A non-alcoholic mixed drink (also known as virgin cocktail, temperance drink, "zero proof" drink[citation needed] or mocktail) is a cocktail-style beverage made without alcohol.
Non-alcoholic mixed drinks date back to when cocktails emerged, appearing as "temperance drinks" in the first American cocktail books, including Jerry Thomas's Bar-Tenders Guide (1862). Merriam-Webster cites the first mention of "mocktail" as appearing in 1916.
While the name of the non-alcoholic drink, as well as its style, has evolved over time, it is often a reflection of cocktail culture at large. The 1980s saw the resurgence of a mocktail movement with often sugary drinks. Following the sophistication of cocktail culture of the 2000s, the zero proof drink also became more refined.
In the 2000s, non-alcoholic drinks became popular enough to find their place on cocktail menus in many restaurants and bars, especially temperance bars. According to Mintel, alcohol-free mixed drinks grew 35% as a beverage type on the menus of bars and restaurants from 2016 to 2019 in the US. In 2019, "The Providence Journal" reported that there were at least 4 bars in New York City that served mocktails only.
Zero proof drinks can be made in the style of classic cocktails, like a non-alcoholic gimlet, or can represent a new style of drink altogether. The popularity of drinking abstinence programs like Dry January, coinciding with the rise of the health and wellness culture has pushed non-alcoholic drinks to wider acceptance. Like the vegetarian food movement or the popularity of oat milk, zero proof drinks are now seen as valid choices for all types of drinkers.

Rabbit Stew (Final Rose)
Fraise was about to raise a spoonful of rabbit stew to her lips when she paused. “I wonder if Satin would be able to eat rabbit stew.”
Her mom stared at her for a moment before chuckling. “That... is a surprisingly good question.” She stroked her imaginary beard. “It’s not something I’ve ever really thought about. You and I are fox Faunus, and people don’t generally eat foxes to begin with. However, people do eat rabbit, but there are also rabbit Faunus.”
Fraise nodded slowly. “Most of the Faunus I know are predator Faunus, like cat Faunus, bear Faunus, wolf Faunus, or coyote Faunus. Satin’s family are rabbit Faunus, but they aren’t common amongst the Yun and the Dia.”
“That’s true. Most Faunus amongst the Yun and the Dia are predator Faunus of some kind or another.” Her mom’s brows furrowed. “Then again, rabbit Faunus still eat meat. I know for a fact that Satin’s mother enjoys a good burger just as much as anyone else.”
“Yes.” Fraise thought back to the many meals she had enjoyed with Satin. Although Satin didn’t go out of her way to eat meat, she did not adhere to a vegetarian diet either. In fact, their most recent date had involved breakfast at a seaside cafe. Satin had ordered bacon as part of her meal. “Satin does eat meat.”
“Rabbit isn’t a common meat in the city,” her mom said. “Since it’s so easy to get other kinds of meat. Hmm... I’ll make a quick call.”
One quick call later, they had their answer.
“So... it turns out that rabbit Faunus generally avoid rabbit meat,” her mom said. “Since it feels a bit too weird for them. However, they are fine with other kinds of meat.”
“That makes sense.” Fraise glanced down at her rabbit stew. “I am sure that Raine was here, she would say something about our current meal.”
“Oh?” Her mom raised one eyebrow. Fraise’s other siblings were currently back in Vale while Fraise and Vanille were in Oerba on business.
“Something about me enjoying eating rabbit.”
Her mom chuckled. “I can almost hear her voice saying that too.” She tilted her head to one side. “But, incidentally, have you two gone that far?”
Fraise found her cheeks flushing. “Yes.”
“And have you two enjoyed yourselves?”
“Very much so.”
“Excellent. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

Author’s Notes
In general, Faunus do not eat meat associated with the kind of Faunus they are. It just feels too weird to most of them. That said, Faunus typically have diets similar to humans. That is, there’s no reason for a rabbit Faunus to have a vegetarian diet although you will find some who do maintain one. Likewise, you’ll even find the occasional wolf Faunus who doesn’t particularly like meat.
Amongst the Yun and the Dia, most Faunus tend to belong to predator types (e.g., wolf Faunus, bear Faunus, etc.). This is not true all over the world, with Vale being home to many non-predator type Faunus (e.g., rabbit Faunus, bison Faunus, etc.).
The Scarlatina’s are a hunter family, in so far as many of their members have been successful hunters. However, Satin did not become a hunter. That is because she lacks the Aura reserves required. Typically a hunter will require at least ten times the Aura reserves of a civilian. Satin has more than a civilian but less than a hunter.

Indulge in the rich flavors of wild game with these juicy burgers paired with crispy double-fried French fries. This recipe, inspired by Steve Rinella and MeatEater TV, combines the goodness of wild game meat with classic burger fixings.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground wild game meat e.g., venison, elk, or bison. 1/4 lb pork fatback, finely chopped. 1/4 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup minced onion. 1 egg. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 hamburger buns. 4 slices of cheese your choice. 4 lettuce leaves. 4 tomato slices. 4 slices of bacon, cooked crisp. Mayonnaise and ketchup for condiments. Vegetable oil for frying. 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries. Ice water for soaking. Salt for seasoning.
Instructions: Put chopped pork fatback, breadcrumbs, minced onion, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Then add the ground wild game meat. Combine well. Make 4 burger patties out of the meat mixture, then put them in the fridge for 30 minutes to set. Set your grill or griddle on the stove to medium-high heat. The burger patties should be cooked for four to five minutes on each side, or until they're done the way you like them. In the last minute of cooking, put a slice of cheese on top of each patty. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 325F 163C while the burgers are cooking. Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry for three to four minutes, until they are golden but not fully cooked. Use a slotted spoon to take them out and let them drain on paper towels. Raise the temperature of the oil to 190F 375C. Adding the fries back to the hot oil in batches and cooking for another two to three minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. After you drain, add salt to taste. On a grill or griddle, toast the hamburger buns until they are just barely golden. Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on the bottom bun of each wild game burger before putting them together. Put on a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, bacon, the burger with cheese on top, and the top bun. French fries that have been fried twice should be served with the burgers. Have fun with your tasty Wild Game Burgers and French Fries that have been fried twice.

How Healthy Is It To Eat Meat Every Day? The Answer Depends on a Few Things. Here's What the Experts are Saying.
— By Allison Arnold
Meat makes up a large portion of many Americans' diets. While vegan and vegetarian diets have become more widespread, so have paleo and keto lifestyles that incorporate lots of meat. There are a lot of conflicting opinions out there about whether meat is "healthy" and whether it's okay to consume it every day. To understand more about the health impacts of eating meat so frequently, we consulted two leading experts for their insight.
Is Meat 'Healthy'?
"Healthy is a nuanced term with different meanings depending on who you ask," said Rosemary Trout, program director of culinary arts and food science at Drexel University. Meat is a great source of protein that has all of the essential amino acids, and it also contains nutrients like vitamin B12, iron, and zinc.
"Protein in animal meat is absorbed and assimilated efficiently compared to other sources, like plant-based protein," said Trout. You can still get all of your amino acids through plant-based foods, but you'll need to eat complimentary proteins, such as rice with beans.
From poultry and beef to pork, lamb, and bison, there's a lot of variety among different meats. In addition to protein and nutrients, meat also has fat and cholesterol, and this varies by type. "Too much fat can cause weight gain, which can cause metabolic disorders, and has an impact on blood triglycerides and cholesterol," said Trout.
Additionally, some meat, like bacon and deli meat, can be highly processed. "Meat that has added ingredients like salt, sugar, nitrates or added fat because it is part of cured, prepackaged or frozen meal, still delivers protein, but you will also get other ingredients that might not be good on a daily basis."
There's system for rating foods based on how processed they are called NOVA. It has four groups, ranging from unprocessed and minimally processed to ultra-processed. Cuts of meat like steak and poultry are considered group 1, while bacon, beef jerky, and cured meat are part of group three and are considered processed. Prepared products like burgers, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets are considered ultra-processed.

How Much Meat Is Healthy To Eat?
The Recommended Dietary Allowance is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. This is the minimum amount people should consume and will vary based on other factors like their activity level. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, it's recommended to consume a total of 26 ounces of meats, poultry, and eggs per week.
"While people don't have to eat meat every day, if they eat appropriate portions along with nutrient-dense foods that fit into a healthy diet, eating meat every day can be acceptable," said Lauren Manaker, registered dietitian.
Many people, though, are eating large portions of meat that exceed these recommendations. A serving size of meat is 3 to 4 ounces, according to the American Cancer Society. This is much smaller than most people consume at any given meal. To reduce portion sizes, Manaker recommends combining meat with plant-based proteins.
Recommendations For Eating Meat
"If you are looking for minimally processed food that is high in protein, you can certainly make a case for eating meat every day," said Trout. She recommends looking where meat falls on the NOVA classification system and seeking out options with a low number. "Stick with fresh or case-ready meats and cook it yourself."
In addition to portion size, Manaker recommends limiting ultra-processed products and looking for lean cuts of meat. This includes white meat chicken for poultry, flank steak for red meat, and pork sirloin or tenderloin. And what you eat with your meat is just as important. "Your sides can add fiber, micronutrients, and other important factors to your meal," said Manaker.

Fresh Tomato Day
Fresh Tomato Day is celebrated on April 6, as a day to appreciate the beauty of fresh tomatoes. Tomatoes are plants that are grown in temperate and tropical regions of the world and are a significant source of umami flavor. They are typically consumed raw or cooked. It is common to find that numerous varieties of the tomato plant are widely grown in temperate climates across the world, with purpose-built greenhouses aiding the production of tomatoes throughout all the seasons of the year. Tomato plants typically grow between three and 10 feet in height, with vines and a weak sprawling stem.
History of Fresh Tomato Day
The tomato is said to have descended or evolved from the “Solanum pimpinellifolium,” which is also known as the currant tomato or wild tomato, native to western South America. These wild tomatoes were smaller than the tomatoes we have in today’s times and they were usually about the size of peas. The domestication, so to speak, of tomatoes, traces back to the Aztecs and other Mesoamerican peoples, who used the fruit fresh and employed its use for cooking. Tomatoes came into Europe through the Spanish, and they became a very regular feature of Spanish food. In other European countries such as France, Italy, and others to the North of Europe, the tomato was initially grown as an ornamental plant, like flowers.
The tomato was met with skepticism as a type of food based on the fact that it was thought to be nightshade by botanists. This skepticism and suspicion were compounded by the acidity of the tomato juice. The tomato was even nicknamed the “poison apple,” because it was believed that it caused aristocrats to get sick and die after eating them. The possible reason for these reactions was that wealthy Europeans of that time, used pewter plates, which were rich in lead, and because tomatoes are so high in acidity, the fruit would leach lead from the plate upon coming in contact with it, eventually leading to led poisoning and eventually death.
Limited knowledge made it impossible for anyone at the time to connect the dots between plate and poison at the time and so the easier alternative was to blame the tomato. The leaves of the tomato and its immature fruit contain tomatin, which could be toxic in large amounts. However, the ripe tomato fruit does not contain tomatin.

That post about the difference between touhou 16 and 17 but for my burger game between this time and the last time I made burgers, this lame ass dude had the america special- wrong seasoning in his meat, bitchless vegetables, “awww cute he’s putting bacon”, only thing saving it is the fact you can’t taste it over the American cheese IDIOT; I have fucking EVOLVED- carmelized onion, that pretty lettuce instead of iceberg, brioche toasted in butter instead of on the grill like a fucking ANIMAL, sharp cheddar AND a couple weeks ago my mom got this truffle seasoning on Amazon and I made that shit into some spiced mayo with some chili this is the best fuckign burger I’ve made since I spiced one with taco seasoning and used that gourmet bison cheese we got while seeing my sister
#nothing excites me more then burger innovation#I can’t claim credit for it all tho my dad was the one who got the brioche buns#and I decided to carmelize onions even tho the kitchen is really hot because my poor little mommy#wanted onion in her burger so so bad but she wanted me to put those shitty little onion chunks in them#and she’s got like strep or smth so I wanted to do something nice for her
