Diary of a (smitten) Mariachi
I've been having all types of thoughts about Mariachi James Potter, like you cannot honestly tell me that he would not thrive in it. I think his grandfather would have been a famous Mariachi and he just taught James how to sing and how to play the guitar.
When he was in Uni, he didnt want to depend solely in his parents money so he decided to put his grandpa's lessons in good use and start a small business out of it with a couple of friends and cousins that lived in the same city. They got pretty famous, especially when his cousin Mary decided to do a YouTube channel and a Tiktok account for the band.
And look, in the 3 years he has been doing this, he has come across some weird and scandalous shit. Until now his favorite was when a dude hired them to serenade his wife (apparently they had a fight) but when the woman didn't appear in her balcony the guy was so mad he asked them to come with him to go and serenade his mistress instead.
Yeah, fun times. At least that girl did love it.
Today, they had a morning job for a birthday. The guy who hired him (Barty, if he remembers correctly) gave him a rundown of what he wanted to happen, and James knew almost instantly this was one of those prank serenades. He hoped this Regulus guy didn't beat the shit out of anyone for waking him up with guitars and trumpets.
When they arrived to the house address, he could see they guy that he must assume is Barty waiting for them outside with a mischievous grin on his face.
"I gather that you're James Potter no?" The guy asked
"Pleasure to meet you" James said, shaking his hand "are you Barty?"
"The one and only" Barty confirmed. He quickly explained that his friend Regulus would be waking up in half an hour, so they had to be quick going upstairs (the house was fucking gigantic). When they were outside the door, all of them started to prepare their instruments and do a last check up on their clothes (Mary fixed James hat bc apparently it got crooked). He could see Barty taking out his phone, most probably to start recording everything, and then they went inside the room.
From the first notes of the trumpets and the violins, James could see clearly how the boy that was before sleeping so peacefully jump up so high he almost rolled out of the bed. But when he raised his head to see them, James breath hitched in astonishment.
That had to be the most prettiest boy he has ever seen.
Even bleary-eyed, with a dry trail of drool on his chin, and sheet marks in his cheeks, James could only think that he would really like to sing every love song ever invented to him, isn't that crazy?
"Estas son las mañanitas que cantaba el Rey David..." (This are the mornings that the King David sang about) James started as normally, he has sang Las Mañanitas a thousand times, the Vicente Fernandez version being one of the most popular, but James just didn't want to sing that one, it was to impersonal, so he just decided to throw the protocol out of the window and sing the version he really wanted.
"A los muchachos bonitos, se las cantamos aquí" (To the pretty boys, we sing it to them here)
"Si el Sereno de la esquina me quisiera hacer favor, de apagar su linternita mientras que pasa mi Amor" (If the watchman in the corner would be so kind, of turning off his little lamp while my Love passes by) He could feel the gazes of all the band members piercing through his skull, and for a moment James thought that maybe he shouldn't have sang the more romantic version of Las Mañanitas with a band full if family members and friends who could understand Spanish, he was fucked for the next family reunion, but Regulus face when he saw him sing made it worth it.
Remnants of sleep still filled his eyes, and when the song started he was in the middle of cursing Bartys whole bloodline out, but when he locked eyes with him, James could perfectly see how Regulus entire face turned into a beautiful shade of cherry red. He just sat in his bed with his gaze fixed on James while he sang about birds singing and the Moon hiding out, giving way to the beautiful morning that resided in his eyes.
"Si no estas enamorado, enamoráte de mi" (if you're not in love, fall in love with me) he sang with a small smile in his face, and he delighted himself by how Regulus face went even more red.
He sang the rest of the song effortlessly, and when he finished, James and all of band did a small bow in Regulus direction.
"Happy Birthday Mr. Regulus" James said with a soft smile on his face.
"Eh- ehm thank you" Regulus responded, sounding awfully flustered.
"Well that was no fun, you didn't even make that much of a fuss" Barty whined on the other side of the room "I bring you your favorite Mariachi as a present and you couldn't even give me more drama?, please Reg" James could exactly pinpoint the moment Barty realized he fucked up, did Regulus already knew James?
"BARTY!" Regulus hissed out, throwing a pillow that landed directly in Bartys face.
"You are a fan of ours?" James asked surprised, Regulus type was not exactly their normal audience
"You could say that..." Regulus mumbled
"He has watched all of the videos where you are and-" another pillow was thrown to Bartys face, the beautiful color red coming backbto Regulus cheeks.
"Well I am honored" James chuckled softly, before deciding that he might as well be bold, even if it was deeply unprofessional "Its not all days I find out such a beautiful boy is a fan of what I do"
The compliment got him exactly what he wanted, which was a small gasp and more of that beautiful blushing, oh he was down bad. Regulus opened his mouth to say something, but Mary used that moment to (rudely) interrupt them
"I am deeply sorry to interrupt, but today we have another job in the other side of the city, so we should get going" Mary interjected softly, looking a mixture of amused and regretful (as she should be, why is he interrupting hid attempts to woo the love of his life???) "Happy Birthday again Mr. Regulus"
All the band echoed the congratulations, before softly taking the instruments and leaving the room. James almost wished Barty had payed for more than one song. Mournfully, he gave Regulus one last glance before tipping down his hat and saying "Happy Birthday, Amapolita dorada" before leaving the room.
While going down the stairs, he was being teased by Mary and the others about how obvious his little crush was and how annoyed they where that he changed the song version at the last minute (they were not really, but they do sure liked to whine).
It was not until he was going out the door that he heard frantical footsteps going down the stairs, and James just stood there at the door, hope filling his heart when he saw Regulus disheveled form looking at him.
"Listen, I probably am reading the situation wrong but-" Regulus said breathlessly "If you like, wanted to go out or something..."
James never accepted something so fast in his life "absolutely, I want to see you again"
He could hear Regulus breath hitch, breathing out a soft "Oh, well" before pressing a piece of paper in James chest "it's my number, text me ok?"
"Oh I will" James smile was blinding, he got the interest and the number of one of the most handsome guys he has ever seen, and he was not wasting this golden opportunity so easily. In an act of chivalry (and maybe stupidity) he softly took Regulus hand and slowly took it to his lips, leaving a soft kiss in the dorsum of his hand "Until we meet again, Regulus"
"Until then, James" Regulus sounded breathless, and James smirked in delight at the knowledge that Regulus did know him before the performance.
Since then, everyone could see that James Potter sang love songs with a bit more sweetness to it, as if really really knew what he was singing about. With the beautiful muse that he had, how could he not?
#jegulus#james potter#james x regulus#regulus black#marauders#starchaser#mariachi James#I have so many thoughts about this AU I just scrathed the surface of my brainrot#Regulus loved to watch James YT videos and the Tiktoks too#Barty knew about it and bullied him constantly#hence his bday present James#Regulus ripped Barty to shreds over him hiring his crush and make him sing to him while he was in PJs#this was longer than i expected#microfics#yeah Mary and James are cousins#yall the version James sings here is the Pedro Infante version of Las Mañanitas#but commonly the version people sing is from Vincente Fernandez#pls google both versions so you can really see the differences and why James sang the one he sang

just thinking...
1.Bellatrix Lestrange knew about Tom being half-blood. 2.Bellatrix Lestrange was the highest ranking DE, Wormtail was a joke to LV and Barty Jr would be the second one if he was alive. Lucius was constantly bullied by Tom. Snape wasn't the highest ranking. 3. Snape was a double spy, Snape was very useful, no one is denying his importance, but Tom didn't trust him 100% (that's why he sent Wormtail to Spinner's end) 4.Tom punished Bellatrix but never too much and rarely physically. 5. Bellatrix was the only one who probably knew about the horcruxes (she was ceratain that Voldemort wasn't dead after 10/31/1981. And she knew how important the cup was, that's why she freaked out at Malfoy Manor) 6.Bellamort was present throughout the books = Bellamort had been canon before TCC was released. 7.Delphini's existence makes complete sense.

my unpopular marauders opinions
(i'm scared 😟)
'nothing is ooc bc we know nothing about the characters!' might work with the girl characters and the lesser known ones but it does not fly when we are talking about the marauders and other characters like barty, regulus, etc. we have so much (biased) information on these characters and you can't erase all they were in the original text bc you want to make an oc in the marauders era.
sirius is literally one of the most interesting characters in the fandom and i hate how he's been dumbed down to regulus' brother or remus' boyfriend depending on who's pov we're reading. what happened to cool sirius and why has he become a loser who follows remus around like a lapdog??? what happened to casanova sirius who all the girls were into but he never paid them any attention??? what happened to the sirius who risked his life and ran away bc he refused to become like his parents??? and why has been reduced to a whimpering mess who cries bc remus is mean to him (ooc on remus' part too). you're lying to yourselves if you think sirius wouldn't start throwing hands the moment remus insulted him. i need to write an entire separate post for this bc it makes me viscerally angry when i see him portrayed like this. who decided that giving remus all of sirius' main character traits was a good idea??
similarly, remus has become so boring. he has literally become the toxic love interest in a werewolf story please STOP IT. i'm tired of remus constantly yelling and calling other people (specifically sirius) worthless or hitting their deepest insecurities but it's all justified bc it's the full moon and he's angry and emotional. it's overdone, it's toxic, it's boring and i don't want to see it. my remus will forever be a an old sweater-wearing, bookworm people pleaser who wanted nothing more than to have friends who loved him despite who he was and he treasured them so dearly when he found them. he carried extra pens and quills in his bag because he knew peter always forgot his, he always came to james' games to cheer him on despite not being interested in quidditch. idk what you people find appealing about remus thinking sirius is a nuisance or annoying when they're dating but it's not <3 he spent years staring at sirius' back during class and being satisfied to just be in his presence because he didn't think he deserved any of it. how could he wish for more when sirius was wrapping an arm around him and whispering the plan to their newest prank? you want me to think the shy boy who looked away anytime sirius made eye contact with him was a smooth talker who found sirius annoying?? at this point he's an oc with remus' face be fr
sirius >>> regulus any day. cry about it
speaking of regulus i hate how the fandom has characterized him. you've created sirius 2.0 with his storyline (while simultaneously slandering sirius' character) and then made him an emo version of remus' already awful characterization. he's not an uwu victim who begged his brother to come with him, he was a blood supremacist who was probably overjoyed that the stain on his family tree was gone. 'i hate you but i love you' describes the black brothers perfectly but that 'but' doesn't undo the hatred they feel for each other. sibling relationship are so complex, especially in a family like theirs, and their relationship would've been turbulent. by the time sirius had ran away i fully believe the hate they felt for each other was bigger than any love they had left. regulus who is a manipulative asshole, regulus who is actively trying to get rid of sirius so he can get to be the heir he thinks he deserves to be will always be more interesting than the way regulus is written in most jegulus fics.
also james would've literally bullied regulus. it's the truth
also, let james be an asshole! let james be a bully! he was a teenager for fucks sake let him be mean and cruel! give him an ego the size of the sun and nothing else to 'make it better'. he was an only child raised in a pureblood family, i would be more surprised if he didn't turn out to be a narcissistic teenager. he was talented and spoiled and wanted everyone to agree with him bc he had never been brought down to earth from his high horse. let him be messy. i don't understand why the fandom has such a problem with complex characters
this fandom hates on severus too much while babygirl-ifying characters who have done the same or worse than him. was he an asshole? yes. was he also a really interesting character that people choose to ignore or push aside bc he's not conventionally attractive? yes. you've idolized barty and evan and regulus, characters who are also canonically death eaters and have done unforgivable things, yet you continue to hate on severus because?? i don't like him either but commenting 'stan bambi' on every single severus edit is a bit too much effort for a character you claim to not give a shit about :/
remus would NOT be friends with barty, evan and regulus. he's a loser and those three would bully him to death
'i wish people would make more marauders era girls content-' 💥💥💥make it yourself. there is PLENTLY of girls content all you need to do is look in the tags (but oh wait you can't look in the tags bc no one in this fandom has apparently heard of fandom etiquette and they're all tagging every ship under the sun on a post about jegulus. trust me, if i wanted to see jegulus content i would go in their tag. now stop tagging it with dorlene and marylily)
idk if this one is that unpopular cause i've seen it around quite a bit recently but the lupins are literally one of the best families and they are so underrated. the relationships between hope and remus and lyall and remus and the effects that remus' lycanthropy has on them is always on my mind fr. you don't need to give every character mommy/daddy issues to make them interesting or complex ❤️
the prank is SO overdone. like every post prank fic is the same shit and i'm tired. sirius felt no remorse, remus called it an unfunny prank, get over it. it can be interesting to explore (especially sirius' thoughts during it and how remus deals with the consequences of one of his best friends betraying him) but so many times the prank has just been used to justify writing remus being so so incredibly shitty to sirius and poking at his every insecurity that at this point i don't even want to read about it anymore. remus had every right to be mad but once again you're ignoring the canon characterization just to make him seem like a badass when he would absolutely not confront sirius about it.
'[girl character] is just the female version of [male character]' literally makes me want to bite someone's head off. how is it that you have time to create whole new personalities for james, sirius, remus and every other male character under the sun but lily, mary, dorcas or marlene don't get that treatment?? slapping sirius' old characterization on marlene or remus' old characterization on lily doesn't make for compelling characters but none of you care enough to actually flesh these women out and make them something more. it's no wonder people complain about them being boring when the main fanon is just slapping on a guy's personality onto them but make it misogynistic. if you can give regulus an entire backstory and justify his every action then you can give the girls some interesting character traits in your works be fr.
rudy solos grant chapman 🫶🏻

Headcanons/opinions on Barty Crouch jr?
On Barty? I have a few, actually.
He's gay. Not only is he gay, he's also gay for Voldemort. If you read his last lines of dialogue in GoF he almost sounds like Bellatrix at times.
LV knew, obviously. I don't know what he might have personally thought of it, but he definitely allowed it as it fuelled Barty's rage and fanatical obsession.
He is the walking, talking, breathing definition of daddy issues.
He himself did not know what he wanted out of his relationship with Voldemort: it was something in between approval from an absentee father and sexual gratification.
Might have had some kind of flirt with either Regulus or Rabastan (who was older than him though), but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a relationship.
He was unhinged and so self-destructive that he would throw himself in front of danger. He made for a brilliant soldier, a war machine, but it was also horribly reckless. Even the Lestranges were baffled.
Speaking of. He didn't know whether he loved or hated Bellatrix. He wanted to be her in more ways than one: more adult, more powerful, not scared of anything, the Dark Lord's favourite...
When I think about him, something that Helena Bonham Carter said about Bella in an interview comes to mind: "I think she's a bully, and like all bullies, she's secretly scared of everything". I don't think this quote fits Bella's character very much (at all), but it's perfect for Barty.
Hence, his reaction during the trial.
He was a sadist and became elated in situations like the Longbottoms' but all his arrogance melted away when he was alone.
Bellatrix was his mentor. He joined the Death Eaters around the same time that Regulus and Snape did. Therefore, they probably trained all together. I like the idea of Vold never pairing Bella with Reg for fear that she wouldn't go too hard on her little cousin, and instead assigning Barty to Bella.
They are the definition of frenemies: they bicker constantly, but have each other's back in a spectacular way during a mission. The only one who comes even close, as Bella's partner for assignments, is Rodolphus.
Both look down upon many of their fellow DEs (and aren't liked back) and are some of the only people that can actually stand the other.
Attention whores, the both of them.
Rodolphus actually thought that Barty had a thing for Bellatrix, seeing how close they had become in such a short amount of time.
If Barty HAD to make an exception, it would probably be Bella, but when Rodolphus confronted him he basically said "you do know I'm with your brother, right" (Rodolphus did not, in fact, know).
He was actually incredibly good at imitating voices and he was involved in Polyjuice potion-related incidents before Mad-Eye (note to self: possible fanfic idea).
Low self-esteem and yet extremely vain.

Top Ten Annoying Children in Choices
There are many children encountered throughout the Choices universe, some more palatable than others. Though they’re all arguably some degree of annoying, this list ranks the top ten of the most annoying children. At least, in my opinion, anyway. So sit back, relax, and read as a 21 year-old grad school student with real life responsibilities tears fictional children to shreds.
10. The Heir.
The Heir is unique in that she’s the only directly customizable child on this list with six different sprites you can choose for her regardless of your own appearance. Throughout TRH and TRF, I can truthfully say I didn’t find anything endearing about her. Like, at all. It certainly didn’t help that PB wrote her like they write animals. But her personality did get slightly better as she aged as the books went on. The same cannot be said about her appearance, however. In fact, I’d say her appearance got worse as the books went on. The Heir as a baby looks perfectly fine. The Heir as a toddler looks like she’d infect me with COVID-19 by spitting a half-chewed chicken nugget into my coffee. And The Heir as a four year-old looks like she’d beat me unconscious with a cane and call me “whippersnapper”.
9. Daughter (MOTY).
Our daughter in MOTY is actually the only child on this list with a genuinely good design. She looks genuinely cute, and that is high praise from someone who doesn’t think kids are cute. I was also sympathetic to her plight as she didn’t fit in well at school and found herself perpetually bullied. However, PB wrote her in such an obnoxious way that I just couldn’t help but be annoyed by her. She’s a gifted and incredibly smart child, but PB could’ve written her so, so much better. To me, she just came across as a slightly less obnoxious Brainy Smurf because of how badly her dialogue and writing were done.
8. Taari.
Taari was a Nothing Character, plain and simple. He didn’t add anything to Endless Summer, and he didn’t appear much at all, which is why he’s not very high on the list. But my god. This kid had practically no sense of self-preservation and Seraxa constantly had to bail his ass out of danger and scold him for getting himself into it in the first place. Kinda like another kid who’s much, much higher on the list, but more on that later.
7. Camellia.
Camellia didn’t appear much at all, but when she did, GOD was she annoying. She mostly appeared in RoE where she and Jiro were constant obstacles during Jess’s job as a tour guide, though she was much less of a brat than Jiro was.
6. Bartie.
You knew going into this list that Bartie would appear here. You knew. Let me summarize it. Annoying family, hideous design as a baby, whiny as fuck, named after Barthelemy. Though interestingly enough, I’d say he and Bianca are the least detestable of the Walker family, which really says a lot.
5. Lula Jacobs.
Kids have no place in horror stories unless they’re integral to the plot, as is the case with ILITW and THoBM. Lula serves absolutely no purpose in Bloodbound and isn’t even remotely endearing. In addition to her character adding nothing of substance to the story, our character is forced to care for her just because. Also? She’s fucking creepy, man.
4. Jiro.
We’re reaching the really annoying ones now. Jiro, like Camellia, mainly appears in RoE as an obstacle during Jess’s job as a tour guide. Unlike Camellia, though, he is almost always the one who causes trouble. He whines, he tries to throw spitballs, he splashes Camellia on the boat ride, and is generally a nuisance during any of his appearances.
3. Augustus Blackwood.
Augustus “August” Blackwood is Vanessa Blackwood’s insufferable, classist little shit of a son. He bullies the main character’s daughter and doesn’t have a pleasant bone in his body. As someone who was bullied myself, I wanted nothing more than for Luz Mendez to punt this little asshole into the sun. He would have been number #1 on this list if he’d appeared more and had a bigger role because I know my annoyance would’ve gone up if he had.
2. Isaac & Lyra Achilles.
Yes. These are two kids. However, due to them being twins, ALWAYS appearing together, and having the exact same personalities, I’m ranking them as one entity. Anyway, these kids are spoiled rotten, uncouth, uncontrollable, arrogant, and remorseless. They are ungrateful little leeches and I was so happy to get rid of them. I cannot stand spoiled children. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them.
1. May.
But Binglebonkus, why is May your number one over these spoiled, entitled little brats? Well, hypothetical person, I’m so glad you asked. While May’s personality is at least pleasant, she has ZERO self-preservation and the most insane plot armor out of anyone in Choices when there’s no reason for her to even have any in the first place. She regularly gets herself into grave danger, forcing others to risk their lives to help her. Feather lost his status as an Elder saving her life, so you’d think she’d be at least a little more careful, right?
Apparently not. We have to save her several times throughout the book and even spend a sizable chunk of one chapter during a battle trying to chase after her and get her to safety. But that’s not even the end of it. Remember how I said children have no place in horror stories unless they’re integral to the plot? May adds nothing to the story like Lula Jacobs, and also like Lula, our character is forced to care for her WAAAAAY more than they really should. The only things that endear her to the player are that she’s super young and presumably orphaned.
With all that being said, PB constantly pushes May-centric diamond scenes on us. Gather plants with May. Buy May this plushie. Tell May a story. Build flower beds with May. PB seems to have wanted May to be like Clementine from The Walking Dead and have us care for her and want to protect her, so they tried to achieve that by pushing diamond scenes with her.
Unlike Clementine, though, May is an incredible liability. Yes, she apparently knows about plants and gardening, but she constantly endangers herself and others, making her unquestionably more of a liability than an asset.
To recap: while her personality is pleasant, I loathe May because she adds nothing to the story whilst being an unrealistic character in that she constantly endangers herself and others while somehow surviving every encounter no matter how severe (like being the only person the Queen didn’t eat, which I call bullshit on) and receives nothing more than a metaphorical slap on the wrist from anyone who has to haul her ass out of trouble. And of course, everyone still unquestionably adores her even after she nearly gets them killed trying to save her for the umpteenth time.
Basically, May is a veritable waste of manpower and resources and could have been a good character, but she was a garbage one instead.

An Unexpected Order PART 12 - Sirius Black!sister reader
Masterlist
"Should we go for a walk?" Sirius suggests, breaking the silence in the kitchen.
"You aren't allowed out, Sirius." Remus gently reminds him, and Sirius scoffs and changes into a dog. I roll my eyes at my older brother.
"And how exactly are we planning on disguising Regulus?" Remus further pushes Sirius, who wagged his tail to signal that he didn't know.
"Don't worry, I have it handled." Regulus grinned before closing his eyes and turning into a raven. He flew over and perched himself on my shoulder. I glanced at Remus and we both stood to go and fetch our shoes and cloaks so we could leave the house.
"You know, we should summon a lead for Sirius so he doesn't go wandering, I know what he's like." Remus joked as we laced up our boots. I smile.
"We should, you know, let me do it now." I pull my wand out and summon a collar and lead, where they came from is a mystery, I probably shouldn't have summoned them as they could have come from anywhere.
I managed to tackle Sirius down and attach them, with the help of Remus who had to hold down the scraggy dog. Remus took hold of the end of the lead and we left the house. I closed the door behind us and we made our way down the pavement.
We walked in silence for the first five minutes, neither Remus nor I knew what to say to each other. After a while I brought up school, knowing it could trigger a good few conversation topics.
"Have you got any stories from school that I've never heard?" I glance sideways at my boyfriend who had a tight grip on Sirius' lead still.
"One time when we were in our fifth year, James, Sirius and I decided it was a great idea to sneak into Hogsmeade at night. We found a passage that took us to the cellar for the Hogs Head, we then found our way into Honeydukes and we stole some chocolate frogs, liquorice wands, and sugar quills before we made our way back to the castle for the evening. James had an invisibility cloak which made our adventure slightly easier as we were less likely to get caught by someone." Remus laughs, I giggle and Sirius lets out an odd barking sound.
"You sneaky bastards." I shake my head.
"What about you? What stories have you got from school?" Remus turns to look at me, smiling.
"Sadly, none of my stories are quite as interesting as anything you or Sirius did in school. I was quite boring. I think the most interesting thing I ever did was using the ducklifors jinx on Barty Crouch Jr because he was bullying me for being a blood traitor and was calling me some nasty things so I jinxed him." I smile.
"That was you? You mean to tell me that you're the one that turned Barty Crouch Jr into a duck? After all this time, we've all spent years trying to figure out who did it. James thought it was some random Gryffindor in the year below us, but it was you?" Remus babbled at me, I grin and blush at his shock.
"Yep, it was me. He really pissed me off and the ducklifors jinx was the first one that came to my mind and so I used it on him. I did lose a few house points and get detention for it, but it was worth it. The entirety of his friend group was really shocked, he then avoided me for the rest of the year out of fear that I'd do it again." I grin.
"I can't believe that. I remember the news of it circulating around the students, but none of us ever caught a name. All we knew was from Dolohov screaming about a 'blood-traitor' having done it, so we had no idea as to who it may have been."
"Of course it was Dolohov." I scoff, that man pissed me off constantly, being engaged to him was the worst thing ever, those couple of years knowing that I'd soon marry him was agonizing, I hated him.
"Sorry, I forgot how much you hated that dick." Remus put a hand on my shoulder.
"Have I ever said anything about him?" I ask, Remus shakes his head.
"Well"
*Flashback*
"Y/N, get downstairs now, the family we're engaging you with is here. For Merlin's sake, flatten out your hair, and your dress looks a mess." Mother waved her wand at me, flattening out all the problems with my appearance.
I followed her downstairs to the drawing room, Regulus and our father were already inside with the family. My parents constantly kept reminding me about how lucky I was that someone was willing to marry me considering I'd not been sorted into Slytherin as everyone else had.
"Stand upright, you must carry yourself properly. Have all these years of being taught how to be a lady not influenced the way you present yourself?" Mum snapped, I stood up straighter and walked into the room.
Antonin Dolohov and his family turned to face me, I felt the blood drain from my face. Surely I can't be engaged to Dolohov? Dolohov was a nasty lad, always picking on younger kids in other houses or even the younger people in his friend group, I'd seen him pick on Regulus and Barty Crouch Jr a fair few times.
"Mr Dolohov is willing to take your hand in marriage, he and his family are aware of the fact that you're a house traitor and seem to be quite, how do we put it, empathetic with muggle and mudbloods."
"I'm willing to take you and help you adapt to being a pureblood wife. You will see why blood status is extremely important." Antonin takes a step towards me, I go to open my mouth but my mother shoots a glare at me, I have no place to speak as of current.
"Y/N is willing to accept your offer of marriage." My father grins at Antonin. I glance over at Regulus who briefly gives me a look of sympathy before returning to a stony glare.
I felt trapped, there was nothing I could do to get out of this engagement.
"You two shall marry the winter after you finish Hogwarts, I think the winter wedding would suit you both well." Mrs Dolohov glances between her son and I.
That evening, Antonin and I were sent to a little cottage near Dorset to "get to know each other better". "Imperio." Antonin smirked, I fell into a trance-like state. Hours and hours later, I came back to my senses, I remember absolutely nothing from the period of time that I was under the curse for. Although, there were more cuts along my arms so I assumed that Antonin had used some other curse on me while I was under the Imperius.
I woke up, Antonin smirked at me from his standing position above me.
"Welcome back."
"What have you done?" I screech, only to be met with the cruciatus curse being thrown at me, I let out a howl as the curse continues.
"Your parents were correct, you are weak. Weak and a traitor. You're useless."
*Flashback over*
Remus glanced at me, anger washed over his eyes, Sirius growled and Regulus let out a strangled squark.
"Y/N, I-I'm so sorry. I can't believe that they treated you like that. It's so disgustingly wrong, the curses, the forced marriage, the everything. I'm so sorry." Remus puts a hand on my shoulder.
I shrug. "It's part of the Black family experience. You follow the rules or you end up like Sirius and I."
We walk back home in complete silence. As soon as we had closed the front door, my brothers both transformed back and pulled me into a hug.
"Y/N, I shouldn't have left you here when I left, I'm so sorry." Sirius says.
"Someone had to stay, you know that." I whisper.
"I'm still sorry. Our family really suck. I can't believe they forced you into this, and Dolohov, Dolohov is just a disgusting piece of shit. If I ever get my hands on him, then that's that. He's a dead man." Sirius says angrly.
"I'm sorry that I didn't step up to protect you, I was there on the night of your engagement, I should have stood up and done something." Regulus whispers.
"They'd have tortured you." I whisper.
"And? I always ran, unlike you and Sirius. I was never brave enough to face the consequences of my actions, or face our parents. I should have intervened and helped you, you've always been there to protect me."
We stood in silence for what seemed like forever, all three men had their arms around me.
"I was wondering when you four would arrive home." A voice says from the doorway. "I hope you don't mind that I dropped in, your house elf let me in Miss Black."
"I need to teach Kreacher to not let that old crackpot in my house." I hiss under my breath, Regulus overhears and holds back a laugh.
Sirius, Remus, Regulus, and I all make our way into the dining room, following Dumbledore and sitting down. After a few moments of silence, I decided to break it, I wanted to know why the fuck Dumbledore thought it was a good idea to show up out of nowhere, especially as I'd made it extremely clear how I felt about him.
"So, Dumbledore, why are you here this time?" I raise an eyebrow, Sirius shoots me a glare and Remus grabs my hand under the table, giving it a squeeze as a sort of signal that he too wanted me to not open my mouth unless necessary, given the last time I dealt with the tosser.
"Firstly, I wish to express my distaste that you all went out for a walk, when Kreacher informed me I wasn't best pleased as Mr Black and Mr Black both know that they're not supposed to be outside, whether in animagus form or not. It's too dangerous and not worth the risk, especially as the more deranged, shall we say, members of your family are out searching for Mr Potter. I'm disappointed in all of you, Mr Lupin and Miss Black should have known better than to have agreed to take you both out." Dumbledore shakes his head disapprovingly at us all.
I went to say something in retaliation but Regulus beat me to it, apologising to Dumbledore and promising it won't happen again.
"Secondly, I think I may have a way of helping both Mr Blacks in relation to clearing names. I have connections within the Ministry and am planning on using such connections in order to clear your criminal record Sirius, and clear up your supposed death." He turns to Regulus.
"Dumbledore, forgive me for butting in, but surely, it shouldn't be safe to clear them yet? Considering there's a war looming and our family are out for all of us. Sirius is a big target due to his betrayal by having been sorted into Gryffindor as well as people being suspicious as there is n concrete evidence to prove that Sirius didn't betray the Potters even though we all know he didn't. Even Regulus wouldn't be safe, he pretend to die so he didn't have to work for You Know Who, he'd be seen as a traitor to the dark cause and become a big target. Hell, even I'm a big target because of my connection to the Blacks and I was disowned. I bet Dolohov would come for me if he saw me. I'm not willing for both of my brothers to be in any more danger than necessary. Sirius is known to the Death Eaters to be close to Harry, I wouldn't trust them to not do something to him in order to get to Harry. So, I'd rather you didn't clear the until after the war, Professor. I don't know what either of my brothers think, but it isn't safe."
I look at both of my brothers, in hope that one of them will back me up, I felt Remus squeeze my hand again and I turned to look at him, he smiled slightly then dropped my hand.
"I stand by Y/N on this, sorry Dumbledore. She is right, as much as I'd love my criminal record erased, it isn't safe. All three of us are extremely high on the to-kill list for many of the Death Eaters, I'd say, Dolohov, the Lestranges and the Malfoys would be very happy to get their hands on any of us and kill us. If Regulus and I get to walk free, anything could happen, but being confined here until we are needed is probably the safest option. I don't want to be used by the Death Eaters as a set piece in capturing Harry, it's not fair on anyone and Harry is exactly like James, if he finds out that I could be in danger, you know he'd come straight to try and help me, he wouldn't even think through a plan. He's too much like James." Sirius gives a sad smile.
"I'm going to have to agree with my siblings here, Dumbledore. It's not a good option as of current, it's not doable in the slightest. I thank you for the offer, but no."
"I understand your concerns, but this truly is a good option, it'd help me out significantly-" Dumbledore starts.
"Oh, so you're only doing this to make you look good? Like everything else that you do? Piss off Dumbledore or else I'll shove that fucking ego of yours up your arse." I stand up, knocking my chair back in anger, completely disgusted with the man.
"Miss Black-"
"No, I want you out of my house now, you're nothing but an interfering egotistical arsehole. I want you gone now." I snap, Remus carefully stands my chair back up and rises to stand behind me, his arms around my waist preventing me from moving towards Dumbledore.
"Albus, I think it may be best if you leave." Remus said quietly, his grip around my waist tightened.
Dumbledore bowed his head before exiting the room, the kitchen fell silent. The only noise that could be heard was Kreacher scurrying to let Dumbledore out of the house, and the door closing behind the old wizard.
No one said anything for ages, we all stood frozen. Sirius and Regulus were stood at one end of the kitchen with murderous looks on their faces and then Remus remained behind me, although his grip on me loosened ever so slightly.
"I can't believe the audacity that man has." I whisper loud enough for everyone else to make out. Regulus finally breaks his statue-like stance and walks around the table, gently taking me away from Remus. Regulus pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you, Y/N. I would never have stood up to Dumbledore like that-" Regulus starts.
"You would never stand up for yourself anyway, you never did. You always let yourself be pushed down and trodden on by your friends in school. Me or Y/N always stood up for you at home when we were younger. You're too much of a coward to ever stand up for yourself, Regulus." Sirius barked in annoyance.
"Sirius, please, not now." Remus sighs in frustration.
"You may have stood up for me, but you never stood up for yourself against Mum and Dad, you always let them hurt you. You only managed to confidently tell them no and leave because James Potter had all the confidence in the world in rescuing you, but even then, you left Y/N and I to the lions." Regulus rolled his eyes, moving back across the kitchen to our older brother.
"Y/N, why don't you go upstairs while I sort your brothers out? You've had enough stress for one day." Remus presses a kiss to the side of my mouth before crossing the room.
I flee quickly, hearing shouts of anger between my two brothers as I make my way up the stairs, no matter how far away I was, I could hear them clearly, every single word.
Eventually, the house fell silent, the only noise was the patter of feet coming up the stairs and making their way across the landing, stopping right outside of my door.
A timid knock sounded on my door followed by an "It's Remus.
I stood up and opened my door, throwing myself into the werewolf's arms straight away, he pulled me as close as he could to him, kissing the top of my head.
"I don't think they're going to murder each other now." He giggles slightly.
"Thank you, Remus. Honestly, they're a right handful sometimes. They were like this growing up, it got ridiculous sometimes. I'm sure you witnessed some of their arguments in school, they were notorious for hexing and jinxing each other." I look up and peck him on the lips.
"Ah yes, I remember the one time Regulus told Sirius to leave him and Crouch alone, Sirius retaliated by using the jelly-legs jinx on him." Remus smirked.
----
"Guys! Kreacher's made dinner!" Regulus called upstairs to us all. Remus and I made our way towards the staircase to be met with Sirius sliding down the bannister. I glance at my boyfriend, both of us seemed to look at each other in despair.
"I could have sworn that he's thirty-seven." I sigh, beginning to walk down the stairs.
"It's Sirius, Y/N. Have you forgotten that he never seems to mature?"
"Good point."
--------
"Guys! Guys!" Regulus ran into the room.
"Kreacher found a book on magical family trees. Um, I flipped through it and basically, Y/N and Sirius can't be restored onto it unless the person who disowned them forgives them, which id pretty impossible as Mum is dead."
"Fucksake." I roll my eyes, and Sirius snorts.
"Ah well, fuck them. We're still family regardless of what the fancy wallpaper says. Don't worry Y/N, you'll always be my sister, you're just that lucky,"
"You are so full of yourself Sirius."
"You would be too if you looked like me, shame I got all the good genes." Sirius flicked his hair to one side.
"Ever the arrogant drama queen Pads. But I reckon Y/N got the best genes out of everyone." Remus grins, pressing a kiss on the side of my face.
"Don't worry Regulus, you're the hottest Black." Regulus jokingly patted himself on the back.
"And you all say I'm the arrogant one."
"I fucking hate you two." I groan into Remus' shoulder in despair. Both of my brothers have always been extremely dramatic, and even at thirty-seven and thirty-five, they were both ridiculously overdramatic. Living with the both of them was always a struggle, especially when their dramaticness concerned their house differences. Now was no different, they were always trying to be more dramatic than the other, and everything has become a competition with them.
"Nope, you love us a lot. Obviously you love me more as I am the superior brother, but you love us really." Sirius slung his arm around my shoulders.
"Nope, she loves me the most. I am definitely the best brother, she could never love you more than me."
"Merlin, I'm glad I got estranged from this family, I technically don't have to acknowledge either of you as my brothers."
"Personally, I think all three of you are overdramatic and I hate all three of you." Remus speaks up.
"Mooooony, my love, my life, my ray of sunshine, my everything, my flame, my world, my toadstool. You could never hate me, you love my sexy ass too much." Sirius presses a kiss to Remus' cheek, Remus wipes it away with the edge of his cloak in mock disgust.
"He quite evidently thinks I'm sexier." Regulus throws himself onto the poor mans knee. Remus looked extremely flsutered and awkward at this point, I felt bad for him but it was so funny.
"I think he thinks I'm the sexiest and the best Black." I grab Remus' face and pull him into a kiss, he kisses me back, his hands going to either side of my cheeks.
"That I do Miss Black. That I do."
A/N: Hey! Sorry it's been so long since I last updated! It's been a hectic summer as I got my A-level results and had to start preparing for University! I'm moving in next week and am so scared but excited.

So a lot of people want to give the Marauders a free pass for all the shit they pulled because they claim, ‘so-so deserved it’ which is victim blaming rhetoric that is not acceptable at all. Or they claim ‘they grew up’ which isn’t necessarily proven and does not excuse their actions at all.
James died at 21. He was a wizard cop. People try to claim that because he didn’t like Voldy and was a cop, he’s obviously a good guy. Well Barty Crouch Sr. was also a cop and hated Voldy and he was not a good guy. Being a cop doesn’t automatically make you a good person. This should be obvious by now.
Peter was a back-stabbing fiend and a coward who didn’t in any way change. He was constantly looking out for himself only and means nothing.
Sirius was immature, and that did not change much in those couple years after graduating. And then spent 12 years in isolation being borderline starved, unclean, and with no doubt poor sleeping habits, on top of the Dementors that he barely managed to avoid the attention of. Sirius is still stuck in a teenage mentality since most 20-somethings don’t feel like adults for quite some time after high school.
Remus is the only person to show actual growth and it’s mostly because of the trauma of his situation and the shitty lot he’d been dealt in life. So he had to mature or else.
So no, the Marauders as a whole didn’t ‘grow up’ or ‘mature’. Half of them didn’t get to and 1/4 of them chose not to.
So since the fandom loves to hold Severus’ actions as an adult against his 15 year old self, and claim that is why he deserved to be harassed and sexually assaulted, I refuse to accept people criticizing me for holding the Marauders accountable for their shit. I am holding teenagers accountable for the shit things they did as teenagers. Unlike some individuals who would blame a 15 year old character for something his 38 year old self does way into the future.
Sirius and James are my main issue. Remus and Peter are bullies by association for not stopping the other two and are just as to blame. And Remus was made a prefect to keep control over his friends, and he didn’t do his job, and he admits to it. And his reasoning that he thought they’d abandon him doesn’t make James and Sirius look good. Especially if we take into account how they treated Peter in SWM.
Sirius’ immaturity can only go so far as an excuse. At 15 I was very aware of myself and the world around me. I wasn’t in the best of situations either. I was not the brightest but I wasn’t stupid. Teenagers are not stupid. But this fandom likes to act as if teens are dumb and unaware of anything going on so that’s okay to excuse them. They do it with the Marauders and Draco Malfoy who are very much alike. They’re given passes with ‘just being boys’ and there are claims of ‘it’s unfair to hold their actions against them, they’re just teens’. But if we talk about Tom Riddle’s actions as a teen, Severus Snape’s actions as a teen, or hell, even Harry Potter using a spell he didn’t actually know the effects of, people will riot about how terrible those things are and how they were all very much aware of what they were doing and people are ashamed of those actions by those teens in particular!.
Double standards for the Marauders always. Why?
It’s not that hard to hold a character you like accountable for their shit. I do it all the time. I tend to like the antagonists, villains, and rude characters. And I will also trash them as much as I praise them. I can admit that Voldemort is problematic as fuck and there is no way around it. I can admit that Hannibal Lecter is creepy and one hell of a villain. I can list their negatives as much as their positives.
But Marauders fans can’t be bothered.
And the truth is, Sirius sent someone he hates after a creature that could kill him. Only half of this situation is immaturity since he obvioulsy didn’t consider how Remus would feel knowing he’d been used in such a way. Sirius was in no way too stupid to realize how dangerous the situation was.
And you may wonder why I would think that? How could he possibly know?
Remus admitted in PoA that there were many times in their teens, where they had some close calls while out gallivanting at night. And Remus felt guilty for betraying Dumbledore’s trust and not just staying in the Shack. He admits to the fact that his friends couldn’t keep control of him even when they were in their Animagus forms. Hermione gives him a few stern words for it. So how would Sirius not know that a transformed Remus would go ballistic without his friends there to control him?
This is why we call it a murder attempt and not ‘just a prank’.
And on James’ side. James is jealous of Severus for being friends with the girl he’s lusting after. To the point where he targets him constantly for it and even tried to blackmail her into a date by holding Severus’ well-being over her head.
So James saved Severus just in the nick of time. But he wasn’t doing it to be a hero and save a classmate like his fans seem to think. What would have happened if Remus either killed or bit/scratched Severus?
Severus would either be dead or turned.
And what would happen to Remus if he killed or turned another student, especially when Dumbledore was allowing him to attend the school and no one of importance knew he was a werewolf? What would happen to Remus and Dumbledore both?
Remus would either be killed immediately or imprisoned for life in Azkaban. And Dumbledore, the Light side’s only hope against Voldemort;s growing terrorism, would suffer some shit by the Ministry and his own following who are pretty prejudiced against ‘Dark Creatures’. Which is why Severus was forced to remain silent about the situation when it was brought to Dumbledore. Because everyone cared more about how it would affect everything else, and no one gave a shit about the boy who just nearly died.
And no, James didn’t suddenly become a good guy and a shining knight in white armor. Because Sirius and Remus admit to him still bullying Severus exclusively while Lily remained completely unaware of it. She dated him because he claimed he changed. But he didn’t and his friends confirmed it. And if his own son is disgusted with his actions, but you aren’t, then there is something wrong with you.
So yes, I will openly criticize a bunch of teenagers for the shit they did as teenagers. Because they did horrible shit as teenagers. If we hold Tom Riddle accountable for his actions with the Chamber, and Severus Snape accountable for his ‘mudblood’ slur, we can do the same with the Marauders.

Snape > Ron !?
((OOC Becci: Posted it before but I couldn’t put a read more so... here it’s again.))
Topic: Killing of Ron to let Fred live. People said they'd rather see Ron dead. [German discussion translated for @captofthesswolfstar] Me: The way some people write here is really strange sometime. But since it's about Ron, it's no problem. It's "just" Ron. He has such a bad image here (in Germany)
S: Sad, since he has always been a loyal friend.
M: Loyal? What about part 4? Okay, one might Say now he had his 5 minutes but he had them quite often. Each life weights the same. But if it's about a fictional character people will always chose one character over another. It's human. If instead of a Weasley Tonks would have died people would care even less. In my opinion nobody had to die but Ron could have disappeared. Severus dead hit me hard. If Ron would have went missing I would have been happy.
L: Yes, M. Since part 4 I'm constantly annoyed by his jealousy.
S: M, I'm mother of a dead child and still I wouldn't wish someone else to die for my child to live. Snape's dead hurt me, sure. Ron made ONE bigger mistake in part 4. As a teenager. But he did so well for Harry and Hermione.
Me: I find this quite interesting. Ron did one mistake (that wasn't even "bad", plus he was in puberty and it was relatable) and gets so much hate. Snape did maybe one thing right (while he did so much wrong like bullying students, being a death eater and therefore killing people) and gets so much glorification. Something is REALLY wrong.
S: RIGHT!?
M: It's not jst that one time. It's from 4-7.2 and he constantly turns from one side to another. That's not just one mistake. Snape did "just" one thing right? I remember he tried to save Harry in every part and he was only "mean" to play with the Dark Lord. Other than that he also is Dumbledore's man and does many good things. Having a look at 4-7.2 I wouldn't have been surprised if he would have become a death eater in the end. That is why I dislike him.
Me: Ron doesn't "turn". He's very much his character and self-explainatory. He's very "in character" and a loyal and a self-sacrificing Friend. He would put down anything anytime for Harry, would risk his own life for him. In fact he did! Snape protected him and? He bullied the students, made their lives hell. He never learned from his behavior, was always like that. How much "good" he did remains a secret. We can't read about it. It's only assumptions.
For Ron it's so much. His lovely, caring nature, his loyalty, his humour, his insecurities that make him so human. I find it horrible when people reduce him on part 4 or the Horcrux-thing. That happens all the time. But it's also the movies' fault. The books are so complex and show much more of him. In the movies they changed some lines and even gave them to Hermione. So he looks like an idiot.
M: I wasn't happy about part 5 and 6 neither. Even in part 3 he was very weird to me. In part 1 he was very loyal and a good friend but he wouldn't become my friend there with his stubbornness. Part 2... well I think if Aragog would have caught Harry he would have run away. Part 3 he also had no trust in his friends. In part 4 he left Harry in the lurch and was against him. Part 5 he was neutral and nobody I liked. Part 6 jealousy because Harry got the book. Part 7: Horcrux as you sad. I'm no friend of Ron.
Snape was rough but he supported harry in every part the best he could without raising attention to himself. 1: Quidditch, 2: the snake and the bones, 3: Sirius/Wormtail, 4: Tournament, 5: Occlumency, 6: Book and friend and let him go, 7: his own sacrifice. That's the reason Harry's son carries HIS name and not Ron's.
MS: Snape tortured students over years! He also didn't support Harry in every part just because of caring but because he knew Harry had to live to kill off Voldemort. "Rough" is very understated. I mean... Neville who's parents were tortured by Bellatrix to madness says Snape is his biggest fear... you really need to think about that. And 3 and Sirius/Wormtail? He wanted Sirius to be handed over to the dementors without reason and told the whole school Remus was a werewolf though he knew what would happen. In part 5 he also tortured Harry with thoughts and memories and the lessons were also only because of Dumbledore. Snape has good sides but he was an asshole.
Me: First Snape. 1 - wow. Good job. While he made his and other students' lifes hell. 2 - ??? 3 - Sirius and Wormtail? What did Snape do to help? He tried to bring a innocent person into prison and let Peter run off. Great. And the talk about werewolves is also not the best choice. 4 - what exactly did he do? 5 - Because he had to. Dumbledore's order. 6 - He didn't give it to him. It happened by accident 7 - A sacrifice I'm not sure if he wanted to make it. I still can't understand how Harry named one son after loved people and the other after a manipulator who had used him and a teacher who caused his mother's death and tortured students over years (himself included). Why didn't he name his son after Ron? I guess it's like Remus. Whom he wanted to "give" to Teddy so he could name his child after him one day. About Ron [here I put a translation of this by @rondefencesquad]
M: Really. Someone can see everything negative. Snape killed off the snake and wanted Harry to go to the hospital wing instead of losing bones. Part 3 he wanted to save Harry from Sirius who he though would kill him. And Snape knew about the truth much later. And the werewolf-thing was revenge because of Lupin and the others.
4 - He supported Harry! 5 - he needed to do that so Harry could learn. What else should he have done?! 6 - Might be but he also didn't take it from him. 7 - He wanted. Because of Dumbledore. And to give Harry more time. He also gave Harry the sword in the lake. Severus' name is Harry's son's just like it was written in Cursed Child. Because he was a kind-hearted human and wizard.
Ron - He bought the train empty and had much more than Ron. Also Hermione was already down there and saved Ron. 2 - point of view 3 - your opinion is not mine 4 - doesn't explain his behaviour 5 - you're just showing me how selfish he is 6 - you can't make him positive for me. 7 - someone can see you're a massive Ron fan I like everyone except Ron. Maybe because he's just a clown and I dislike that. Ron did some good things but not enough and I dislike his jokes. I like Snape more.
Me: Snape did a great job telling Harry to go to the hospital wing. Like... every decent human being would have done that. Still - point to Snape Snape KNEW Sirius was innocent and he wanted to bring him to the dementors because of hatred. Out of spite. Remus didn't do anything actually. Nothing we would know of, at least. 4 - pov. 5 - Exactly. Instead of learning with him like a teacher he tortured him. EVERY teacher would have done that. And look how great it turned out, how successful! 6 - Which reasoning? He couldn't get the book [though he tried] 7 - You know he wanted to die because...? He didn't say so, did he?
Ron - 1 - you're confusing something. 2 - his kind-heartedness is a matter of opinion? THat shocks me. But after Snape... nothing surprises me... still... WOW. 3 - Where are you not my opinion? THose are FACTS. They are written in the book EXACTLY LIKE THAT. You can't be another opinon. 4 - because a 14-year old was jealous for a moment you have to hold it against him even after years? Right! 5 - Selfish? Were? Please. Explain this to me. I don't get it at all how support can be something selfish. 6 - I don't want to make him look good. I want to tell you how he really was. 7 - It's facts. And I'm not a Ron fan. I like him not more or less than other characters. But I hate reducing characters on one thing.
Exactly like you do it with Snape. How he tried to kill off Trevor, how he tortured students, because he never had a good heart but was very selfish, ignorant and full of hatred.
Ron wasn't a clown and I get the feeling you only know movie-Ron. He's so NOT Ron in the movies. Book-Ron and movie-Ron hardly have any similarities.
M: When you watc Harry Potter or read it you get the feeling he's a hero. When I read it or watch it I think Hermione is the hero not Harry or Ron. I question everything people do and I thought a lot about Snape and really, you only see the "bad" snape.
Umbridge, Barty Crouch Jr as Mad Eye and some others were really evil but having a closer look on Snape one can see what a good human he was and he even sacrificed himself also for Draco.
Ron on the contraty how he's described he's selfish and some other things. How Ron really was knows nobody. We only know what was shown. I only want you to see how Snape really was. Not like many people think. He wasn't always nice but someone have to look closer.
Me: "How Ron really was knows nobody. We only know what was shown." Same for Snape then. And we saw a lot more of Ron. Also I see not a hero in the trio. One wouldn't be anything without the others. All of them or nobody at all. So don't put words in my mouth.
M: Well, by reading what you wrote about Ron one might expect that. You don't see mch of Snape so it's easy to make him good or evil and for me it shows he wasn't that bad because of Dumbledore and because of Harry's son. In my eyes Ron was an arse.
With Snape I question much but Dumbledore trusted him and he did so many good things for Harry though he didn't need to. Why shouldn't that count when it counts for Ron?
Me: You can't measure with Dumbledore. Manipulative. Can't stand him. Snape is ignorant, bullies kids, tortures them, terrorises them, wants to kill their pets, always has been a death eater with heart and soul until it was his fault Lily was killed. He only became "good" because of Lily. Otherwise he would have been a death eater until the end. Ron was good through and through. He made mistakes, yes. But he would never have felt entitled because of blood purity and would have killed because of that. Ron > Snape. And that is although I like Snape more as a character. I find him very fascinating and interesting. That is why I dislike him so much as well.
M: THat's the problem. Ron isn't good for me. Snape did a lot of things but he suffered from it and he knew that Voldemort still lived so he had to play his part. It sounds like you would find some excuses for Ron killing people but not for Snape. Snape suffered and he made atonement for his doings. You musn't forget that.
Me: I would never ever find excuses for a murderer. That's absurd. How superficial you are...
[That's basically it. People tried to interfere to quiet everything down. So... it stopped. Anyway. I'm still shocked by this. I mean... what the hell?! the German fandom scares me so much sometimes...]

They'll always try to make the Marauders the victim, and Severus will always be the person to first bother them like "Bullying Remus because he has Dyslexia." or "Bullying Regulus because he's gay." None of which was canon.
If they think bullying children is normal, then I'm concerned for them. "Someone had to do it." Yeah but if it was Regulus or Barty they'd kill the bully.
I agree—Those people who defend people who are CLEARLY evil are just as bad as them honestly, people fail to acknowledge that their favourites did rather too-horrible stuff.
Yes, Severus targeted and bullied children, Severus threatened Neville's toad, and was Neville's boggart, but what else are they asking him to do?
He saved the Wizarding World, risked his life everyday without anyone knowing he was a spy when he even lived, only Bellatrix suspected.
Their favourites bullied children—even worse actually. (Severus was not the only victim) and then died in a war, so what? James and Sirius died not regretting a bit of their actions to Severus.
They didn't change.
If James knew that one of his classmates were werewolves and Severus was about to get eaten alive, he would not have done anything, but it involved Sirius and Remus.
James didn't change.
Sirius died still calling Severus "Snivellus" and was immature (He stayed in Azkaban for a decade though) he didn't change.
Sirius didn't change.
Remus spread lies about Severus to defend James and Sirius' actions to Severus, constantly made up stories and lied about Severus and so did Sirius.
Remus didn't change, it didn't matter if he felt guilty, he didn't do anything.
And Peter? No comment.
When Mstans say their favourites changed, I have no idea what they are saying, because they certainly did not change.
And I have no problem with them liking the Marauders, but when they victimize them, it's like saying Harry bullied Severus, not the other way around.
Would Mstans still like the Marauders if we never met Snape? If he was killed as a student just for simply existing? If James didn’t stop Sirius from luring Snape to Remus? Or would they hate them? Hate them for torturing a little boy who was abused and neglected by his father. Hate them for bullying him just because he existed and was close to a girl James liked. Because he was “weird” because he was “different”? Practically forcing him into a cult to feel wanted… If we only saw Snape as a student before he died like the Mstans want, would they like the Marauders after that?

In Defense of Albus Dumbledore.
Albus Dumbledore kept crucial secrets, was often manipulative, and made some really REALLY shitty mistakes but at least he always fucking tried to do what was right and FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED that he was sometimes a piece of garbage. Like. He is literally told in prophecy that a CHILD will be forced to bear the burden of destroying a great evil. The fuck was he supposed to do? Tell an 11-year-old he's probably going to die to save the entire world and start treating him like a child soldier? Or try and let that 11-year-old have a normal fucking schooling experience with friends and fun and learning and growing and as little knowledge of his potentially unavoidable destruction as possible? - Dumbledore was gifted. He was a true genius growing up and it made him arrogant. As a young man he had dangerous ideas. He truly believed he was working towards the greater good. Not like Grindelwald. He willfully ignored the signs of Grindelwald's corruption because well, he was in love. He was in deep denial because the good was SO good. He lost to temptation. And he fucked up. I mean. About as bad as you can. Because of it, he truly saw that he was flawed as he never had before. And he tried to be better. He did not want to be tempted with power and he constantly turned it down. Denying the position of MoM several times. He was scared and he was occasionally selfish but he TRIED. He taught. He helped young wizards to learn and grow. He did what he could for the school, for the students, for his fellow professors. But he still had trouble truly facing his greatest mistake. He was afraid to face Grindelwald even as Grindelwald was raising an army. He was cowardly and waited far too long. But he did go. And he defeated Grindelwald. And he had what he had wanted for so long. A deathly Hallow. And he continued to resist. He continued to teach. To train young wizards. To fight injustice. To BE BETTER. When a new dark wizard began to rise he did not want to make the same mistakes. He created the Order of the Phoenix to fight back. He did great things. He cared. He fought for what was right, for what was just, for everyone. He was a good man. But the war was difficult. There were many deaths and many losses. Voldemort did a great deal of horrible things. And it seemed as if he could not be stopped. And then. Dumbledore heard a prophecy. A horrible prophecy, but also one of hope. Someone that could have the power to stop Voldemort. To end the madness and destruction. And soon a Death Eater laid himself at Dumbledore's feet begging for his help. He was despicable and showed that he did not care for the child or for anyone besides the women he thought he loved. But he seemed to be willing to help if she was protected and obviously Dumbledore was going to protect an innocent family, let alone a member of the Order. He gave the man a second chance. He let him defect. He let him assist in the fight. But the woman was killed and Dumbledore saw the first proof that the prophecy was to come true. Voldemort had marked this child to be his equal. Dumbledore knew that Voldemort would return. He knew the prophecy. He knew that this child was tied to him. And he knew he needed to be protected. But he once again fucked up. He placed the child where he was guaranteed to be safe from Voldemort and his followers but did not entertain the thought that other horrors might exist for him here. He royally fucked up when he did not make sure that the Dursley's were not fucking abusing this poor child because guess what? They were. Dumbledore doesn't get a pass for this and neither does Mrs. Figg. Yes, Harry needed to stay with Petunia to keep his mother's charm alive, but not checking in a few times? Was unacceptable. Mrs. Figg was supposed to watch out for him and could PROBABLY have put some fucking effort into reporting literal abuse. In this case, no news probably seemed like good news to Dumbledore as Harry was growing up away from his fame. Mrs. Figg is definitely as much to blame, but Dumbledore could have done so much more. And now the death eater that switched sides despairs and wishes that he were dead, but Dumbledore knows that Harry will need protection and he tells this man to shut up and take responsibility. Harry is an orphan because Severus Snape told Voldemort the prophecy. Yes his parents are dead because Peter Pettigrew is a traitorous coward. Yes they are dead because Voldemort is an evil madman. But they are also dead because of Severus Snape. And Snape will never again make the mistake of helping his old master. And Dumbledore sees this. And he knows that if anything, Snape did love Lily Potter and if helping her son is what must be done he will (reluctantly) do so. And he trusts him. Now we get to Hogwarts. This 11-YEAR-OLD is bright and full of wonder. He makes incredible friends and he is completely and unquestionably his parents son. And. He. Is. A. Child. And everything is so real for Dumbledore. Voldemort's followers are still around. The Sorcerer's Stone is being targeted. The signs all point to Voldemort returning. Soon. But what can you say to a child? When you barely have the answers yourself. And then the child faces Voldemort. Already. At 11. And he stands his ground and he acts true and brave. And Dumbledore is so impressed and so worried about his future. And he doesn't know what to do. And he tells Harry that Voldemort can still return but he tells him nothing else. Because he can not bear to burden this child more. The next year Harry learns that he can talk to snakes and begins to see similarities between himself and Voldemort. And Dumbledore does too. He tries to be there for the boy. He asks him to talk to him, he believes him when he says he is innocent because of course he is. But the boy does not open up and Dumbledore can do nothing more at the time. Now. Harry faces Voldemort ONCE AGAIN. Only this time just a small piece of his soul and Dumbledore discovers something horrible. Voldemort is in possession of horcruxes. And the carelessness of the diary suggests that Voldemort has many. And then the similarities between Harry and Voldemort have a greater and so much more terrible than could ever be imagined explanation. This revelation shakes Dumbledore. If it is true it means that Voldemort can NEVER die until Harry is killed. It means that if Voldemort should regain himself he will have access to Harry's own mind and soul. It means that Harry has no choice but to be a part of this though Dumbledore has known this since he was given his lightning scar. And Dumbledore can not discuss this with him because the boy is 12. Dumbledore praises Harry, he speaks of his courage and his true Gryffindor nature. He asks again if Harry wishes to talk and he tries to help him. He assures him that though he may be similar he is NOT Voldemort. He says what he can and he desperately avoids placing any more burdens on such a young man. And Harry continues to grow. Dumbledore discovers that he showed compassion to the man that betrayed his parents. Dumbledore witnesses him save an innocent man from an unspeakable fate. And then another year goes by and horrible things begin to stir again. Death Eaters show themselves in public. The Dark mark is produced. Signs of Voldemort's return are everywhere. And Dumbledore is working hard. He searches his memories for clues, he preaches unity to his students, he knows the darkness is near. And then. Dark magic interferes with the tournament. And Harry is bound. Barely a teenager and magically bound to a deadly tournament. Clearly a pawn in someone's game but who? Which one of Voldemort's followers? (Now I'll never truly understand why the tournament could not be cancelled the second it was obvious dark magic was involved but I also don't know the full ramifications of a "binding magical contact." Either way it is made clear that Harry must compete and that Dumbledore could not stop him.) And now Dumbledore must watch this boy that is years younger than the others compete. All the while desperately searching for answers. And then. It is done. Harry witnesses the return of Lord Voldemort. He watches a fellow student be murdered, he is cut open and his blood stolen, he is forced to duel the most powerful dark wizard of the day and STILL he returns alive. Dumbledore's decision to leave him with Petunia affirmed. But suddenly Harry is gone. As Dumbledore tended to the other boy, and directed his staff, someone took Harry away from the grounds. It doesn't take long to see who and Dumbledore races to save Harry realizing who had been working for Voldemort under his nose all year. And together they listen to Barty Crouch Jr's confession. And Voldemort is back. And now Dumbledore feels stuck. He knows that Harry has no choice but to be a part of this, but he also knows that Voldemort has easy access to Harry's mind and soul. Dumbledore revives the Order of the Phoenix and he asks that Harry not be kept informed hoping that Voldemort will not see any use in doing so. He knows that if Voldemort thinks Harry and Dumbledore are close or if Voldemort could get information out of Harry that Voldemort would not hesitate to possess him to use him. And so he distanced himself from this remarkable young man and he keeps him in the dark. But he did not understand the pain this might cause a teenager. He did not see how isolated Harry could feel. As Dumbledore, a grown man, faced slander and hate and more from thousands of strangers he failed to see how much worse it could be for a 15-year-old. And when Voldemort began to enter Harry's mind he only isolated him more. Sending Harry to train and work on closing his mind with a man that consistently bullies and belittles him just because the man was accomplished at the art. A man that QUIT on training him because Harry, a teenager, saw something personal of his he shouldn't have. And once again Harry was on his own. Dumbledore failed Harry. But he was true in his intentions. He did what he believed was best for Harry. For NO reason but to keep Harry safe from Voldemort. But he still failed him. AND HE KNOWS IT. His actions led to Harry going to the ministry. To various students getting seriously injured. To Sirius Black being killed. And ultimately to Harry being fully possessed by Voldemort in an attempt to hurt Dumbledore, just as he had feared. He knows he is responsible. He knows he has been unfair in keeping Harry in the dark, that he has caused him great pain. And he takes responsibility. He FULLY admits that he fucked up royally. When Harry screams at him, he lets him. When Harry destroys his belongings, he lets him. He does not speak until Harry is finished. And he cries as he acknowledges the consequences of his actions. He tells Harry so much that he has kept from him. He tells Harry about his mother's charm and about Voldemort's possession, he tells Harry why he distanced himself and kept things from him all year. He explains his actions but does not try to excuse them. He admits that he was wrong. He does not yet tell him about the horcruxes. At this point he does not know for sure how many or what they might be. He has not told anyone about them and he does not tell Harry yet. But he vows to include him. And he vows to train Harry personally this time if he will let him and share his findings with him. And he means it. He begins the summer finding the first horcrux. A ring. The resurrection stone. And for the first time since he was 17 he believes that it is possible to see his sister again. And blinded to all logic, he puts on the horcrux. He is saved by Snape but it is too late. His fate is sealed and suddenly everything is more straightforward. He knows his death will come and he keeps working. He begins to tutor Harry. He gives him information as soon as he learns it and allows Harry to work out what all the memories mean. He tasks Harry with getting a valuable memory from Slughorn and finally he has an idea of how many horcruxes Tom must have made. He visits possible locations and when he finally finds another horcrux he brings Harry with him. He still keeps secrets. But now, much less from Harry. Because still... how can you tell a 16-year-old that a part of Voldemort's soul is attached to him? That he will have to die before Voldemort can be stopped? It is too much for him to burden Harry with until the last possible moment. Because how could Harry have the strength to carry on? To do what is necessary? He does not want Harry to ever have to dwell on this fact, because the fact is. Harry MUST die. Voldemort must be stopped. And Harry must be willing to let Voldemort kill him. It is not fair. But it is not Dumbledore's fault. Severus Snape is wrong when he claims that Harry had been raised like a pig for slaughter. Dumbledore allowed Harry to grow and learn as an ordinary student as best he could. Dumbledore did not even know that Voldemort had horcruxes initially and did not suspect Harry was one until Harry was already attending Hogwarts. And what was he to do with that knowledge? What would those that claim that Dumbledore is simply a manipulative asshole have done? Dumbledore always looked out for Harry but he could not change the fact that Voldemort would continue to murder and terrorize and destroy until Harry Potter sacrificed himself. But he could never burden a teenager with that knowledge. Not until he had to. And then. Dumbledore is killed. But before he is he leaves Harry the tools he will need to face what he must. He leaves him a way to destroy the remaining horcruxes and he leaves him the resurrection stone so that when Harry must face death he can bring the people he loves. And here Dumbledore is afraid. He does not tell Harry directly about the Hallows because Harry is only 17. The same age Dumbledore was when he sought them all those years ago. Dumbledore feared that Harry could be tempted as he had. He feared that Harry's hot head might dominate his good heart. After death, when Dumbledore speaks to Harry, he fully acknowledges that Harry is more worthy than he. That he used the Hallows selflessly and so he became their true master. Dumbledore asks Harry to forgive him for not trusting him. For believing he might make the same mistakes. He tells him that he knows Harry is a better man than he. Tears form in his eyes as he apologizes and explains himself. Harry was angry with him for his secrets and he had every right to be. And Dumbledore fully acknowledged and apologized for it. Dumbledore kept so many secrets from everyone. Dumbledore could be manipulative and tried to plan complex plans without including others. These are large flaws. And they are flaws that he on more than one occasion acknowledges and attempts to fix. Dumbledore was a good man that was burdened with knowing a horrible prophecy. He always fought for what was right and just. And he always fought to be better. But he made so many mistakes. His mistakes deserve to be acknowledged but so do his attributes. He was complex and real. And he was good. And it is ok that Harry named his second son after him. In thanks and in forgiveness. - (I was going to compare him at length to Snape because people will defend Snape to the end of the Earth while calling Dumbledore selfish and manipulative. Severus Snape never once takes responsibility for his atrocities. He always believes himself to be the victim. He shows no remorse in school for using racial slurs or dark magic. He hangs out with racists and plans on joining a hate group bent on destroying everyone of his supposed true loves birth. He joins the hate group after graduating and murders, spies for, and loyally serves a racist lunatic for years. He never gives a second thought to the families that are torn apart, the people that are murdered, the lives that are ruined. Until someone HE likes is affected. And still he first asks his literally evil boss to spare ONLY LILY and happily offers up her husband and infant son to be murdered. When he is unsure he can trust his LITERALLY EVIL boss not to murder a muggle born woman he finally decides to jump ship and plead to the side fighting the racist murderers to help him. Dumbledore rightly calls him out on his shit and asks him what he is willing to do for her. He agrees to help Dumbledore fight Voldemort. But not because he realizes he was on the wrong side, not because HE cares about stopping Voldemort, not because he wants to spare others from his evil. Only to save one woman he thinks he loves. And when his former EVIL BOSS succeeds in her and her husbands murder he acknowledges no responsibility in literally giving the piece of information that led to this to Voldemort on a silver platter, instead he yells at Dumbledore. And when Dumbledore tells him that Lily's son survived he acts annoyed and dismissive. He cares nothing for Lily's own son until Dumbledore tells him it is the only way to prove he truly loved her. Then he reluctantly agrees to help protect him. 10 YEARS go by and there is no change. Snape is bitter and he is cruel. On Harry's first day he mocks him and embarrasses him, the child he has sworn to protect. And I don't want to hear any of your "he had to act like he didn't like him for the death eaters" bullshit. Because there is a huge difference between cold and distant which Snape could have been and cruel and malicious which Snape was. He bullied children placed in his care. He threatened and attempted to murder a young child's beloved pet and then punished the boy when the pet survived. He openly mocked a young girl for answering his questions IN CLASS. He insulted a 14-year-old girl to her face until she ran away, tears streaming down her face. He verbally abused children and in one case even physically assaulted Harry. He was a 13-year-olds greatest fear even though the same 13-year-olds own parents had been tortured into insanity by death eaters. He was a cruel asshole. And the fact that he was always making sure Harry wasn't murdered does NOT change anything about his abuse and his atrocities as a professor. When Voldemort returned he had a more difficult job. He DID work for the Order. He DID help them as best he could. But he was still an asshole and he was still cruel. He still mocked Harry. And in private lessons (no kids of death eaters watching here...) he still treated Harry like garbage. Harry was a 15-year-old that was being slandered in the national news. He was receiving hate from strangers and classmates alike and he had a dark wizard using his mind and soul, and still Snape did nothing but yell at him and belittle him when he had difficulty with a new skill. After weeks of Snape invading Harry's private thoughts and memories, he flys off the fucking handle when Harry, A TEENAGER, finds something he shouldn't. Snape physically assaults him, screams at him, and quits the task Dumbledore entrusted him with. Leaving Harry defenseless to the evil madman Snape swore to protect him from. And still he takes no responsibility. In his memories we always see Snape bitching about Harry, seeing only what he wants to see in him. And in the present we always see Snape mocking and bullying children or teenagers. Snape does not have it easy in the end. A double agent is not easy to be (though being one of the world's greatest legilimens would certainly help.) He faces hardship and through it all he remains loyal to Dumbledore. He did a truly heroic thing. But he did it for all the wrong reasons. And he never cared about Harry or anyone but Lily. In his final moments he is approached by Harry. The boy he swore to protect, now a man. But he doesn't see Harry, only Lily's eyes. He demands Harry look at him and then he is gone. Snape is a tragedy. His heroic deeds near the end of his life must be acknowledged but so should his atrocities throughout his life. As a death eater, as a professor, and as a human being. I do not believe that he deserves to be the namesake of Harry's child. Then again, Harry wanted to show both thanks and forgiveness as he had for Albus. In forgiving the horrible unforgivable things Snape did to Harry, he was able to forgive himself for those he could not save. But Snape and Dumbledore are very different. Snape does not show remorse for his actions or mistakes and he never acknowledges them. He lives his entire life as a bully, first as a Death Eater and then by being intentionally cruel and abusive to children. While Dumbledore might cause harm, it has never once been intentional. Snape fought against Voldemort reluctantly after years of service to him, while Dumbledore sought to stop his destruction and terrorism from the very beginning. I can go on but this post was supposed to just be a defense of Dumbledore and I got carried away at the end here. Sorry.) That's all I guess.

BIOGRAPHY
When you’re born with your feet planted firmly on the ground, the idea of being swept away is nearly impossible- or at least it seemed that way to Greta. Practical, kind, patient as a child, there was never anything that Greta felt could go wrong- until she found out that she was magical, and the entire process proceeded to turn her world upside down. Her parents, hesitant though supported, looked how Greta felt- like she was losing her entire world.
The only saving grace to her life was her best friend, Hestia: the calm in the rotating storm that seemed determined to strip Greta of anything that made sense to her. Throughout the transition of Home to Hogwarts, which took Greta longer than she wanted to admit, she leaned on Hestia, only to lose her when it mattered more than anything.
She didn’t know much about the housing system when she was sorted, so the only think she was concerned about was the fact that the girl holding her hand as they walked into the great hall was no longer by her side. But she looked to her house traits, knowing (and hoping) that she had been placed there for a reason and that that reason would come to her soon enough.
Unfortunately it didn’t. Instead of understanding Greta was met with confusion, instead of compassion she was met with cruelty. These caused her to build a wall around herself- Her blue robes insisted to others that she had a brain, and Greta would be damned if people didn’t think she was using it. So what if she wasn’t the best at producing a patronus, or transfiguring a rat into a goblet- (when is that ever a relevant skill?) she could read circles around her classmates, debate endlessly and come out victorious. It irritated her to no end that people judged skill in this world on one or two criteria, when the worth of a person is much more than how quickly they can throw up a shield.
Greta is…. impatient… and tired. Like, really tired. She’s tired of not being able to push her two worlds together, and she’s sick of the fact that no one can be bothered to help her.
CONNECTIONS
hestia jones; the broken friendship. you never forget the first best friend that you had - it’s human nature to carry those memories and that person with you in your heart, no matter where you go. they’re a part of you, no matter how long the friendship might have been. in greta’s case, the last thing she wants to do is remember. if anything, she’d want to remove hestia from her memories, eliminate the girl from her mind forever. the two of them had grown up near one another in central london - their parents had been acquaintances for years, and in doing so, the girls were constantly around one another. it was a friendship that was of happenstance, but in greta’s mind, hestia sometimes felt like the sister she never got the chance to have. she’d grown up without any siblings, and now having hestia around gave her the chance to always have a companion. she adored hestia with all of her being, the calmness to hestia’s strength. the two girls got to experience things like their first trip to diagon alley together, and their first train ride to hogwarts together - which was new experiences for both their families, as they’d never encountered the wizarding world before. however, once the sorting hat was placed on their heads and they began the actual experiences in the school, it was as if something had changed. it was already difficult that the two of them weren’t able to be around each other as much as they had normally been. for greta, it was a slower change than she was ready for - meeting friends and trying new things when all she wanted was to be back with hestia. they attempted to keep things the same, but it didn’t take long for greta to see the changes. she could see the people that hestia was now keeping as friends - and more importantly, she could see the way things had changed in her friend’s personality. hestia had always been a dominant personality to deal with, but this had turned into intimidation, which developed into bullying. there was no grand fall out between the two of them, no dramatic fight or anything. greta just slowly pulled away from the other girl, to the point where they’ve stopped speaking. it’s something that’s hardened greta, leaving her feeling like she’s missing something from her life,
amycus carrow; the thorn in the side. greta had never expected her life to turn out like this. she’d read of witches and wizards and fantastical beasts before in her books, but the idea that they could actually exist was something entirely different. which was why when she did find out that there was magic flowing from her fingertips, it was as if her world turned upside down - but not in the good way. in her books, those witches and wizards were seen differently than everyone else. most of the time they were evil, leaving the hero of the book frightened until they gathered the courage to defeat them. and all this time, greta had been identifying with the hero in the book - when she really should’ve been seeing herself as just another villain. her parents were frightened of her, she could see it. once the reality of everything finally sunk it, the way they looked at her changing slowly and constantly until there was a distance between them that couldn’t be mended. when greta entered school, it was a difficult transition, her hands shaking whenever she would even try to pick up her wand, which was something that her classmates took notice of as well. she was hesitant when it came to casting spells or trying to learn anything that didn’t have to do with muggles. it left them confused for the most part originally - because it was almost unheard of to see a wizard who was afraid of their own magic. the confusion slowly developed into resentment and antagonism, the rumors following her around wherever she went that she thought she was too good for the school. she’s not sure who’s started the rumors, the ones that seem to leave everyone looking at her with a jaded expression - but if she had to give a guess, she’d put it on amycus carrow. the two of them never got off on the right foot, as their personalities were something akin to oil and water. she was serious, where he was anything other than that, and it set them off at each other’s throats. it seems logical that amycus would probably be the one who’s spread the lies about her - if for nothing else than a reaction. she can’t stand him for the most part, but there’s something about him that’s just entirely magnetic, to the point where she almost enjoys bickering with him - perhaps if just for his presence.
pandora selwyn; the replacement friend. once greta realized that it was time to say good bye to the friendship that she used to hold with hestia, she knew that she couldn’t simply sit around and wait for something new to happen or for friends to flock to her. and as much as she might have enjoyed her independence and her own company, she wasn’t going to spend the next seven years of her life lonely - or looking like a fool in front of hestia whenever she and her new brigade of friends walked through the hallway. she was rusty at this part, as she’d had hestia by her side for all these years and had never needed to venture out from her strong embrace. but this was like taking a step again for the first time - it was tentative and new and it took her a while to get adjusted to it. but slowly she tried to get acclimated to being social and cheerful and friendly once again, which was how she managed to find pandora. pandora was easygoing and didn’t seem to take problems with anyone, which was good for greta. it was easier to befriend her than she had originally imagined, the two of them managing to fall into the habits and conversations that any friends would have with one another. it wasn’t the same as what greta had been looking for, but then again, nothing and no one would be able to come close to hestia in her mind. and that’s perhaps the worst part of it all. sometimes greta feels guilty about this, looking at pandora and wishing that she saw hestia there in return. it’s not as if she’s trying to replace hestia with pandora, but that seems like she’s managed to do it without even trying. and still - the replacement hasn’t worked, as greta’s mind is still on hestia. she knows it’s unfair to pandora for her to be using her and relying on her just because she needs someone and wants to have someone to depend on - but greta just needs a little bit longer to figure things out. then maybe she’ll let go of pandora.
barty crouch jr; the notch on the bedpost. everyone within the hogwarts building knows of the reputation that precedes barty. people whisper it in the halls, and it doesn’t even bother them - leaving them grinning at just the thought or mention of it. it was something that they wore like a badge of honor - and almost every person that seemed to surround greta were more and more impressed by barty. greta was staunch in the belief that barty was nothing more than waste of time, rolling her eyes whenever their name came up into a conversation. they were vulgar and crude and seemed to have little care for anyone but themselves - so greta couldn’t even understand how people found them attractive in any way. barty noticed this, and noticed the way that greta didn’t seem to react to them in the way that they managed to get everyone falling at their feet. she didn’t care, didn’t pay them any attention - and that intrigued them. barty got under greta’s skin, and it left her annoyed and frustrated. which was how she couldn’t understand how she - just like all those other people before her - somehow managed to end up in their bed one night before summer break began. she couldn’t even blame it on alcohol or a stupid choice, it was something of her own sheer volition, deciding that it seemed like a good idea for her to becoming involved with barty crouch, of all people. since that night, greta has done everything she possibly can to avoid them, in fear of having to come to terms with the dumb mistake that she’s brought upon herself. if she can ignore it, perhaps it will go away. but for now, greta knows that she’ll just look like a hypocrite if the word gets out that the biggest critic of barty crouch was actually just another person who fell for him without a second thought.

Text
Well if you take a character's bad traits and only use those to describe him then of course it's going to be hard to understand why anyone would love him.
"James was a guy who dedicated 6 years of his life to tormenting an abused child, attacked anyone who looked at him wrong, tried to blackmail a girl into dating, sexually harassed a fellow student, and lied to his girlfriend. How can anyone like him?"
Snape is loved because he's a character who did both good and bad things, that's what makes him the most complex and interesting character that Rowling wrote.
At 20 years old, he only cares about saving one life. At 37 years old he regularly risks his life to save as many people as he can.
He's petty and immature at times and can be cruel, but he's also hilariously fun, extremely brave to an unbelievable level and one of the most selfless people in the story.
His lines are some of funniest parts of the books. As a teenager, I loved when he was insulting the students that were the same age as me, and now as an adult more than a decade later I love it still just as much.
He's a spy, he's asked to sacrifice so much in the fight against Voldemort, and he does it.
His whole life has been one of misery. Abused as a child, bullied as a teen, and after that it somehow still manages to get worse. And yes, some or even a lot of that misery is self inflicted because of his own choices, like joining Voldemort, but that only makes him even more interesting. Snape knows just how much he fucked up, and he's going to spend the rest of his life paying for one choice he made when he was 18.
There's so much to be said as to why people love him and find it fascinating, it'd be impossible to list everything here, so I'll just add one extremely important quote that is always overlooked by people who aren't in the Snape fandom:
‘Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?’ ‘Lately, only those whom I could not save,’ said Snape.
(the whole scene is worth quoting to be honest, as it shows how much Snape has changed as a human being and indeed became one of the bravest men Harry ever knew, but it'd be way too long)
Anyway, I'm guessing you're in the Marauders fandom, so it makes sense why you'd find it hard to like Snape or see why others do.
The most popular fanfiction in your fandom, that pretty much created its current state, and is tagged as canon compliant even though it constantly spits on canon, describes Snape as: a wealthy pureblood who bullies orphan Lupin, is transphobic and homophobic, and is the one who always goes to hurt the Marauders.
In large part because of this, because the author decided to erase Snape's whole backstory and create an OC that's basically Draco Malfoy with black hair, the overwhelming majority of fanfictions that followed used this same trope: Make Snape look as bad as possible, so that the times when the Marauders attack him feel good and even justified.
That's why Regulus is loved and Snape isn't, even though they have very similar stories of redemption. Also, one is hot and rich and the other ugly and poor, but that's a whole other subject. Even Bellatrix and Barty Crouch Jr and Mulciber and Evan Rosier, who objectively did a 100 times worse things than Snape ever dreamed of doing, are Marauders fans sweethearts.
In the end, Snape is hated because he represents the one window through which people learned that the Marauders were not just flawed, but bullies, and so people make the victim pay for having the audacity to show, in canon, that his abusers weren't pure good.
ok personally i really dont like Snape but there are so many people out there who seem to, out of shear curiosity what is so great about him? from what i see, he's someone who had something really great (Lily's friendship) ruined it (calling her a mudblood) was pissed that he ruined it, didnt like her choice in husband and took it out on her son. i'd really like to hear y'all's opinions on this cause i just dont get it.
