His chest hurt bad.
He got out of bed, going to the restroom to look in the mirror.
He had a huge black purple and green bruise on his chest. Shaped like two feet. The fuck?
He checked the time. 9 pm. Last thing he remembered he…
…he…
He hard blinked. What was he thinking about? His stomach growled. Time to make some dinner, he guessed.
His phone buzzed. Bo was texting him.
“Hey we still on for dinner tomorrow night?”
Right he was supposed to go to the store today to pick out food. He’d have to do it tomorrow.
“Yeah. Any allergies or dislikes I should know about?”
“I’m slightly allergic to sesame seeds but that’s about it.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah. Gives me a rash but nothing life ending.”
“Well I’ll keep those out of whatever I make.”
“Thanks. I’m gonna bake something. Any allergies for you?”
“Nope. Bake to your hearts content.”
Bo sent a thumbs up, making Link chuckle. He put down his phone and started cooking dinner.

Watch "Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) Trailer #1 | Movieclips Classic Trailers" on YouTube
youtube
The announcer sounds strange he is strange it is Tonmmy f. There are a few people who die in the motion picture well on screen. And we think that they might actually die it's the person on the cover here and it is his wife. A lot of people don't recognize them that's some things that the lady is the one from Chicago PD and that is who she is and they calling her Leah like the song but she's famous okay she's a big figurehead in her realm and in the entire realm actually she's a famous person for and her name is Madame Curie. And he is her husband's from the show. And it's her brother and she doesn't stay with him as much as other sisters and she found having smarter kids was better and that's why and she can be very pretty and look like someone we know and that's another thing Tommy f is trying to say and she also got big ones in the desert and even Preston sort of fell for her look and she had kind of a falling from Grace and she didn't really come on to our son and she's saying some weird stuff. He didn't know what to say God knows about it okay. She's saying that she knew and she's a Goddess but he was saying you're saying God knows. And it's funny to her now but back then she got angry a lot and he said if it's like that don't say God knows and everything cuz that's like what he's up to. So now she's saying I meant me since our senses are too many physical problems just laughing and she says and you're going to be huge said yeah that's a lot of issue I don't know Goodwill sizes only go up so big and he knows cuz she's bawling with laughter but he knows that she is afraid and he says that you're not strong enough you're banking and his is not strong enough and they can't keep you around against Tommy f and Kirk has probably a lot of threats on his and him and she sees it and says can't they share and that's a question too ask them. It does look odd as in he just standing there and they beam you out ok mb it's an illusion and they feel a little better of it it does look good but wouldn't they have reason to grab you if they grab you and hell anyways, and they say there's a reason is at the time we think and then the clan will try and get you out and it's only two ships and they see it.
The reason why he knew she was in distress is because his jokes are not that good.
And Hera is laughing I didn't say anything yeah that crappy
This motion picture is going to start up and it is after destiny 2 but people are seeing these things are going on shortly and he mentioned it for a different reason and Michelle was still a decent terms. The reason is it's a professional outfit clean living there's a strong sense of duty and purpose and togetherness for defense that might actually be working because leaving you out it's like a weird thing and getting zapped that close to them probably wouldn't happen without them getting Zapped though Tommy F wants you to believe it if they hit it was an emitter right there that powerful would damage the floor and it doesn't look it that's what people say to. We think they're kidnapped.
Thor Freya
Thank you very much Chris you're a good friend
Michelle Caldwell
And thank you I appreciate it and I hope you come back safe and sound so dangerous mission and your bo
Zues Hera me too
Sounds good to me but we're out of here if it doesn't this place is hell I probably put through hell on purpose and now I see it you are too and the people here and it's the weakness to have them try and clear the surface of Earth and that's what he's up to so we're going to go after and thank you for your consideration and kindness
Costar husband of Leah

Well, uh, speaking from a lot of experience,
here's some good recs!
i'm sure someone's already mentioned Quinton's stuff because it lets go of the essay format frequently and just tries to cover as much as he can, or something like F. D's recent Kendrick vs Drake video, but if you're looking for longer essays that are basically a bunch of info or a lot of analysis, this 9+ hour video about Mario Maker Troll Levels is pretty great:
i'm sure you've already seen it so i won't bother linking it and it doesn't even really qualify because it's only 2 and a half hours but obviously the CJ the X Bo Burnham vs Jeff Bezos video rules.
then there's obviously Noah Caldwell-Gervais's videos on the Dark Souls trilogy and other FROMSOFT games (plus he also has other longer videos including games and outside of gaming, like his travelogues which are basically him documenting different locations and their history and his processing of being in a space and what it means etc):
youtube
youtube
Joseph Anderson's video on God of War 2018 is pretty great and just crosses the 3 hour mark:
youtube
the Nth review's GTA 5 video is also pretty great, and also just over 3 hours:
youtube
Keyan Carlile's trilogy of videos on Lab Rats, Mighty Med, and their spin-off are all great as well, and both the first two are over 3 hours, though the spin-off video is under 3 hours:
youtube
youtube
youtube
Jwlar's video on Daggerfall is actually genuinely great, and i've seen it like at least 15+ times with full attention:
youtube
most of I Finished A Video Game's videos are at least 2 hours long with a lot of them being over 3, and this one is my favorite, it's a retrospective of the Prince of Persia games:
youtube
Biz's videos on Midnight Mass and God is Not Dead, and Snapewives are genuinely so good, although they both clock in a few seconds under 3 hours.
youtube
i've hit the link limit unfortunately so i can't embed anymore, but there's a lot of other examples, lmk if you want the whole playlist to go through them yourself and i'll dm it to you!
quest to find the elusive Good 3+ Hour Video Essay
