Hermes

Hermes was the ancient Greek god of trade, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry, sleep, language, thieves, and travel. One of the cleverest and most mischievous of the 12 Olympian gods, Hermes was their herald and messenger. In that position, he came to symbolise the crossing of boundaries in his role as a guide between the two realms of gods and humanity.

Hermes was known for his impish behaviour and curiosity. He invented the lyre, the alphabet, and dice. The latter explains why the god was beloved by gamblers. Hermes was the patron of shepherds and invented the panpipes they used to call their flock. To the Romans, the god was known as Mercury.

Origins & Family

Hermes has a very long history, being mentioned in the Linear B tablets of the Mycenaean civilization, at its height from the 15th to 13th century BCE. Such tablets have been discovered at Pylos, Thebes, and Knossos. With origins, then, as an Arcadian fertility god who had a special love for the Peloponnese, the ancient Greeks believed Hermes was the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia (daughter of the Titan Atlas) and that he was born on Mt. Cyllene in Arcadia. In mythology, Hermes was also the father of the pastoral god Pan and Eudoros (with Polymele), one of the leaders of the Myrmidons, although the god was not given a wife in any Greek myth. The idea that Hermes represented movement is reflected in his role as the leader of both the Nymphs and Graces (Charites).

**Spoilers** Watched the movie Arcadian, I'm obsessed with the Slappy Clappy creature. I think the whole idea of them being an animal is a really fresh premise in the horror creature realm, everything is "this ungodly creature can't be killed" or has some weird gimmick. This is just an animal that seems to be really good at killing humans, and based on the false human-like face, their main prey. And the fact that they're inspired by Goofy??? what the FUCK. This thing is an interesting mix of tons of creatures, they slappy clappy like a shoe bill, they have claws for digging, no apparent throat for swallowing bc they just throw their stomach out there to absorb whatever but still have TEETH. The teeth are like horse teeth, they have the prehensile lips.

It’s ironic how Jim thought that the only way to prevent all that had happened was to go back into time and give Toby the responsibilities and pressure of being a Trollhunter.

Jim literally was trapped in the dark lands for 2 weeks without anyone there (excluding nomura because he only found out during his last days of stay)

Jim watched his mother nearly die because he kept his duties a secret

Jim watched as Claire got corrupted from Morgana

Jim couldn’t do anything when Strickler died, knowing his mother just lost the person who cared about her as much as he did.

Jim who turned into a troll to save everyone else

Jim got no break and suffered in every episode, proving after time and time again that he truly is the only one who was able to carry the weight.

It’s selfish that he thought Toby would be a better Trollhunter than him, he turned back time only for Toby to be alive but to have to bear all the responsibilities for himself. It ruined his relationships and the overall show.

The writers of the show could’ve let Jim accept Toby’s death, rather than throwing away years of character growth.

Not only was it a sour ending, but it was depressing😭 the amount of children who will watched the show, love it and the other accompanying series and then watch the movie?! They’re going to resent the writers

They should’ve kept the original ending, despite it being so stereotypical, it was extremely pleasant to know that Jim fulfilled his destiny.

This was a little rant as I’ve currently begin to rewatch the show once again Even though i know the painful ending, i can’t help myself.
