How does anyone have the time to commit anything to writing with the demands of the House!
I knew this would be a big event for the House and every Councilmer or nosy noble. Still, I had no idea the acrobatics that certain Councilors would make in order to try and get their way.
Tel, despite my warnings, was hardly prepared for the avalanche that is the House Council. Nothing stands before them without being crushed below their will.
Poor Tel had thought maybe they would stay on a day or two at most in order to finalize our arrangement. The had not expected for the House to reach out to their captain and demand a stay of leave. That they were somehow able to pull strings with the Temple in Vivec in order to ensure that Tel was not beholden to their normal duties until the House had finished negotiations and gotten a written contract agreement of exactly what duties Tel would perform as part of the arrangement.
For my part, I have been busy preparing the House for Tel's addition to the household. Tel's room is to be prepared. I had to do interviews with additional servants. There was the matter of furnishings. Everything has to be in place as though Tel will be living with us full time. Even with Tel agreeing to come during their leave periods up to the point of their being too heavy with child to work, the House has very clear expectations.
I think in part, they desire for it to be so welcoming and grand that, as the fatigue of being heavy with child sets in, Tel will see less and less reason to head out. The House wants to control every aspect of the pregnancy that they can and to ensure that conception occurs as swiftly as possible. They are more eager than a starving pack of wolves trailing a wounded mammoth.
The only thing I can give my House credit for, is that they did not push too hard against accepting the offer. Apparently there were rumours that my invitations to Tel might be to that purpose. I suspect that in light of the arrangement people have decided to start rumours about what they did or did not know before hand. Typical gossip.
Of course, there are many a potential mistress who have been disappointed, it is only natural. Hard to see them around the market, though.

And just like that the physicians and healers began to arrive. To look at our kitchens and the way we prepare our meals. You would think I had not two children they accepted already.
Poor Tel, the questions they had for them were far more invasive than for anyone else. They did calculations and have arrived on which days Tel would be the most fertile. It is uncomfortable to see them look at Tel in such a way.
And yet, I was not free of such directives either. I have been given orders, yes, literal orders, about the way I am allowed to conduct myself intimately. About whom I may share my seed and how often. I also have been given a special diet to adhere to, one that is supposed to make me particularly virile.
To be clear, that House has actually hired on a pair of Bretons in the hopes of increasing mine and Tel's fertility. That whole rumor that bedding the races of men increases the fertility of mer is being honor as though it is fact. And by the physicians no less!
I feel like I am in a strange dream that I need to wake up from. Yet it is not ending.
