Double or Nothing Casino - Triple Triad (2/2)

Thank you to the Astral Advent and our hosts, Clover Greenwoode and Gigimai Zuzumai! Gregos had fun helping out the Triple Triad Tournament. (2/2). Here are all of the participants (sorry if I missed anyone!).

The Cards and the Scrolls

The young Raen girl found herself on her knees outside the wench in early morning. Little did Izumi know she would have such a chance encounter with a miqote named Beexu. The only problem being the language barrier between them. Calling upon the help of Fier, the seeker and the midlander were about to find out what was leaving the Raen in such distress. Her employer, one Saelsria Grumble, had been taken by the notorious Fox Gang...for the second time. The gang had made it’s way over to Eorzea after the Hellsguard slipped from their capture only a few moons before. They had tracked him down and waited for the trade prince to be alone so they could finally strike. A sight Izumi saw with her very eyes but was unable to stop by herself. 

Izumi quickly showed them to the area where the kidnapping had happened. She pointed out where the Hellsguard was standing and where she was able to take cover and hide. The party found nothing but a dagger thrown from high elevation and a trail of blood. With enough information to back the Raen’s claims, the midlander found it prudent to finally reveal to Beexu just who went missing. Needless to say, there was no delay in assembling the team.

Sterrbhar, Aerik, and Alec all arrived at the moment’s notice. With all those who were able to present, they set out to follow the blood tail on to the rain forest of eastern La Noscea. Following a trail of corrupted aether they fell right into the enemy’s hands. 

Before they could realize they had been set upon by four members of the Fox gang. Dressed in black garbs, blood red chain mail chest armor and adorned with black fox masks they poised for an attack. A barrage of blade, fist and spell was thrown throughout the battlefield as the two parties battled. The battle was close to its end but the final fox called forth his trump card with his dying breath. Pulling free a scroll, he pulled it open and smeared his blood upon its words. Upon expiring, a large toad was called forth as per ninki contract. The red monster was large enough to almost reach the top of the canopy and attacked the party.

But, the cards and fate were with them. As Izumi drew from her deck, their fortune smiled upon them. Azeyma’s balance lent it’s aid to the party and granted them great strength. Each member assaulted with the creature with new found fury. Tearing it to shreds in a display of petals, the toad falls and left the very scroll that summoned it on the floor.

Izumi rushed to the scroll and did her best to read the doman script behind the blood. The writing spoke of three scrolls, the toad, the snake, and the slug, only with the three assembled could they dispell the genjutsu that miraged the Fox gang's hide out.  “The Siren’s Game is a beautiful schooner, is it not?”

The Seeker’s boat was more of a cargo ship than anything that Beexu tried to claim it was. Regardless, it was a fairly nice ship, indeed. So much that Uzu decided to tag along for a small, spontaneous voyage, despite a recently broken leg.

 In the dead of the night, the Seeker desired time on the mast, and Uzu was neither in a state or a mood to join her. So he was left alone in the Captain’s Quarters, with his thoughts.

 One Beexu Spiritbreaker. An eccentric little thing, yes. Opened the boy up to the wonderful world of open love, open sex. Open... living, one could suppose. And on one hand, the boy is happy with it. The thrill of many partners, the thrill of being able to fuck and love multiple people! It’s a dream for the inner pervert that lives within all!

 And yet, on the other hand, it makes the boy miserable. Ideas of not being enough, incompetence, being... forgotten.

The boy glances out at the swaying seas through the quarters’ window. Pondering the second hand of things. Despite her clear devotion of words, holding burning coils, and even moving in with the boy, it’s clear that the Seeker’s heart desires to be a wandering thing until it ceases to beat. She had even told him herself:

  “A symphony of hearts is what I want.”

 A reasonable thing to want, yes. And she made her stance clear. And what kind of person would the boy be to deny a woman’s wishes? Hells, the boy wanted to follow in her footsteps, he’d want his own symphony. And yet...

After a while, the Seeker returns from her moment of isolation within the skies. A cute yawn, an undoing of boots, and the lass is already back in bed with the boy, coiling her arms, legs and tail to him. Gets all nice and comfortable, enjoying the warmth of the hyur without much of a melancholy thought.

 It seems Uzu’s heart and the Siren’s Game are at a bout, to see which could sway the most.

Aro’a Erah, father - A Sharlayan researcher who married and convinced Io’s mother to return with him to his homeland. Whereabouts unknown.

Iyrmirth, mother (adopted) - An elder dragon of Ratatoskrs’ brood. Once injured during the Dragonsong War, she was found and healed by on Esme Saar and befriended the woman and her daughter. She has been tasked with watching over and guiding Io, taking over the role of her mother in many ways and teaching her the ways of dragons. Though she continues to follow her wanderlust through the skies, still mourning the loss of her own mother.

Braxis Wynterwulf, father (adopted) - An Ishgardian noble who was responsible for mentoring and teaching Io the ways a dragoon. Since then, he has officially adopted her, becoming the father figure she never had.

A different time and a very different girl with a mystery revolving around her current fears of entering the Black Shroud.

It was heartening to hear Berrod speak again. I still think fondly back at Rhaglr’s Stone. We were now at another one. One we couldn’t be at before. One bought with more blood. And he spoke of tolerance.

To understand the views of others can be different, though towards the same end. To realize the potential within ourselves in reviewing these different views. And to see what we work so hard towards includes having tolerance.

A strong balance to have. A hard thing to say for all the changes I have seen happen with him. And I only have a sparing glance.

The greatest monk I knew stayed one of the greatest men I have met.

Double or Nothing Casino Event at Astral Advent

Thank you, generous hosts!

Jancis got to borrow some of Natja’s amazing wardrobe (even if it needed a few pins to keep it from hanging too long on the midlander’s short frame) and escorted Maril around to watch games. Before the two knew it, they were whisked away into playing the games of chance! Beexu gave Jancis her token after throwing a drink in Autgar’s face. Combined with Maril’s determined win, and some excellent party play at the roulette table it all paid off.

Jancis walked away with an armful of prizes for the little ones!
