Travel

Daphne was excited to finally go somewhere new. She traveled often outside of the country, visiting six out of the seven continents many times, (Antarctica was just too cold for her) going to life changing places like Nigeria and Brazil, along with the iconic fashion weeks in Italy and France, but she never really traveled within the USA. She had never traveled out of New York City for more than 3 hours while staying in the US. Now she was going across the country to the sunny San Diego. Her friend Nori, someone she met at the beach with the Varmitechs, invited her out to stay with her family for a week, because her mom is going on another business trip in Las Vegas, a couple hours away from San Diego. The plan was for Daphne and her mom to take the jet to Las Vegas, and Daphne would take a short flight to San Diego from there. Daphne zipped up her two huge suitcases and got ready to get on the jet, to take off for the gorgeous California. 

Daphne was super excited to see her friend again and meet her family. Nori and Daphne talked often over video calls and texts, and whenever Nori was in New York, but Daphne didn’t see her as often as she would like, and had never met any of Nori’s other family. Daphne wondered if they were as effortlessly cool as Nori was. Nori was a photographer and skateboarder, both things Daphne was awful at, and was incredibly close with her whole family, even her aunts and uncles. She was older than Daphne was and had an air of maturity that Daphne had not been able to replicate, no matter how hard she tried. Daphne had heard so so much about Nori’s family and all of their talents and was excited to finally put faces to the names that she had been hearing since the beginning of the friendship. 

After getting out of Andrea and Nori’s car, who had picked her up at the airport, Daphne took a long look at Nori’s house. It was gorgeous and so chic, Daphne loved it. As Daphne walked through the door, she was instantly met with chaos. Nori gave a quick introduction of everyone after seeing Daphne’s shocked face and introduced them to her. Jett, Nori’s twin brother, was sitting on their kitchen counter eating an orange, while Layla, Jon, and Tim, Nori’s younger sister, uncle and dad, respectively, danced around the kitchen while a Switchfoot album played. Two more of Nori’s uncles were playing a very heated game of Uno together. Daphne’s mind was reeling from all of the chaos. She was not used to more than three people in her house in general at a given time, let alone, one room. Andrea, after seeing Daphne’s face, laughed and assured Daphne that the Foreman household is always crazy, to which the group whooped and Nori smiled at. Daphne managed a smile and tried to relax, knowing she was going to have fun here.

Doing a little late night crafting. Showing off my week's worth of evening knitting - 1x section and 1x transition down, with much more to go.

Working on a Andrea Mowry's 'Big Cozy Cardi' https://ravel.me/big-cozy-cardi, utilizing the first set of yarn I ever purchased - I've been saving it for my first 'big' self-project!

I had stumbled upon www.ahundredravens.com while looking at Halloween advent options years back, and fell hook line and sinker for this lovely gradient 5x skein set that goes from an muted green to a middling blue-grey that holds so much luster that it shines not unlike silver. For my fellow fiber-crafters - it's a wonderfully soft fingering weight made from 55% BFL (Blueface Leicester) and 44% Silk. It's a dream to work with, very soft, supple and stretchy, and not nearly as 'slick' as I was worried it might be with that higher silk content!

The name didn't help in matters of impulsivity - 'Rivendell'. THOUGH if it had been me selecting a LOTR name for this colorway I'd have gone with 'Lorien' due to the gradient's silvery undertones and soft greens reminding me more of the descriptions/depictions of the Mallorn trees. Their current dye batch photos look much more in alignment with the namesake 'Rivendell' - more saturated brassy-greens into a muted cornflower blue. NGL I'm glad I have this older variant for my own personal preferences!

For the front/collar portion which is done after the body of the cardigan and in a different weight - I ended up selecting Miss Babs https://www.missbabs.com/ lace weight line 'Moonglow' which is a 72% Kid Mohair, and 28% Silk, in the colorway 'Nori'. The dark muted green I feel pairs quite well - helping to bring more of the green out from one end of the gradient set and lets the silvery hue really shine bright on the other end.

It'll be 5 skeins split across 30" of knitting. I was an adult and actually swatched my gauge for this one! :P Also worked out that it'll be 48 rows of the 323 stitches per skein, plus 6x rows for each transition between colors. So it'll be a longer haul of a project for sure! But when the migraines hit and I can't really handle the desk light for traditional art or my tablet glaring up at me, it makes for a good respite.

(Warnings: There’s going to be hints at a topic of SA, that’s the biggest warning I think)

A/N: SA, as I’m sure many of you know what that stands for, comes in many forms, unfortunately. I might use a few cringy words but I want to draw attention to this so bear with me; SA is not just penetration. It is any sexually physical interaction that you are not willing to participate in. It can be someone groping you (which is also sexual harassment, not that that is any better than SA, of course), or it can be someone touching you in a way that alludes to anything sexual that you don’t want and have said no to, such as someone touching your thigh, backside, chest, etc. and they don’t stop when you say no or try to push them away, and it is never okay. If you have experienced anything uncomfortable, it doesn’t matter if you think you’re overreacting or people won’t believe you. If you are uncomfortable, DO NOT STAY QUIET. I understand, personally, that it can feel like maybe things aren’t as bad as they could be, that it could get worse if you tell someone, but I can assure you, from personal experience, that it won’t get better either if you don’t speak up. Have courage and faith in yourself. Find your strength and be your own hero, all of you deserve happiness and comfort. If someone makes you uncomfortable, tell someone, maybe they’re not aware that they’re making you uncomfortable, or maybe they’re aware and in that case, telling someone is the best thing you can do for yourself because it means that they don’t care for your comfort if they know they’re making you uncomfortable and always remember that consent can be taken back AT ANY TIME!! You can always say no, even if you at first said yes. Always take care of yourself first. It’s your comfort first, then other’s. Speak up because if they’re doing it to you, you may not be the only one. If you’re not going to do it for yourself, then do it for someone else. Help them and yourself at the same time. If your comfort doesn’t matter to you, then focus on other people’s comfort if that’s what it takes for you to be brave. That’s what made me step forward after it had happened to me, the only thing I regret is how long it took me to do so. I love you all and please take care of yourselves, you deserve all the love in the world!<3

She was quiet as she sat on the ground outside. It was night, Maggie and the others were grilling but Daisy had sneaked off, she wasn’t sure if they had noticed or not, not that she particularly cared, all she could focus on was the two graves in front of her, the small dirt mounds. All those names, she didn’t even know everyone’s full name, especially not from back at the prison, ‘Mrs.’ or ‘Mr.’ was all she had to go by, or someone’s mom or dad, but she never forgot them.

“Daisy…?” she looked up from the graves, squinting through the darkness to see Enid walk over, a plate in her hand as she dared to inch closer, sitting down on the ground next to her, putting the plate between the two and Daisy picked up the meat, hesitantly biting into it, only to stare at it with a frown. “What? Y-You don’t like it? Maggie said that-”

“It’s rabbit” she mumbled, Enid frowning at her through the darkness “you-... you can taste that?”

“It’s the first thing I ever caught that Maggie tasted” Daisy admitted, giving Enid a soft yet forced smile before looking back at Glenn’s grave, Enid studying her before looking down “do you love Carl?”

“Do you?”

“No. I mean, not in that way…” she admitted, Daisy nodding ever so slightly, keeping her eyes on the grave “I do” Daisy answered Enid’s original question, Enid giving her a soft smile “I tried to stop him…”

“I know, thank you” Daisy mumbled with a faint smile, sighing softly as she put the meat back on the plate, her smile fading as she thought of the Saviors… David… and the doctor…

“What is it?”

“Hm? Oh, nothing-”

“You don’t have to do that, you know… not with me… I-I mean, if you want, you don’t have to but… you know?” she assured softly, Daisy turning to look at her in the darkness, studying her before looking down. “I’ve never really-... my momma was high more often than she was sober… my daddy didn’t care about me… I didn’t really go to school… I-... w-what I’m trying to say is that I-... I’m not used to talking to someone… I can talk about things but I can’t really talk about things…” she admitted, Enid giving a brief scoff of amusement ���me neither… maybe that’s why we could talk about things?”

“Maybe…” Daisy stated with a faint smile, looking down before looking back at the grave, her brows furrowing, tears forming in her eyes and Enid noted how she pulled her knees to her chest, as though trying to shield herself, cut herself off, block any access to her body. “Back there… where I was… it was-.... I hate all of them, Enid… I hate all of them” she muttered with spite, her body shaking with anger “but I hated those two the most” she added in a quiet tone and Enid frowned, making Daisy sigh softly. “There-... there was a doctor back at-... t-they call it the ‘Sanctuary’…” Daisy muttered, Enid staying silent as she watched Daisy, how uneasy she seemed “he-... I-I’m immune, Enid” Daisy admitted, Enid nodding with a soft smile “I know, and I don’t care. I mean, of course I care. I just-”

“No, I know what you mean. Thank you” Daisy stated quietly before sighing “this doctor, he, understandably, wanted to-... see how far my immunity goes… he convinced Negan that I should be-... scratched… I have two other scratches but-... he said it should be on my thigh… he decided where… so-... every time he wanted to see how it was healing, I had to-” Daisy cut herself off, jaw clenched in anger and disgust, tears in her eyes “he’d-... touch my thighs… massage them… he’d tell me how ‘good’ I was being. How ‘well’ I was healing… how ‘special’ I was…” Daisy muttered with disgust, shaking her head to try and make the nauseous feeling go away. “He’d take my blood almost every other day… he’d poke me with a needle and he’d smile that disgusting smile whenever he saw me cry. Afterwards… he’d give me a lollipop and stroke my hair and-” she pressed her lips tightly together, tears running down her cheeks, her fingers digging into her arms, creating crescent shaped marks that almost drew blood, her body shaking by now as she tried to play it off as anger when in truth it was fear. “I can still hear his voice, both of them… feel that doctor’s hands on my thighs… feel David’s hand on my shoulder and in my hair…” Daisy muttered with disgust, flinching when a hand was on her shoulder but she quickly relaxed when Enid pulled her into a hug, Daisy slowly letting herself hug Enid back and once she did, she began to openly sob, burying her face in Enid’s embrace. “It’s okay…”

“I keep hearing his voice… I feel his hands and every time I look at Maggie I see Glenn and when I look at Sasha I see Abraham and then I hear his damn voice again, over and over and over and- D-David he’d-... t-touch me… he’d sniff my hair when I walked by, he’d-... touch my shoulders… he’d lean in really close and whisper in my ear and he’d touch my shoulder and down my arms and my hair a-a-a-and-”

“He’s not here. I promise” Enid whispered, Daisy nodding into her embrace, continuing to sob, both of them unaware of Maggie that had walked over to ask if everything was alright and if they needed something, tears in her eyes as she watched them, a sick feeling taking over and she knew it wasn’t from the baby she was carrying, this wasn’t that kind of sickness, it was a disgusted feeling of pure anger and rage and an urge for revenge.

Yeah…

Revenger definitely sounded quite good right about now.

“Nah, see, gotta get that one first, okay? That one right there” Daryl pointing to a tiny cog inside of the gears of her compound bow, Daisy scoffing “who the hell makes something that small?!”

“Language” Daryl scolded softly, Daisy scoffing with a smirk, shaking her head as she continued to try and map her new bow out in her head, if ever she needed to put one back together… or sabotage one if the Saviors used one…

Her focus shifted as there was an alarm being rung, the Saviors coming closer and Daisy’s eyes widened as she looked at her uncle who grabbed her hand as Enid ran over “where’s Maggie?”

“Come on” Enid hurried, Daisy quickly packing everything that could be seen as hers before following after her uncle and Enid, the three of them finding Maggie, Enid guiding them around a corner just as the cars drove in through the open gates, Daisy feeling her heart race as she hurried down the steps and into the pantry, Daisy being the last one to enter “Enid-”

“I’m okay” she assured, Daisy nodding before hurrying down the steps so Enid could close the shutter doors, Daisy making sure that Maggie was backed up and deep into hiding, Daisy hiding her bow and arrows before getting out her knife, looking at her uncle in the darkness before looking back at Maggie, her eyes moving through the darkness to where she knew Maggie’s stomach was, Maggie quickly cupping her cheek “we’re all fine” she whispered and Daisy nodded, letting out a shaky breath before composing herself. “Uncle Daryl!” Daisy whispered harshly when Maggie didn’t seem to get his attention, his head turning to look at them and she waved him over, finally convincing him to slink back into the darkness with them to hide.

Her heart was in her throat as she watched the door open and the man enter, picking up a bucket and placing it by the doors before looking around, her grip on her knife firm, her palms sweaty as she had her mouth open a little bit on purpose so it made less sound when she breathed, taking light, even breaths through her mouth, her throat felt dry and her lips felt chapped as she stayed behind the shelf with Maggie behind her and her uncle in front of her. Until she saw that the man was carrying Enid’s knife.

The second she saw that knife on the man’s belt, she felt like her lungs couldn’t get enough air in them. Not another person. No one else. She couldn’t lose someone else. Without even realizing it, she slowly advanced once the man had his back turned, unaware that her uncle was doing the same thing, but Maggie had to wrap an arm around each of them to stop them, and it worked, the man leaving the room after taking what he wanted, the door closing and the second she heard the outside shutter doors close, she let out a shaky breath, shaking her head as she clutched her knife even tighter “that was Enid’s knife…”

“Daisy-”

“It’s Enid’s knife, it doesn’t belong to him” Daisy muttered sharply, moving out from hiding to check the door with her uncle, Maggie’s voice distant and muffled as all Daisy could think about was why he had that knife. Why did he have Enid’s knife? She was so busy staring out a hole in the door, keeping watch, that she hadn’t noticed that her uncle was crying, she only noticed when she saw Maggie hug him out of the corner of her eyes. She turned to look at them, Maggie looking at her with sad eyes, reaching out a hand as she hugged Daryl and Daisy watched that hand before looking back out the hole in the door, hesitating before sighing softly, grabbing Maggie’s hand that was still outstretched and Maggie pulled her into a tight hug just as she parted from Daryl, Maggie was about to stroke her hair when she remembered yesterday night… what she heard… and instead she just hugged her.

• I honestly can’t see this woman being straight. So fuck it. She is pansexual now.

• I was thinking of HC her as neurodivergent! But not sure rn.

• Nori was named that way by herself because after she found out about sushi’s existence,and after finding out the algae used in sushi is called “Nori”, she later named herself after that bc she thought the word sounded cute.

• If robots could eat human food,she would definitely try all kinds of sushi or just the algae for curiosity.

• We canonically don’t know if Nori was a WD that had parents or was a WD who gained sentience. But personally I like to think she was one of the many WDs who gained sentience.

• She actually gained sentience when she was slightly younger and moments after the extinction of humanity.

• She was around her early 30s when she passed away.

• Honestly I can only see Nori’s and Khan’s relationship being so fucking wholesome,they were lovebirds your honor. Ofc before shit hit the fan.

• She used to spend time with the WDF and join in their card games!

• Nori was incredibly good at card/board games. She always somehow won when playing card games with the WDF. The WDF still let her join bc it was fun. (And bc she was their leader’s wife)

•The way of how imagine Nori’s voice is sort of a smooth and soft voice. Slightly monotone and a bit high pitch. Like her voice immediately gives “shy soft woman who also happens to be a mother” vibes.

Her voice does shift a bit when she gets really excited! (Or any strong emotion) Completely loosing her monotony and smoothness a bit.

The best voice claim I can think for rn her is actually Candace from Genshin Impact, just make her voice a bit high pitched.

Also fun fact! Candaces english VA (Shara Kirby) is the same VA of Serial Designation-J!

Another Voice claim i can come up is Andrea Storm Kaden!

She is a singer who performed in a lot of fan songs of video-games. (tattletail,FNAF,BATIM, Overwatch,etc. She did a lot of collabs with JT Music and I think a few with TryHardNinja.)

• She is actually shorter than the average WDs,but just by a few inches. She isn’t an ant like Uzi.

• Her hair is much more longer and a few shades lighter than Uzi’s.

• Her eyes are also much saturated compared to her daughter’s eyes color.

•She also has cute lil chompers! Tho they dont look the same as the DDs. They are smaller and shorter,Uzi inherited that trait from her.

• Uzi’s necklace actually belonged to Nori.

• When Nori got her hands on this necklace and started wearing it,she never took it off.

• She definitely strikes me as someone who is into cottage-gore.

• She is a goth mom,thats it. Like and old-school goth mom. (Like she is more into the “feminine” part of goth,if I can explain myself)

• She constantly wore black dresses. The one she wore the most was a simple off shoulder black dress with short sleeves and frills on it. It was made from a very thin and light material. And it had a purple flower pattern on it.

• She wore this dress while wearing black combat boots (Like most WDs) and her necklace.

• She had a pair of black combat boots but this time her boots lace was a purple color.

• She also had a WDs jacket! And occasionally wore it. It was purple.

• One of her many hobbies was painting. She didn’t do it all the time,just occasionally. Khan still kept some of them hidden away.

• She was definitely one of those girls who would see true crime content.

• She would sometimes put screamo music when cleaning.

•She definitely listened to grunge,goth,metal music

•She isn’t much of a singer but she can hum pretty well!

•She hums when doing chores or when comforting Uzi.

•Uzi’s and Nori’s love language would definitely be touch. I can see her humming as she caresses Uzi’s head,as Uzi lays it on her mother’s lap. She did this whenever her kid had a rough time.

•Nori was the only person who could calm Uzi down whenever she went “feral”.

•Uzi would probably be more close and vulnerable with Nori.

• Nori is probably one of the most softest/chillest person. But make her really pissed and honey you are dead. (May or may not be literal)

• Whenever she is just angry but not necessarily pissed she is more a cold,piercing kind of anger. The kind to stare into your soul and makes you question all your life choices.

Note: Btw I theorized she was related to the AS and actually had it since EP2! So have some of that!

• She was covered in scars,bumps and dents,but she mostly covered them up with her clothes or the AS did the job healing the scars. Or she covered them up by literally painting over herself.

As to why she had these scars? Well lets say she got herself into questionable and dangerous situations.

• She would replace a lot of the broken mirrors that she would break with her AS in her house,in secret.

• She would occasionally use her AS when doing chores.

Note: We don’t know if Nori consumed Oil whe she was alive,since I theorized she had the AS. But I have some HCs if she did:

• Sometimes she would arrive at her home,alone or when Khan was sleeping. Wearing long forearmed-length black gloves, laced up with purple/white lace.

• She would carry a dark colored bag (that looked like those tote bags but is was bigger and the material was much more thicker) that leaked oil at the bottom.

• Her dress would have dry or fresh stains. She also reeked of oil.

• She started out as frenemies with Yeva,but they later became besties.

• The 2 would hang out a lot alone.

• Nori constantly visited Yeva at her house,but she never invited Yeva to her house. Since Nori was always sort of messy, and she was self conscious about that in the past.

• They both would probably talk all kinds of things.

• She would definitely teach Yeva 1 or 2 things about her AS powers,since Nori has more experience with her AS abilities than Yeva.

• Nori would sometimes speak russian to Yeva. Meanwhile Yeva would speak English to Nori. Just for the funsies.

• Nori actually met Baby Doll at some point! She even held her.

• I always thought of Nori as a more artistic oriented woman but EP3 seems to make me think of her more of the scientific side.

• So she is a bit of both but her artistic side is showed more often than her scientific side.

•Nori personally customized her own necklace and helped Yeva with it when it came to her bracelet.

This sushi cake is a fun take on traditional sushi that will wow your guests at any holiday party. It is rolled into a beautiful cake-like shape and has layers of sushi rice, Nori, and different fillings.

Ingredients: 2 cups sushi rice. 2 1/2 cups water. 1/2 cup rice vinegar. 3 tablespoons sugar. 1 teaspoon salt. Nori sheets. Assorted sushi fillings e.g., cucumber, avocado, smoked salmon, crab sticks. Soy sauce. Wasabi. Pickled ginger.

Instructions: Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear. In a rice cooker, combine the rice and water. Cook according to the rice cooker's instructions. In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Set aside to cool. When the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture until well combined. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature. On a flat surface, lay out a sheet of plastic wrap. Place a layer of Nori on top. Spread a layer of sushi rice evenly over the Nori, leaving a border around the edges. Arrange your chosen sushi fillings over the rice. Carefully roll the sushi cake into a log using the plastic wrap to help shape it. Press gently to compact. Remove the plastic wrap and transfer the sushi cake to a serving platter. Slice the sushi cake into portions using a sharp knife. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger. Enjoy your Sushi Cake!

Make a series of white structures using the shapes, patterns and surfaces you observed at Broomfield. 

These should be ABSTRACTED forms ie no leaf shapes, insects etc. Work from the drawings, photos and b&w sequence drawings.  

Materials: paper, tissue, card, string, straws…

Take care with the construction, and use a scalpel to cut and scour the materials, tear edges deliberately. Explore a range of joining methods- making tape is not acceptable- use tabs and slotting where possible.  

Photograph your experiments throughout, and finally photograph using a light source against a white background.

Per la sua 19 edizione Torino Spiritualità dedica cinque giorni Agli assenti. Della morte ovvero della vita, che saranno un’opportunità per scrittori, pensatrici, filosofi, artisti e per il pubblico di provare a riflettere sul rapporto con la morte, dove sono il mistero del dopo e la memoria degli assenti a rendere enigmatica la fine, ma nella sua certezza è possibile trovare il senso della presenza, di quel cammino che è la vita. Il festival, ideato e organizzato dalla Fondazione Circolo dei lettori, si terrà da mercoledì 27 settembre a domenica 1 ottobre tra il Circolo dei lettori, teatri, cinema e luoghi della cultura di Torino, per un’occasione d’incontro con la fragilità umana, tanto necessaria quanto scomoda e arricchente. Tra le voci dell’evento ci saranno Björn Larsson, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Stefano Massini, Chiara Valerio, François Jullien, Chandra Livia Candiani, Vito Mancuso, Guidalberto Bormolini, Massimo Recalcati, Ilaria Gaspari, Jón Kalman Stefánsson, Massimo Mantellini, Chiara Alessi, Cristiano Godano, Gabriella Caramore, Paolo Nori, Vittorio Lingiardi e Emanuele Trevi. L’inaugurazione della 19 edizione, in programma mercoledì 27 settembre, trasformerà  la chiesa di San Filippo Neri, la più grande di Torino, in un Death Café, con il nome di The biggest Death Café ever. Zukunft feiern

PRESSURE VIBES möchte sich auch mit dieser Party gesellschaftlich engagieren. Bei unserem letzten Event konnten Spenden an den Love Foundation Berlin e.V. für ihre Viva con aqua -Projekte sowie an den Studieren Ohne Grenzen Deutschland e.V. (SOG) gezahlt werden. Auch dieses Mal haben wir ein kleines Future -Nachhaltigkeitspaket zusammengestellt, an dem Ihr über den Eintrittspreis oder einen Snack bei den SOGlis mitwirkt. Studieren Ohne Grenzen wird uns mit einer SOG Kitchen und leckerem Food supporten, deren Einnahmen an den Verein gehen. Die next Techno-Generation wirkt auch wieder tatkräftig hinter den Decks mit. OBT, ein Sound -Collective aus Dresden und Umland, ist mit einem Showcase auf dem Sidefloor und special Deko am Start. Spannend wird, es spielen wieder einige Nachwuchs-DJs ihren ersten big Gig bei uns. Excited! Unsere zwei Nachwuchs DJs vom vergangenen Jahr sind engagiert in der Szene aktiv und werden auch dabei sein. Die (apo)Theke Safernightlife ist mit Awareness -Arbeit in Punkto Drogen-Aufklärung vor Ort. Pinke Hände versorgen uns mit Care-Materialien zum Thema Zigarettenstummel in der Umwelt. Unsere Acts reisen klimafreundlich, keine Flüge, stattdessen Zug und Bus. PRESSURE VIBES möchte darüber hinaus vom Erlös in ein Baumpflanzprojekt investieren. Welcome to the future!

Wir sind außerordentlich dankbar, dass PRESSURE VIBES ein zweites Mal im Sektor Evolution stattfinden kann. Nach dem großen Brand im vergangenen Jahr, zwei Wochen nach unserer Party, haben wir dolle mitgefiebert und gebangt. Und so möchten wir unseren Kraftort und Techno-Tempel, die Sonntagskirche und Evolution-Matrix in dieser Nacht mit ganz viel Herz beleben. Let's bloom together!
