honestly I'm really enjoying it just based off of the pre-release stuff, these characters look like they're going to be exactly that blend of ridiculous and emotionally constipated that hits me so right.

ive been gathering sources on loz development for a while now and i want to finish writing an essay at some point on. basically Why I Think Loz Is The Way It Is, but in the mean time i wanna drop one of my favorite articles here related to zelda development & writing, which is this WIRED interview with a staff member named Yoshiaki Koizumi, who i wish more people knew about. and it’s not like a huge revelation or anything and Koizumi isnt the only person on the team who has ever cared about the games, but i think his work & commentary on the series helps add some context a lot of people are looking for, and at some point i might compile a larger list of interesting articles to check out. but this is a good one lol

I think they like to play card games sometimes. Often they drag in others to supsrvise for cheating. (it won't stop them from cheating but it means they've gotta work harder to be sneaky about it and that just adds to the fun!) Cheated has a score-count for everybody. for every different game they play. him vs opportunist. him vs cold. the whole group playing. contrarian is often banned for bringing other card games to the table. he also never gets to supervise despite often asking to. Hero volunteers to supervise a lot but often doesn't catch the cheating so he's denied the role. Cheated, skeptic, opportunist and cold are the best. Broken is also surprisingly good sometimes. Even when he has the best hand he worries he'll screw it up somehow, and his downer attitude tends to convince the others he's gonna lose too. erm thats all i think

i just know these two have the potential to end up breaking into a fight over their silly card games. After cold left and the two eventually got tired of their games and went their separate ways opportunist stuck his leg out so cheated could trip over. they push each other down the stairs, maybe.

Wrt to the end of ur comment, i did mention this before in some ‘blink and u miss it’ tags, but Gnomes (at least in my worldbuilding for personal comics) are very small and very stout, and have a couple of animal-ish traits (furred ears and small thin tails). Theyre like the smallest humanoid forestborn creatures.

Anyway i am saying this bc the proportions they have means that someone like Peppino (short, stocky, hairy) is like PEAK masculinity to them. Peppino eventually learns this as he learns about Gnome Culture via Gus, but for now he is blissfully unaware of the effect he has on the population of this forest. As far as he knows, they are singleminded in their goal to keep him trapped in mindless chatter, much like the old ladies around his town when he goes out to do errands. So yeah, as far as other, bachelor gnomes are concerned, Peppino is a real threat 😭

Well. He would be. If not for the fact that Gus basically flaunts him around like a show dog like ‘yes look at who i have carrying me around with their huge strong arms :)’ And with Gus being PEAK masculinity for gnomekind, its more akin to having these extremely pretty and unobtainable jocks(bears) waltzing around the forest smiling politely to everyone and making gnomes either incredibly jealous or making them go 👁👁

There's no feeling stranger than knowing that something is bad but liking it anyways. Not in a 'it's so bad it's good' way. Because that implies that it has become good. I'm talking like this thing is just kinda bad in the normal ways things are bad, but i like it anyways.
