2023 Astrology Vibes
Last day of 2022, I think I can speak for everyone when I say this year was something 🫣
But 2023 is going to be a different vibe and I’m going to tell you why
1. For the last 5.5 years Saturn has been in his home signs Capricorn &Aquarius! These were the probably some of the most challenging years and you had to do a lot of growth and break away from karmas. Also add Pluto Capricorn that’s been intensifying everything! Look at the years from 2017-Present. Check what houses Saturn, Capricorn and Aquarius were transiting those years using transit chart.
For ex. Saturn has transited in my 6&7h so I’ve learned a lot about relationships (platonic&romantic) and I’ve had some health stuff that made me want to change some diets.

More people may leave churches due to corruptions and I feel like karma is going to come to the toxic people who uses religion for their own gain
2. Something with fish, maybe a low fish supply since Saturn restricts. Also Pisces rules the deep ocean and Saturn represents time and ancient stuff, I wonder if we’ll find some ancient civilizations or species in the oceans?? When Pluto enters aqua, that may advance it since aqua rules technology and Pluto rules dark hidden places👀
3. Women will be the focus next year since it’s a cancer ruled year. I’ve seeing lots of babies and pregnancy signs so I think a lot of new souls will be born next year, these new babies will be advanced, I’m talking doing things at 2 when they shouldn’t be able to do until their 5 😅 honestly the whole Pluto cap and future aqua generation will be. Watch what I say😅 back to women though, sisterhood will become a big thing, women banding together to start a business or just to have a small support system.
4. The moon rules over our family, ancestors, home life, our private life, our emotional comfort. Themes surrounding these topics will be the focus. Now depending on your moon sign, this will tell you how your year can go, I would personally check your solar return chart and see what sign the moon is in for that year
For ex. In my solar return chart, the moon is in Leo 10h with moon ruler in the 9h for 2023, themes of children, traveling, having fun. My uncle &his gf is having a child in February!

I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It’s been rather emotional for me, because I just didn’t want another thing to stress about.
The first thing that hit me was guilt, the thought that I did this. That this was solely my fault, just like all the other issues we’ve had over the years. I started looking back at my entire first and a good chunk of my second trimester of not being able to stomach anything but carbs first thing in the morning and that my only craving has been Dr. Pepper and all the times I indulged (regardless of all the times I chose not to).
Then I felt embarrassment, that the first thing people will think is “of course she has gestational diabetes, just look at her”. I started looking up articles online that pretty much start out with “Don’t be such a fatty fat fat and you’ll be ok”, which didn’t help me feel better. I didn’t want to tell anyone, I didn’t want to get guilted by a nurse for poor eating habits (although I’ve only lost weight this pregnancy). I felt like I did the best I could but that no one would ever believe that, because obviously fat peoples have no self control in the eyes of society. And let’s be real: while yes, skinny people get it as well, according society that’s a tragedy and let’s support and feel sorry for them. For fat people they deserve it and should learn control themselves more.
Then I just started feeling sorry for myself and mentally stamping my feet and throwing a child like tantrum. I just didn’t want this, and it’s not fair. I don’t want to have to test my sugars and worry about what I’m eating. I laid on the floor in the hallway and cried to Bill on phone his entire way home from work. “I’m probably going to starve to death because I hate most vegetables”. And tbh, diet mentality is exceptionally triggering for me. My obsessive nature and anxiety don’t mix well, and I tend to work myself up to a bad mental health state, including turning to eating disorder behaviors. So I was honestly worried about putting myself in that place, and also pissed I had to when being pregnant feels like the one time in life you’re allowed to be like “Yeah I’ll have that piece of chocolate mid day, I’m pregnant and can do what I want!”
And on it went. It was a vicious cycle between those emotions and more for a good 48 hours. There was lots of uncontrollable crying and a bit of rage, Bill was pretty much at a loss of what to do (cause honestly telling me “at least it’s only 3 months” makes me want to kill you. Enjoy your pumpkin spice latte you fucker. You haven’t had to do anything this entire pregnancy!) When I found out, I hung up on the nurse because I started to get hysterical on the phone. I couldn’t set up my necessary appointments or get the information about the supplies I needed, I just said I was so sorry and hung up while choking back sobs. The next day was Friday, and I still couldn’t bring myself to talk to anyone on the phone. Bill called for me and spoke to the same nurse. He talked to her about my anxieties and concerns. She reassured him that the process isn’t as invasive as we are imaging. She explained the process and he relayed it to me. I already had a doctors appointment scheduled for Monday, so they just penciled me in to see the diabetes nutrionist right after. It made me feel better that I didn’t have to worry about any of it for the next few days.
Monday came, and by then I was in a better headspace. I still didn’t WANT to have to do this, but I knew I had to. So I can either be miserable and complain the entire time, or be my A typical self and dive head first into it. The nurse right off bat asked me what my biggest fears were. I told her that I worry this is all my fault. I told her about our loss and the stress for the first few months and how upsetting yet another problem is making everything feel. She reassured me that this wasn’t my fault, then pulled out diagrams and charts explaining why this happens and what it means. She gave us a ton of information, charts, and booklets. Showed me how to test my sugars and when and gave me a booklet to help me keep track of my sugars. She said it was my choice if I also wanted to track my food, which I’m doing but for myself and not to share with them.
So now I’m 3 days in and managing ok. The first day I had a high number after breakfast which sent me into a panic. (Which the my warned me not do to, but you explain that to my anxiety) I spent hours agonizing over what I ate and then planning my lunch and calculating carbs and proteins multiple times while downloading like 5 different food charting apps (not a good idea. I deleted all but 1 which focuses on sugar and not weight loss). Since then I have calmed down a bit and my numbers have been decent. Only a few over here and there and only over by like 1-5 point range so I feel like I’m doing ok. I’m not at the point where I feel like I can eat away home and still feel confident I’d do a decent job, I sort of need the security of planning meals so I know I’m doing it right. Today as I made lunch I let myself think about the fact I have 3 months of doing this, and it feels fucking daunting.
I’m still not thrilled, but whatever. New baby will be born alive and healthy and it’s because I kept them that way. And I’m sure as shit going to pat myself on the back the entire time.

Do You Need to Increase Your Daily Carb Intake?
Are you an advocate of the low-carb lifestyle or the ketogenic diet? If you’ve been experiencing problems like fatigue, constipation, or a weight loss plateau, it could be a sign that it’s time to increase your daily carb intake.
In this article, I’ll discuss how to figure out your ideal carb intake—and I’ll talk about when it makes sense to stay low-carb.
Who Should Avoid a Low-Carb Diet?
Carbohydrates and fat are the two primary energy sources for your body. Carbs also fill a variety of important roles in your health and are a great source of antioxidants and micronutrients.
There are also a handful of life stages and health conditions for which low-carbohydrate diets are not recommended. If you fall into one of these categories, I recommend you increase your daily carb intake. Otherwise, you risk harming your health.
Are you following the low-carb diet trend? While kicking refined sugars off your plate is a great step, in some cases, restricting your daily carb intake too much can harm your health. Check out this article to find out if you’re eating enough carbs.
Pregnant and Lactating Women
Pregnancy is not the time to experiment with this type of diet. In fact, traditional cultures have long understood the importance of optimal nutrition and carbohydrate intake during the preconception period, pregnancy, and lactation.
Weston A. Price, who traveled the globe in the early 20th century studying the dietary habits of traditional cultures, noted that women in African tribes were strongly encouraged to eat two carbohydrate-rich grains, linga-linga (a botanical relative of quinoa) and red millet, during pregnancy and the nursing period. (1) These people understood, through the transgenerational passing of accumulated wisdom and experience, that carbohydrates were crucial for women during these time periods.
We now understand on a scientific level that carbohydrates are necessary during pregnancy.
They ensure optimal brain growth and development in the fetus. A lack of carbohydrates and overall energy during the preconception period and pregnancy, as observed in the famous studies of children conceived and born during the Dutch Hunger Winter of WWII, reduces the amount of glucose available to the fetus. This ultimately results in smaller infant size and impaired mental health and metabolism later in life. (2, 3)
Furthermore, research has linked a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet during pregnancy to increased cortisol in offspring. (4) Alarmingly, following a ketogenic diet during pregnancy also reduces the size of the child’s critical brain regions and has other effects on their brain’s structure. (5) The long-term health implications of these changes remain largely unknown, but it is reasonable to say that low-carb diets are best avoided during pregnancy.
The harmful effects of low-carb diets on infants are not limited to preconception and pregnancy; a low-carb diet during lactation may alter milk production and composition and reduce infant growth. (6)
Based on this evidence, pregnant and lactating women should aim for a moderate carbohydrate intake, which I define as approximately 30 percent of your total calories.

Children
Low-carb diets are not recommended for children. Sometimes, children with gut issues such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or neurobehavioral disorders such as autism or ADHD, are put on reduced-carbohydrate diets by their well-intentioned parents to control gut dysbiosis or manage blood sugar. This is problematic. Carbohydrates are required to fuel weight gain and brain development in growing children. They’re part of the healthy diet kids need to thrive.
While adults can thrive on low-carb diets that strictly limit calories from carbs because they are no longer growing, kids can’t.
In fact, children who have to rely on dietary protein and fat for energy often don’t grow or function as well as their counterparts. They may even overproduce toxic by-products of protein catabolism, such as urea and ammonia.
If your child is struggling with gut or attention issues, focus on balancing his or her blood sugar with a diet that includes complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein, along with interventions that correct dysbiosis and optimize brain function. Don’t cut out carbohydrates.
Athletes
When we eat foods containing glucose, some of that glucose is used to build a branched polysaccharide called glycogen. The liver and skeletal muscle are the primary sites of glycogen synthesis in the body. Along with fat, glycogen serves as an important energy substrate during exercise.
The cyclical depletion and repletion of muscle glycogen that occurs in athletes often requires a high carb intake to sustain. In many athletes, carbohydrate intake has a direct impact on their ability to perform well in their chosen sport. (7, 8) However, the amount of carbs athletes need each day depends on several factors, including:
Sex
Degree of metabolic flexibility
The type of physical activity being performed
Do All Athletes Need to Eat High-Carb Diets?
For decades, the prevailing dogma in sports nutrition has been that endurance athletes need to eat large amounts of carbohydrates to continually replenish their glycogen stores. However, new research indicates that ketones, organic molecules produced by the liver when it breaks down fat for energy, are ideal fuel sources for the low-intensity, long-range exertion of endurance sports. (9, 10, 11)
This new research—and the experiences of a growing number of athletes who are crushing it on ketogenic diets—suggests that low-carb diets may be safe and effective for endurance athletes.
However, the caveat is that most of the research on ketogenic diets in endurance athletes has been performed on men—women are sorely underrepresented. This means that we can’t necessarily conclude that female endurance athletes will respond favorably to this type of diet. Endurance exercise frequently disrupts the delicate hormonal balance in female athletes; a low-carb diet may further stress the endocrine system and contribute to the “female athlete triad,” a constellation of symptoms like:
Insufficient calorie intake
Amenorrhea
Osteoporosis
And, while endurance athletes may thrive on a low-carb diet, activities that involve explosive movements, such as martial arts and CrossFit, are highly glycolytic and usually require a higher carbohydrate intake.
The takeaway here is that every athlete’s carbohydrate needs are unique.
If you’ve been on a low-carb diet for months and are struggling in your workouts, it may be time to increase your daily carb intake. Even going from a low-carb to a moderate-carb diet can produce significant gains in strength and endurance.
For reference, the low end of carb intake for athletes is approximately 20 percent of total calorie intake, whereas the high end is 30 to 40 percent of total calorie intake. Athletes need to experiment to find their carbohydrate intake “sweet spot” that fuels their chosen sports while also supporting the health of their minds and bodies over the long-term.
People with Hypothyroidism
The amount of carbs you eat each day has a significant effect on thyroid function. Insulin, which is needed for the conversion of inactive T4 to active T3 hormone, is secreted by the pancreas in response to ingested carbohydrates. Insulin levels are generally low on low-carb diets. If you’ve been eating low-carb for a while and are struggling with hypothyroid symptoms like cold hands and feet, thinning hair, constipation, and fatigue, you may want to consider increasing your daily carb intake.
Those with HPA Axis Dysregulation
The hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis is the body’s central stress response system. HPA axis dysregulation is triggered by chronic stress that erodes the body’s resilience and metabolic reserve. It leads to changes in the output of hormones and neurotransmitters such as:
Cortisol
DHEA
Melatonin
Epinephrine
High cortisol is a common problem for people with HPA axis dysregulation, and low-carb diets may exacerbate the problem because they increase cortisol. (12) Slightly increasing your carbohydrate intake may be a helpful adjunct treatment in a comprehensive plan designed to correct HPA axis dysfunction.
How to Figure Out Your Ideal Daily Carb Intake
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to carbohydrate intake. In The Paleo Cure, I broke down different carb intakes by percent of total calories and grams per day and included indications for each level of intake.
Carb intake as a percentage of total calories Carb intake for men in grams based on a 2,600-kcal diet Carb intake for women in grams based on a 2,000-kcal diet Consider this diet if you: Very low carb <10% <65 g <50 g Have neurological issues (like epilepsy or Alzheimer’s disease or severe blood sugar problems) Low carb 10–15% 65–100 g 50–75 g Are trying to lose weight, regulate blood sugar, correct mood disturbances, or fix digestive problems Moderate carb 15–30% 100–200 g 75–150 g Are generally healthy and want to maintain your current weight, or you are suffering from HPA axis dysregulation, hypothyroidism, or familial hypercholesterolemia High carb >30% >200 g >150 g Are an athlete or highly active person, are trying to gain weight or muscle mass, have a fast metabolism, or are pregnant or breastfeeding
Take a look at this chart and get a feel for which category best fits your needs. Once you have selected a category, use the three-step process below to determine your ideal daily carb intake.
1. Consider Your Current Health Status
It is important to consider your current state of health when figuring out your optimal carbohydrate intake. For example, someone who is pre-diabetic or diabetic is likely to reap more benefit from a low-carb diet than an athlete with well-controlled blood sugar.
Another important aspect of your health to consider is your digestion. Does eating carbs give you gas, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation? If so, limiting your intake, even for a short period of time while you pursue treatment, may be useful. If you struggle with HPA axis dysregulation, are a woman looking to optimize your fertility, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, then you should aim for a moderate carbohydrate intake.
2. Determine Your Daily Calorie Needs and Calculate Your Ideal Carb Intake
The first step here is to determine your daily calorie needs. You can use a tool such as this BMR calculator from Many Tools. Once you have a value for your calorie needs, you can experiment with different ratios of carbs in your diet.
For example, if your daily energy needs are 2,000 calories and you’d like to aim for a moderate carb intake (30 percent of total calories), multiply 2,000 by 0.30. This comes out to 600 calories from carbs per day. Next, with the understanding that there are 4 calories in a gram of carbohydrates, divide 600 by 4 to get 150 grams; this is the number of grams of carbs you should eat per day.
3. Track Your Daily Carb Intake
Use an app, such as MealLogger or Eat This Much, to help you track how many carbs you eat in a day. Document how you feel either in an app or food journal.
One of the benefits of using Eat This Much is that the app can adjust your macronutrient percentages and automatically generate meal plans for you that fit within those parameters. This makes it easy to experiment with different carb intakes, track your results, and change course if needed.
When a Low-Carb Diet Is a Good Idea
While it makes sense for some people to eat more carbs, they can be problematic for others. Low-carb diets can help people with:
Blood sugar issues
SIBO
Gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD)
Neurological disorders
Mental health disorders
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Some forms of cancer
If you have one of these health issues, eating more carbs may not be the right choice for you.
You Are Overweight or Obese
A growing body of research indicates that low-carbohydrate diets are useful for promoting weight loss. (13, 14) Eating low-carb encourages weight loss by spontaneously reducing calorie intake, stabilizing blood sugar, and boosting insulin sensitivity. These diets also tend to be higher in protein, which has satiating effects and decreases your appetite and food intake.
You Have Blood Sugar Imbalances
Blood sugar imbalances have several harmful effects on the body. Elevated blood sugar promotes chronic inflammation, which is a risk factor for many chronic diseases, including:
Type 2 diabetes
Alzheimer’s disease
Heart disease
Cancer
Diets high in refined carbohydrates promote chronically elevated blood sugar, which may eventually morph into insulin resistance or diabetes. A high refined carbohydrate intake can also provoke reactive hypoglycemia, a condition in which blood sugar drops too low following a meal, resulting in anxiety, dizziness, shakiness, hunger, and brain fog.
If you are prone to high blood sugar or blood sugar fluctuations, you may want to eat fewer carbs in a day. That will help stabilize your levels and prevent the symptoms associated with the blood sugar “roller coaster.”
You Have a Neurological Disorder
Research indicates that blood sugar dysregulation plays an important role in neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS. In fact, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and dementia all respond favorably to a ketogenic diet. Ketogenic diets are very low in carbohydrates and cause the body to rely on ketone bodies rather than glucose for energy. (15, 16, 17)
You Suffer from a Mood Disorder
Blood sugar regulation is closely tied to mood and mental health. Research has found that a high sugar intake and poor glycemic control (i.e., blood sugar swings) negatively impact mood and psychological health. (18, 19) Interestingly, the ketogenic diet has demonstrated effects similar to antidepressant drugs, suggesting that following this type of lifestyle may benefit people with mood disorders. (20) However, some people experience increased anxiety on a low-carb diet, so ultimately, you’ll need to experiment to determine what best supports your mental health.
You Have PCOS
Between 5 and 10 percent of women of childbearing age in the United States have PCOS, making it one of the most common hormonal disorders in women. Adopting a low-carb diet can be a beneficial approach to PCOS because it alleviates the hallmark symptoms of the disease. It promotes weight loss, reduces free testosterone and the LH/FSH ratio, and decreases fasting insulin. (21, 22)
You Have a Digestive Disorder
People with SIBO and GERD often find that carbohydrates exacerbate their digestive problems. A restricted intake of fermentable carbohydrates, particularly FODMAPs (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols), can work wonders to reduce symptoms of GI distress. However, some people with SIBO and GERD do fine with moderate amounts of starches like white rice and plantains. If you have SIBO or GERD, self-experimentation can help you determine if low-carb works for you.
You Have Cancer
Some (but not all) research suggests that low-carbohydrate diets may be beneficial in the treatment of certain cancers. Cancer cells require glucose for fuel. The theory is that by reducing glucose intake, it may be possible to “starve” cancer cells and inhibit their survival and proliferation. (23) While not all cancers respond, low-carb diets have demonstrated good results in brain, prostate, and colon cancers. (24, 25, 26)

New Moon in Cancer on 9th July 2021
When I was a little girl, my mum was my world. She was my first teacher, comforter, and inspiration. She was beautiful, strong, and very loving.  My mum had an incredible singing voice and often sang on stage with my Uncle Reg at various local pubs and clubs, together they made a great duo.  I loved being part of their fun.   My mum, of course was a native Cancerian and I miss her deeply.  Her passing in 2013 left a huge whole in the family, especially the unconditional Cancerian love she exuded.   Life is always a little bit easier if you are blessed to have a native Cancerian in your life.  I’m the one snuggled in my mother’s neck.
Cancer is a Cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon representing the stomach, breasts, chest, womb, ovaries, and mucosa in the body. The principal of Cancer is “I Feel”. Cancerians are extremely sensitive and emotional which is their greatest strength yet can also be their downfall.  When you are aware of this emotional power, you are most likely able to manage your emotions and those around you with more ease and grace than those without awareness.
Cancer needs to be nurtured and are incredible at nurturing and protecting those they care for. Week 1

The body is at its ultimate high this week and for that reason you will have emotional strength to deal with any old wounds that need stitching. Week 3
Ovulation marks the beginning of week 3 and if your progesterone that rises over the next few days can stay optimal until day 28 your PMS days may be over.  To keep progesterone levels at their optimal levels you need to look at your stress hormones because they can interfere with your progesterone causing PMS to occur. For me, one of the most important factors to healing my progesterone levels was looking at the health of my gut and how that impacted also on my stress levels.  Science has proved that our gut is our second brain.  If the microbiome is out of balance, you may feel anxious, depressed, or tired.  You may also suffer from memory problems or brain fog.  In addition to eating the right foods, try to get into a meditative state prior to eating.  Do this by removing all stressors, including stressful people and conversations. Be grateful for the food that is in front of you and eat slowly.  This week try to avoid anything that comes in a can, plastic bag, cardboard box or bottle.  Eat plant-based foods only – click here for a whole balanced food.
Week 4
The hormone progesterone peaks at day 21 and should remain at optimum levels until the end of your monthly cycle normally day 28.  At this time, all hormones crash sending signals through your body to release the uterine lining because no pregnancy has occurred, and the body starts the cycle again.   Do you experience the Progesterone drop at Day 21 and suffer PMS? What would it mean to you if you could eliminate PMS?  To understand why Progesterone drops prematurely you need to address a few things in your life.
Stress (meditate, breathing techniques; Food (plant-based options) Hydration (water only) Exercise/stretching (30 minutes a day)
Thoughts (counter your negative thoughts with – that may not be true)Above all the greatest discovery I found out was that Stress Hormones interfere with Sex Hormones, so if you are stressed PMS will most likely be hanging around.  Look to the activities I’ve suggested to do this week to help you find ways to reduce stress in your body.

Kanera Fix-It Fic I was Talking About
Y’all thought I was joking when I said I had 3000 words of a fic all lined up to fix this, right? GUESS AGAIN. 4117 WORDS. I had to delete 90% of my original 3000 words and re-write it just now to conform to what happened in the midseason premiere, and it took me four hours, but I did it! Anyway, I put myself into the queue to make an archiveofourown account, but that’ll take a month to activate, so until then, I’ll just post this chapter-by-chapter on here. I got part 1 done tonight, and it might be a few days before chapter 2: I have college life and work that’s going to be occupying my time this week. But I’m not abandoning this. I am FUELED BY PAIN.

Fair warning to everyone else: this is my first time posting any kind of story online, and it’s as rough as any story can be. I normally spend time editing my chapters, as any writer should, but I was just hammering it out as fast as I could to a) get it done before I fell asleep and b) to give you all a little hope after this agonizing premiere. So I’m sorry if it’s full of errors that I’m too tired to edit right now, and that the format under the cut is kind of wonky. I’m not entirely happy with the content, either–it’s kind of melodramatic and rushed for my taste, but I’m running off pure emotion right now. Hopefully I’ll find time to edit it before I before I post it on Archive. The chapter and some explanations for various things are down below. Happy readings, and everyone be okay out there!
*Writer’s Notes*
First off, I had literally 20 ideas for how Kanan would survive this premiere, and I had “explosion” down for two of them. Here, he survives by basically copying Ahsoka during her fight with the Inquisitors and Force-clapping backwards into Hera’s arms. He gets burned up and spends 3 weeks recovering in a bacta tank. No one’s going into much detail about it in the story, because they don’t want to re-imagine it all over again, but that’s what I was envisioning happening.
Second, Kanan is still blind: him getting to see Hera before he died was painful and sweet, but I honestly felt he had a lot of growth because of his injury, and it needed to stay. (And disability representation is important).
Third, I can’t start calling him “Caleb Dume”, guys, I’m sorry! I’ve spent four years calling him Kanan, and I can’t get into the habit of calling him Caleb.
Fourth, his beard and ponytail are coming back.
Fifth, I have a very large, multi-fandom, decades-long (in-universe) fanfiction world that I’m always playing with and developing to further my own writing prowess, character development, and storytelling skills. I’m going to make references to that multi-fandom work in this story (not a lot, but if there are moments where you’re thinking “where did that come from? I don’t remember that in the show or comics”, well, it might be from the multi-fandom). I’m including this story in my collection of works, and I don’t feel like editing it all over again just to include references to it. So you should all be able to follow what’s going on, but there might be a few odd moments.

Chapter 1
         Hera checked her calendar again, counting down days and weeks and making notes as she went. Nine weeks ago…captured. Eight-and-a-half weeks ago…rescued. Five weeks ago, we…and four weeks ago…well, I’m now very late. I should’ve started another cycle by now. And on a regular diet for over eight weeks, with additional nutritional supplements to get back to full strength after confinement. And we’re hardier than humans; we don’t get so out of sync after missing a few meals and getting a few electric shocks. So that shouldn’t explain why I’m late. She then checked her star charts for any habitable systems nearby, and winced when there weren’t any. Should I divert our flight path to go to the nearest star system just to buy a test? No, we’re fine on other supplies, and everyone will ask questions as to why I think we need to make a stop. She would’ve killed for a certified medical droid onboard her ship in that moment, but she was out of luck. They’d left the medical system on that nameless little asteroid five weeks ago now, and they were back to their own devices out in space. Great. Just great. Gonna have to go on instinct this time. And she wasn’t liking what she was coming up with.
           Hera opened her mouth to say the word out loud, but couldn’t do it. Pregnant. You’re pregnant. You’re four weeks late, and your idiot self didn’t want to think about protection after you were saved by Kanan and the others. And after what nearly happened to Kanan…
           After her rescue, after telling Kanan that she loved him, after he nearly died and had to spend three weeks in a bacta tank, the minute he’d showered off and went to his own bunk to be alone, she’d slipped into his room and reiterated her love for him. Free of drugs and pain, she’d finally broken down for once in her karking life and loved him, not as a general, or a pilot, or a freedom fighter. Just him and her, together, as it should always be. To remind herself that he’d been blasted back into her arms instead of dying in the fuel explosion, that he’d survived three flatlines before they could find him a bacta tank. That he’d eventually woken up and immediately began to listen for the sound of her voice. And afterwards, curled up in each other’s arms, she’d whispered that, now that his beard had grown back and his hair was beginning to return, he’d better keep it that way. Kanan had laughed, but they’d clutched each other in the semidarkess and just listened to each other breathe. No, of course you weren’t thinking clearly. He needed you, and you needed him. But look what came of it.
           Hera rubbed the corners of her eyes and tried to think past the rising panic in her gut. What am I going to do about this? Pills? A clinic visit? Which is cheapest? What’s safest and gets me back into the pilot’s seat without anyone noticing something was wrong? She thought back to the pamphlets and medical texts she’d memorized when she’d left Ryloth to strike out on her own in the galaxy. Twi’leks were always targeted anywhere one went in the galaxy, and she’d prepared herself for what to do if she was attacked and how to handle any possible outcome. But thinking about the next few steps right now made Hera’s heart hurt. A few years ago, this would’ve been an easy decision for her. Three months ago, she wouldn’t have hesitated. Today…
           Hera knew why she was conflicted. Will there ever be a tomorrow? We got lucky this time—will I be next? Or will the Force finally decide to call Kanan back to wherever it is Jedi go when they die? Will there ever be a second chance for us to conceive? She hadn’t given much thought to the end of the war, to her future, but sitting next to Kanan’s bacta tank and listening to his pulse monitor for several hours a day had broken something inside her, and she’d begun to think. A mild, deserted little planet. Not dry and harsh like Ryloth. Someplace cool and wet and green. A little home, with rooms for the rest of the family. Sabine can paint the family room with murals of our adventures. Maybe little tookas frolicking on the baby’s nursery walls. Zeb can carve us furniture with all the designs of Lasat that he’s lost. Whatever he can remember. Ezra…he can have a real bed, not a bunk. And a home-cooked meal that didn’t come out of a ration pack. When was the last time he had one of those? Chopper can have a nice oil bath and shut down without worrying that we’ll wake him up for an emergency. And our baby will run in the grass and will never know war, and…
           Hera swallowed back tears and controlled her emotions. You’re dreaming again, Hera Syndulla. It’s one thing to admit your feelings for Kanan and finally be open in your relationship, and it’s another thing to abandon the rest of the galaxy to pursue your selfish dream. How many people want the same dream as you? How many people have the skills and resources to make that dream come true for everyone else that can’t help themselves? Your little fantasy will have to wait. Get rid of this and get back to work.
           Her heart broke as she made up her mind, and a sudden fatigue overcame her. Raw emotion? Something related to the pregnancy? She knew nothing about pregnancy, come to think of it. Or how to be a mother. What makes you think you have time to learn? Especially now? You aren’t ready for this. You know what you have to do.
           Hera wearily glanced at her chrono. A few hours until your shift. When I’m back in the pilot’s seat, I can tell the others I’ve got nerve damage from torture, and that I need to see a specialist somewhere. Maybe I could say we all deserve a treat after what we’ve all been through. She shuffled to her dresser and opened the secret panel on the side to check how many credits she had left in her emergency fund. Enough for the procedure and a little left over for the others. This could work. Damn it. This’ll have to do. There will be other opportunities, Hera. Just have hope.
           But it could wait. The fatigue was seeping throughout her body, fogging up her mind and turning her limbs to jelly. A few hours to nap, and then it’ll be time to call everyone. In twenty-four hours, this will all be over. A few tears blurred her eyes, and she roughly wiped them away. Either get out all the sorrow now, or sleep and cry afterwards. Hera chose the latter, and she barely made it to her bunk before she collapsed on top of the covers and sank into a deep, misery-filled slumber.

           It only felt like a few minutes had passed before Hera was startled out of her uneasy sleep. “Who is it?” She rasped. She groggily sat up and wrapped a blanket around her shoulders.
           “Hera? It’s me.” Hera shivered at the sound of his voice. Every word that he spoke seemed like a precious gift after what nearly happened. But now, after what she’d finally admitted to herself, he was the last person she wanted to see right now. Or, maybe she needed him most. Can he feel it? In the Force? Does he already know? Does he know what I’m planning to do?
           “Kanan.” Her voice caught in her throat, and she couldn’t keep going.
           “Can I come in? Please?”
           Hera hesitated. Either you don’t tell him now, and you don’t involve him at all, or he knows what you’re planning to do. Could she do it alone? Without him? She didn’t know if it would be more painful to involve him, or to never let him know what could have been.
           But Hera had made a commitment to Kanan when she’d told him she loved him, and there was no backing out of that commitment now, no matter how she’d chosen to handle her pregnancy. “Come in,” she whispered.
           Kanan was framed in the light of the hall for only a second before he shut the door and crossed the distance to her bunk. He sat down next to her, his hands automatically wrapping around her shoulders; he froze when his hands met the rough fabric of her blanket. “Hera? What’s going on? Are you ill?”
           Not in the way that you’re thinking, but yes. “What makes you say that?”
           “Well, I…” He hesitated. “I know it’s getting pretty old for me to say it, but I feel a…disturbance in the Force. Around you.”
           Hera tensed up. Oh karabast. He knows. “Tell me what you feel.” In their first years together on the Ghost, if they had time to rest, they’d park the ship in the first meadow they could find. Stretched out on the hull, in the light of the stars above, Kanan would describe the world to her as he felt it in the Force. A web connecting all living things, from the deadly dance of predator and prey in the grasses below them, the cries of the plants as they cried out for rain, jostled to and fro by the silent paws of some canid beast, to the needy, incessant hunger of newborn chicks in the trees at the edge of the meadow…
           This time, she couldn’t control her tears, and Kanan’s fingers were immediately brushing them away from the corners of her eyes as soon as she sucked in a strangled breath of air. “I feel…you’re so unhappy. You’re full of…pain, and despair. Hera, I don’t understand. Why do you feel like you’re losing something?”
           He doesn’t know. Oh stars, if there was only another way…But there wasn’t. She gently took one of his hands away from her face and held it in her own. “You can’t understand because you’re looking in the wrong place.”
           Kanan cocked his head. “What do you mean?”
           “You’re looking into my mind…” She held his hand up, paused, and pressed his fingers against the still-flat skin of her lower torso. “Try feeling here, and you’ll know why I’m so conflicted.”
           Hera wasn’t sure if he felt something in the Force or if he immediately understood her implication. “Hera–!”
           “Only five weeks,” she whispered. “I wasn’t assaulted in prison, so I definitely know it’s yours. And I know the date of conception. But only five weeks. Not that far along, really…” She trailed off as she noticed Kanan’s face shutting down, closing off all emotion. Oh no. She waited a few moments to allow him to process the news, to say something, anything, but he didn’t. “Kanan? Luv? Tell me—what’s going through your head right now?”
           He coughed. “Do you have any water?”
           “I—uh—yes. There’s a pitcher and some cups on the dresser. To the left of my ‘fresher.” He nearly banged his head on the top of the bunk as he stood up and held out his hand to feel his way along. “No, your left.”
           He bumped against the edge of the dresser and winced. “Do you want any?”
           This was definitely not the reaction she was expecting. “…sure. I guess.”
           Kanan poured two cups of water, spilling what seemed like half the jug before he was done. Hera took the cup from him so he could have a free hand to feel his way back to her side without hurting himself further. She sipped her water while he chugged his straight down and tossed the cup aside. “Kanan. Please. Talk to me.”
           He sighed. “I don’t…I don’t know where to begin.”
           “I don’t either. But we have to start somewhere.”
           “Well then…I suppose…did you ever want to be a mother?”
           Hera sat down her cup and wrapped the blanket tighter around herself. “I wasn’t lying when I told you that I hadn’t given much thought about my future after the war. But I started thinking about it when you nearly died.”
           Kanan’s breath came in a soft, weak gasp, and he pulled Hera into his arms. She melted into his embrace and felt his trembling. At least he doesn’t hate me. And he knows me well enough to know what my feelings are on this. Somehow, she allowed herself to speak about her dream life after the war: their quiet home together, the rooms for the rest of the family, their child playing in the yard outside. She felt his tears begin to run down his cheeks and drip on top of her lekku, and she knew that he could feel her sorrow in the Force.
           “You know,” he said slowly. “I hadn’t thought much about kids, either. But I started thinking about them more when we found the others. Especially Ezra. We’re like their parents already, aren’t we?”
           Hera chuckled, in spite of her pain. “We definitely are.”
           “And I started to think…it wouldn’t be so bad, to do it all over again. But with a baby of our own…”
           Hera closed her eyes and pressed herself against his chest. “But…?”
           Kanan swallowed; she could feel the effort it took him. “But I know you. And whatever you choose to do, no matter my feelings…I’ll support your decision. You’re the pregnant one, after all. You’re the one at risk. Its—it’s up to you.”
           “What are your feelings, Kanan?”
           “They don’t matter.”
           Hera sat back and cupped his face in her hands. “Yes, they do. I love you Kanan, and I wouldn’t have told you about this if I didn’t want to involve you, no matter what. So please, tell me your honest, true feelings.”
           “Honestly…I’d love nothing more than to have a baby with you. I don’t know when we’d get another chance, with the war…”
           Hera sobbed, half with relief and love, half with pain. “This damn war. It poisons everything it touches, including us. Our futures…”
           Kanan started to cry again. “I know you. And I know what you want to do. I know it already.”
           “I want this baby, too, but I don’t know how we’d make time. We can’t have a baby here, on the Ghost. It would be cruel just to bring it into the world and have it blow up with us in battle. Or die from some sickness.” Everyone knew babies didn’t thrive in prolonged periods in space. “And we can’t send it to my father; you know how dangerous it is on Ryloth.” She’d told him about her brother before, and he nodded. She started to cry again, and they held each other for long, painful minutes. Stang, I don’t want to do this. But I have to. What other choice do I have? I can’t leave the war. Not while others suffer. But at least I won’t have to do this alone.
           But, for some reason, she felt tension in Kanan’s arms. Hera pulled back again. “What is it?” Why do you look so…guilty?
           “We could leave the Rebellion and raise the baby together. Or get an abortion.” Hera made a sound of assent in the back of her throat. “Or…there’s another option.”
           “What are you talking about?”
           “What if I were to leave the Rebellion, maybe with Ezra, and the two of us raise the baby while you and the others keep fighting?”

Not…oh karabast, I don’t know how to explain it. But whatever it was, it gave me a feeling: that I needed to leave the conflict, or else I wouldn’t get a second chance to live. For some reason, Ezra’s been getting a weird feeling, too. Not quite the same as me, I don’t think, but he’s been hinting that we need to leave and do more Jedi work away from the rest of the group. Maybe something similar happened to him when he was younger. I don’t know. I haven’t been able to ask. But…”
           Hera stood up. “After everything that happened, you were just going to leave us?” Leave me? She couldn’t fault him for listening to his visions, but it stung, especially after she’d finally opened up and bared her soul to him for the first time in years. I give you my love and you leave. “Whatever happened to being careful about listening your visions? Or was that all just a bunch of Jedi nonsense you were feeding to Ezra? Hmm?”

           “So you’re going to run away because of some half-remembered whispers?”
           He felt for her hand and pulled her back onto the bunk. “Hera Syndulla, I love you. I love you more than I ever knew I was capable of loving someone. And I wouldn’t leave you and the others unless I was absolutely certain that this vision was something I needed to listen to. It’s going to kill me inside to do it, but I believe it’s what must be done if we want to survive. What if there are other Inquisitors out there? And what if Vader decides to end us once and for all, especially with what happened at the fuel depot? I’m stronger now, Ezra and I both are, but we couldn’t defeat him. And I couldn’t let the rest of you be put in jeopardy because you’ve got two Force-users leaving a trail for a Sith Lord to follow.”
           Hera squeezed his hand. Just a bit. “So…you’d leave? And raise the baby? Are you sure you could do it? With your blindness?”
           “Ezra could be my eyes and help out. And think about it: we could keep the house while you’re all away, and you could visit whenever you wanted, and keep fighting. And you’d know that there’d always be a home for you to return to, and the minute you wanted out of the fight, we’d be there, waiting for you.”
           Hera turned away. “Could you really do that? Wait at home while we risked our lives out on the battlefield?”
           Kanan sighed. “I��d be happiest if you were home with us. And I want to keep fighting, same as you. But if we could make some of your dream come true this way…I’d bow out.” His voice caught, and Hera suddenly realized how hard this all was for him. “Just…promise me one thing. Could you do that?”
           Hera took his hands again. “Ask me first.”
           “If this war keeps dragging on…will you consider finding a window of opportunity to leave? And be with us?”
           Could you do that? Leave the fight, even if it wasn’t over? But Kanan was sacrificing part of his happiness, too. He’d be worrying every day, watching their child, waiting for her to come home. And if she never did, all he’d have was their baby to remind himself of how happy they could’ve been. Hera reached over and cupped his cheek in her hand, her heart bursting with love for him. “Yes. I will consider it, Kanan, knowing that you’re waiting for me. You’re the only one who could make me leave this fight. You…and the baby.”
           Kanan sobbed with joy and pulled her into a crushing hug. They cried together again, but Hera’s joy was bittersweet. Why can’t I get to fully enjoy my dream? I want to be at home with Kanan and the baby. But I can’t. Not just yet.
           But this way, there was a chance to have that future, when there otherwise wouldn’t be. And Hera Syndulla’s life was never fair from the moment she was born; she knew it, and wasn’t one to dwell on it for long. Besides, there were much more wonderful things to think about. A baby. We’re having a baby. “If I don’t miscarry, that is,” she muttered to herself.
           Kanan frowned. “What was that?”
           Hera wiped her eyes and looked around to find some tissues for them both. “Sorry, thinking out loud.”
           “About miscarrying?”
           Hera found some tissues and grabbed them. She passed a few to Kanan and blew her nose. “Just…it would be awful for us to go to all this trouble just for me to miscarry after the stress of a fight.”
           “Hmm. You’re right. Maybe we could hang back for a while and do some logistics work. At least until you’re further along.”
           “I’m going to have to find a way to hide this pregnancy, Kanan. If Inquisitors are still out there, hunting down Force-sensitive children, they’ll come for our baby, I’m sure of it.” She paused. “Is there a chance the baby could be Force-sensitive?”
           Kanan blew his nose and she took it from him to throw in the trash. “I don’t know. There was a pretty big taboo about getting pregnant at the Temple, if you could imagine that. But I guess there’s a strong possibility of it.”
           “Then we’ll have to hide my pregnancy. No one can know about it. Well…maybe Mon Mothma. But she’s it, outside of the crew.”
           “I…oh damn, I think that means that I’ll have to fake my death. Ezra, too, if he comes along to help out.”
           Hera banged her head on the top of her bunk. “Ow! What?!”
           “Careful, careful—the baby—“
           “A bruised lek won’t kill the baby, Kanan. But faking your death—“
           “Well, that’s what we’ll have to do if we want to make sure we’re not tracked down. If everyone believes without a shadow of a doubt that we’re gone, no one will come looking for us. And your “grief” will give you an excuse to pull back for a few months, while you need to hide the bump.” Kanan suddenly moved off the bed and ran to the tiny ‘fresher.
           “Kanan!” But he waved her away, and she hung back, waiting until he was done vomiting. Then, she found a rag and wet it from the remaining water in the jug. She went over to Kanan, who was still slumped over the toilet. She pulled him away from the bowl and gently began wiping his face. “I’m the one who’s supposed to be getting morning sickness, remember?”
           He snorted, but let her keep tending him. “It’s just…we’re going to have to make sure everyone thinks, beyond a doubt, that we’re dead. And that means leaving no body— ” He turned around to retch again, but nothing came up. “And that means—fire, and explosions—“
           “Oh, Kanan…” She held him until the panic attack—or flashback, whatever it was—subsided, and he’d calmed down again. “We’ll find a way to make it work. A safe way. If there’s anyone who could do it, it would be Sabine.”
           “And how could I do that to Ezra? Put him at risk like that?”
           “Well, we have to tell him about the baby, first. We’ll have to tell everyone. But, for right now, let’s just go lie down.” She helped him to his feet and into her bed. They crawled under the covers together, and Hera settled comfortably into his arms. I don’t know how I lived without this for so long. This feels so right, to be here with him.
           Kanan’s eyes were drooping. “Don’t you have a shift soon?”
           Hera’s fatigue was setting in again. “I’ll just tell one of the others that I have a call to take from someone in Rebel command. They’ll understand. Or Chopper can take the shift.” She yawned and couldn’t keep her eyes open. “I’ll deal with it later.”
           They fell asleep, wary about the future, but both full to the brim with love for each other and the life beginning in Hera’s body.

Okay, so I promise that this story is going to get happier, okay? There’s just a lot of depressing stuff that needs to be ironed out in this first chapter. It’s not going to be all sunshine and roses, but it will have a happy ending.
I also was originally going to have Kanan and Ezra faking their deaths by pretending to blow up when the rebels attacked a weapons supply store. They were going to dig tunnels underneath and be well-away before the explosion happened, but were going to pretend to be killed by the fire/explosion/falling debris. It hits so close to home in light of the midseason premiere that I don’t know if I can do it.
Or maybe I will. Because I’m kind of sadistic.
Also, the reference to Kanan being “warned” to escape is the reference to my multi-fandom story. There’s some Prisoner of Azkaban-level time travel shenanigans that go on, but it’s not “adult Kanan visits ‘lil Caleb”. It’s a lot more complicated and I don’t feel comfortable explaining it.

Love your veins (or how to avoid  and deal with phlebitis and dvt) - a tale of love by me
okay my dears, this is something thats pretty common but i don’t see discussed a lot. granted, it’s more common on older ppl but prevention goes a long way. 
before i start i will say that i am not a doctor. the info here was based on google, my own experience, and information my angiologist gave me during visits. if you suspect you may have phlebitis and/or dvt (deep vein thrombosis), or think you are at high risk, please go see a doctor for a proper diagnosis asap.
i’m a 25-year-old woman that was diagnosed with phlebitis and at high risk of deep vein thrombosis (dvt). these conditions are actually not that common at this age (my angio said that most of his patients with these are middle-aged), but i am/was at high risk since some minor veins in my legs were located in odd places and/or not working at full capacity pretty much since birth.
what is happening here is that the veins in mainly the legs (and in rare cases, the arms) are having trouble pumping the blood back up to the upper body, so they start to swell in certain places and spots start to appear on the skin like this

the pinkish-red spots are the most recent ones (a two weeks or a bit less), the brownish ones are the oldest (started to appear ~3 months ago). the older spots have run their course at this point and won’t really give much trouble anymore thanks to the treatment.
when spots being to appear, they are pink-red and start to hurt when applied a bit of pressure. the area also is itchy as hell (please don’t scratch it). if you apply pressure with your hand or fingers, you will feel a bit of a lump.
note: if your legs/arms start to swell, that mite be an edema and prolly means the whole thing is progressing. please go to a doctor asap.
so, you may ask, that sounds kinda awful, but can it get worse?
answer is: depends. if treated early, the spots will run their course and dissappear after a couple months of treatment. if not, it can progress to dvt.
the dangers are:
-higher risk of blood clots
-if untreated, the spots can turn into ulcers
-the clots can cause pulmonary embolism, which can be fatal
-more varicose veins
okay, sooooo, the fuck can i do? am i at risk?
good question! even if you are young, there are many things you can do for prevention!
First of all, you can be at high risk for the following reasons:
a) are obese
b) have hormonal issues (women and ppl with hrt are at higher risk)
c) have varicose veins
d) have health problems (or your family has a medical history) related to the circulatory system
e) have health problems (or your family has a medical history) related to blood clotting 
As for prevention
1. Weight: As someone who is overweight, i know how shitty it is to live with people concern-trolling, using health as an excuse when they really mean appearance, and doctors ignoring your concerns with non-weight related issues (happened to me once when i went to a doctor for bronchitis). it sucks and fat-shaming a real thing that needs to stop. however, more weight means more pressure on the lower veins and harder time for the blood to go back up. the goal here is not to be skinny, but to be more aware of your own weight if you are at higher risk). my angio has told me that i don’t need to be skinny, just try to eat healthy and avoid obesity.
2. Compression stockings, socks, pantyhose, holy shit: These will be your besties if you are under treatment, or just are in prevention mode. 
it is important, tho, to be super careful with the level of pressure of the stockings. Higher levels of pressure are more expensive and harder to find in common stores.
Pressure is measured in mmHg (milimeters of mercury) 
*8-15 mmHg are the mildest and the best if you wanna use them but are not at high risk. These are great if you spent long hours sitting down or standing up in one place. They are also good for traveling and during a pregnancy. Wear them for a couple hours a day, or during at work of you sit down/stand up in one spot during your shift. Your veins will love you for it.
*15-20 mmHg are also mild, and good if you are at high risk or you are starting to develop varicose veins.
*20-30 mmHg are the kind i wear, and what people start to use when phlebitis starts to kick in. pressure can go up to 30-40 and 40-50. from this point onwards it is better to talk to a doctor or angiologist to see what pressure level works best (tho, even then, 40-50 are for super extreme cases).
also, it is very important to check your calf, ankle and feet measurements when picking a size (brands will usually provide a chart) because pressure does not apply equally to all parts under the stocking. if you are tall, have large feet, or big calves (me on that last one), places like amazon sell plus sizes and stockings with wider calves.

3. Raise your legs: this helps blood flow a lot. when sitting down, find something (a bed, table, another chair) to raise them for a bit. 
For example, when i go to sleep, i do this

it is not super high, but it keeps my feet up while sleeping. if you are at work/don’t have enough space, try to stand up and stretch your legs for a minute or two every one or two hours.
4. Exercise: exercise helps with blood flow as well. walking, swimming, and biking (either regular or stationary bike) are the best kinds of exercise.
Keep in mind, tho, if you have already been diagnosed with phlebitis, dvt, or a similar circulatory condition, weight-lifting and squats may do more harm that good (yoga is controversial, opinions vary from “avoid” to “do it but stick to the basics”. the goal is to aid blood flow, and some execises such as weight-lifting can add more pressure to the veins. in my case, i am restricted to just walking, swimming and biking. 
5. Eat healthy: Lots of salt and fat can be bad when blood has trouble going up. If you really need help, there are many online resources for healthy eating, or consult a certified dietitian for a diet plan tailored to your tastes and needs.
6. Avoid high heels: they are terrible. stick to low heels and flats, use medium once in a blue moon. if you really like high heels, then maybe save them for a special occasion or holiday.
