nicola and luke choosing mirror as their one word to describe part 2 is like. yeah of course they're referencing what we all know they're referencing (and i love that for us, lives will be changed) but what if it goes beyond that? what if it's mirror, as in colin and pen are reflections of each other. mirror, as in they see the versions of themselves that nobody else gets to see. mirror, as in even on your worst days, you still have to look at yourself and make peace with what you see. mirror, as in accepting the ugliest parts of yourself.

From chapter 12 of The Boundless Echoes of Liminal Skies:

“You really are a fiend,” the angel griped as he straightened up and smoothed out his pilfered clothing.

“Rules is rules,” Crowley gave him his most savage grin, “Well done, though.”

Aziraphale pinched up his face and opened his mouth as though to make a snarky rebuttal when the demon noticed. A small smudge of powdered sugar had somehow survived both their trip to the garden and their flight across the Channel.

Before Crowley could stop himself, he was stepping into Aziraphale’s space and muttering, “You’ve just got something there.” Then he was brushing his knuckles gently over the soft skin of the angel’s cheek. The warmth of his skin sent the demon’s stomach aflutter and before impulse could drive him any further, it was over. The tingling sensation of the slight bristle of hair against his hand lingered as he stepped back.

Aziraphale’s face was flushed as he stood beneath the oil street lamp.

“Thank you,” the angel said looking down, bashfully, at his hands clasped in front of him.

“My pleasure,” Crowley said earnestly as he turned and started down the street, “G’night, Angel.”
