Fern's Nehalennia Deep Dive: pt. 3
Tumblr media
Correspondences:
🌊 Animals: Dogs, seals, any sea animals, seagulls 🌊 Crystals/Rocks: Grey moonstone, aquamarine, moonstone, shells, sand dollars, sea urchins, clear quartz 🌊 Flowers/Plants: Seaweed, wheat, apples, apple blossoms, coastal flowers 🌊 Food/Drink: Apples, breads, grapes, pears, fish, salt, fish sauce, wine, fresh water 🌊 Colours: Greys, blues, beiges, whites, golds, bronzes, golden browns, sea greens 🌊 Moon Phases: All, especially full and blue moon 🌊 Festivals: Buddingh ties Nehalennia to a Zeeland's festival called Hanneliesjesdag. A day where the youth of Zeeland would go out and revel. This was celebrated on the first Monday of May, and the first Thursday of November. I personally celebrate Nehalennia at the Autumn Equinox, as well as on the 14th of April, when she resurfaced. 🌊 Magics: Abundance, success in business, protection in travel, sea witchery, mermaid magic, selkie magic, knot magic, when needing guidance, to connect to the land and sea where I come from. Tranquillity and serenity, but also tempest. 🌊 Nature: the sea, apples, wheat, storms, waves, the scent of salt on the breeze 🌊 Other: cornucopia, basket with harvest, front of a ship, canopy shaped like a shell, pereline, anchor, ship’s wheel, Selkies, mermaids, lighthouses, stars for navigation, knots, navigational tools, maps, ships, bow and arrow, Avalon or other magical isles (of the dead) across the sea
How to honour:
🌾 Light a candle, like a lighthouse 🌾 Practice sea witchery or knot magic 🌾 Go to the sea and walk the shore 🌾 Travel by ship 🌾 Tend a garden and harvest 🌾 Go apple picking 🌾 Bake bread or something with apples, pears, or grapes 🌾 Make an offering stone 🌾 Donate to sea or ocean preservation causes 🌾 Pick up litter at the beach 🌾 Go to an aquarium 🌾 Listen to ocean soundscapes 🌾 Walk, feed, or pet a dog
Other Info:
⛵ Nehalennia is the only one to wear her distinct pereline, or short shoulder cloak. No other Goddess has been found who wears it. The significance is not known, perhaps it was a local way of dress. ⛵ There is a rebuild temple in Zeeland on Colijnsplaat. A square roman building painted an earthy orange inside and out. Inside are several historical pieces displayed, as well as a large stone statue that often has offerings in front of it. In "het Archeon", an open air historical re-enactment museum, there is also a small shrine to her, as well as another replica of her temple where they hold daily rituals in her honour. ⛵ The Dutch paganfolk band Heidevolk has a song called Nehalennia, as does the band Twigs and Twine. ⛵ She is the most well known local Goddess of the Netherlands, and many things are named after her: from archaeological magazines to viaducts. ⛵ In 2019 the Dutch contestant of Miss Universe wore a blue dress completely made of trash fished out of the sea. It was called Nehalennia and made in honour of the Goddess.
Prayers:
Deae Nehalennia (in English) In the churning waves I hear Her voice. Nehalennia Her wind plays with my locks, Her silten blessing touches my lips. Deae Nehalennia. She who faces the storm and flows from it, stronger She who shows us the way and guards our journey She whose rage causes ships to perish She whose tender embrace brings us peace and joy Lady Nehalennia, Power of the North Sea Hear me! For I am your daughter Your salted water flows through my veins Your storm rages through my body Your strength and dept I inherited Mother Nehalennia Heart of the North Sea Be with me!
Nehalennia chant Stuurvrouw, Oogstmoeder, Vrouwe van de Zee. Ik drijf if uw golven, Draag mij met u mee
Steerswoman, Harvestmom, Lady of the Sea, I float in your waves, Lady, carry me
(to the tune of Horned One, Lover, Son)

Hopefully it won't be rude, (I have got a couple of uestions) but how the heck did you manage to find , buy and own the Jackie Polo Ralph Laren blue white stripe sweater?!
I haven't seen it anywhere and I have bee seaching for months.
Would you mind showing us your Yellowjackets collection?
What other TV shows and movies you love? Music?
Do you think people who haven't watched the show nad know nothing about it will love or hate it based on the first two episodes?
Thank you for your blog, it is fantastic. The amount of time you are spending on it clearly proves your love for the show.
No it’s okay, I enjoy answering questions!
I got my Jackie sweater off of Ebay but I spent a long time searching for one before that. I found it helpful to add variation to my searches (some more vague and some specific) on the different platforms and when possible (on sites like Ebay or Mercari), save the searches so I would get notified when possible matches popped up. You could also try putting a photo of the sweatshirt into Google Lens to see if any show up for sale in the results. Poshmark, Depop, and Thredup are also good places to look as those are specifically for buying and selling clothing.
As for my personal collection I don’t really have it in a nice display or anything (most of it’s just hung in my closet) so here is a collage of the items I have:
Tumblr media
I didn’t include a handful of pieces such as the custom items I’ve made like my letterman jacket as well as some items I got that are inspired by the show and a few figurines.
I also want to add that overall the majority of the pieces in my collection I was able to purchase for deals less than $15 and I’ve been collecting for about 2 years so I didn’t get these all at once. Additionally quite a few were given to me as gifts.
I enjoy a lot of other shows but the main ones are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. I’m also excited for the new episodes of School Spirits and Ghosts (CBS) on Paramount+ which should be out soon. As for movies, the ones I probably rewatch the most are the Goldfinch (2019), Avalon High (2010), and Mermaids (2003) but not in that order.
I like a lot of different music but this is what Recieptify says about the music I listened to in 2024:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A fun fact is that the Runaways song “Cherry Bomb” has consistently been in my top 5 songs of the year since I got my Spotify in 2017.
In regard to new people watching the show, I think that someone would generally know after watching the first two episodes if they wanted to continue the show. It’s really just a question of personal taste. There’s plenty of shows I’ve watched the first few episodes of and knew it wasn’t for me or inversely that it was a show I was interested continuing. I think F Sharp and the Pilot do a great job at setting up the characters and the rest of the show as well as being upfront as to what the show is about.
For me, I was already interested in the show because I’d been seen Sophie Thatcher in “When The Streetlights Go On” and so I was following Yellowjackets on here as the first season aired. I continued to follow the show through the second season before finally catching up and watching it all before the last two episodes aired.
Sorry if this is too long, hopefully I was able to answer your questions!

I wanted to make a video like I did for Mordred and Morgause about Kay through time but it is so sad that his appearances are literally everywhere but with such little substance overall, usually just thrown there as a name. Still, this is what I got!

Music is a thing in the music industry and so I would like to talk about music,
Why Plunderphonic Concept Albums Should Be a Bigger Thing, Actually.
Plunderphonics is such a fascinating genre to me. There is so much potential in taking pieces from other peoples' work and using those pieces to orchestrate a new work entirely. Not just that, but taking those pieces and crafting a new story out of them aurally, like a concept album or a sound collage, something of the sort.
When I say that, the first example that comes to people's minds when it comes to sample-based concept albums, it's most likely Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker. If you don't already know, Leyland Kirby produced a monolithic 6-part saga of albums that ran from 2016 to 2019, each part representing a different stage of Alzheimer's disease & dementia and each part taking from super old traditional pop & jazz records and warping them to some degree until the very end where they're no longer intelligible. It's an absolutely staggering work of art and it blew up in the years since its conclusion to stunned reactions.
Tumblr media
But to me, there's a lot more do delve into than creating haunting ambient pieces like this. Not to knock The Caretaker at all, I think it's amazing that this even happened, but it's nothing that I would personally want to listen to regularly, unless I wanna feel spooked by putting on Stage 3, but even then, look me in the eye and tell me you would listen to that kind of thing in the background on a casual setting.
Another artist that kind of fails in this regard is also one of the most important & genre-defining plunderphonics acts. Negativland are an infamous band in one of the best ways possible, using sample-based music to create some of the most biting pieces of satire in the late 80s and even 90s. I love it. They still don't have that replayability to me personally, but I still can't think of songs like Christianity is Stupid and Yellow Black & Rectangular from their Escape From Noise album without chucking a laughing fit.
Tumblr media
Nowadays, plunderphonics music is so much easier to make than with the technology they had back then, so those albums are still miracles to me. Today, they're almost too easy to make. There are more plunderphonics albums in this past decade and a half than at any other point in history. To mention that, I need to talk about vaporwave again. They didn't start off as super detailed conceptual albums, but the way they have presented themselves over the years, you'd think they were conceptual by default.
Vektroid's pioneering albums in this genre are very potently indicative of the sounds, atmospheres and even worlds that they were not only capturing, but deeply exuding in their mere presence. You listen to Floral Shoppe under her Macintosh Plus alias and you are immediately taken somewhere else. It's completely atmospheric in that there's an ambience to the music that's playing and how they're twisted to warp you into its reality.
Tumblr media
I know I've knocked The Caretaker's music for being too ambient, but there's a musicality in the way that Vektroid distorts her samples that still keeps them wildly enjoyable to me. I've especially been tuning into her New Dreams Ltd. project's Initiation Tape: Isle of Avalon Edition a lot recently for this exact reason. I almost so desperately want a visual accompanyment, I want to be in that lonely hotel room in the middle of the night with only this music & my feeling.
I could talk all day & every day about vaporwave albums that capture me and lift me away with their potent atmospheres. Tuning into Vacant Places by Hantasi, which makes me float like a ghost across the halls of its incredibly haunted & dense yet empty shopping centre; or The Path to Lost Eden (ロストエデンへのパス) by Nmesh & telepath テレパシー能力者 whose individual sides take me to two different ends of a journey to a mystical rainforest paradise; or Into the Light by Infinity Frequencies if I ever want to see The Backrooms again.
Tumblr media
I also want to add probably vaporwave's biggest leading act right now into the conversation, who were responsible for some of the genre's most enriching & creative concept albums. death's dynamic shroud.wmv is a supergroup who at a point in time were creating conceptual mixtapes non-stop in 2014, my personal favourite being SEAWRLDハートブレーク from their member Tech, but there are a ton of fan favourites across their discography to choose from.
They didn't stop there either. James & Keith put together the group's magnum opus in their essential I'll Try Living Like This the following year and after a while of slowing down, they've since kicked off the NUWRLD Mixtape Club with new albums almost every month, many of which are concept albums of multiple stripes! It's so impressive how much they've been able to put together as a group.
Tumblr media
But I'm getting ahead of myself, because over the course of its existence, vaporwave as a genre has also grown to have albums sometimes simply be albums without the need for heavy concepts or even samples to speak of to deliver an atmosphere. But I want to talk about a certain artist who bridges between plunderphonics & vaporwave in ways that I think have loads of potential in unprecedented ways.
If you know me, you know I'm talking about christtt. He's one of the most experimental figures in the vaporwave genre and often the most polarising because of it. His 2016 album no lives matter* takes the simplest components of vaporwave and completely flips them on their head by delivering themes & concepts of death and the afterlife in hell. It's the minimal sample editing and yet potent atmospheres that are common in most vaporwave albums taken to some of their logical extremes.
Tumblr media
Along with that, you have his 2018 album deep dark trench, another concept album that delivers in a completely unique way, taking from sound collage to deliver emotions about worldwide tragedies. Not to mention his side-project 아버지 (father2006) and its album reflection, another album about death that is far more ambient, simultaneously dissonant and yet emotionally devastating. These three are among my favourite albums of all time. They are so incredibly captivating, both sonically & conceptually that they make up my most replayed listens ever.
There is so much potential in the music that he's creating that so few people are taking from to create their own concept albums with these approaches to vaporwave & plunderphonics. Especially since the ones that I currently have in mind the most recently are also among the most flawed examples. To bring up christtt again, as much as his best material has some amount of contentious decisions put into them, his lower received material is even more debatable.
Tumblr media
His most recent album last year A.D. is probably his most underrated? It combines many of the styles that he's experimented with in a concept album about the rapture. It mostly centers around the lone survivor, but there's also a suite of tracks titled hell that surround those in the afterlife, which caught many people off guard. Even worse is social justice whatever from 2017, what I see as a love letter to the early ages of the internet paired with subtle sombre & bittersweet moments, most other people see as a compilation of chopped together memes & shitposts, understandably so.
But the biggest example to me of the unforeseen potential in music such as this is made not by him but one of his protégés. This year, a friend of mine RAWINTHEVOID put out their most recent concept album NOTINTHEMOOD, which tells the story of love at first sight turned into a sexual yet eventually bitter & spiteful relationship. There are some amazing tracks on this album that I highly recommend you sit through to find for yourself, but in my opinion, it also has some rough patches. I'm proud to say he's certainly found his edge ten albums in, but it needs some sharpening & polishing to say the least.
Conclusion? No. Concussion. 💥🔨
Overall, I hope this post serves as an inspiration for more albums like these to be made. Plunderphonic music these days is so easy to create, but it's also much more difficult to create great plunderphonic music and additionally, great plunderphonic concept albums. I would kill to see so many more albums like these coming out today. With the state of Bandcamp right now and how slowly the vaporwave scene itself has been progressing since 2017, it's easy to not have too much hope, but the potential I see is incredibly boundless and I implore anybody reading this who's interested in making music like this to get creative and go wild. The music world is your plundered oyster.

Anyways *Takes Psychic Damage thinking about how Castoria’s Spring Memories were almost certainly the very journey she took to reach Avalon in the first place.
*Takes Further Psychic Damage thinking about how the reward CE was titled “Gloucester in 2020” despite Faerie Britain still being in 2019. The CE is an impossible future where Castoria could have been happy with Faerie Gareth and Cnoc na Riabh, and is described as the Spring Memories she wished she could have.*

The fatebinding continues aka if TYPE MOON won't give me printed media I'll make it myself
Photos and details under the cut!
This time, it's the Fate route True End (Réalta Nua) . It's a two way book, with the text left to right, meeting the manga right to left at the picture of Saber from the P S Vita ending. The text (Last Episode: Ending of the dream, after the last bit of the og ending i.e. Continuation of the Dream) I got from Youtube (typed it out), and the manga is the Beast's Lair translation of the Curtain Call memorial manga by Nakatani, from the Type Moon 15th Anniversary artbook (2019). It came out to 66 pages including coloured pages, (not including cover, end papers and blank pages),and I used a thick paper to get it a little thick. It's "perfect bound" ,with a soft cover

I'm really happy with it! Check out the Fate ending book and Garden of Avalon on the top shelf!!

Toyota Avalon (1995-2022)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This post will cover the Avalon from the beginning of it's production in 1994 to it's eventual discontinuation in the U.S. by 2022.
1995-1999 Toyota Avalon (XX10)
Tumblr media
The Avalon was first introduced in February of 1994 at the Chicago International Auto Show. The name itself however, originated from a concept car of the same name, which was displayed at the 1991 Toyota Motor Show. The car was introduced as a 1995 model. This Avalon was based on XV10 generation of the Camry. The trim levels for this generation Avalon were the XL and XLS, based on the LE and XLE trim levels respectively.
2000-2004 Toyota Avalon (XX20)
Tumblr media
Although the Avalon was still based on the design of the Camry, it was produced as a much larger sedan for the second generation. For the 2003 model, the Avalon was given a slight facelight, including an updated grille and tailights. There were also minor updates to the interior as well.
2005-2012 Toyota Avalon (XX30)
Tumblr media
For this generation, the Avalon was stylized as a much larger car than the previous two generations. At was at this time that the Avalon also became the first ever Toyota car to use a single piece wiper blade design. The XX30 Avalon also introduced the Touring and Limited trim levels, while the standard trim became fitted with larger 16 inch wheels. This generation was also facelifted twice, once in the 2008 model year, with a newer front end, and once for 2011 with an entire redesign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2013-2018 Toyota Avalon (XX40)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fourth generation Avalon was based on the design of the Lexus ES. Much like the first two generations, the Avalon's redesign was based on the design of the Camry. It recieved a new grille, different headlight and tailight designs, and a touch screen on the interior. This generation also introduced a hybrid variant of the Avalon. For the 2015 model year, the Avalon underwent a facelight that featured a new front grille and an updated suspension system.
2019-2022 Toyota Avalon (XX50)
Tumblr media
The fifth generation Avalon was introduced at the 2018 North American International Auto Show and went on sale in May of that year. This generation also introduced the XSE trim levels, as well as having the XLE, XSE, and Limited trims offered on the hybrid version of the Avalon. In August of 2021, it was announced that this generation of the Avalon was be the last and it was to be discontinued follow the 2022 model in favor of producing the Toyota Crown crossover in its place. Though the Avalon still continues to be produced in China.

an rating of every piece of arthurian media i have consumed
Hi. So I really like Arthurian mythology. To an deeply concerning and obsessive point. This has led me to consume a lot of Arthurian media, and thus I figured I would give you this. Ratings of all the Arthurian media (up until now) that I’ve consumed.
This is going to be a doozy.
Books!
The Mabinogion. 9/10. It’s less Arthurian mythology and more proto-arthurian. But it’s welsh as shit and goes hard.
Historia Regum Britanniae. 6/10. 10/10 for iconicness. 2/10 because it’s geoffrey of fucking monmouth. This mother fucker cannot write and basically is responsible for the englishfication of arthurian mythology and eventually the frenchification of arthurian mythology. So I rightfully hate his ass.
Knight of the Cart. 6.5/10. 10/10 for iconicness. 3/10 because if I could accuse a man of cultural appropriation who’s dead and didn’t really commit cultural appropriation, I would pick Chretien de Troyes. You’re too french and too annoying and can’t even do chivalric romance well because the french are actually terrible at it. Like go read avicenna you illiterate french peasant.
The Vulgate Cycle. 5/10. It’s good. It’s iconic. It’s french.
Bulfinch’s Mythology. 4/10. It gets what the basics of arthurian mythology is, but fails to understand the actual point of Arthurian mythology and what it’s trying to do and it’s function.
The High King. 8/10. Such a good reference book on Arthurian mythology and the history behind the name and the title and how he came to be.
The Mists of Avalon. 5/10 it’s a solid retelling, and I like the arguably feminist stance it takes. I’m knocking 3 points because of quality, and 2 points because it isn’t gay, and I think the author got a little confused about what Celtic is. Like they clearly know it’s wales, but they seem to have gone for the bad folk etymology that Morgan le Fay/Morgana is somehow related to the Morrigain historically. Which she’s not. Also because the author should’ve gone full ass in on the anti-colonialist messaging. And neither of them did.
Grailquest. 3/10. It’s just… not good enough. Also for some odd reason it’s in Ancient Greece because a spell went wrong? So I think the author was just trying to make it enjoyable for youn boys.
Avalon High (the book). 4/10. It’s just not good enough.
Merlin’s Blade. 1/10. Literally the worst. Merlin is Christain and weird as shit in this. I would give it a 0/10, but I’ll give it kudos for having a blind MC. Even though he keeps talking to God about it and it sucks.
Le Morte d’Arthur. 8/10. One of the og’s. Honestly of the better cycles in the Arthurian canon. You can, and will, read worse than this one.
Legendborn Cycle. 10/10. Perfect. Should literally be added to the actual Arthurian canon. I don’t care if this is an unfinished YA book series that started coming out in 2019. Y’all are fools if you haven’t read this and I fucking laugh at for calling yourself an Arthurian Mythology fan if you haven’t. Literally laugh.
The Once and Future King. 8/10. So I love this book. That being said, this was written in the 40s by a british white man. Like… it fails me. And that’s where those two points have gone. A fun fact is that this book wasn’t published during WW2 because the author really hated war.
Magic Tree House. 6/10. Good. Could be better. I deeply appreciate that the entire series is Morgana and Merlin fighting for a fucking tardis treehouse. That alone makes this worth reading.
Idylls of the King. 0/10. Literal colonial propaganda. Fuck you Tennyson.
The Fall of Arthur. Like a 5/10. Unfinished. Not Tolkien’s better work.
The Green Knight (Tolkien Translation). 5/10. LISTEN I LOVE TOLKIEN BUT THSI ISN’T A GOOD TRANSLATION. He uses such estoric language sometimes that it shouldn’t be counted! As a fucking! Translation!
Camelot Rising. 4/10. Idc what you say and if it’s feminist. It’s not good enough for a higher rating. It also should’ve been gay and thus has been docked points
Once and Future. 4/10. I really really really wanted to love this book. It’s a queer arthurian retelling where arthur is sapphic and arabic. But it so deeply reeks of white queer people who make being queer a central part of their identity to avoid talking about queerness. On top of which, for some odd reason, the like… five thousand year old sorcerer seems to struggle with the concept of genderfluid people to me. Which makes no sense. It’s not good. It’s really bad. I’m giving it 4 stars for at least being gay and not outright offensive. It’s also a decent adaptation
Sword Stone Table. 10/10. IT’S AN DIVERSE ARTHURIAN SHORT STORY ANTHOLOGY. IF YOU DON’T LIKE ONE YOU CAN READ THE NEXT ONE. EXCEPT THEY’RE ALL EXCELLENT.
Once and Future (2019 comic). 7/10. YEAHHHH FUCK BREXIT. It’s just a good comic by my favourite comic book writer. Mr kieron gillen (not to be mistaken with karen gillan).
Gails: Quests of the Dawn. 5/10. I love Neil Gaiman but this short story collection reads like a roster of the white men of SFF. Which makes it mediocre compared to Sword Stone Table. Also OSC.
Plays + Operas + Music
Spamalot. 7/10. Not as good as the movie. Two extra points were given for Tim Curry as King Arthur. Yes. Local queer icon Tim Curry gets two points by his lonesome.
Camelot (Philippa Soo Broadway). 5/10. I love Philippa Soo. She does a really good job in this role. But she looses all the camp of the original versions.
Tristain und Isolde (Wagner). 3/10. I’m not a fan of wagner.
High Noon Over Camelot. 1/10. This is a bad retelling and I dislike the Mechanisms music. It’s also obnoxiously white.
Movies + TV Shows
Camelot (the movie). 7/10. It’s camp as fuck and there’s a song called the lusty month of may. Which is just about fucking. And i think that’s actually perfect.
Avalon High (the movie). 7/10. When I tell you that this movie rewired my brain and truly ignited my passion for Arthurian mythology? I mean it. This set me down a hole for years. Sure, is it gay? No. Is Arthur a girl in this though? Yes. And that makes it better than the book
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. 2/10. I fucking hate this movie so fucking much oh my god. I DON’T CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY IT’S NOT GOOD. THIS IS A BAD ADAPTATION.
The Green Knight. 9/10. I loved this movie! Weird as shit. But I did really love this movie. And Dev Patel is hot.
The Last Legion. 3/10. It’s a fine movie. But it’s a 3/10 as an arthurian adaptation because while I appreciate the attempt at historicity. It’s actually just bad at that.
The Sword in the Stone. 8/10. It’s less racist than the book which gets it points. It’s also not as *good* as the book.
Shrek 3. Both a 9/10 and a 2/10. Terrible Arthurian adaptation. But Shrek movies are so fun anyways.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. 9/10. Unironically one of the best Arthurian adaptations ever. It’s so funny and ads and discuss the canon in a fantastic way.
Knightriders. 8/10. It’s a Romero film, who lowkey *invented* the zombie film. But it’s also… anti-capitalist? And gay? Also trying to not be racist? (Trying. It’s the 80s. But p successful). They are also REN FAIRE ACTORS ON MOTORCYCLES.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010). 4/10. I like this movie, but it’s, say it with me, a terrible Arthurian adaptation.
Transformers: the Last Knight. 2/10. I will not speak further on this.
The Kid Who Would Be King. 6/10. Bad movie. Decent adaptation with fun characters who understand their point in this story.
Merlin. 9/10. Honestly a really good Arthurian adaptation that understands it doesn’t need to be source accurate. Also while it doesn’t commit to the gay. It’s still gay-tinged.
Camelot. 3/10. I hate the lighting and everyone in this is weirdly angsty and incestual.
Cursed. 5/10. It’s not good enough to be more. It’s just not good enough. But I do appreciate the diversity and Nimue as the MC.
Stargate SG-1. 0/10. Racism. I hate stargate because it’s just so obnoxiously racist.
The Librarians. 3/10. It’s not a great arthurian adaptation and it drops all the arthurian bits after a while. But it is a 9/10 tv show.
Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia. 6/10. Solid Arthurian adaptation. I just think it was a bit weak and put them in there to give credence to it’s magic things and system without having to justify them further to the watchers. Which makes this not really arthurian.
Fate/stay night. 8/10. I haven’t watched any of this. But Arthur is a woman who was called a man in this version because of sexism. And she’s kinda fruity. So that gives this an 8/10 in my book.
Hellboy. 4/10. I like Hellboy a lot. It’s just their Arthurian deal is just a single lone sad merlin.
Quest for Camelot. 2/10. It’s really just not worth watching.
A Kid in King Arthur’s Court. 1/10. I don’t even hate this one. It’s just so painfully mediocre it’s amazing.
Legends of Tomorrow. 7/10. It’s a really really good show and I like that it’s implied that King Arthur is Sara Lance who is just here to fuck.
TTRPGs + Video Games
Pendragon. 3/10. I appreciate it’s structure having read this entire game. It’s just… not got a great structure.
Runescape. 5/10. It’s fine. It’s just fine. It’s iconic. And it’s fine.
Sonic and the Black Knight. 1/10. Because I do actually have something against this. I hate the fact that Sonic is King Arthur and thus will be cuckooed. It causes me physical pain to think of this.
And that is literally every Arthurian adaptation I have consumed to date. I plan on reading Spear after I read this indigenous anti-colonial dragon fantasy book. I’m wary of Spear because although it’s gay, the author set it in ireland. And arthurian mythology isn’t fucking irish. Have respect and do what the rest of us do and set your arthurian adaptation on a different fucking continent.
