I feel like the Pandava sisters love Rudy. Like, he's their friend, he makes Mini happy. They do love him.

But they do NOT like him. On a certain level they can't stand his guts. Like, he has a strange ability to annoy them all at once. Aru can respect him as a pranking partner, but that's as far as it goes. Brynne's fight or fight response is triggered when he opens his mouth. Nikita's filled with a homicidal rage whenever she sees his outfits. Sheela just vibes with him. She finds it fun to play psychological games with him. An average conversation between the two goes somewhat like:

S: Hey, Rudy, have this perfectly normal drink that I haven't tampered with at all.

R, suspicious: Did.... you put something in this?

S: No, like I said, I haven't put laxatives in it at all. I just took it out of the fridge, poured it in the glass and I'm giving it to you.

R: ...no thanks.

He's paranoid. The drink is just a soda that, like Sheela had said, had not been tampered with at all.

Later:

M: Sheela why were you trying to poison my boyfriend???

S, to R: I WAS NOT YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE TO MY FUTURE BROTHER IN LAW

ok I think the series is HILARIOUS and it’s got me thinking about it for SOOO LONG ( I think a lot ab the series I like most, so this is a sign I loved it)

And aru’s povs make it so depressing and funny at the same time and it’s sooo obvious (to me) that she had a crush on aiden since like, FOREVER and it’s really realistic how she and the others fuck up ALL THE TIME

Idk who my fav character would be but aru is such a vibe like yes be a potato sweetie

Im glad brynne didn’t get a special someone cuz to me she doesn’t need someone because she’d say something like “I’m a whole person I don’t need my ‘other half’ “

THE PLOT TWIST ABOUT ARU’S FAMILY GOT ME SO SHOCKED??? I WAS NOT expecting aru and Kara to be sisters because of their mother???? But the whole thing was just so well thought it’s amazing

This is kinda out of context but I think there’ll be another series??? Because they didn’t EXACTLY say “oh and life went on as a potato” they said there might be new quests? And I hope if said quests happen they get to meet Kara again 🥺 i know I kinda didn’t really trust her but now she lives in my heart forever with the other potatoes 🫶🏻🫶🏻

But if said second series happens I hope it’s just that and not the author just fucking up the (awesome) character development like I felt like rr did with some of his new series (hoo for example kinda screwed up Percy’s character) and that she actually keeps the characters the way they are (or change the throughout the story, not randomly)

I’m also thinking about reading other books from roshani because I’ve seen aru shah fans saying stuff might be connected? I love that idea and I kinda want to see if it’s true

Anyway, I HOPE WE GET TO SEE MORE ARUDEN AND MORE BRYNNE (she’s my silly) AND MORE EVERYONE ESPECIALLY KARA BECAUSE SHES KINDA IN A GRAY ZONE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD AND I EAT THAT SHIT UP SOOO MUCH IN BOOKS

Mulk Raj Anand, Raja Rao and R. K. Narayan are considered the pioneers of Indian English literature - they were the first Indians to write in English.

Coming on to the book, I have only read the first ten pages of the book, so opinions haven't been formed yet. I've read in multiple reviews that further in the book, Gandhi makes an appearance. If anyone has read even 5 pages of Gandhi and his life, one would realise that he is a sexist, misogynist, casteist and a bigot, that the whole "dignity of labour" dialogue was just to passify the already marginalised people of Indian society and to keep them working. He benefited from the caste system and did all he could to uphold it. He was a supporter of manual scavenging and often deemed it as "sacred work" and "religious duty." He's stayed in Dalit colonies and has refused to eat with the community. When he was offered nuts by a Dalit boy, he fed it to the goat and said that he would eat them later in the form of the goat's milk.

A good essay to read on Gandhi is Arundhati Roy's "The Doctor and the Saint."
