oh yeah so i have a bookmark at the sacrifice scene at the end of the nectar of immortality

and as i often do the other day i pulled the book off my shelf and flipped to that scene. (one of these days, i will have it memorized, trust)

i noticed this one dialogue from brynne that really confused me

why is brynne questioning if Aiden’s going to die? of course he is, she was the first person he confided to about planning to die for aru, and it says it in the prophecy perfectly clear. why is she acting confused now??

I feel like the Pandava sisters love Rudy. Like, he's their friend, he makes Mini happy. They do love him.

But they do NOT like him. On a certain level they can't stand his guts. Like, he has a strange ability to annoy them all at once. Aru can respect him as a pranking partner, but that's as far as it goes. Brynne's fight or fight response is triggered when he opens his mouth. Nikita's filled with a homicidal rage whenever she sees his outfits. Sheela just vibes with him. She finds it fun to play psychological games with him. An average conversation between the two goes somewhat like:

S: Hey, Rudy, have this perfectly normal drink that I haven't tampered with at all.

R, suspicious: Did.... you put something in this?

S: No, like I said, I haven't put laxatives in it at all. I just took it out of the fridge, poured it in the glass and I'm giving it to you.

R: ...no thanks.

He's paranoid. The drink is just a soda that, like Sheela had said, had not been tampered with at all.

M: Sheela why were you trying to poison my boyfriend???
