Ok so it's been months since the trailer for Dragon Ball Daima came out so idk if people even care, but there is something from that trailer that I don't think ANYONE has pointed out. And that is
THAT BLUE DRAGON FOR THE XBOX 360 IS NOW CANON TO DRAGONBALL
Or at least I'm like 85% sure it is.
For those who don't know, Blue Dragon is a JRPG with designs by Akira Toriyama. Basic plot is a bunch of kids eat glowing spheres that give them JoJo stands so they can beat up this evil guy named Nene. Here's a picture of him:

And now look at this screenshot from the Daima trailer:

Purple humanoids with long pointy ears, grey breastplates, and suspiciously similar emblems.
Now let's ask; what are the lore implication for DB? Honestly, I doubt much. I imagine this will just be a planet goku and friends visit, learn a bit about, and leave.
For Blue Dragon though, this is huge. Getting to see what is most likely the homeworld of the MAIN VILLAIN is a huge lore drop considering the game came out like 17 years ago.

The head didn't come with any pre-plugged holes so I stuck with wefts. Her hairstyle isn't especially long anyway and wefts usually make a more manageable short style anyway.
It's funny that Akira Toriyama also has a trademark shoe style as well, one which i recreated simply with scrap leather.

The Death of Toriyama Sensei(:
I'm so tasked with things to square them down, properly solve them that i didn't do blogging for the Death of the famous Creator of DragonBall,Toriyama Akira. Please forgive me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toriyama Sensei died on March 1, 2024 at age 68 due to acute subdural hematoma.
His Life,his Great Creations
He began his first serialized manga, Dr. Slump, in 1980, and it inspired two television anime and multiple films. Toriyama followed it up with Dragon Ball, which ran from 1984 to 1995, and is still inspiring manga and anime sequels and spinoffs today. The manga's Dragon Ball anime adaptation, its sequel Dragon Ball Z, and its other numerous sequels and anime films are equally as well-known as the manga, and its hero Goku has become a character known throughout the world.
He's also well-known as the character designer for the Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon and Tobal games.
Most recently, Toriyama was working closely with the production for the Dragon Ball Daima anime series, the most recent anime series based on Dragon Ball, and is credited for the new anime's story and character designs.
Below:Toriyama Sensei and his son Sasuke playing Dragon Quest 3 some time,in the late 1980s. Wholesome, because albeit the Sensei was busy to create(and manage his plans)he did spent time with his family:)

My Say:
We're mortals, with physical needs and troubles. However the Japanese people ,the mangaka, particularly Toriyama sensei give us the lesson:That you have the Wright, and Obligation to create something Profound and great, and not being a NEET. The man has inspired me too.May he rest in peace:)

A possible source of hilarity for Blue Dragon crossovers lies in the fact that I am convinced all the weather in the Blue Dragon world is artificial.
Now it is mostly likely an extremely complicated algorithm that for all intents and purposes mimics the randomness of natural weather but imagine if it's not. If the world of Blue Dragon has clockwork weather. If once you've learned the pattern of an area's weather over whatever time span it repeats, then that is how the weather always runs unless interfered with by outside forces.
Now then imagine a Shadow Wielder encountering natural weather. It's not so much the fact that they can't predict the weather which baffles them, but that the locals can't.

Love the game, but very bemused right now, because I’m pretty sure my version of the game doesn’t look like this? It’s like this image is just a step to the left, it’s the villain-version instead of the hero-version. Shu and his Shadow seem almost sinister, complete with an ominous quote.

“Blue Dragon”
EGM, August 2007 (#218)
When the Xbox 360 was released in Japan, the market had a lukewarm response. To help boost sales and interest in the country, the Microsfot-funded studio Mistwalker produced “Blue Dragon,” which had a story written by original ‘Final Fantasy’ director Hironobu Sakaguchi and 'Dragon Ball’ artist Akira Toriyama. As hoped, the game helped move more 360s in Japan and met anticipated goals.

I am utterly unfamiliar with Dragon Ball but I think the Corporeal Attacks are a lot of fun. Mass destruction!
They probably also have some sort of deep symbolic meaning that can be analysed, but, mostly what I take way from using them is that I really like watching Kluke set things on fire.
"It is time to unleash your true power."
>Corporeal
Attack
Defend
Item
Formation
Flee

The corporeals are literally the most Dragon Ball thing in this game lol.

With the face, I wanted to scale it up ever so slightly so it makes her head look less huge. It was super rewarding emulating Akira Toriyama's style and it was a lot of fun painting in a more directly anime style than what I'm used to.

(Laughs) I think the reason I find this funny is because it does sort of fit my interpretation of Kluke?
Like she's the heart of the party, one of their key motivations, and also one of the more sensible party members, but she is also one of the most traumatized party members.
Kluke is 16, both of her parents were killed by the Land Shark last year, she appears to have no other living family, she seems to have been acting as the village doctor since her parents deaths and like everyone else in Talta she has spent the last decade being terrorized once a year by the Land Shark.
I am sure all inhabitants of Talta Village are traumatized by the decade long annual Land Shark attacks but most of them we don't interact with enough to get a good grip on how that trauma might have manifested.
Each party member has their own person traumas:
Zola's backstory is cloaked in mystery but implied to be pretty traumatic, as she seems to have been both been a mercenary and a war refugee. However Zola is also currently 20 years old and playing the aloof mentor role.
Marumaro has whatever Violet Clouds Disaster Lago Village has been dealing with and the frantic scavenger hunt to save half his village from illness, including his parents, that Nene sent him on.
Shu shares Talta Village's decade of annual Land Shark attacks and he lost his parents to either the Land Shark or illness at young age. But he still has his grandfather Fushira who loves him and supports him.
Jiro shares Talta Village's decade of annual Land Shark attacks but he still has both of his parents who love and support him.
I am not saying that other characters haven't had a terrible time, more that Kluke is a major character who you witness in emotional distress.
From cutscenes and dialogue you can pick up implications of how Kluke has been handling the last year. I don't think Kluke has let herself/had the chance to grieve properly. Not that I believe Kluke would or should be 'over' her parents' violent deaths if she had, but I think the implications that she hasn't are present. On top of grief and suddenly living alone, the death of Kluke's parents also left her with a heavy set of responsibilities. Kluke's parents were doctors and it is strongly implied that Kluke has taken over their duties.
Then add in the stresses Kluke experiences during the game:
Beginning with discovering it wasn't a natural disaster/animal attack that killed her parents, no, they were murdered for entertainment.
Simultaneously with that she and her friends are almost killed multiple times, lose a hopeless fight and are lost in the wilderness far from home.
Next they end up on a quest to save a village of people, the cure to the sickness based on her medical recommendation, which is relying on memories of her parent's work from when she was only 8 years old, having to travel/fight their way to the cure first, then mix it, administer it, and wait to see if it works.
Then she and the rest of the party are captured by the person who has been terrorizing the world and was responsible for the murderer of her parents.
Following her capture she is separated from the party and collared, it is unknown if she spends that time unconscious or if she is awake for some of her time as Nene's prisoner.
I could continue listing traumatic things that happen to or around Kluke, but it seems a bit redundant.
So, yeah.
Personal headcanon: throughout the game Kluke is never far from having a complete - probably murderous - breakdown, she's hanging onto composure by sheer willpower, habit, and the knowledge that if she loses it, her friends likely will too, which drastically increases the likelihood that they will do something even more reckless then usual in an attempt to kill Nene and end up getting killed.
Kluke: There's only room in this village for ONE unstable person and I've held that title for a long time, so you're going to have to get it together!
