RWRB Movie Cut Scene: The Extended Polo Scene

Alright I went from obsessively wondering about one deleted scene to obsessively wondering about another deleted scene. Namely. this time, the extended Polo scene.

To start with I do really like what we got! It was really fun and quick and horny and it worked really, really well, both in atmosphere and pacing.

I remember in an interview (forgot which one) Matthew said the polo scene was originally six minutes then with the new editing idea which is what we ended up getting, it was cut down to like two and half minutes, which means we have three and half minutes worth of a deleted scene

I'm guessing what happened was the actual polo match -> conversation and introduction to Bea -> hooking up in the tack room, with that being said:

Alex was practically drooling over watching Henry riding on horseback playing polo (the asshole (jk I love you) even posted a photo of Henry on horseback from the match on his IG close friends stories) how did they go from wanting to make out and eat each other to having a conversation in public (as seen from the montage during the speech)

What the hell were the two of them talking about????

I want the scene with Pez I wanna know what they talked about and I wanna see more friendship. Oh and is this when Pez figures it out? Since in the scene where Zahra finds them Henry says Percy knows

I also really want the scene with Bea. They're obviously close that's explicitly stated in the movie, plus Henry posted a photo of them two from that day on his IG (yes I know it's marketing but right now I'm treating them as real sue me) and I recently learned that Nick and Eliie have been friends for a couple of years by now? I really, really, want more sibling scenes. (especially as someone who relates to Henry and has a sister that I'm very close to) Also Alex and Bea like each other so I really want to know how their proper introduction and this conversation went. On top of that, Henry told Bea about Alex but Alex didn't know that until Zahra busted them and asked, did he tell her here? After all, Bea knew definitively that Henry's gay, and she pulled Nora aside during the wedding, is she wing-womaning? I WANT TO KNOW

In the book it was just Henry and Alex so it was relatively easy to get away and sneak into the tack room. In the movie apparently, they met face-to-face in public and Alex had a whole introduction to the two closest people to Henry. However the fuck did they go from that to hooking up in the tack room without suspicion?

As awesome, hilarious (I can never hear a bagpipe the same way again) and fitting as the quick cut, it was flashes between the match and the hook up. What was the original edit of the tack room supposed to be???? What does the full hook-up footage look like???? Was it longer??? Was there dialogue??? I WANT TO KNOW

I swear if Prime doesn't release the deleted scenes I'm gonna over-analyse everything in every deleted scene and drive myself to insanity in the best way possible.

I JUST HAVE SO MANY IDEAS DAMMIT in the past I've solved that issue by going, "this fic can only have x amount of chapters" and that's worked. This time I told myself only 5, and my brain just went "but no word limit right?" and now it's starting to look like each chapter is going to be 20-30k words 💀 and each one is taking me about a month to complete... High pitched ringing was all Lilith could perceive at first. Eventually, as time passed, she became aware of more things. The air smelled foul. She was laying atop something soft, but underneath the soft layer was the hardest rock she’d ever felt. As far as sounds, it seemed like there was a faint rumbling in the distance, but nothing extravagant. 

Blearily, she managed to open her eyes. 

Lilith was face to face with Lucifer who seemed to be unconscious, just as she had been moments ago. The soft layer she was on was his wing, with another one lying limp on top of her. 

She sat up slowly, groaning. Her body ached and her joints felt sore. The wings that were on top of her, slid off. 

There was something grey drifting down from the sky, and apparently, she and Lucifer had been laying there long enough that a thin layer of it had started to build up on them. Well, mostly Lucifer. Up until now, she had been safely shielded by his wings. 

Lilith gave him a nudge, “Lu, wake up,” she told him before moving to stand herself. 

The sky was a deep blood red. Any clouds that formed were either grey or black. The ground too, the harsh rocky terrain she and Lucifer were on was also a dark grey. It was now that she realized, she and Lucifer were dead center in a crater of sorts. 

That’s when the previous events all rushed back to her. Heaven attacked them and cast them down into, what was it the elders called it? Hell? Lucifer desperately shielded and protected her from the vicious onslaught and then from the impact of the fall itself. 

Now with the full context, Lilith rushed back to Lucifer who still remained on the ground, “Lu?!” Lilith pushed back the wings that were covering his body, and unveiled multiple wounds from heaven’s attack. The blood had long since dried, and Lilith realized she too was covered in Lucifer’s blood. His wings were also covered in his blood as heaven viciously skewered them to prevent him from flying back out. His once flowing robes were all but tatters barely clinging to his form.

Panic now fully setting in as she realized he looked even worse than when he had fallen from heaven and wasn’t even stirring, not even a little. She couldn’t even hear him breathe raspy breaths like he had last time.

“Lu! Say something!” Lilith immediately cradled him. 

His head immediately rolled back limply as she pulled him to her. Lilith needed to readjust her grip on him in order for his head to lean against her torso gently. 

He had protected her… From everything. But the final blow had been the fall. If what little Lilith had experienced from the fall due to his protection had been enough to temporarily knock her unconscious and make her sore then… What must it have felt like to take the full brunt of it?? 

Tears began to build up in her eyes as she recalled him assuring her that she’d be okay. He had been unable to stop the crash, so he did everything he could to make sure she was going to be safe. Suddenly, it made sense why he had repositioned himself underneath her, to cushion her fall with his own body. 

“Lu?!” she called again, “Lucifer!” 

He remained still and unresponsive. 

Lilith’s breath hitched in her throat. He couldn’t be- he wouldn’t- this couldn’t have… killed him??? 

Lilith pulled him tighter to her, choking back tears and shook with rage against heaven. Why push her and him into that crevice?? All this because he wanted to help her and Eve but that was against the rules apparently?? Weren’t they supposed to be good?! Weren’t they supposed to be kind?! And what could she have done while the elders attacked? She had been powerless to help! Worse… They used her to lure him into the hole. As Lilith held him and choked back sobs, it occurred to her that he still felt warm. 

The faintest, slightest bit of hope fluttered in her, and she pulled away to get a better look at Lucifer. He still was completely still, and unresponsive but… maybe…

Lilith leaned her ear against his chest, hoping for what seemed to be the impossible. 

Faintly. 

Very

faintly 

She could hear it. A heartbeat. Even fainter, she could hear a weak rattling breath from deep in his chest. 

He was alive…

He was still alive!

Lilith pulled him into a hug, cupping the back of his head and holding him tightly. Her tears now weren’t from grief but relief. “You’re going to be okay,” she whispered to him, “It’s going to be okay…”

1. What was their life like before becoming Arisen? Being only 12, she didn't get to live much of a life before becoming Arisen. Her parents dying as she was still a newborn, Odessa was raised by the entire village instead and would always be helping her community with little tasks - like fixing up fishing nets or transferring crates to one place to another. She always wanted to grow up to be a guardian of the village.

2. How do they handle being Arisen, and the responsibilities that come with it?

At first she seemed to be handling it alright - but that's because there was this air of importance around the role like out of a fantasy hero story. But the longer the journey went on, when she defeated Grigori and had the world descend, uncovered Bitterblack Isle and more and more of the worlds ugliest truths became real to her she. Just kind of broke. She - as a kid who can only think in the moment and not long term concesquences - ended her time as Seneschal swiftly to break free of such a cruel cycle. Starting the crack that would devolve in DD2.

Upon practically disgarding her duties as Arisen and dying - Agira ended up alive on a beach and her will persisted thousands of years later to be reincarnated in DD2.

3. What are their thoughts on Pawns in general?

She viewed them as mysterious beings at first - obviously unfamiliar with them since this was the first time she met them. Rather quickly had she started seeing them as people, friends she could hang out with and always tried to instigate some kind of fun activity.

4. What's their relationship like with their main Pawn?

That's her dad! At first she saw him as more of a mentor figure but Odessa can and will make you a part of her family and she really started to look up to Agira as her father the more she was with him.

5. What are their opinions on the politics of the world in general?

Very single track mind of 'fuck capitalism why do rich people get everything'. The Duke she didn't care about at first but later came to dislike. Yknow especially when he tried to kill her because he thought this kid wanted his throne.

6. Who are their love interest(s) and/or closest friends?

Mercedes, Rennard, Selene and Quina really became her closest friends and family - but over the course of her journey she loses all but Selene. She only really bonds with Olra by the end because when she comes back from BBI - Odessa can't look at anyone the same. Like the light has went off in her heart.

7. What drew them to their preferred vocation? Do they have history with it?

Assasin, not because she has any history with it - but because she couldn't hold big swords right and masterful kill go brrrr.

8. Do they have any hobbies? Any way of relaxing between all that monster-slaying and traveling?

Odessa's hobbies are all very physical, hiking, running, playfighting - she lives and breathes energy and activity. But sometimes she does like to just stay with her dad and relax in his lap. Especially near the end.

Vaguely Agira remembers that he failed his Arisen before being summoned by Odessa. Faintly he knows he loved that Arisen, maybe they even would've had a family as husband and wife - but time and not being bestowed a spirit has left only a giant scar on his back as a reminder of his failings and a sense of dread when this child summonded him.

2. What is their opinion on the Arisen? How do they view their relationship?

At first he tried to be distant, to not be attatched like he had managed when summoned to simply help Arisen before. But overtime he came to simply adore Odessa and dote on her like his daughter - to the point when she started calling her 'papa' he only responded with 'yes?'. He wanted nothing more than for this kid to live her best life after the mess was over.

(Ending Timeskip) Now thousands of years, and a whole new land built over the one he knew later, he still misses his daughter as she appeared the first time immensely. He got to have her again though - and be the father he always wanted to be with her. No longer tied to Arisen or Pawn.

3. Is there anything about the Arisen they find troublesome? Be it a small quirk or bad habit? (Or are they obviously flawless?)

Her self sacrificial habits. He was watching a kid leap into dangerous situations most kids would understandably run from and it was getting to concerning levels. Got much worse after BBI.

(Ending Timeskip) Yknow sometimes kids are exhausting! Lovingly of course.

4. What is their specialization and is there any story behind how they cultivated that skill set?

Forager. Originally he was going to be a Woodland Wordsmith - but arriving in Vermund for the first time from BBI he really wouldn't grasp a race's language after just learning they exist. As a forager - he knows materials and monsters well at this point and can pinpoint exactly what you need and where.

In Gransys he always viewed the Duke's lack of action addressing the nobility taking advantage of the poor to be intolerable. In Vermund and Battahl he's pleased to know the two current leadership (Nadinia and Sven) are actually working to solve issues than leave them to fester.

He had no thoughts on how pawns were treated in Gransys. Most people simply hired them for swords and mostly left them to their business. He was rather... unpleasently surprised when he was met with some spiteful glares from time to time.

6. Does their journey with the Arisen change them in any significant way and how?

Yes. So much. Went from lost man to a depressed middle aged dad who is always trying to make up for sins only known to him. For the people of Gransys wiped from an Unmooring. For the lost souls of BBI. For his first daughter. For the future of his son and daughter.

7. Is there a reason they chose their preferred vocation?

Man's a noodle. He is NOT gonna weild a sword lmfao. He has quite the mastery over powerful spells and even becomes the Sorcerer Maister of Gicel and Fulimation. He's always had significant intunement with the lightning magicks and an interest in the arts.

8. Do they have any hobbies or preferred past-times?

Nerd. Reads books, grimiores and history, finances and culture whatever. He loves reading and since this man does NOT sleep he stays up reading to get his mind off things. Tries to play with his daughter but often just gets tired.

1. What was their life like before becoming Arisen?

(Arisen) Odessa was born in Harve Village, but lost her father pretty young and mother moving them both to Vernworth. There she was raised and eventually enlisted as a guard in Vernworth. Her mother unfortunately died after complications with a sickness she contracted after trying to aid the sick.

(Ending Timeskip) Arisen's don't exist in her world anymore. She was born a few years after the cycle was shattered by her previous incarnation but her parents were unknown and already gone by the time Agira found her. She's been raised by Agira ever since in his village (name pending) and wants to become the warrior of her village when she's all grown.

2. How do they handle being Arisen, and the responsibilities that come with it?

(Arisen) Well enough. She understands her responsibilities a lot better than her previous incarnation and uses the title as the biggest excuse to help as many people as she physically can. When the time came for her to finish the job she had started - she took it in stride and vowed to free the world like the poor child had tried to.

3. What are their thoughts on Pawns in general?

(Arisen) She cares deeply for them. Each and every one is someone she can see as a unique person and hopes that they all thrive in their world. The ones she hires are always treated with the utmost respect and responsibility - ready to die for them in need be.

(Ending Timeskip) Two make up her family! And her brother is friends with so many too! They're awesome!

4. What's their relationship like with their main Pawn?

(Arisen) At first she was really just a mentor to an almost lost puppy of a pawn but - as Odessa does - he became her family as her little brother and adores him to the ends of earth. To the point where a slight against him was akin to a death sentence (she didn't actually kill anyone. in her mind though-)

(Ending Timeskip) Again, no Arisen, she's not got a main pawn. BUT the two pawns that are her father and older brother she loves so so much. She knows they're from her previous lives - and well she doesn't fully know what that means, but she does know that means they were always destined to be together and that's what matters!

5. Do they have any interest in being Sovran? What are their opinions on the politics of the world in general?

(Arisen) Not in the slightest. She would only have been Sovran as a way to exert the changes she wants. She trusts Sven and Nadinia to guide both countries to a far more better future - especially when through her they are united in a goal.

6. Who are their love interest(s) and/or closest friends?

(Arisen) God a lot of the NPCS are her friends. No love interests. She somewhat nestled into Ulrika and Lennarts family and she trusts Sven, Nadinia, Mellana, Brant etc so much. She worked hard to build up those friendships and happily died to ensure their survival.

(Ending Timeskip) Its a lil awkward when a lot of the people knew her as a grown adult that fixed their problems, but she still likes hanging around with them. As such, any friends she has would be kids that came 16 years after the cycle breaking. She does look up to Mellana and Beren the most though they're so cool.

7. What drew them to their preferred vocation? Do they have history with it?

(Arisen) Has always been one to dabble in anything and everything and the vocation that allowed her to do that is mwah. Godsend. She's strong enough to weild a greatsword but adores the speed of daggers.

(Ending Timeskip) She's not Arisen so she can't be a Warfarer! Anway, she likes when big sword go bonk so.

8. Do they have any hobbies? Any way of relaxing between all that monster-slaying and traveling?

(Arisen) Sitting and sightseeing. She loves the world of hers so much she would sometimes sit the group down to just. Watch monsters do their thing.

1. What was their life like prior to being summoned by their Arisen?

It's a blank slate to him. Wherever he got his scars from before Odessa he knows not - and not even years of being a pawn with memories and will and spirit does he recall what happened in his vague wanderings before Odessa. Maybe that's a blessing - who knows if he was mistreated or not.

2. What is their opinion on the Arisen? How do they view their relationship?

Very high, adores her more than anything in the world. At first she was just his Arisen - his first time having one - but then the feeling went from her being a mentor and guide to family. It was unfamiliar to him but being her little brother brought a joy he never wanted replaced.

(Ending Timeskip) To say he was devastated after his sisters sacrifice is an understatement. He's now got the roles reversed on him, but he's more than happy to be an older brother to Odessa. Be just as great as his sister was to him.

3. Is there anything about the Arisen they find troublesome? Be it a small quirk or bad habit? (Or are they obviously flawless?)

Sometimes she says the stupidest things and it makes him roll his eyes, he judges her heavily for her taste in women (the Sphinx? Odessa please). He gets more upset when they get closer to the Dragon Confrontation because he didn't like the he knew she was hiding something but he didn't know what.

(Ending Timeskip) He loves her dearly but sometimes. Sometimes kids are irratating. Especially when your little sister likes leaping off cliffs for fun-

4. What is their specialization and is there any story behind how they cultivated that skill set?

Logistian. He starts to like fiddling around with items and seeing if he can make something new with them. Less leading him to be a logistian and more it leading him to be more hands on with things.

5. Do they have any thoughts on the politics of the world and their place in it as a Pawn - or how Pawns are treated?

He always felt some shame walking around the world knowing how pawns are treated. It's hard not to feel bad when glares are at your direction for things out of your control. It made him dislike how the leadership refused to do anything on it for convenience sake.

(Ending Timeskip) He works very closely with Sven and Nadinia and the Elves and is pleased with the positive changes they've all been working on. He can only hope that the next generation of leaders will still listen to his advice to keep the positive changes going.

6. Does their journey with the Arisen change them in any significant way and how?

He goes from a very survival oriented pawn to a healer willing to get hurt if it meant the person he was protecting got away without injury. Fe'gahl grows a lot of confidence through Odessa and leaves a lot of his more following pawn nature behind to be more independant with his choices.

7. Is there a reason they chose their preferred vocation?

He's a healer at heart forever and always. Helping people is one of the things that fills him with the greatest sense of purpose and joy.

8. Do they have any hobbies or preferred past-times?

Monster and world watching with Odessa. It helped him come to silently observe and learn the world around him as an active participant than just a pawn.

(Ending Timeskip) Comes to like crafting and putting together things - often making weird lil knick knacks when he has the time even if they're not very good.

Well, I commissioned a jacket in February of 2022 and it is currently August 11, 2023.

I never received my commission

From February up to about May, I held a somewhat steady communication with Ahytana, checking in every 2 weeks to a month for updates which she responded to. At first it was family problems, then needing time to send it to FedEx, then problems with FedEx that apparently the jacket got lost, then she was remaking it and right when she claimed she just needed to send out the new one—

All communication stopped. She wouldn't answer emails, or texts (which she originally welcomed if I couldn't get a hold of her), i even requested a refund on Venmo which went ignored, and I never got a final update or told whether the jacket was on its way. I managed to get her on Whatsapp only for her to promise a tracking number that never came and ghosted once again.

In that time, she has posted on her Instagram stories and even opened and closed new batches of commissions:

I already tried contacting Venmo they basically said I'm fucked. So if you've seen her on Tiktok or are considering commissioning her— DONT. I've seen some people do get their commissions, but I never did and she claimed it was a batch of about 3 or 4 jackets that got lost.

If you've commissioned her and got scammed too, reach out to me. I'm hoping Venmo would listen if I have a list of people it happened to.

TL;DR: don't commission Ahytana because it is likely you'll patiently wait a year and a half and still never receive what you commissioned.

I commissioned after I saw that some people received theirs on tiktok and her IG, so I had faith I'd get my commission too. Maybe I'm the idiot here, but I figured I'd try to stop it from happening to someone else.

Thank you for spelling out your character development, Aubrey! You really needed to because you didn't actually have it in the first place, but the game needs to pretend as if you did!

"I felt like everyone abandoned me... and abandoned MARI too..."

I'd like to note the way Aubrey phrases this line. Mari is tacked on at the end of the sentence as if she's an afterthought.

Considering how self-centered Aubrey has shown herself to be over the course of the game, it reads more as "Everyone abandoned me, goddammit! oh and there's that dead girl too ig"

It's very subtle and intricate writing when your characters rant about their foibles to the audience as if they're standing in a confessional.

"After SUNNY stopped coming to school..."

Which he did on a whim, apparently. Nowhere in the game is it stated or implied he was homeschooled or granted some special exemption.

Also... the writer... totally... isn't... overusing... ellipses...

"I just wanted to go through the photos, because... well... I guess I just wanted to see everyone happy again."

It always circles back to Aubrey and what she wants. It didn't occur to her to leave Basil's things alone since going through the album might bring up some painful memories for him. No, all that mattered is that she wanted to "see everyone happy again," even if that makes those same people miserable now.

Aubrey is an asshole.

"All of our memories together..."

Because the giant "BASIL'S MEMORIES" on the album's cover wasn't convincing enough for her, apparently.

I have already touched on this in other posts, but for the purposes of this one, I have to reiterate.

1) Aubrey's immediate reaction to a perceived slight was to basically disown her close friend of God knows how many years (even though she had no reason to blame him, nor did she let him explain himself) and make a conscious choice to start harassing him. Because that's what strong friendship is, isn't it?

2) She conveniently doesn't specify other "things like that" she called Basil, which implies she might have called him something way worse than "creep"

As you should.

You won't get to do anything about that, though, because the story is going to shift its focus to Sunny in a few minutes anyway.

And now she's turned on the waterworks because the game's running short on time allotted to her "character arc", so we need to pity her as fast as possible.

I find it funny how the fact Aubrey nearly killed Basil back at their old hangout spot the day prior is not directly brought up or addressed by her at any point of her rant. Her sudden breakdown would have made more sense if it came after her admitting how guilty she actually feels about the accident because she crossed a line or something like that. Nothing of the sort happens, and all we ever get is a vague "What I've been doing is worse than what BASIL did"

ALSO IM SORRY IF THIS IS SO DISORGANIZED gonna be honest i forgot a good half of what i wanted to talk about. But Anyways. please note that all of this is entirely My opinion you ofc dont need to agree and despite everything i actually really love and enjoy the kirby novels a lot !!

so okay after hearing her talk about the reason we're likely not getting a magolor epilogue novel and knowing takase's erm.... Infamous reputation regarding how she handles magolor's character that had me thinking a lot and. Wow i'm kind of Really nervous for how this magoland novel will turn out actually because a lot is kind of at stake here when you think about it

takase will either be forced to actually develop magolor's character, or she will just completely scrap everything that happened earlier, remove any mentions of the epilogue and go straight back to square 1 where magolor is -- once again -- the villain of the story. Don't get me wrong i like evil magolor a lot lol i think if done right it can be a very enjoyable portrayal of his character. but there's only So many times you can make a character the antagonist before it just gets straight up exhausting y'know

i think it's ESPECIALLY different in terms of magoland. This might be a cold take idk lmao but merry magoland isn't just some wacky little theme park magolor created out of the blue for no reason. It's something that signifies and sets in stone how he's a changed character. Merry magoland is magolor's dream he's had for a really long time by his own words and truly shows that all he's wanted to do is make people have fun and be happy. if you make him the antagonist in that, that completely just fucks up Everything relating to his character and renders that entire development null and also invalidates all the hardships he's gone through to make that happen

i do think takase's portrayal of magolor is fun! i do enjoy it and i do appreciate how he has a hard time communicating his desires and showing true friendship. i think that's important. one of magolor's most significant flaws is how he has a hard time understanding how friendship is supposed to work and what to do when you have friends. but maybe instead of making him the villain. Over and over and over again you could idk... have him Learn?? and actually Develop from his issues??? i know waddle dee is a completely separate character but for the sake of comparing to another person who has gone through a huge amount of development in the novels -- why can't magolor do the same? why is it constantly so insistent that he be the one causing all the problems for no reason other than haha it's funny (in most cases at least. i know dreamy gear was different and i will give it a giant shoutout for that)

i'm so sorry if i sound too harsh here i literally don't know how to word it otherwise lol i think it's important to emphasize that despite everything i do like seeing magolor's character in the novels. but it just gets to a point where it's Grating to me at times and depending on the scenario is just completely inaccurate. that's why i think magoland is such a huge point for us here with a lot on the line -- if she chooses to not make magolor the antagonist and make it accurate to the game's actions and desires, that will be an essential key for his development and showcase that we're actually making progress with his character. but if she chooses to make him the antagonist again, the potential for him being something more than a villain -- which is RIGHT there -- is completely wiped

afaik magolor and kirby's friendship was also mentioned and i just want to throw out there. merry magoland happened because of kirby. merry magoland happened because of magolor's friends. kirby, meta knight, dedede and bandee are the reason merry magoland exists. so if takase chooses to not acknowledge any mention of that and make magolor go against them all, that also erases the potential of magolor's relationship with other characters as well yknow... the characters he's gone against for this whole time? it also makes no sense whatsoever??

so yeah this is a bit long but there's just a lot to either look forward to or dread about this novel -- or even both lmao -- the more i thought about it. i want to have a decent amount of hope that i could be wrong here, maybe takase will take advantage of what she has to work with game wise and create something truly special. but throughout all of magolor's appearances in the novels... *hand on mirror* it seems like all of his character is constantly scrapped in favor of treating him like some apathetic irredeemable character with no regard for others or understanding friendship. so that's kind of a hard pill to swallow

1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2023? moby dick! i totally did not expect to like this dusty tome so much but it was just too perfect a mix of tropy revenge tale, sea adventure mockumentary, and making stuff up and putting it into categories that caused pleasant vibrations in my neurodivergent brain. i have watched so many whale documentaries after reading this, you guys have no idea🐳

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2023? flamefall is the second book in the aurelian cycle and it’s the best sequel i’ve read so far this year. the addition of a slow burn mm master/servant story line improved things considerably, not to mention that it was my favorite character’s time to shine. this series is sooo good, please read it guys you won’t regret it i swear🙏

(ngl i’m a bit annoyed that fourth wing, this fireborne sjm-ified, is doing numbers out there and meanwhile there’s no fandom for the aurelian cycle to speak of😒)

also i simply have to mention defekt, book two of litenverse. i found the first book quite boring despite it’s shortness but the sequel has a sad lil guy🥺. highly recommend for fans of black mirror, severance or the murderbot diaries. you don’t reeeally need to read book one btw, i think you can just read the description and then jump straight to the good stuff

Biggest Disappointment? ig it’s the warrior’s apprentice😬 many people recced the vorkosigan saga to me as “the lymond chronicles in space” but based just on this first(-ish) book i have to say miles is uhhh,, not lymond😐 lymond’s key traits are that he’s queer and a cunt and baby miles is simply not that (yet). of all the other books that people mentioned on my overcompetent scheming bastard post this was the last one i hadn’t read so i was a bit disappointed that it didn’t pull me in like the lymond chronicles. however, of all the books mentioned there it’s also the only series i can see myself continuing any time soon so. it wasn’t all too bad ig🤷‍♀️

i was also somewhat disappointed by assassin’s apprentice but i will make myself push through the realm of the elderlings just bc i’m so intrigued by the fool👀

6. Biggest Surprise? apart from the life changing experience that was moby dick i gotta admit i didn’t expect to like the goblin emperor, what with it being one of those cozy hopepunk fantasies where people are nice and decent to each other🙄 but it really did grow on me by the end, it indeed made me feel cozy and soothed. now i wanna try katherine addison’s older darker stuff that was apparently so controversial she had to change her pen name or smth👀🤭  

7. Favorite New Author? so i read another book by christopher rice and can confirm that he’s now one of my favorite authors. the man’s early 2000s gay thrillers are very melodramatic and refreshingly juicy - you can really tell they were published in ye olden pre-twitter times

Newest Favorite Character? cyrano savinien hercule de bergerac. after just reading that first act where he monologues about his nose for three pages straight and then spends all the money he has to hijack a theater and cause a scene by duelling a guy on stage while insulting him in ballad form i thought wow but this is one of my sexy fucked up guys who like to swish their swords and run their mouths! please enter the mind rotation chamber, monsieur🙌

Book That Made You Cry? furysong made me cry my eyes out like every ending to a ya series should. have i mentioned you should read the aurelian cycle btw? but also both moby dick and cyrano de bergerac made me laugh AND cry as only really good books do. there’s a part in moby dick about seeing whales in mountains and stars that made me remember i am a human being and was a small and happy human being once - like that scene in ratatouille when anton ego tastes ratatouille and the nostalgic memories hit him and he becomes not evil anymore. that was nice but i cried like a little bitch😭

She could've flown to California from NYC and stayed with Doria for the rest of her pregnancy. They could actually do that, making statement that due to undue stress in UK, the Duchess chose to stay with her mom. Or Harry could've called Doria and have her flown to UK and stayed with Meghan much earlier than just 2-3 weeks before giving birth.

Yup 100%. I’ve never truly believed that story for those exact reasons.

She was pregnant. She was under a doctors care very frequently. At minimum 1x/month & the later you get in a pregnancy the more frequently you’re seen. So even at a NORMAL appointment she could have said something. But certainly she also could have just called her OBGYN and made an appointment and asked for a referral to a therapist. Or just said she was going to an OBGYN appt & really went to therapy if she was concerned about people finding out.

And honesty … honestly now … do we believe the “I asked for help and no one would” drama? Because what do you think the palace wants? A Duchess in therapy or dead Duchess? Of course if she told someone “I need help and I need it now” they would have helped her. She went to the HR department (🙄) & they were probably like “I’m sorry I can’t help you” but she apparently didn’t as anyone in her actual office, including her personal assistant or private secretary, her security team, HER HUSBAND WHO STARTED A MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY, her sister in law WHO ALSO STARTED A MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY…

But you know what she DID do? When she was “trapped” at the palace, unable to see friends or even run errands (ignore the fact she took an international flight to a party and her makeup artist friend visited her around this time & posted about it on her IG)

Some random Turkish IG model posted a pic of herself wearing an identical Ugly Pink And Orange Travel Hoodie™ at a R+ gig and claimed he gave it to her and that he had pointed at her from the stage (she was back near the mixing boards, not FZ, homeboy’s eyes are NOT that fucking good, sweetie), and that he claimed to have a crush on her. It got picked up by a few Turkish tabloids at the time. She also apparently had some sort of contact with That Irish Girl and it appeared she was trying to set him up for his own MeToo scandal. Richard has since worn that hoodie with increasing frequency to demonstrate that nope, it’s still in his possession, and we LIVE for the shade in this house.

ok two things.

not that i need to clarify and not that anyone needs to know more detail but. to clarify from my post last night: my brother did nothing wrong by showing his music to me AT ALL. but there are two things that are hard about it and i hate to say it but the bigger one is… he has the same spark i used to have and feel like ive lost forever snd him making unfathomably beautiful music makes me… jealous. or at the very least mournful about what happened to my own musical / poetic pursuits and skills and how i feel like i will never be able to do anything like that again bc ive lost myself and feel detached from my life and am frozen like a dear in headlights. and the second thing is he’s in a lot of pain rn with his own situation and we don’t communicate abt it except in ways that are extremely like.. strained and sheepish and i feel like a bad big sister for not being more affectionate and like trying to force through the barrier and be lovey dovey with him basically bc i think he needs / wants that even though we’re both weird about it. lol
