HOW HAVE I NEVER NOTICED THIS
LAYTON USES TU FOR FUTURE LUKE BUT SWITCHES TO VOUS THE SECOND CLIVE'S IDENTITY IS REVEALED.
Tu and vous both mean you but Tu implies closeness : in the entirety of Unwound Future, Layton only ever uses Tu with Flora, the Lukes and Claire
#I'm shaking crying throwing up#WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME.#He immediately uses tu for Future Luke which is A LOT#In real life we often stumble trying to know which one to use because vous is distance but also respect like for a boss or teacher#(Everyone except Claire uses vous for Layton because he's a highly educated adult and a gentleman)#Layton must really appreciate and trust Luke. He immediately went 'Oh that's a Luke of course he's a close one'#And it makes sense that he would discard the tu when he finds out that nope this is a total stranger manipulating us all#But also normal people would go from tu (affectionate) to tu (derogatory). Of course Layton doesn't as a gentleman but. Ouch#And he never goes back to tu not even after finding out Clive is the orphan he saved#I'm crying why are you doing that to me. It's so subtle I had NEVER noticed but it's there#Maybe the vous will go back to respect or pleasant distance one day but Clive isn't deserving of a tu. He's not Luke. He's a stranger#I HAVE to do a complete pronoun analysis one day. I've talked about it here and there but I need to do a big analysis#Professeur layton et le destin perdu#Professeur layton#hershel layton#clive dove#Been posting a lot of angst lately oops#Professor layton and the unwound Future#Professor layton and the lost future#Unwound Future spoilers#Lost Future spoilers

does not help anxiety when every time you get into a somewhat stable mental state you have to call your mother. and you can’t not talk to her for too long because she throws a hissy fit, which leaves you feeling much worse than before. But you also don’t want to cut her off, especially because as an only child you’re used to being weirdly codependent on her and she wasn’t a bad mother
#I know this is a pretty classic case and it sounds like I’m making excuses for her#But trust me it’s not fucking easy to not#Also right now I’m mostly pissed because it’s affecting my productivity and I have so much to do#Like my entire education depends on this. every other conversation I have with her sends me on a spiral. I don’t have time for this#Look I have problems with my dad too but he’s mostly fine with me calling him once a month#And he’d judge from a distance I can deal with that and doesn’t generally give a shit what you do as long as ur successful and don’t fuck u#Uhh ranting again. I bloody can’t#Worst thing mothers do is not realize you are not and never were a mini-them#And if you aren’t they feel betrayed

I may have girlbossed too close to the sun and made myself look presentable on paper to the point that a disability lawyer won't take my case. Which is funny because, like my girlbossing despite being nonbinary, it seems i've distilled the complexity and nuance of my particular disability into something palatable. And palatable does not get disability.
#i can only fo theatre and not as much as i used to#i can only do so much college#i can't hold a job for more than a couple months#i piss off every manager i've ever met let alone had#my sister even said she would never employ me#my resume is so insane that i'm practically unemployable#which is another reason for getting the degree#i can say “oh look it was my twenties and then i went back to school and i'm different and educated now”#put some distance from the getting fired or quitting due to breakdowns#but noo i'm in school so i must be functioning#vent post#i don't even want to be on disability#i want my right to have money and marriage and kids to stay intact#but i can't crash at my parents' anymore#no more diary entries just venting in the tags

#its really weird you know#like ive kinda distanced myself from a lot of interactions#but when i do talk to people#and just to see how removed they are from politics etc#im not wording this very well but examples are just#me casually tutting when labour are mentioned#to be asked if i dont like them#and im like yeah i hate them. especially kier starmer.#and theyre like nodding along. but then to be diplomatic (this person was english) i say that i do like certain labour mps though like zarah#sultana etc#and the blank look i got. like idk. im probably just very online but this is someone whos educated and has a good job. so i just kinda#assumed theyd be a bit mroe aware of whats going on?#and then another person#i mentioned how theres books for kids about palestines history#i didnt mention anything else#and just... kinda silence. like a head nod and then convo moved on#and again i could just be over analysing but it almost felt like they didnt wanna talk about it because they didnt know/care?#which maybe. but i just kinda feel like at this fucking point. how can you not know.#i dont get how people are just so unaware of whats going on in the world around them. especially when its things that do indirectly affect#them. when it comes to people being incriminately harmed and murdered#like i dont think these people are against palestine or big labour fans etc etc either#but its just the blissful ignorance#idk maybe im just jealous tbh. because this shit haunts my every waking moment. the thought that theres so many bigoted and ignorant people#around the world scares me. and i never want to be one of them#this is such a jumbled ramble#but alas#le text post

Borrow - Mao Buyi (借 - 毛不易) Translation
Finally figured out how to tackle this song I've been obsessed with for years. Enjoy!
借
Borrow
借一盏午夜街头 昏黄灯光
A streetlamp, casting hazy yellow light at midnight
照亮那坎坷路上人影一双
To illuminate the pair of silhouettes on the uneven pavement
借一寸三九天里 冽冽暖阳
An inch of frozen sunlight from the dead of winter
融这茫茫人间刺骨凉
To melt the frigid cold of this endless world
借一泓古老河水 九曲回肠
A scoop of water from an ancient, twisting river
带着那摇晃烛火 漂往远方
To take that swaying candlelight drifting far away
借一段往日旋律 婉转悠扬
A stanza of an old song, gentle and melodious
把这不能说的轻轻唱
To quietly sing this which cannot be said
被这风吹散的人说他爱得不深
Those blown apart by these winds will say that they never loved deeply
被这雨淋湿的人说他不会冷
Those caught in this rain will say that they will not be cold
无边夜色到底还要蒙住多少人
How many more people will be enveloped by this endless night?
它写进眼里 他不敢承认
It lingers in the mind, yet he dare not admit
借一抹临别黄昏悠悠斜阳
A glimpse the setting sun in the moment of farewell
为这漫漫余生添一道光
To add some light to the rest of this life
借一句刻骨铭心来日方长
A simple 'we have plenty of time' etched into the soul
倘若不得不天各一方
To prepare for the chance of forced separation
被这风吹散的人说他爱得不深
Those blown apart by these winds will say that they never loved deeply
被这雨淋湿的人说他不会冷
Those caught in this rain will say that they will not be cold
无边夜色到底还要蒙住多少人
How many more people will be enveloped by this endless night?
它写进眼里 他不敢承认
It lingers in the mind, yet he dare not admit
可是啊
And yet
总有那风吹不散的认真
There is a sincerity that cannot be blown apart by this wind
总有大雨也不能抹去的泪痕
There are tears that cannot be washed away by this rain
有一天太阳会升起在某个清晨
Some day, on some morning, the sun will rise
一道彩虹 两个人
Under a rainbow, two people will stand
借一方乐土让他容身
An acre of land for him to call home
借他平凡一生
An ordinary life for him to live
#cpop#cpop translations#chinese langblr#mandarin langblr#mao buyi#translations i made#im fully cheating btw bc you're supposed to insert the word borrow before each 'a (noun)'#at least thats how the original lyrics are written#but like... bc chinese just kinda lets you omit the subject of sentences but you cant really do that in english#so this was the only way ive figured out to make the lines work while still maintaining the air of#almost.. detachment? distance? i just really didnt want to insert a pronoun there basically#im just hoping people get the hint from the title pretty much#its pronouns and verb tense thats the two things english has in spades but chinese just *doesnt*#theres just a lot of educated guessing involved in translation i guess but i always feel like im assuming something i shouldnt#this is one of those songs that make me think 'im a translator not a poet but i feel like i should be'#bc this song? this is poetry#considered putting the video of the performance of this song on singer at the top of the post but#tbh i dont really like how they did it there#its too... grand. too large#this is not a Large song#this is a song that's supposed to quietly sit at the back of your brain and Haunt you for ages (a lot of mby songs are like that)#Spotify

how is one meant to stay silly under these conditions
#the education system is failinggg me#there are no actually suitable schools within a decent vicinity that are able to take me#i haven't gone to any school properly since the first two weeks of this year#and i haven't attended a school consistently for 2.5 years#worst part it isn't even my fault!#i mean ok the first 1.5 years when i was enrolled at this catholic co-ed school kinda were#but i couldn't sustainably go anywhere as a girl i mean. oh i dunno maybe i could have tried harder#but this past year is not my fault!! just there is absolutely nowhere that will take me#distance education is also very full and so difficult to get into and it wouldn't even be an ideal option#the 1 (one) co-ed public school with space i can't even go to because the principal admitted it would not be safe#and now next year is. not looking hopeful#the past couple weeks i've been going to the only school where i have a guaranteed spot - local all girls :(#just for a couple hours a day doing fuck all in the library it's been good for my sleep schedule if nothing else#but i really really do not want to go there as one of three trans boys and no fucking way as a girl. hueduhugh#i still haven't heard back from a few of the options for next year hoping beyond hopes at least one of them will take me#one of the two actually good options has rejected me#so hoping the other good option will have space but god it's really unlikely#i'll take anywhere though i just. huhfriuhg i really need to go back to school man i've missed genuinely nearly half of all my high school#it's. yeah it's really not good#no fucking clue what i'll do if none of the schools accept me for next year. explode mayhaps#and this sucks because i actually really like school i was always SO good at school!! but then the social things prevented me from going!!#and now the slight bit of hope is dwindling! i hate this#anyway. :))

what’s your thoughts on homeschool? Or unschool?
(Genuinely I am very intrigued)
hello!
I was homeschooled for exactly one year (year five, ten years old) and I think it was good for me. but as with anything, there are a lot of variables. homeschool can be good if there is a concerted effort to keep the family in safe and healthy communities, and if the kids have access to a variety of information sources
sometimes homeschool is the right decision, and sometimes it isn’t. depends on the kid(s), the parents, the other school options, etc. I probably would’ve died if I’d had to stay in traditional school through that year, because I just was not coping. when I was reintroduced into regular school again, it was with a much better mindset, I think. so I don’t think any child should be forced to stay in a traditional school if it’s really not working for them…. but I do also feel for parents who may not have the time, energy, or resources to homeschool their kid
I think homeschooling has an unnecessarily bad rap though, and that more families should be given the resources they need to do it (either in part or in full)
#asks#that being said I also benefited from being at an unconventional primary school for year six#which was a slower paced way to be reintroduced to school#high school sucked and I wish my parents had been able to homeschool me again in year 8/9#and then distance education in year 10 when I was in hospital#but yeah.#it’s all. situational

what bugs me even more abt my animal literature final being so specific despite having whatever content we want to choose from, is that i do have sources where i could potentially have a case to say something interesting about the distance between humanity and animals, and we HAVE covered that through frank kafka’s work, so in a different class itd be up for grabs, but because we have to focus on a very specific thing instead (what a movie says that is teaching the audience how we should treat animals) i have to throw that out even though its way more interesting to me
#i feel like a dick for not wanting to do an animal rights esque paper but ive already done several is the thing#not in a college level but i did for major projects in high school with the exact same premise#and yeah i can choose something thats not a book specifically written to educate people about animal rights#(which are still good and ive always found them to be heartwrenching)#i can choose something this time thats connected to something i care about. aka pokemon im gonna do pokemon#bc i am CRINGE and i am FREE#but like with pokemon theres a number of things i can talk about because of how its set up#whether it fails to say things or not#and i wanted to do my paper on meowth talking like a human which distances himself from his species#and makes it so that he's often willing to harm his own kind to help the humans make a profit#and he also cant use pay day (aka natural animal instincts) as well#like FUCK man that is interesting to me in the context of what we have read!! abt how we have to respect animals on their level!!#and how forcing human desires on them without wondering if it actually benefits them can be cruel!!#(even if thats not how it happened in the episode but whatever i can stretch it)#but no. that doesnt say enough about how animals should be treated apparently.#and i have to restructure everything and reframe it. and at that point i might just pick a different episode#echoed voice

A cry for help from Gaza
My name is Salem, I am 26 years old. I am married to Hadeel, she is 25 years old, and we have two beautiful children: Laila (5 years old) and Bakr (five months old). We live in the northern part of Gaza.
Laila and Bakr are my heartbeat, the light of my life, and my everything.
The horrific story of the recent war in Gaza
Since the beginning of the last war in Gaza, our home has been completely destroyed, forcing us to be displaced. We had to move more than 10 times to find safety. During this harrowing journey, we faced extreme hunger and malnutrition that almost claimed the lives of me and my children. In addition, we have been exposed to many serious infectious diseases and epidemics.
Before: This is our homeland, our dream, and our promising future.
Unbearable hardships
Every day I have to travel long distances just to get water, and stand in lines for hours to get food. My children's mental health deteriorated due to the war, their education was interrupted, and they suffered from catastrophic hunger that almost claimed their lives.
After: This is our house, built with our sweat and effort, and it was completely destroyed.
The right to a peaceful life
My children deserve to live a peaceful life free of fear and anxiety. I dream of your help to support my family and escape this genocide. Your help means the world to me and my children.
The cost of arranging travel for an adult outside Gaza currently varies
Between $5,000 and $7,000, and $2,500 for each child, in addition to a cost of living of $500 per month.
How can you help?
Your donations can be a beacon of hope for us. Every dollar can help save my children's lives and give them a chance to live in peace. Your prayers for us to overcome this ordeal and lift the siege are greatly needed
Laila: My beloved, the closest to my heart, and my little one.
Bakr: My child who came during this horrific war.
Donate now and help us get to safety
May God reward you greatly for your generosity.
Background on the Gaza war
The war in Gaza has left hundreds of thousands of victims, destroyed infrastructure, and left many homeless. The humanitarian situation in the region has reached critical levels, with severe shortages of basic necessities such as food, water and health care. Children are the most affected, as they have lost their sense of security, education and normal life.
Your support is our hope
Your donation is the light that can guide us towards a better future. Don't miss the chance to be part of a story that saves a family suffering from unimaginable hardships.
Donate now and make hope possible
Thank you for your support and kindness.
My gratitude
Salem and family
