Animatic 4 - Echoes

Final work

Finally the work on this animation is done. To say the least it probably was the most challenging out of all the previous animations that I made

I am not even sure if this still can count as just animatic since if I work a bit more on it, it will become the full animation it supposed to be. Maybe this is perceived like that because of colored backgrounds which I never did before for any of my animations. However, it is a fact that if I add some more poses for the character and ad shades, thr whole animatic will become an animation

If I would talk about best things in this animation I would probably say that it is the concept. The idea that I show in the animation can be understood very well. Another thing that is great are the backgrounds, I really like how they look and they definitely make the aesthetic of the animation ten times better.

However, where is good there is bad. In this animation that would be the transitions into echoes of the past theme. I still couldn’t figure out how to do that properly so I left it as it is. Probably because of this inconvenience this animatic wouldn’t become the animation in the future, since I still don’t know how exactly to do that

(Yeah this does mean mason fails to flirt with him Paul, half because he knows he's a cryptid ithink. Paul probably turns into a blue minotaur maybe. As for Darlene, she's probably just a super frequent ad mascot)

Waddles // The axolotl

(the axolotl is called wades! Bc of this change, at the end of the summer Mason doesn't get his memories back immediately- it takes a few months)

Zombies // Gnomes

(I thought flipping the premise of the first episode would be fun, plus, tiny sentient zombies and tall garden gnome like cryptids that kinda stand there sound COOL)

Animatic 4 - Echoes

Almost half way done

Me pushing my limits was a very foolish decision. I couldn’t even make the animatic half way before this post. I only have 12 seconds so we can count it as a 1/3 of animatic.

Although I did a first test with the echoes of the past theme. However, if I wish to develop the animation further I would have to think of a better way to make the transition from present to the past. And I mean better because this is it just CapCut preset to animate videos. As a concept it worked like I wanted it to, however as an animation practice it was very bad

There are like 3-4 more echoes of the past so I will have to figure it our if for the future if the animatic will ever have the chance to become a full animation later for second part of the project

I've been torn on how to do Loop's body for the entirety of lining, also

A bit sad the main lines are visible only as a wip, most of this thing is literally just a ton of sharp lines

I think it's also my first day of drawing, Loop is just a sketch here (feat. my leg)

I even finished the beans before it so they were a moral support, because if you let me things like this take a year

Am I late to this trend? Yes. Did I reuse an old frame? Yes. Also, this post is not an excuse for Kalim hate. It’s just so interesting to me how Kalim never realized how much he hurt Jamil. Its also interesting how the roles can be just as easily switched, with Jamil being the one hurting Kalim. It was difficult to choose who would take which role in this animatic, but I eventually decided on this, since Kalim burns away at Jamil, he keeps him away from what Jamil himself wants. In the end Jamil is just a commodity for Kalim, an accessory. Now of course Kalim doesn’t see Jamil that way, but Jamil does feel that way, and he hates it. Jamil has to be perfect for Kalim, but he can’t be better than him. Kalim burns away at him and uses him as a fuel. Jamil has to fix Kalim’s many mistakes. He can’t fly away, because he’s stuck with Kalim.

I love the Scarabia duo so much, and they have so much to think about and so much depth and complexity. Every day I worry that I misunderstood something or mischaracterize them, which makes me very anxious, but I always at least try to make my observations and animatics as accurate as possible, and when I do get something wrong I like to see it as a learning moment!
