I WENT TO AN ACTUAL ARCADE FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! i also got my first ever haircut that works with my curls and got a lot of access to things i wouldn't in the country i grew up in,, which is pretty cool :DDD things have slowed down since i got used to living here an' i haven't gone out with my sister and her friends in a while,, but i get to chill and relax until school starts - so it's not a problem (/≧▽≦)/ !!! how's it going on your end???? i hope things are well and shiny for you,,, you deserve things as kewl as you. :3 /pos /gen

leave ((due to school being too expensive and having better opportunities in my dad's country)) and another month or two to get used to living here!!! my school situation was WAY more complicated,,, i did entrance exams and an interview to get into a prestigious (?) school and was told i didn't pass two months later ((the exams were way harder than any other schools' and i was at a horrible disadvantage since my country's education system is far more lax and simple compared to this one's)),, we had to scramble looking for schools and finally landed on three,,, then couldn't make it to one entrance exam and completed another school's and a second school's and decided on the second one 'cause the teachers were super considerate and it was super obvious what the better choice was!!! wowie,, what a MOUTHFUL.

mouthful INDEED. it seems that you had a lot on your plate these past months. abrupt changes, homesickness-- struggling to find the right school and balance the studies all together. it's all too complicated to process. all that sounds one MASSIVE hassle. but I'm glad that you ended up in a school with kind and caring teachers,, hopefully that will ease up your experiences there !

yea, that. werh. set it off is a pretty cool rock band that formed in 2008 and currently has been nominated for two platinum records (me thinks). their music is mostly angry, but they've also made more happy tunes- especially in their 2015 album duality, and their 2016 album upside down. uh. yea.

Yesssss, I have heard of Set It Off!! I was into the emo scene back then! Unfortunately, I haven't listened to their music in years -- but that era of bands will always have a special place in my heart bc of the memories I have of being young and exploring my identity!! <3 Maybe I'll have to check them out again at some point in the near future! "huh- hm, raph, I would love to, but I'm going out with friends- we'll have to go shopping and-"

"didn't you.. see them three days in a row already ?" asked the snapper, the tip of his long tail flicking against the wooden floorboards- head cocking confusingly as he questioned (reader)- a gleam of concern in the mutant's eyes, one that didn't go unnoticed by them. they shook their head, laughing his question off.

"yeaa, but- but there are some things that they-" (reader) took a small pause, coughing out a little as they gave themselves a moment to reconstruct their words.

"uh, we wanna purchase and..y'know- they kinda want me to go with them, haha-" they swiftly waved their hand at raphael, giving a small smile- one to reassure him. and yet, their grin and humourous tone didn't feel convincing to him- no, it seemed.. forced.

"I- I dunno (reader), you've barely spent any time with us this month- urhh- or me for that matter." raph spoke in a worried tone- arms crossing as he leaned his shell onto the lair's skate ramp, the spikes on his shell splinting through the wood ever so slightly. 

"uh- did I do something to upset you -? is that why you never-"

"raph, nono- of course not, what are you saying ??" (reader) laughed out nervously- abruptly cutting off the snapper, their hands waving playfully as they tried to further reassure him.

"it's just that I really have to hang out with em- and uh, they already have the whole spree planned out so-"

"(reader)-"

"and well, I'm involved in it-"

"(reader)- can you just-"

"and I can't just back out now- im gonna ruin their whole plan -!"

"but you find shopping boring." pointed out the red clad, the tip of his long tail flicking against the boards of the skate ramp, giving them a narrowed look as a small frown took place on his beak.

"..yea- but- but"

"why are you forcing yourself to do something that you don't enjoy ?" questioned the snapper- his tone pushy, yet also concerned,  pushed himself up from the ramp- splints of wood now stuck on the spikes of his shell, but he payed no mind to it. (reader) in return, bit their tongue- chewing a little around their gums as well as they tried to come up with a response- one that would relieve the turtle.

"oh c'mon- it ain't so bad when im out with friends !!" they exclaimed with a small smile- almost an sweet, yet akward one.

"plus- I already told them im going with em, and I can't just cancel now- I mean, who is gonna pay for everything if I do, haha- !" (reader) once again laughed out in an attempt to ease the turtle's concern- though, their words had the opposite effect on the terrapin.

"..you.. pay for- pay for all of it ??" his eyes widened a bit- the small frown on his face widening slightly- looking almost dissaproving of what they said. though- the turtle did not push this further- biting down his words, awaiting for what they'd have to say in return.

"uhhh- yea-yea ?? they don't really have the funds to buy things for themselves, so im kind of helping them purchase those items !!" (reader) beamed with a faint grin, their tone kind and almost upbeat as they put their hands on their hips- puffing their chest out as if they were doing a noble deed.

raph though, did not shimmer their cheerful attitude- or at least, the one they were trying to portray. he however, forced a small, crooked smile- thinking that maybe they were just being kind- making a nice gesture for their friends. but yet again, just how much money have they spent on them- and just how much time amd energy have they..wasted, being around them. he sensed that something was off with this whole situation, with the way they would get more and more drained when they mentioned going out with their friends.. but they always kept a cheery face- showing a side of themselves that is more than willing to shove down whatever exhaustion just to be there for others.

and it was not just with their friends that they did it- raph saw how much of an altruistic individual (reader) really is- always jumping in to provide for others, trying hard to meet their needs no matter how difficult or nerve-wracking they may be for them. always suppressing stress to follow other people's requests. at first, raph thought of their helpful nature as something to admire, but the more and more he looked into it, he started to realise..

they were being used. they were being used by other people. he wishes he is wrong about all this, and that they recognize when they are really being manipulated to do something, and when they actually want to help- but as of now, the turtle can only speculate, not wanting to rush into any harmful conclusions. head lowerering to the ground as he took a small breath before he started speaking, unsure of how they were going to react to his words- unsure of what to say.

"but- but you also need the money, don't cha?? why do you spend it on 'em- I mean, cool that you are helpin' ya friends out- it's tha-" he couldn't even finish his sentence and he cut off by their quite laughter- that familiar sound for when they want to ease his concerns.

"no-nonono, it's okay- !! I like helping them out" they huffed with a smile- but at this point, it was hard for the turtle to understand if it was genuine one, or a hollow one.

"besides- some of the stuff that they want are also limited edition, so I can't be greedy with my fortune and have to hel-"

"doesn't sound like you are helpin' them with anythin' important." raph cut them off fast- his tone sharp and abrupt, almost stern as he spoke to the now concerned (reader), who cocked a furrowed brow in confusion at his bold statement.

it took a minute for the snapper to proccess what he just said to them- though one he did, he felt his face grow red with embarassment, so red in fact that it put his bandana to shame.

"I- no, that's NOT what I meant -" now it was raph's turn to justify his words- to be the one to act all awkard around you, fearing that he was too blunt with his comment- which, quite frankly, he was- which was something that striked a sense of bitterness within reader's big heart.

"meant- what, exactly..?" they furrowed their brows at him, arms crossing as they gave him a firm look, their cheerful attitude dropping down an octave as they awaited for raph to explain himself.

however- a small part inside of them didn't need any further explanation- one that they tried to shove down, for the sake of being seen as helpful. it would be rude for them to back down now- to not follow their friend's requests, but at the same time- they had to admit it, to themselves at least: it was starting to get overwhelming- if not a little suspicious, as to how often their friends have been asking them for favours- when they themselves never returned said favour to (reader). they choked down those thoughts- thinking that maybe they are all having a rough time- or are collectively planning something bigger to give them in return, but thought too seemed selfish. they shouldn't be expecting anything in return if they are so willing to help !! but at the same time, getting nothing but a dull- and almost fake 'thank you' for every request that they followed didn't suffice much.

and the fact that their friends interacted with them only to just for stuff- with a good chunk of those favours not even being close to be classified as 'emergencies', left (reader) feeling unsure of if they are truly helping others out, or if they are just mindlessly feeding their into impulses- under the guise of being 'helpful'.

sure- their friends do get satisfaction when they show the sligthest bit of kindness towards them, more so when they fufill their wishes, but other than that.. they could say that they are acting distand towards them. cold even. it's only hugs and smiles when they do them a favour or two.

they weren't sure if that sat right with them, and neither did it sit right with the snapping turtle in front of them- who bit down on his tongue, brows furrowed as he tried to find an explanation for his words, or to rather- further open up their eyes.

"uhh- uh, it just seems unfair to me how-" raph paused again as he looked back at their frowning expression- a sense of bitterness in their eyes, though the snapper was unsure of if it was aimed towards him. he hoped not. with a small- gruff huff, the red clad shook his head- trimmed bandana tails swaying from side to side as he did so.

"how you always spare them everything- ya'know, your time- money- urh,, anything- for whatever reason -!!" he exclaimed- his tone taking another stern turn- this time though, his voice was a little louder- almost frustated at the thought of you being used by the ones that you call friends.

and it wasn't just the gifts and money that (reader) gave their friends that they constantly asked for- no. raph had noticed how (reader)- also allowed others to use them as an emotional crutch- giving into the pressure of being other people's punching bag for when they needed an outlet.. how they also took the burden of those who didn't want to deal with their own issues onto their back, pressing down the overwhelming feelings that came as a result just so that they can be a reliable friend.

and that angered raph in a way- how easy it was to get them to do things for others- how they felt guilty and panicked when they couldn't get a task that was asked of them done. how they would quickly burn themselves out if it meant being validated- and all that just to get nothing but a hollow smile in return.

sure- he should be grateful, and even proud of their willingness to give a helping hand, and to be honest- he is, really is proud, all the reactions that they are getting in return- how people are aware of their hunger for appreciation and are using them for it are what is bugging him.

he bared his fangs for a moment- making (reader) shrink away a little, almost he was fuming of the thought of their altruistic nature was being used- without others showing them the sligthest of appreciation despite them sacrificing all their time and energy to help them out.

and in a way, it reminded him of himself. he too knows how it's like to take all the burden, all too well at that. to carry it's weight on his back as to not fail others, no matter how crushing the weight may be. and (reader), shouldn't have to carry other's people's burden- no, he can't let that happen to his dearest friend.

"and yet- those friends of yours never- !" his voice raised a bit, words laced anger as he finally continued- though, as he looked back at (reader) seeing how they as well tensed up- almost afraid, he let out a hitched breath, shaking his head as he took a moment to cool down for their sake.

"..they never return the favour, (reader)." raph spoke rather solemnly, sighing out as he put his hands on his hips, shoulder falling loose- almost looking like a dissapointed father- and yet, his face was laced with concern.

"they always- they shove you to the sidelines and only let you shine when it's convient for 'em." 

those words made (reader) loosen up a little- their body languege dropping to a more relaxed one- yet their face was a sad one- one of guilt, bitter as they realized just how right raph was. they never thought they would agree with anyone over this matter- they always found a way to excuse their friend's actions towards them, their coldness- how they were only sweet to them when they did something for them. it all added up- his words added up.

and they hated it. they hated how right he was- how he saw through them and how overwhelming it was to be doing constant favour for others- to let others eat their energy away just to fuel theirs.

(reader) hung their head low, lips pursed into a thin line- one of conflict as they conteplated what response to give to the snapper.

"yea, but..it wouldn't be right if I just leave them. I still can't just cancel everything- they are my friends-" 

"if they were your friends, they would understand that you need some time for yourself as well- correct ?" his gruff voice as cut off (reader)- words once again laced with concern- yet he still spoke sternly.

"..yeah, right." they huffed out- voice strained as they continued to look at the ground- almost ashamed. they weren't sure wether they were ashamed of themselves, or of the truth. (reader) leaned their shoulder on one of the skateramps, almost sulking- sulking in their conflict and their own thoughts- thoughts that were shattered as they felt the soft pressure of the turtle's large, scaly hand onto their shoulder- who looked at them with worry.

"..you need a break from 'em (reader)- wait, no. a break in general." he hesitantly pulled them close to his side- giving them a small hug.

"what- what if I dissapoint them by taking one.." (reader) mumbled as they slowly leaned into the turtle's embrace- who faltered for a moment as they voiced their fears, contempt in their voice at the thought of dissapointing others.

raph thought of what to say for a moment, now wrapping his large arm around them- before huffing out a small response.

"if they can't handle that- that would show that they never really cared for ya-" he almost choked on his own words- figuring that they would be a little too harsh for them. his face grew red once again- embarrased once more- though he didn't let that control him.

"what I mean- is that, uh.. they never really deserved you, if the get mad at you for having your own needs- for wanting space." raph's long tail tapped against the floorboards slowly- trying to calm the tension within him and in tern, trying to calm his freind's worries as well.

(reader) however, never really responded- slowly giving into the exhastion that they've been bottling up all this time. they just leaned their head onto the turtle's plastron- steaming from the inside as to how right he was about everything. and yet- at the same time, them recognising that they weren't in the best situationships with others almost felt.. relieving. but still- that fucking parasite telling them that they were being self centered. 

"..it feels selfish." they muttered quitely, voice muffled as they further leaned on the turtle's plastron.

"it's not." he assured, voice soft and genuine

"it's not selfish to care for yourself." he lowered his head- propping his chin on the top of their head as he comforted them. ✷ — the reason as to why he can't stop screaming when he starts to do so is because he is terrified of his own scream. and he will scream out in fear if someone else screams out before him.

✷ — he propably laughs off embarrasing situations that had happened to him in the past, no matter how cringe they may have been for him. he just wants to view them as a lesson to either grow- or make them put as something to let out a chuckle to.
