Hi! It's been a year. Ang bilis ng panahon no? Yung kast post ko pa dito malungkot, pero unfortunately, wala narin kami after ilang days nung pinost ko. Saktong Feb 14. Ang malas ko talaga ng Feb 14, lahat ng naging ex ko tuwing feb 14 lagi ang hiwalayan. Hayyy.

Pero ngayon masaya na ako. Parang feel na feel ko na yung Rozuel ulit. Yung masayahin, ma-appreciate ng paligid. Ang saya ko kasi binigyan ako ni Lord ng mababait ba kaibigan. Sa office at sa galaan. Sobrang laki ng ambag nila kung ano ako ngayon, madami akong natutunan sa buhay dahil sa past relationship ko. Sooobrang dami. Be faithful lang talaga kay God no matter what. Hindi ako nag doubt sa nangyayari sakin dahil alam ko ni redirect lang to ni God.

Alam mo, ang lungkot ko. Wala ata ako kasama magcelebrate sa birthday ko.. Nakakapagod maging Strong İndependent haha. Kailan ko kaya mararanasan na may masasandalan akong tao, sa ups and downs ng buhay ko? Yung parang bff mo pero partner sa buhay. Basta ganon haha. Si Lord nalang nakakaalam ng specific checklist ko sa isang guy. Ang lungkot lang kasi gusto nila na mag attend ako sa mismong birthday ko ng ibang birthday, papaano naman ako? Gusto rin naman na ma celebrate ko yung birthday ko sa mismong araw na yun. Hayyy.. siguro gagala nalang ako magisa kasama yung aso ko. Wala naman akong ineexpect rin..

back into routine 🌱

For the last three months, I took a step back from posting to focus more on myself. Having started to work full-time recently, I neglected my personal well-being and needed kind of a reset.

Here is what I do now to feel much better about myself:

go to sleep earlier: I used to sleep about 6 hours per night. Then I read "Why we sleep" by Matthew Walker and it changed my life. Since then, I aim to sleep 8 hours per night and I feel so much more refreshed in the morning.

work out in the morning: After work, I usually feel very tired and am not at all in the mood to work out. Instead, I started working out directly after getting up in the morning and it makes me feel more energized and strong.

move my body more in general: I now go for a walk in the afternoon or in the morning on my rest days. I can think deeply on those walks, listen to inspiring podcasts, or call a friend or relative on the way.

drink more water: There were some days where I drank more coffee than water - to be honest, this just could not be healthy at all. I bought a water bottle that subtly reminds me to drink every 30 minutes and I feel so much better overall. Now I drink 2-3 litres per day!

eat more nutritional meals: I used to snack every so often and have heavy meals in the evening, leading to bloating and just not feeling very well in general. Now I have balanced meals for breakfast and lunch and simply have a nice salad in the evening. For reading, I totally recommend "The Diet Compass" by Bas Kast here!

re-evaluated my relationships: Some people make you feel good, some don't. I started spending less time with those who don't and more with those that are laughing with me, not about me.

have less screen time: Being in front of a desktop the whole workday, I simply set up a timer on my phone to spend less time on it and social media especially. This gives me more time to go out or read books!

I think that each one of those points is very important for your overall health. If you are already doing those points with ease, I am very happy for you! Keep it up and if you like, share your experience with us!

1. Are you staying home from work/school?

Yes, this week my semster started & all courses take place online via zoom, etc.

2. If you’re staying home, who’s there with you?

My boyfriend & my dog. Really happy that we decided to move together in february.

3. Do you have pets to keep you company?

Yes, my doggy. She’s the cutest little nugget!!!

4. Who do you miss the most?

My sister and my nieces. One of them is just 8 weeks old & I’m so sad that I can’t watch her growing..

5. When was the last time you left your home?

Just a few minutes ago to get some groceries.

6. What was the last thing you bought?

Groceries... Others than that I just bought new running shoes & hope they arrive soon.

7. Is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed?

Well.. I feel like I procastinate way more. So propably too relaxed. Also had some mental issues in the beginning of this whole situation.

8. Are you a homebody?

I’m definitely more of an intovert so I do enjoy staying at home but I do miss nature. My boyfriend & I were supposed to be in France climbing the past two weeks & we’re really sad that we couldn’t go.

9. What movies have you watched recently?

Rising High on Netflix. But it wasn’t that good..

10. An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled?

A festival in the summer called Deichbrand.

11. What’s the worst thing that you’ve had to cancel?

The climbing vacation in France..

Nothing really..

Gardening, baking & slacklining

Nothing, just went grocery shopping.

My top 5 books I read in 2019; #5 and honourable mentions

In this series, I would like to present you the five books I enjoyed most in 2019. Let's start with some honourable mentions: Bas Kast - The diet compass, a nice summary of scientific findings on nutrition and diets, well written and a must-read for anyone interested in healthy food. Jairo Aníbal Niño - Orfeo y la cosmonauta, an anthology of short stories with motives from classic lore and modern popculture. Raymond Chandler - The long sleep, a classic of the detective novel genre; the first novel centered on Chandler's protagonist Philip Marlowe. Marcia Bjornerud - Timefulness, a book giving a geologist's perspective on deep time and how to interpret the timescales of the global warming we are facing.

#5 of my favourite books I read in 2019 is Jordan Peterson's "12 rules for life." In this much-commented bestseller, psychology professor Jordan B. Peterson takes on one of the major problems of young and old today: The lack of responsibility for our own decisions and how to get life in order  in times of chaos lurking everywhere. Rules like "Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient)" or "Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't" are lain out with lots of everyday examples from Dr. Peterson's personal and professional life and put into a general framewor, peppered with humour and valuable information. Although Jordan Peterson is controversial due to his opinion on some topics and his TV debates, I recommend to read this book in order to get a better understanding of our society on a personal base or to learn from the multitude of stories told throughout the book. My biggest critique of the book is that some topics loom bigger than others (e.g. education and social justice) so that a few parts are substantially shorter than others. Besides, the framework of the book sometimes promotes only a limited view on personal topics, but this drawback is understandable since a more thorough treatment would require a treatise several hundred pages longer.

Ich weiß. Ernährungsratgeber sollten niemanden interessieren, sagt mein Kopf. Sie sollten allesamt in einer Tonne…
