Written as a thank-you for a generous donor as part of the @marvelgotchaforgaza project! I had an absolute blast with the prompt. I played pretty fast and loose with it, but I hope you enjoy it!

Side note: I read probably 75% of Lunella's appearances for this, and also a thorough suffering read of the Red Goblin limited series. I also trudged through the most recent Excalibur and Captain Britain series, so never let it be said I don't do my research!

That said, Maggie is absolutely delightful and I really wanted Normie and Rascal to have a win. (:

Title: It Takes Two, or Three, or Four

Characters: Normie Osborn & Rascal (Symbiote), Lunella Lafayette, Brian Braddock/Meggan Puceanu, Maggie Braddock (age 3)

Summary: Normie Osborn, despite all the chaos in his life as of late, has found a place he feels he belongs in at Avengers Academy. He and his symbiote partner, Rascal, have also found kindred spirits in Lunella Lafayette and Devil Dinosaur. But he's new to this hero thing, and so far, it hasn't always gone well. So when Lunella offers her assistance while he takes a patrol out in the city, he accepts.

But things get a little more complicated when he comes across a couple from across the pond and witnesses their three-year-old daughter, Maggie, getting snatched up and held for ransom. Who better than Red Goblin, with a little remote help from Moon Girl, to rescue her?

Well... probably plenty of people could do it better. But Maggie doesn't seem to mind her rescuers being a little unorthodox!

It is not clear if Brian’s sour face is because of his daughter’s words or the mention of his brother. He takes long strides across the slightly marshy grass of the island. “You’re still too little to help with medical matters,” he says firmly.

“My little hands could be a boon,” Maggie says pointing her chubby little chin out.

“I meant that you’re too young and you know it. Don’t be in such a hurry to be all grown up, Maggie-Daggery-Doo.” Brian hikes up the toddler in his arms. “Besides, I don't think Monica would appreciate your help.”

Maggie looks for a moment like she may argue more but she sees Faiza Hussain walking past them and waves excitedly to her favorite superhero. “Hello Excalibur!”

Undying Avengers Issue 2: Lighthouse Siege! by Conner Thrakaboom and Gene @avengerphobic

Faiza Hussain waves back to the girl with a smile as she comes up to the Braddock Lighthouse. She has both her medical bag with her and the sword Excalibur in its disguise as a backpack.

Dane happily welcomes Faiza at the entrance to the Braddock Lighthouse. 

“Hi. You look…” Dane struggles for a word to describe how captivating she is. It is hard to look away from her as old feelings come rushing back like his heart had been stone again until this moment. He settles for a word that barely scratches the surface of how lovely she is. “Wow. Is that a new hijab?”

Faiza realizes that they haven’t seen each other in person since Dane ghosted her. They’ve started talking again since then, but only as friends. Dane wasn't on the MI13 anymore, meaning they didn’t even see each other as coworkers. She had missed him. 

“I wore it when we played cricket,” she says and resists the urge to tell him he looks healthier than the last time she saw him. Instead, she asks after her newest patient.  

She is somewhat flustered, picking at the sleeve of her floral top. It isn’t every day that she is asked to help Captain Marvel. Faiza may have always preferred the British superheroes, but Captain Marvel was always her favorite of the yanks. She had the action figures and everything

 “She’s not Captain Marvel anymore,” Dane tells her as if she isn’t still Captain Marvel to him, forever and always. “You can just call her Monica. You’re going to love her. And she’s going to love you, of course.”

Just thinking again about how Rachel's parents and friends and lover were killed and how she was given another chance with a new family and a little brother who was also taken from her. How she has a chance to know her AU grandparents and cousins only to watch them all murdered. How often she's been used and betrayed and even put aside even though all she wants is to be a part of a family.

And right when she gets to have her Summers family back, she gets the girl and reconnects with her other family in the Braddocks, only for suddenly the Fall of X to happen. Her mother is dead again, her brother is missing, her father is being tortured, she probably thinks her two best friends and her niece were massacred, and we can only hope that Meggan and Maggie were not on 616 when Xavier's orders went out.

And all of that pain was carried out by a group working with this reality's version of Nimrod.

I can't wait for Dead X-Men. I want to see Rachel out for vengeance.

Jamie Braddock’s like: Well at least I have the decency to resurrect my siblings when I murder them, instead of expecting the Five to always do it. 

Betsy: ....are you honestly expecting a gold star for what, cleaning up after yourself?

Brian: ....are you honestly surprised that that’s ABSOLUTELY what he’s thinking?

Meggan, picking up her precociously intellectual three year old daughter Maggie and heading for the door: Just FYI Brian, I WILL be reminding you of this moment the next time you ask why I make a face at the thought of visiting your siblings.

Maggie, squirming around in her arms and trying to retain her front row seat to the drama: Mother please let’s stay, I’m writing a dissertation on the correlation between mutant families and Shakespearean histrionics and this is prime research material. How do you expect me to ever one-up Valeria Richards if you keep interrupting my studies!?

Meggan: That’s not actually an aspiration I have for you, sweetheart.

Maggie: Ugh I can’t wait to complain to Luna Maximoff about this, SHE’LL get it.
