EHEHEHE personally i think she’s genderfluid and uses he/she/they pronouns…….I think he was kind of an uncracked egg up until the trials though. like, he’s been in survival mode for so long that he’s never had the time or luxury to really think about himself or his identity….i think he’s had a lot of different disguises over his career though, and those personas are either male or female depending on what the situation calls for so he’s not a stranger to dressing femininely either.

Valid bc she’s a horrible liar) he’d definitely write a letter to nuru, too, but nuru is also in another kingdom, and that message takes a while to get to her, so it’s more something they talk about after the fact

John does get war hardened but its not as intense a time as 3 had. Hes still smiling a lot! probs the fact that he had a good home life and a good support system in his team. (Tanara is in his team!! Hes the one usually reining them back from emotionally wrecking opponents. Hes also the one who makes Tanara's soft side emerge! They have one. Its just buried under their desire to be Cool)

and Sun? he never got into Grizzco. he became Agent 4 and saved the world! barely!! he keeps running from the troops until Marie has to drag him back by the ear! John carries Sun around like luggage a lot. its comforting for the nervous wreck.

if you’ve read my balekin analysis then great, you already know that i went into detail abt balekins narcissism, and his tendency to see and assume the absolute worst in people.

on the other hand, and i neglected to mention this in my dain analysis, but prince dain, does the exact opposite.

he sees the best in people, or better speaking, he sees the opportunity. his entire court of shadows is made of a halfling, a human, and two former slaves to lord and lady jarel.

most faeries other than dain would probably look down on these people, based on stereotypes we’ve seen of the fae in jude’s perspective, but dain does not, he used them to his benefit.

it’s funny though, since both brothers use those tendencies to their advantage, so the execution of scheming to the throne and whatnot is there, it’s just their methods are opposite.

while dain was more secretly cruel, balekin was not afraid to be publicly awful, since he thought that everyone was or could’ve been just as awful as he was.

but it’s funny that these characteristics and parallels, are what led to their downfall.

-balekin underestimated jude, because he saw the flaws in her, saw her as unintelligent despite her living amongst the fae, then she flipped his bargain on him, then killed him.

-dain fussed the importance of his public image, (of hiding is murderous affairs that keep him in power mostly and..) of being the perfect golden prince boy to his father and a fair ruler to his people. because in doing so, he is manipulating the lower court rulers to want bend their heads to him, and also his people. he is using his image as an advantage to getting what he wants.

because he’s an opportunist.

that is shown when he manipulates jude and the court of shadows into thinking better of him, (see my dain analysis) and how he obv manipulates daddy into thinking his other kiddies are eeevillll!

furthermore, this is all shown in “The Lament of Lutie Loo” by holly black… in which dain maneuvers balekins scheme, where balekin flaunts his habit of assuming the worst in people, by taking advantage of the situation, and making lord roiben swear to him rather than balekin.

but of course, this led to balekin running him thru for seeing him as weak, and for taking the opportunity of having lord roiben swear to him away from him + all the other things dain probably did to balekin that made his path to succeeding the throne hindered.

one of the most sick things i have realized in the ppl around me who are still catholic, is how much they are plagued with catholic guilt. a girl who won't get surgery bc she believes its punishment for her sins. ppl who are nearly suicidal in their desire for heaven, and since heaven is coming, they do nothing to change their situation. they dont try to improve their lives or others or the planet bc at the end of the day this is a "fallen world" and "heaven is waiting." it is so sick to drill into a persons head since theyre a child that they were born evil, that they need god to fix them, they need god to sustain them, as if it wont affect their mental state at all as adults. my little cousins who have already shown signs of having anxiety about god, like asking if he'll be mad at them/their parents for doing normal, human things. like really being afraid of what that would mean. my opinion and love for this world and its people shifted sp drastically when i realized i could just stop. i could stop being afraid of god. i could stop thinking we all deserved to burn in a lake of eternal fire. who even makes a lake of eternal fire anyway? that very much does not sound like a me problem. when i left the church, i very much still believed in hell, and i very much believed it was a place i would go, and would deserve to go. but i chose it anyway. i chose the eternal torture, because who does a thing like eternal torture? if god would torture me forever, than that wasn't someone i wanted to associate with, consequences be damned. and slowly, i started to see the world differently. i know the world is on fire, and theres a few too many genocides occuring at the moment, and i do truly have it in me to detest forever the people who hurt innocent people. but still, desite it all, despite everything, i think we're good. yes, we do bad things, but at the end of the day, most of us just want to go home, and cuddle our pets/loved ones, and eat a good meal, and look at the stars and dream. we're not so different, and we're not so bad. idk where i was going with all this exactly, but i think the cure to catholic guilt is choosing to believe in the good. catholism says goodness can only come from god, and thats why were damned. but i think we *are* good. even despite all the reasons ppl give me on the contrary. bc i see ppl wish happy holidays to strangers, holidays they dont celebrate themselves, just to see them happy. i see strangers go out of there way to help people every single day. bc most of us understand that we all just want the same things, and are willing to help each other get them. we arent evil, and bad things arent some divine punishment, sometimes things just suck. the cure to catholic guilt, i think, is a love that can outcompete the divine.

it starts off normal with him snapping at Tanjiro for having no spine & sending them off to Urokodaki, instead of saying anything through letter he just tells Sabito to meet him with Urokodaki in 3 days- he spends a day dealing with a different demon nearby before catching up w Tanjiro

He gets there while Tanjiro's scaling the mountain, Sabito arrives not too long after and they all sit & drink some tea until Giyuu starts explaining what happened. Sabito flips his shit when Giyuu says he'd commit seppuku in response to Nezuko eating someone, they start arguing and snapping at eachother until Urokodaki says 'Enough!' in a Tone.

They both duck their heads and stop while he explains the little event that happened on the way, he notes that Nezuko has 'an unprecedented amount of restraint' and Giyuu shoots a Look at Sabito who looks like he's just swallowed a lemon but relents to Giyuu's choice to let her live. Tanjiro arrives and collapses at the door, Sabito notes the look of sheer determination in his face before it turned confused at the New People in the house

Sabito gets up and walks out past him, Tanjiro turns back to Urokodaki & Giyuu and asks who that was. 'dont mind him, he doesnt like your situation right now. you'll encounter worse [than him] on your travels down this path' Tanjiro nods to the warning, then eats & they all chat for a bit before he finally conks out.

Urokodaki forces Giyuu to do chores around the place and set up him & Sabito's room since theyre staying for a little bit, like an hour in Sabito comes back and does his share of chores n such- they sort of ignore eachother, a little passive aggressively from Giyuu's side, it has Urokodaki shaking his head at their little spat

When it comes time to sleep Sabito finally caves when Giyuu lays down with his back towards him at a distance. He apologizes and says he realizes how much it means to Giyuu, 'im just scared of losing you' and Giyuu melts- how can he be mad about that? they make-up cuddle about it and in the morning they are rudely woken up by Very Loud Noise Very Close To Their Face- Urokodaki's way of getting back at them for not visiting for months, suddenly dumping 2 more children on him, and making him deal with their moody little asses the whole day before (he's still glad to see them despite all that tho<3)

over the course of 2 years whenever either of them would have time between missions they'd usually check in on how Tanjiro's training was coming along or if Nezuko ever woke up, after the first year when they stopped by they'd spar with him and correct his stance & motions and whatnot. Sabito's still a hardass and a little bit mean but he means well, Giyuu's very bad at teaching tho. Tanjiro really has to learn through actions with him bc he doesnt know how to explain whats wrong and whats okay. when they're not around Makomo's still the one sweetly running him into the ground with training<3

g1deon and pyrrha + gideon and harrow throughlines scattered in all of tlt continue to drive me insane.

the initial investigation scenes post the 5th deaths where the 2nd house tries to pull cohort rank control of the situation, gideon & harrow immediately sneak away to learn that the winnowing trial was developed by the second house and cohort founders, g1deon & pyrrha. winnowing as incorporating the other, refusing distractions for the sake of true control, loyalty and duty.

gideon is wearing his sunglasses, rifling through their things. she doesn’t see it as a real place someone would live in, only a stop along the way to somewhere else, more whole.

she sees a gun on the wall that her mother's ghost will use the river memory of to try and kill harrow in the dream of cannan house:

It took Gideon a long time to realise that she was looking at something goddamn ancient: it was a blowback carbine gun. She’d only ever seen pictures. ….. The hairs on the back of Gideon’s neck had risen when the lights came on, and they hadn’t gone back down, as if her intrusion might well tempt time back to claim its grave goods. GTN chapter 19

gideon reads "one flesh, one end" for the first time. she tells harrow these people were living in each others pockets, the same phrase she'll later use to describe the two of them. pyrrha spent nearly 10,000 years locked in a drawer in gideon the first’s mind bc he couldn't bear to let her go. gideon tells harrow how they feel like strangers despite growing up together.

harrow cant stand the thought and in less than a month harrow will lock gideon in a drawer and gideon the first will relentlessly try to kill harrow in her waking hours to spare her the agony he'll never learn is closely parallel to his, and when she fails to hear his real name her brain starts bleeding:

in g+p’s room harrow says that theyre all the ninth house has ( = you’re all that i have). gideon firmly says shes "NO ONE'S son or daughter"

but in less than a year gideon’s mother, sitting opposite her father, will recognize pyrrha with a sense of profound relief before her revenant is unceremoniously killed. gideon will watch through harrows eyes, in hiding:

i don’t have a conclusion to this rn i’m just……much to think abt. the displacement of grief, the loyalty through control, how it just happens over and over and over again and they just bear witness as tools or trapped souls or revenants, clinging to anything they can even if they don’t remember it.

The cruise arc is way crazier animated wtfff i CRIED during yor's revelation rearranging her motivation to keep her job.

I think yor and yuri sibling relationship is rarely being discussed because of the siscon gag. Its annoying honestly (the whole siscon ordeal being in the way), bc they have a very deep connection. Yuri prolly only remember yor as the only caregiver and family his whole life. On the other hand, yor remember the part where theyre still children with parents, hence why she said "I'm glad you (yuri) are with me". Yuri is an integral person in her life. The center of her motivation to fight. And yuri grew up to fight for HER too.

It's so heartbreaking that i feel sorry. Covering up their own bloodied hand from each other and still managed to put up cheerful face to one another. They both matured very young in their own way. Yor as the head of the family, the breadwinner, and yuri burdened with guilt as he feel powerless to be the one who protects her. As ironic as it is, since she doesn't need one. Although, both shouldn't have been in that position. Yor shouldve gone to school herself rather than taking dirty politicians life. Yuri grew to be more selfish than yor is—he only cared about her and everything comes back to her. His moral is yor. While yor managed to build moral compass that is based on humanity and compassion. But how did they have this divided perspective on living? What made yor grow up so well, despite spending almost all her life in the cold battlefield? Was there a parental figure that keep yor's moral inclined?

Yuri being possessive and obsessive worship toward yor most probably is a result of witnessing her coming home disheveled all his life. He went to school as an orphan too, theres chances him and yor are being bullied by their surrounding on childhood period. That's probably enough reason, beside his personality is a part of comedic gag. But still, i would want to know what happened throughout his life too. Yor was so positive, and shes his parental figure, but he formed his own grey moral to hold on as a mindset.

I'm curious too as too how and why they moved to the city. They lived in outskirts i believe? What made them move out? I think around her teenage year yor managed to reach thier financial for the better, and chose schools in the city for yuri's better education? As far as i remember, yuri was doing his education year pretty fast compared to his peers

And also, i know in the canon timeline yuri being an sss officer were probably going for less than a year. But hes already got someone close to a caring guardian, his lieutenant. He even knew about yuri whole motivation being his sister (well ig everyone who acquainted yuri will automatically be shoved with yuri's yapping on yor)

I feel like the canon manga should really address the situation between their sibling relation. When the secrets are out in light, would that motivation will stay the same? Same goes to loid as well, although he would be still pretty strong on that since his motivation is going to make the world for a better place. He aims so high its still wouldn't be a question if he decided to stay in this line of work. While yor and yuri though, some parts its still solid if they stayed respectively, but since their motivation is to have their own siblings in peace while in reality they fought their own battles—it will bring even more questioning about their motivation to live and fight.

At some point the siscon gag need to be dropped. It feels a shame if theyre not getting more explored. Yuri thinking loid stole yor from him is a given since hes practically made himself bitchless but he need to flip the script and accept the new addition as his family—that way he will feel less sense of loneliness. He thought with loid in the picture he might taken the role of protecting yor from the dirty world (but for this hes stubborn and think loid isn't capable enough) (i just thought this would made some sense on why he hates loid so much) (i rationalize things other than his irrational siscon thing bc i dislike that)

why otto is so pissed off at subaru (arc 8 ch 24)

hello im otto posting Again but im writing this in an attempt to understand this subject myself (and totally not as a reference for later…) and also bc some people in the fandom seemed to be confused on Why ottos so angry at the moment. but i really think the key reason why hes so mad at subaru right now comes from this: otto treasures the people he cares about far above anyone else—to the point where if he needs to make sacrifices, he absolutely will because the people he cares about (his friends in emilia camp) go First before everyone else in his mind.

like. thats ottos key reason for everything hes been doing in arc 8. all his other reasoning branches off from that—like him wanting to leave vollachia for dead and only take the people his camp cares about. otto sees the path that will keep his camp safest—ie just going into vollachia to rescue rem and subaru and then immediately getting out—and he chooses that rather than subaru and emilias more noble approach of refusing to leave vollachia and its population of 50 million people to die. otto himself is aware that his own strategy is Callous, especially after roswaal told him in chapter 24 that he agrees with ottos proposed strategy of just leaving vollachia. but otto thinks that its 1. entirely necessary and 2. he Knows that thats the optimal way to keep the emilia camp safe.

he knows that staying in vollachia and helping vincent is a massive risk to his whole camp. otto being a merchant values equivalent exchange and Hates too much cost, which is On Top of otto knowing that going out of their way to help vollachia is risking the entire emilia camp’s lives. but otto Knows subaru and emilia. and he knows that subaru and emilia are idealists at heart that will do everything they can to save Everyone, which is why despite being Extremely Unhappy about all of this, otto plays hard to get so vincent is the one who asks for their help. that way, at least the decision to help vollachia looks more like accepting the request of vollachias emperor and adding more accomplishments under their belt and Less Like just going out of their way to vollachia for no benefit at all.

otto valuing his camp above everything else is also why he creates distance between himself and julius and anastasia and emphasizes that theyre enemies. for otto, its Absolutely the emilia camp above everyone else.

then theres the whole louis situation. otto, of course, knows that subaru cares about louis Despite everything shes done.

so. essentially. i think ottos extremely pissed about subaru always going out of his way to try and be a hero because otto knows this comes at a Detriment to subaru (bc otto CARES about subaru!!! he knows subaru is WAY too selfless and forgiving and he cant agree with that!!!) and otto worries for the cost of subarus decisions, especially with the current conflict regarding louis. otto has accepted that, unlike the majority of his camp, that he has to be the Bad Guy. because in ottos mind, no one else in his camp is going to be bold enough to be the ruthless morally questionable one. he thinks its 100% necessary to play this role to minimize the costs and threats to his camp.

which is why he hasnt told anyone, despite knowing this from his dp, that louis/spica is innocent.

hes fully aware that—even though hes manipulating his own camp—louis will be more likely to be eliminated if he keeps quiet about the fact that she has Zero malice. louis being eliminated means one less threat to his camp. and otto KNOWS that subaru cares about louis and is upset at the idea of her dying (which is at least partly why otto snapped at julius in chapter 23!!), but ottos decided that killing louis comes at a far less cost than keeping her alive. because keeping her alive means dealing with the consequences of the emilia camp calling her an ally and rem and subaru recognizing her as their daughter when louis has affected So Many people. otto knows this and wants to prevent it at all costs.

otto wants her dead for these reasons. otto figures that he has to be the one walking in darkness bc he not only wants to help emilia and subaru and preserve their idealism (bc he Knows that its important to them!! its who they are at heart and he cares about them in turn bc of their kindness and goodness!!!), but otto also wants to help by being the necessary evil. because someone has to.

that, of course, wont stop otto from being pissed at subarus decisions. this also, of course, wont stop subaru from being pissed if he ever finds out otto withheld the fact that he knows louis is 100% innocent just so he can make sure that 1. the rest of emilia camp stays suspicious of louis and 2. louis gets killed. i really do think ottos questionable decisions will eventually catch up to him—because he stands in direct opposition to everything subaru stands for.

subaru wants to save everyone. he wants to have it all, even if it costs him. otto, meanwhile, chooses only who he cares about because hes not idealistic enough to believe he can have everything, and he believes that sacrifices have to be made even if its cruel. and he knows that subaru cant do that, but it still angers him because hes trying to keep subaru safe while subaru insists on trying to accomplish everything without sacrificing anyone. otto doesnt think its possible at all. but otto knows its not in subarus nature to be pragmatic.

which is why otto takes A Lot of the things subaru has been doing in arc 8 Extremely Personally. because its Very personal for otto.

some of you may recognize the second and third ones, thats bc theyre old fav ocs of mine that i bestowed the highest honor (made into dt chars) these guys and juniper tend to get in a lot of trouble together and also the four of them may or may not be active spreaders of vampire rumors ive decided. tormenting those old men

in order from left to right:

kipper | nonbinary, he/they + aroace - bubbly sunshine guy who was adopted by a bunch of edgelords - he loves fashion and gardening (can you guess his fav thing to grow lmao) - theyre actually the protector of the group, as hes the most confident and courageous in the face of danger. also keeps rocks + bandaids in that bag hes holding so he can play healing or defense depending on the situation - he and ashton are qpps - originally had a normal rotary phone for a head, but they got a cute little strawberry flipphone and then had their head modeled after it bc he loved it so much (the white dots are rhinestones !) - technically lives with his parents still, but they travel a lot for work and are rarely ever in town so he basically lives in a house on his own that they pay for - plays an electronic keyboard

ashton | agender, he/it + ace and demiro - antisocial and mean and cranky - hes selectively mute and if he does speak its usually to inform someone hes leaving on account of them being boring or annoying - its pretty athletic and can do a few different tricks like backflips and stuff - he has a major interest in bugs, especially arachnids, and actually keeps live spiders and scorpions in his head. which is unfortunate considering the Massive Hole. he has a favorite scorpion and her name is glass - it's junipers next door neighbor in the apartments, its parents kicked it out around the same time juniper was showing up in town and a friend of the family it was on good terms with helped it back on its feet - hes not very expressive physically or emotionally unless hes angry - has a huge blindspot on the half of his face with the hole and if you come at him from that side and get hit bc you spooked him he considers it your fault - plays the drums

almagest | trans, he/him + gay - goes by alma for short - stereotypical gamer boy who lounges around a lot and eats almost exclusively junkfood - despite having a keyboard for a head he does not like it when hes called a catboy. he prefers to be called a ratboy as rats are his favorite animal he just wanted the rainbow gaming keyboard for gamer gender swag - he has pretty poor eyesight and bumps into things a lot, and is partially why kipper always has bandaids on hand - technically lives in an apartment with his dad, who kinda sucks, so he spends a majority of his life either with the friend group or crashing at the place of his old babysitter Amora (he stays there so much he has his own room at her place) - technically knows how to make games himself and has made small demos of things for fun, but struggles to keep motivation up too much to fully develop anything - plays guitar (juniper is usually lead, hes usually rhythm)

i probably will not be finishing this unless i get a random spirt of motivation in the future. for those who dont know, this is my newly designed homestuck (+humanstuck) au based off the movie parasite 2019 that i will NOT shut up abt. information abt the au under the cut (THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR PARASITE)

mainly just going to talk abt the character choices just bc the au follows the same plot as the movie

the kim family (the set of main characters) includes karkat in place of the dad, terezi in place of the mom, vriska in place of the sister and sollux in place of the brother. none of them are related, its more of a tight knit friend group if anything

karkat: i chose karkat for this role as the dad due to the fact that he is known to be the "leader" in most situations, looking out for his friends and has their best interest in mind despite his anger issues and trouble showing it through words and otherwise. his love language is defending his friends at any cost

terezi: terezi in more independent although still looks out for the people she lives with, in this au i wanted her to be a bit more serious and more aggressive, labeling her as more morally grey. she believes the actions portrayed by the mom in the film as morally correct due to the fact that she sees it as a sort of way to get equal ground to those in the higher class. i thought this would be an interesting approach to the whole justice thing, personally. she wants whats best for her and her friends in a more financial state, considering the household of friends are in a state of poverty

vriska: i chose vriska for the role of the sister due to the fact the sister tends to be very easy to trick people for her own benefit, being able to twist lies to benefit her and her friends. she cares the least about the friends she has (although this doesnt mean she doesnt care for them at all), leading her to be more independent as well. vriska is more cold, and more snaky than the other people in the household

sollux: as the brother figure i thought sollux would be the best fit due to the fact that the brother in the film is more so concerned about the rich families daughter (who in this case is aradia. big surprise ik) who he wants to essentially get with. while his wants are a bit more selfish in this case, he figures he can try to make this a better thing for his group of friends rather than just himself considering the situation their household in being put in

the park family (the rich family) has more of a role that i couldnt really pinpoint character wise? some of these can be replaced with other characters, which also goes for the maid and her husband as well. i just chose these characters personally to fit my vision, others are allowed to modify them as you wish!

kanaya + rose: these are the parents, theyre both a married couple and the household is known as the lalonde-maryam residence. kanaya in this au is far more different than the wife from the family, while the wife was more clueless, kanaya is just more trusting. she suspects something is going on but doubts herself in the fact that she thinks shes doing the right thing for her family, ultimately believing the lies of the friend group household. rose is more skeptical as well, usually having kanaya be the one to tell her to not worry as much because kanaya thinks the extra help could benefit their family

the little boy and daughter are replaced with roxy (little boy (girl in this case)) and aradia due to the fact that there... wasnt really anything i could go off of since the characters in the film lack the screentime to really show character development or a major personality. these are essentially just fill in roles and can be changed in the future

the maid and her husband are nepeta and equius (bc i am soooo normal abt them /lie) (these characters can also be changed if wanted)

nepeta: as the maid, nepeta is very sweet and compliant, usually very caring of the family and values the job more than anything due to the fact of her and equius' living situation. she feels bad having to use the rich family for selfish reasons, but ultimately she has to do whats best for her and equius for them to survive and she doesnt want anything coming inbetween them or to take away what they fought to have in the first place

equius: as the husband, he has a sort of unspecified condition or illness that needs treatment and is unable to work and is mostly bedridden. the specifics are unknown as of now. the illness he has causes him to be more aloof although able to defend himself and nepeta. spending so much time in an isolated place also caused him to be more mentally unstable as a result, again, specifics are for the most part unknown
