being a jujutsu sorcerer and a parent rarely ends well. sorcerers who have to fight for their lives everyday barely have any time and energy even for themselves. adding babies to the picture is hard to imagine.

but gojo was determined to balance his work and personal life when you entered his life, which is why he has a baby girl strapped to his chest as he holds up his hand and crosses his fingers, already to send a special grade curse into his domain.

"daddy~" his baby babbles, cheek squished against his purple uniform.

"yes, baby?" gojo smiles down at his baby and gently sweeps her hair out of her eyes. he pays little to no attention to the curse, who had already spread out their domain and is currently sending wave after wave of attacks, all of which gojo repels with a touch. "this is domain expansion," he gently explains to her, smirking at the curse who is obviously offended that he wasn't taking them seriously. "in a second, you're gonna see daddy's domain."

his baby blinks and shuffles around in the strap, whining a bit as she tries to get comfortable. for all she knows, it's too dark and hot and she misses mommy's smell.

before she knows it, the space around her begins to look like the night sky, and she can't see the curse anymore.

"this is my domain," her daddy says, but she misses seeing the sun. why is it nighttime all of the sudden?

"nooo" she whines as she kicks around. where's the ice cream he promised her earlier? and where is mommy? she doesn't want to go to sleep yet!

"not easily impressed, hm?" he laughs, protectively holding his baby's head against his chest as he closes up his domain after finishing off the curse.

"let's go get ice cream, yeah?" he ruffles her hair and holds up her hands, dancing them up in the air with a huge grin. the sunlight hits her face again and a smile quickly reappears. "you did so good today. did you learn a lot about jujutsu fights today? did'ja enjoy our little adventure together?"

"ice cweam" she smiles, doing a few happy kicks. and that's how the tradition of getting ice cream after missions started for the daddy-daughter pair.

I have been thoroughly castigated by a couple of folks in the Naps community regarding my opinions/posts about the Lovely Louise. Not that I've ever been bothered by any criticism when my opinions are bolstered by facts, but there you are. Some folks just see what they expect or want to see. We can all agree that Jean-Boy was never invited to parties, dinners, and balls because of his clever repartee or his excellent manners. He was invited because he dropped F-bombs between dinner courses, greatly enlivening the discourse, expressed his opinions of the other guests, NOT sotto voce, and other shenanigans that kept imperial gatherings from being entirely soporific. He was, therefore, very popular.

The Lovely Louise did not have endless supplies of small talk, or of the kind ladies of the era were used to and trained in developing. She was awkward and self-centered when she bothered to appear at court and kept to the sidelines, sulking until she could escape without attracting any notice. She definitely did not have "delicate manners." She scarcely had any public manners at all. Her poor education at the hands of her mother, an utterly inconsequential bourgeois woman with pretensions, was both noticed and criticized roundly by the other women in Marie-Louise's entourage, who disliked her intensely for her greedy habits, her lack of any real breeding, and the execrable job she did as M-L's dame d'honneur. There are quite a few contemporary memoirs that had a great deal to say about this woman, none of it flattering. Also consider the fact that the Lovely Louise had absolutely no female friends. Not. One. She spent her time with her parents in their "country house" east of Paris, in the company of Corvisart--another slimy specimen--and a shadowy equerry who was an alleged friend of the family. And her children, of course, whose interests she defended against all comers with a singular ferocity. She adored her children, although she disliked the way children were obtained--I suspect she preferred the cabbage patch method. So, what sort of relationship did these two disparate people have? I think the only reason it survived was the enforced separations that prevented an open breach. The longest period that Jean was home--from August 1807 through September 1808--he spent most of his time not in his country house that used to belong to the comte d'Artois but in Lectoure, hanging out with friends and family that his wife refused to visit or even acknowledge, and complained when he went without her. The short version: the Lovely Louise had a pleasing, pretty facade that hid pettiness, greed, arrogance, ignorance, a tendency to whine and moan, and no redeeming qualities worth noting.

Whether he's Luna's godfather or Draco's favourite uncle, or Tonks' favourite person to mess with, or if he has his own little kid, (we all know I'm a sucker for jegulily as parents, especially with Lily swearing to him he'll be a great father after he doubts himself) he would be the best. Also Jegulus girl dads is so insanely perfect.

I don't trust anyone who says he'd be awful with kids. I just get a strong feeling from him.

columbo is a great example of a character who is empathetic without necessarily being kind or compassionate.

while columbo can be both kind and compassionate, it’s rarely towards his victims (i.e., the murderer of the episode)

but one of the most frequent ways he gets onto the killer, finds a spot to start digging, is because something they do pings as emotionally incongruous. they say all the right things with the right intonation, but their actions--often very small actions--don’t match the emotional state they’re projecting. columbo gets right up into that emotional state, feels it all the way through, and then says: now why would you do something like that if you felt like this?

so while he is methodical, dogged, and perceptive, i think his greatest detective superpower is empathy; specifically empathy-without-compassion, empathy-without-kindness. the ability to fully put himself in someone else’s shoes and notice, with laser precision, when they don’t fucking fit.

At some point, I think people have to contend with the fact that misgendering isn't a completely a universally agreed upon concept in the specific sense that misgendering can be very personal.

What may be misgendering to you will not be to other trans people - even if they have the same gender as you. You may be misgendered if somebody used the wrong label to describe you (e.g., somebody calling you "girl," even if it is slang), but that does not mean that that will apply to everybody.

It's important to recognize this because so often, people will say things like, "you can't use this label/phrase/term for any trans person who is a [gender]! And if any trans person who is a [gender] uses those labels/phrases/terms, they're wrong and bad!" and that is simply too broad a generalization.

It's fine to be uncomfortable with certain things like this. It is fine if you don't want to be misgendered, and indeed, I share in that sentiment. However, that does not mean that your comforts and discomforts apply to all trans people or all trans people who share your gender. There's a difference in that, I think.
