The Maryland House of Delegates voted Saturday to approve the Trans Health Equity Act — a bill that just a year ago disappeared from the chamber’s agenda ahead of a floor vote.
The bill would require Maryland Medicaid, beginning on Jan. 1, 2024, to provide coverage for additional gender-affirming treatments, which are currently disallowed in the state’s plan but commonly covered by private insurance. The expanded treatments include hormone therapy, hair alteration, voice therapy, physical alterations to the body, and fertility preservation.

Making naloxone available more widely is seen as a key strategy to control the nationwide overdose crisis. Effects begin within two minutes when given intravenously, and within five minutes when injected into a muscle. The medicine can also be administered by spraying it into a person's nose.

Jotaro probably couldn’t be paid to watch a musical. Whether it’s live on stage or a movie, he simply won’t budge. His only quiet exception to that, are actually animated movies. Suspension of disbelief is much easier for him in that medium specifically. That said, he doesn’t really watch animated movies all that often anyways. Oh, well. His favorite: Swears he doesn’t have one (it’s Disney’s Oliver and Company).
Much like his grouch of a grandson, Mr. Joestar generally doesn’t like musicals. He’s a lot easier to nudge into seeing one, though. That is, at least, when it comes to his wife. Suzi Q loves going to live shows, and drags him to a good amount. In her eyes, they live in New York City- they must go to live shows! So, despite claiming he doesn’t care for them, Mr. Joestar still manages to have a weirdly educated opinion on them. Plus, being a casual enjoyer of musicals at best, he does have a movie musical or two close to his heart. His favorite: Funny Girl.
Now, if someone with a secret affinity for musicals is what you’re searching for, Avdol is exactly where you should turn your attention. He quite likes live stage performances, whether it’s a musical or a play. Easily prefers them over movie musicals and will jump at the opportunity to see a stage version instead. Avdol especially favors funny and lighthearted musicals that aim to make audiences laugh. He’s even seen a show in New York with Mr. and Mrs. Joestar. He vows that never again will he see a musical with Mr. Joestar after that experience; next time him and Suzi Q will have to leave him at home. His favorite: Something Rotten!
Throughout his childhood, Kakyoin was the type to scoff and turn his nose up away from musicals. His mother used to let classics like Hello, Dolly! and Singing in the Rain play on their family TV more times then the redhead can count- much to his annoyance. But then, upon reaching his late teens, he ended up watching Little Shops of Horrors by chance one night. Since then, macabre and (admittedly) weird musicals float his boat. Give him the oddest or most unconventional musical choice imaginable, and he’s bound to enjoy himself a little. His favorite: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
A true softie at heart, Polnareff adores classic musicals focused on soft romance. Although not one to go see stage performances, he’ll happily watch an old movie musical from time to time. That said, his modern musical exception is probably something massively successful like Hamilton or The Book of Mormon. Once, him and Mr. Joestar sang the song Rose’s Turn in the car together on the Crusaders’ way out of India. The side-eye Kakyoin and Jotaro threw to one another during it was a clear enough indication that it was meant to be a one-time thing. His favorite: West Side Story.
Iggy loves stage musicals. No, seriously, any chance for people to go away and leave him be for hours on end- he’ll take.

I need world-building questions for royalty and class systems, please
Sure!
Worldbuilding questions to get the creative juices flowing 32
Theme: Class Systems
Tumblr media
Now it's been awhile since I've researched or worldbuilt this stuff, so I did some side research to make sure I'm bright on ideas
Now class systems are very very complicated. I'm not very confident in them myself, so at the end I've added some nice videos to watch, thing to research on, and places to start.
How many classes is your society divided into? Is it a feudalism system, caste system, slave system, or something else?
Can all classes take part in the ruling class? If not what classes can? What roles in society can rule? Is the ruling class its own class?
How is the population distributed by class? How is the hierarchy built? Who has it the worst? Who has it the best?
What advantages does each class have? What disadvantages does each class have? What decides who's in what class?
Class systems are not just divided by economic status. In fact they can be divided by many things at once. So what divides yours? (race, economic status, birthright, religious, species, magic branches)
What helps keep lower classes low? What helps keep higher classes high?
What type of change is occuring? Is it more peaceful? More chaotic? More violent? Is it looking successful?
What cultural divides play into classes? How does culture differ across classes?
What group controls the society? How does this group do so? What could happen to cause this group to lose this power?
If the current ruling class was overthrown what would the aftermath be like?
Not every class runs off of our five modern ones. Go back in time and class systems change sometimes drastically. So name your class levels. Where do these names derive from?
What class systems did the society go through in the past? How does this affect their modern day?
How do class groups view each other? Is there discrimination? Is there privilege?
What decides a class' value? What makes them that valuable?
What does education, economic status, and potential religion do for the class system?
What does the current events; war, sickness, alliances, etc; affect the class system? (These events tend to be great moments for classes to change)

Judge Leonardo Brant (Brazil): [email protected]
Judge Xue Hanqin (China): [email protected]
And here is an email chain, taken from twitter here! They have more specific copy-pastes, like calling the ICJ “Madam President” or “Vice President, but the general one is below!”
Subject: Urgent Concerns Regarding the impending matter of South Africa v. Israel with the ICJ
Dear Honourable Judge [JUDGE NAME HERE]
I hope this message finds you well and resolute. My name is [Your Name], I am a concerned citizen of the [Your Country]. I am reaching out to you with a sense of urgency and sincere apprehension which prompts me to break my customary silence.
I have always held the belief that individuals in positions of authority, such as yourself, harbour the best interests of humanity at heart. However, recent developments in the Middle East and the global response to them have stirred doubt in my convictions, compelling me to express my concerns directly to you.
As I explored the International Court of Justice's website, I took solace in the fact that it consists of "independent judges, elected regardless of their nationality from among persons of high moral character." With this understanding, I address you regarding the impending South Africa v. Israel matter, the provisional measures hearing of which is scheduled for Thursday, 11th and Friday, 12th January 2024.
I am sure that you are acutely aware of the gravity of the case before you, and I believe that your ability to discern the truth, resist external pressures, and deliver a just judgment is foremost on your mind. The Genocide Convention, a cornerstone of international law, was established in 1948 as a commitment to 'never again' allow atrocities akin to those committed by the Nazi’s in WW2. 152 states out of 194 nations of the world honourably signed up to the convention. It is a testament to our parents and grandparents that their generations committed to a set of standards that constitute the basic principles of right and wrong, which underpin the fabric of the world we live in and form the basis of the lives most of us are lucky enough to lead.
The very fact that the responsibility of adjudicating on this case has fallen upon your shoulders underscores a disheartening truth – the failure of existing systems of checks and balances within the international community. It is disconcerting that national interests have tainted the operations of our global systems, allowing the mass killing of civilians to persist without intervention. I find this reality appalling, as do countless citizens around the world who have expressed their horror through protests on the streets of cities across the globe.
The upcoming case is a litmus test for humanity's commitment to the solemn pledge of 'Never Again.' Generations have been educated about the horrors of the Holocaust, and this case challenges us to live up to the principles we profess. It is a stark reminder that the values we hold dear are being tested in real-time, with devastating consequences.
In March 2022, the International Court of Justice ordered Russia to immediately suspend military operations in Ukraine and ensure that affiliated units take no further steps in furtherance of the military operations. Despite this intervention, an estimated 10,000 civilians have tragically lost their lives in Ukraine since Russia's military operation in 2022. Moreover, and by comparison, the death toll in Gaza has already surpassed 22,000 since October 2023, with a staggering 70% of the victims being women and children.
In an age where mainstream media faces scepticism due to perceived biases, the global community has been witness to Israel's actions in real-time through various social media platforms such as X, TikTok, and Telegram. Enclosed with this letter, you'll find compelling evidence pointing towards Israel's culpability in intending to commit genocide and engaging in genocidal military actions, among other alleged war crimes.
We find ourselves in a world where trust in global institutions is eroding rapidly. The International Court of Justice, in particular, cannot afford to make an erroneous judgment in the #SouthAfrica v. #Israel genocide case. A misjudgement in this matter would not only underscore the ICJ's ineffectiveness but also prompt scrutiny regarding its autonomy from nation-state political influences, potentially compromising the esteemed moral character of the individuals involved.
In 1945 we celebrated Winston Churchill as the leader that brought the world together in war to put-down the threat of Nazi Germany and the horror it inflicted. That war claimed over 50 million lives. We do not wish to celebrate a wartime hero again; we wish to celebrate new heroes who averted a war by presiding over justice without fear or favour.
I humbly beseech you to approach this case with the utmost diligence, impartiality, and commitment to justice. The eyes of the world are upon you, and the outcome of this particular case will reverberate through history, shaping perceptions of the ICJ's impartiality and moral standing.
Yours sincerely,
(Insert Name)
Also, here’s a bigass link about what’s being done and what you can do
And here’s a link where you can search for protests near you (remember, never give your personal information away if you’re going to a protest—don’t announce it publicly or nothing, yadda yadda):
hope this helps :D!

"Poker always works"
by Christian Von Hocke, originally written 24 July 2009 for Zeit Online (x)
Formula 1 pro Nico Rosberg talks in an interview about his life as a globetrotter, exotic food and his preferences for other sports.
Question: Mr. Rosberg, like right now in Budapest, you're on the road all year round with Formula 1 around the world. Don't you sometimes get homesick?
Nico Rosberg: I've had nine hotels in four weeks, which is exhausting. But homesick? No. I really enjoy traveling, it's very educational and very interesting. That's what I would also do in my free time: get to know new countries, discover new people, the way they live.
Question: So you've turned a hobby into a profession right alongside driving.
Rosberg: Yes, there are many places in the world that I would like to see and that excite me. I'm also planning a big trip during the winter break. I'm interested in India, for example, with its spirituality, or South America, Patagonia, a safari in South Africa. Even just hiking. That's not something I would normally do, but it's good for the body's regeneration. There's so much I can do, I'm just afraid that I'll take on too much and it will end up being too stressful.
Question: Michael Schumacher has regretted that he never saw anything of the Grand Prix venues apart from the airport and the track. Do you also explore the cities where you race?
Rosberg: Yes, especially at the overseas races. I have a bit more time there because we always arrive a bit earlier due to the time change. But even so, there's always the Saturday evening before or the Monday after the race. We have great races in interesting cities like Melbourne or Singapore or Shanghai.
Question: And what do you do there?
Rosberg: I go into town. I have a nice meal in a restaurant or go out for a drink or shopping in the evening, or I go to the beach and go surfing. Or I look at the special features of the city. I'm also very interested in photography and always have my big camera with me.
Question: But traveling can also be quite stressful. Can you sleep on the plane?
Rosberg: No, very badly. I have to lie horizontally and need rest so that I can concentrate on falling asleep, otherwise it doesn't work. For that reason alone, I have to fly business class. That's not a problem in Europe, where I always have my camper van to take me to the tracks.
Question: There are 17 Formula 1 races in 2009 alone. Have you ever woken up and not known which city you were in?
Rosberg: Not that, but I was once at the airport at check-in, and the woman asked me: Where are you flying to? And I didn't know. I'd been to four or five different countries that week, I was tired and unfocused, and I just couldn't think of it. She looked at me like I was stupid (laughs).
Question: Do you sometimes wish you had an office job from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where you could throw your coat over the hook and stretch your legs in front of the TV when you're done working?
Rosberg: No. Whether it's a nine-to-five job or a Formula 1 racing driver isn't that important. I don't know if it would make anyone else happier if they led my life. My friends all have nine-to-five jobs, and they're no less happy than I am. It's always what you make of it that matters.
Question: But you also need a bit of home, don't you? Many people always have their music player with them to simulate a feeling of home wherever they go.
Rosberg: I'm not a music fan. I got an iPod as a gift, but I haven't really used it yet. For me, it's the cell phone. It connects me with friends and family. That's cool, I can also use it to go on the Internet. When I don't have it with me, I feel very naked. Like today, I don't even know what's going on anymore.
Question: Anyone who travels so much must have acquaintances all over the world.
Rosberg: That's true - wherever I go in the world, there are my best friends. I know them either through racing or from the past. I grew up in Monaco, and nobody stays there. Today, my old friends are everywhere, in Australia, China, America or South Africa. I can call them up and ask if we want to have a drink.
Question: Can you maintain hobbies while traveling?
Rosberg: I like to play football, but I rarely do that when I'm traveling. Poker is always on. I'm not very proud of it, actually it's nonsense to sit in front of a computer and play poker. But it's fun. Otherwise: eating. Does that count? I already see it as a hobby, I love to eat for my life, delicacies, creative, new things, especially country-related. I was in Marrakech with my girlfriend the other day, they have gigantic food there.
Question: In your travels, do you notice how places in the world change from year to year, and not just in terms of cuisine?
Rosberg: Yes. My parents have a country house in Aix-en-Provence. At first it was quite isolated, but now it's become a huge settlement with an industrial area.
Question: Let's be honest: What is your least favorite place in the world?
Rosberg: Kuala Lumpur. We're always just sitting around at the airport there (laughs).

Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland (2013) and Neel Mukherjee’s The Lives of Others (2014), that embody this tendency: a universalization that, in fact, neither comprehends nor sympathizes with the social and political contradictions in contemporary South Asia.
Both novels place at the center of their narrative what is commonly referred to as the Naxalite movement, which began in 1967 with a peasant uprising in Naxalbari, a village in northern Bengal near the Nepal border. Initially led by armed members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the movement later broke away to form the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and has largely followed Mao’s doctrine of “people’s war.” Begun in the countryside, it spread to the cities during the 1970s, attracting significant numbers of educated, unemployed youth energized by the peasants’ struggle for rights and recognition. A brutal counteroffensive, empowered by draconian anti-terrorist laws, brought the first phase of the movement to an end. In both novels, the central figures are Naxalite militants. Their immersion in the movement, together with the fallout of their decisions on the lives of those around them, largely propels the narrative in both.
By placing an emancipatory movement at the core of their novels, Lahiri and Mukherjee also place the politics of resistance front and center. And yet, even though both novels are structured by the political actions of key characters, neither author is able to muster an empathetic understanding of their characters’ actions. Moreover, the very idea of a life of struggle is made to appear at best quaint, at worst objectionable. In both novels, politics remains something imposed on the characters, an external, impinging force—but never a source of self-actualization. Instead it serves as a source of dislocation, self-doubt, broken relationships and disrupted lives. Each novel exposes its author’s inability to perceive the political as an intrinsic aspect of the individual being.
Hence, while each of the authors locates a politics of resistance at their novel’s center and views that politics through a universalizing prism, neither can fathom its attraction. Such an approach to emancipatory politics reinforces the neoliberal view that all resistance is doomed because there are no possible alternatives to the current order. And although both authors seem to want to escape an ethos where resistance is viewed as futile, neither is able to do so. As a result, neither is able to engage, much less express, the internal lives of their own central characters. Because of this, they remain limited, not just as post-colonial novels but simply as novels.

"This is why the UK signed an agreement to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and is looking to sign up to agreements with India and South America. There are tens of millions of middle-class families, in those regions, eager to send their children to UK Universities for one of the best educations money can buy.
"The UK government are eager to have them because their money helps to subsidise our tertiary education sector.
"This is why private contractors are so keen to keep building more and more PBSA. There is an almost inexhaustible supply of customers, all more than happy to contribute to their profits."
And our own middle class and rich. This is how students can be big gentrifiers, and how unis can play a part in destroying a cities' heritage and culture, when they "regenerate" an area to build shite student housing
In Nottingham they knock down historic buildings for shite student lets, here they've built gated estates designed to keep Tarquin and Henry safe from the rugged hard face northern locals
