I just realized how sad of a headcanon "Leo is scared of the sound of scrapping metal" is, since that means Leo wouldn't be able to stand listen to Donnie work on his tech, something that Donnie is so passionate about.

And like, Donnie doesn't base his worth on his tech anymore, but even when you've stopped seeing yourself as what you can do, scraps of that view of yourself stick with you, so I think it would still hurt Donnie a lot knowing that the sound of his own tech is a trigger for Leo.

And it hurts Leo even more because I headcanon that he used to spend so much time with Donnie in his lab, not just because he wanted to hang out with his twin, but because it used to be so calming for him.

I know from experience how much it hurts for trauma to take away something you used to love.

★soo urhhh- since it's donatello's birthday today, here are some rise!donnie headcanons, yippie.★

— |★| I can honestly headcanon him as a biromantic asexual and as for the gender, I don't really see him identifying as anything.. literally. He just doesn't care about his gender identity. And while I do headcanon that he would stick to using he/him pronouns, he wouldn't mind being referred to as they/them or she/her.

— |★| He is able to finish several books in the span of a few days if he is too interested in the plot. Think of it as the hyperfixation that he had with the 'Purple Game's in.. 'The Purple Game'. If he is reading out loud, he may get a little dramatic and voice over dialogues in the tone that the characters are described to speak in the book. Hopefully that made sense.

— |★| Has adapted baking as both a hobby and a coping mechanism. I also feel like that if he gets too focused on mixing up the batter or decorating his baked goods, bro would probably get frustrated with whoever disrupts him. He probably made a little kitchen in his lab so that he can bake in peace.

— |★| And since it is well known that Donatello is a fan gift-giving, it wouldn't surprise me if he made baked goods for his family and friends, personalising them to fit the exact taste and texture preferences of his loved ones.

— |★| Urhh, he probably blabbers silently to himself when he is repairing or upgrading his tech, all while listening to music that is loud enough that it could potentially bleed his ears out.

— |★| When it comes to insulting others, he would call them the rarest insults he can possibly think off. Ranging from him calling you a wet sock if you are annoying to him refering to you as 'slow WiFi connection' if you are just straight up aggravating.

— |★| He has a vocal stim in which he says refers stuff that he likes whenever he sees said..stuff. Example, if he is a middle of a conversation and his eyes land on a computer he'll just say the word 'computer' and interrupt either himself or the person that was talking to him.

— |★| Another vocal stim that came to mind, is that whenever Donnie sneezes, he will not stop himself from blurting out 'YEESH — !!' in a high pitched tone of voice.

— |★| He definitely has rebranded 'Going to bed' as 'charging his batteries'.

— |★| If he given clothing that don't meet his requirements, he won't change them or throw them away- and instead, he'll modify them in order to fit his exact proportions and preferences so that they'll be comfortable to him for when he is wearing them.

— |★| Doesn't back down on giving feedback to others, especially if it is asked of him. He could easily talk about his opinion on something for hours, even if it's feedback on something minor such as his thoughts on an outfit. /pos

— |★| A random headcanon, but I believe that there are times where he just pull down his goggles just because he finds their visual stimuli quite satisfying to look at. There are times where he just walk around the lair while he is goggles are covering his face, as if he is trying to scan for something but no- he just likes the way everything around him is bathed in purple.

Officially, all we know about April's family is that she has a mom and dad... and that's it. There is no more official information. April's dad didn't appear or flash in the series at all, and mom appeared once in the background.

I always imagined that April's dad was pretty busy and could sometimes go on business trips, and Mom also worked, but less. April's parents (at least mom) are calm about the fact that their daughter left an unusual and magical dog as a pet. Apparently April's mother accepts that her daughter likes oddities. She even wanted to introduce her daughter to Draxum in one of the episodes of season 2. This can be understood when Drax tells Raph and April, mistaking them for April's mom, that he does not want to meet her daughter. In short, everyone should have such moms👍

rise Raph and rise Donnie are aac users to me. they both have verbal shutdowns. in Raph's case, also alters/headmates who have difficulty talking.

Raph mostly relies on body gestures & ASL and i think he also knows some other sign languages. may have a text-to-speech app on his phone, but i think he leaves it at the lair often due to the risk of it being broken during fights. if he switches then i think it takes him a minute to realize that he needs to use AAC.

Donnie prefers high-tech AAC and has configured his own AAC board on his tablet. he has folders and buttons for specific things like his inventions. he has also canonically used ASL before so i think he uses it semi-often or whenever he doesn't have his tablet.

i like to think Mikey drew some images for Raph & Donnie's boards. i think he also keeps some communication cards on hand in case ASL or text-to-speech is not an option.

all the brothers, April, and Splinter also know ASL. i think Draxum knows a couple signs, but he's working on it.

Leo insisting that he and Donnie are twins is basically just him desperately seeking value in his existence as a whole. (Obv just headcanon and way more in depth under the cut)

Consider this:

Leo is consistently shown to be insecure about his role in the family. Everyone has their special thing and special place.

Raph is the oldest, strongest and thus a protector. He is also appointed leader and definitely helped support and care for his younger brothers the way an oldest siblings would.

Donnie is the smartest (funniest to splinter) and most tech savvy, making sure to create for his family all the time every time. (Donnie pods to save his family, security system to keep his family safe, Shelldon to make his family's life easier, arcade to make sure his family has fun, battle shells that work along with his family as well etc etc).

Mikey is the youngest and the most optimistic, the most wild ninpo and the most artistically creative. He makes everything lively and fun. Not to mention a complete hypeman. He is literal hope incarnate.

But Leo?

He's the second oldest.

He talks a lot.

He makes jokes that rarely land.

He makes himself out to be big when he feels oh so small compared to his siblings.

He reads comics and knows a lot about Jupiter Jim.

He has faulty portalling skills.

Add the whole movie debacle and Leo is the perfect muse for people who feel as if they are insignificant and replaceable.

He feels small. He's no one's "funniest". He's no one's go to for support or for joy the way Raph and Mikey are. He's no one's specific skill that aids and consistently helps the way Donnie is. He's no one's hope, strength, skill or support.

Of course he'd latch onto the idea of being a twin in the family. Something other than just a brother, another son, another friend. He's Donnie's TWIN. That's big! He gets to be considered essential in a way because if one is gone, there are no "twins". Leo gets a proper "role" in the family.

This is all because he never truly gets the chance to grow into the fact that he is so incredibly perceptive, intelligent and quick. Leo understands and knows his family like the back of his hand, and thus can utalize all their skills to make the best of a situation and knows exactly what to say to motivate and encourage them. He makes up strategies and ideas on the spot to throw people off and sweet talk his way through any trouble and any obstacle.

When his ego is dampened, he makes the plans that never fail. But he never truly gets to grow until he's put in charge because he knows how to play the game to win, he just chooses to goof off because he believes he's not a valuable asset.

But being twins with his closest brother? That's big!! Especially when Donnie slips up in speech or behaviour that proves that he isn't at all against the idea. That makes Leo essential.

Because if one is gone? There are no "twins."

(You don't need to do something special or be something special to deserve love and care because you're valued for YOU. Not what you DO! Leo doesn't need to prove himself to be worthy in the eyes of his family. Of course he doesn't feel that way though.)

HC on the Disaster Twins (older twin)

I know a lot of people headcanon Leo as the older twin, but my personal hc is a little different. I like to think that since they were all mutated on the same day, they have no clue who's actually "older," (they were babies so they don't remember, and Splinter wouldn't know because he found them when they were already born. Honestly I find it funny to think that Splinter just guessed their ages.) So instead, when they found out they were the same age/twins, they had a big fit over who was actually older, and the only way they could actually agree is if they "took turns."

Now every year on their "Mutation Day" (they don't know when their birthday's are sooo?) they alternate on who's the "older twin." They definitely rub it in each other's faces when it's their turn!

★random rise!raphael headcanons, for it's his birthday★

— | !! | content / trigger warning: mentions of bandages, mention of wounds, mention / implication of unintentional self harm (??)

— |★| I can easily see Raphael being aroace, or at least cupio—romantic. Though he does get flustered quite often and such, I can't really see him returning, or having romantic feelings for anyone. It's all platonic baby /pos. As for his gender, I can honestly see him identifying as cisgender— and as for the pronouns.. he would be quite flexible with them. Though he would use he/him as his main set of pronouns, I feel like he would let others refer to him however they'd feel comfortable with.

— |★| He likes wrapping bandages tightly around his body, even if he doesn't need to have them on, as he does enjoy the pressure that they provide to him. It makes him feel safe.

— |★| Has a strange habit of collecting bandages and bandaids, either used or not. I have this weird thought that he would not wanna throw them away, as they did help heal his wounds and it would seem ungrateful if he just tossed them away. So yeah, he has a 'bandage' drawer, of some sorts.

— |★| He also let's mikey draw on his bandages. He likes how pretty they look and it gives him another reason to collect them even when they are worn out and old.

— |★| I think that's it's pretty safe to assume that Raph has object empathy of some kind. This is based on the fact that Raph has an attachment for his plushies, as well as referring to lace face- and the tire that he stole from the turtle-tank to use as a tube in 'Man Vs Sewer', as his 'emotional crutches'.

— |★| Raph sometimes jabs his fingers with his snaggle tooth as a form of stimming. He enjoys, and is a bit amazed by how sharp his teeth can actually be.

— |★| Another form of stimming that I can see him have is him clasping his fist against his palm, as if getting ready to jump into battle, but no. It would be more of a happy stim if anything, and the faster the pace gets, and the rougher the clasps are, the happier the snapper is.

— |★| And when Raph is nervous, he either begins talking to himself at an alarmingly fast pace, or he'll just shutdown and snap his teeth at random out of frustration.

— |★| Raph definitely listens to loud music and works out when stressed out or angry, it's one of the more healthy ways for him to defuse- to just smashing and bashing stuff or trying to fight / hit himself.

— |★| He has a snack-stash somewhere in his room, as he is a large turtle with a large appetite. Though there are times where he'll just forget about the food in his room, and when he'll finally remember about the stash, he'll just eat all of it in one day as to not let anything go to waste.

— |★| He also has a snack-stash for his brothers and April in case they want to hang out in his room.

— |★| He sometimes feels a bit self-conscious about not having colourful markings as his younger brothers do, and that went noticed by Mikey; who painted the rims of his spikes with red paint, and Raph actually got emotional /pos.

— |★| He has a tendency to forget how spiky his shell is, so when he goes to scratch it, he jabs his fingers with it's spikes by accident instead.

Quite a rich family. You can understand what excellent living conditions they have: a large house and servants are available. In principle, the ancestors of the Pink family were distinguished by their wealth and status. And despite the strict dress code, the Mona Lisa still stands out and looks less strict. That's the whole Mona Lisa. She likes to add something of her own:)

Initially, Mona Lisa's surname was Williams, but then I changed my mind. As you understand, the surname is Pink speaking. Like, the color of the Mona Lisa is pink, so why not give her a last name in honor of this color? Cool<3 As you know, the Mona Lisa was named after the painting of the same name by the Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. So I decided to do something similar with Mona's brother. Adam was named after the painting "The Creation of Adam" by the Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti.

Mona Lisa and Adam's grandma on Dad's side. She's friends with Mona's mom, they're like friends. Mona Lisa looks most like her grandma Lucy, they have the same vibe💅 Lucy is a widow, as William's dad (Mona and Adam's grandpa) died a long time ago due to heart problems. But William's father was a bad husband and father. He didn't care about his wife and son. He used physical force against them. He raised his son (Mona and Adam's father) cruelly and beat him, because he believed that this was how he would raise a real man and because he believed that children did not understand differently. William's father loved to rule and assert himself at the expense of others. He died after the wedding of Mona Lisa's parents. And since he was a piece of shit, Lucy and William didn't have any emotions. Well, he died and died. They were finally breathing. Lucy, on the other hand, loved her son, showed affection and tenderness, despite her husband's prohibitions. That's why William didn't grow up to be heartless and cruel, but a little cold. Mona's grandparents on her father's side (and on her mother's side too) had a marriage of convenience. This is not uncommon in such families + traditions that have been preserved to this day, because many just got used to it. Well, it's beneficial for wealth and status. A love match was a rarity for Mona and Adam's ancestors.

As for Barbara's family (Mona and Adam's mom), everything is bad there too. Both parents were violent. Physical and psychological violence was also used. Barbara has 6 siblings. Barbara has a bad relationship with her family. She keeps in touch with her family only when there is some business or if it concerns some traditions. For example, a family holiday. But there is no family atmosphere there. It's just a tradition that needs to be followed and that's it. Naturally, Barbara's parents don't care about their grandchildren. Well, there are and there are. The main thing for them is that they married all their children in a way that was beneficial to them. There are heirs in the form of grandchildren, the family continues, the status increases (or does not decrease) and this is enough for them. So Mona and Adam don't really remember or know their grandparents on their mother's side.

Of course, this is not all the servants. There are many of them. There is even a guard. But it is Robert and Maria who are the closest to the Pink family. As I wrote above, William's father (Mona and Adam's grandfather) was terrible and it was Robert the butler who became William's father figure, as he helped raise William from childhood. William loves and respects Robert. Robert has been serving the Pink family for many years since a young age. He taught Mona and Adam defense, basic techniques so they could stand up for themselves. In general, he's a cool man, wow👍 and it's not surprising that Lucy Pink (William's mom) has feelings for Robert. Yes, he is much lower than her status, they are different types of yokai (I don't know how to spell this word correctly, correct me if anything): he is a mammal, she is a reptile. In the families of William and Barbara, it is customary to marry someone who is about your status and of the same species. It's the only way, there's no other way, the other way is frowned upon. Lucy also adhered to this for many years, so she denied for a long time that she was in love with Robert. Lucy herself did not notice how she began to fall in love with her butler. And this is not surprising. While Lucy's husband did not put her in anything, ignored her opinion, behaved rudely towards her, Robert supported and helped her as much as possible, complimented her. He even became a father figure to Lucy's son, for which she is noble to him. Lucy and Robert have always been good friends. Robert is like a father to Mona and Adam, too.

As for Maria, she used to be a nanny and worked as one from the age of 18-19. She gets along very well with children. But since Mona Lisa is 17 years old, and Adam is 21 years old, Maria is now working more as a maid. She always comforted, gave advice to the children, talked to them heart to heart. If Mona and Adam need to speak out, they turn first to Maria. Mr. and Mrs. Pink treat their employees well and with respect. But Robert and Maria became family members.

As for the relationship between Mona Lisa and Adam, not everything is as good as we would like. They're a little tense, but they love each other.

As I wrote before, Mona and Adam's parents were raised in strict and conservative families. And this, of course, influenced some parenting methods. Parents didn't beat their children, they bought them almost anything they wanted for good behavior, for example, but there were nuances. The father did not allow his son to show much emotion. After all, he is a boy and therefore he should not cry, he should be tough and not complain + he is the eldest among the children and the main heir, therefore he has more demands.
