I always find it strange when people lament that Rayla and Callum don't have much in common (implying they're a bad ship) when, to me, they're one of the most realistic portrayal of friends and lovers I've seen across various genres.

They very clearly enjoy each other's company. They have a similar quirky style of gallows humour. They like teasing each other, and they bounce ideas off each other. They fiercely love and care for their friends and family.

I mean, Callum just randomly starts spouting poetry at her, and does Rayla make fun of him or make him feel weird or self-conscious? Nope. She not only knows what he's talking about, she engages with it.

I suppose on the surface they don't have much in common. Callum loves his books and research, and Rayla’s more action orientated, but once you dig deeper, the foundation of their relationship is built on mutual admiration and respect.

And that is what's important. That's what long-lasting relationships are built on.

Your partner may not have the same taste in books or activities as you, but do they still engage with you about your interests? Do they support you indulging in them or spending time doing them? Do they respect you and your differences?

That love and support is what stands the test of time.

Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

Can we talk about how if the theory that Oh Il Nam ( the old man , player 001 ) is In Ho's father , making him Jun Ho's father as well since they don't have the same mother ( Jun Ho's mother calls herself In Ho's stepmother meaning they're related by the paternal side ) This makes Jun Ho literally the HEIR to the Squid games 😭 . His father made / hosted the Squid games for a long time , [ not sure if he created them but he was most definitely in charge for it all for a while ] AND his brother became the game master / frontman who over sees the games and makes sure everything is in working order ... This reveal will be so damn interesting to see , like will Jun Ho still go through with finding and destroying the games or will he hesitate since it was his literal family who created it in the first place ? Or even Take Over ... 🤔

Thinking about something goes screwy with time and the Veilguard all get knocked back about six months before Solas's ritual. Lucanis comes to the conclusion that the last year and a half or so were just his firing off random neurons trying to give him a little bit of, like, not hope, but something other than crushing despair and and tbh it might’ve worked if he had died at the end. Spite is mad because "YOU PROMISED! NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR ROOK" and he doesn't listen when Lucanis tries to remind them that Rook is proballt doesn't exist and Spite keeps shouting but he's not making his nose bleed so that's something. Now that he's awake it's honestly crazy he believed any of it. Blighted Elven Gods? Him finding love? A best friend? Illario betraying him?

Anyway not super long after he "wakes" up there's a commotion due to the fact that there are eight people, a griffon, and a skeleton that have just broken intothe Ossuary Mad As Hell because he's not the only one to have suddenly woken up six months before things got weird but he is the ONLY one to have not had the thought "OH NO LUCANIS!"

Because again, it wasn't a dream. And none of the Veilguard is willing to let Lucanis stay stuck in that prison.

ugh this is so pathetic and embarrassing but. it might be helpful to me if people would tag horror movie content with 'horror' or 'horror movie' or 'horror film' or something. because unfortunately seeing a still image of a horror movie monster or body horror scene, or a gif of the guy from saw swinging a bloody hand down to implicitly cut off his offscreen leg or whatever even though onscreen he's just swinging his arm, or even just an overly zippy horror movie poster or overly descriptive sentence about the content of a horror movie, does in fact often cause me to get so stressed out and compulsively miserable that i cry

[ETA: sufficiently non-explicit/non-tone-preserving joke content, like the Thursday the 12th meme that has a picture of jason in the store, is fine. my line is weird and hard to articulate but "does this preserve the tone of the horror movie or is it ridiculous/an obvious joke" is a reasonable way to delineate things i might benefit from tagging vs things that won't bother me.

also like. i made it sound very bad but it's not actually such a huge deal for things that aren't "this is literally a gif of a horror movie" so if you would like to make the question you ask yourself "is this literally a gif of a horror movie" you will already be solving most of my problems]

Sometimes I start getting worried for no reason like “oh no what if people take issue with my different species in worldbuilding projects having different physical needs and abilities because it could lead to inequality” as if that isn’t an interesting and worthwhile topic to think about in itself. We have a society of ONE sapient species and we still have endless variation in our experiences and one million inequalities bitch you think it won’t be a problem when there’s even MORE variety? Dont you want to think about how this manifests and how people accommodate (or don’t accommodate!) these differences. sorry i haven't posted much lately! tbh i've been feeling kind of burnt out and massively unmotivated with palia. don't get me wrong, i still really love the game (especially the characters and the worldbuilding) and i have tried to log in and play but tbh the game itself just isn't keeping my attention rn.

i don't blame the devs at all since i know they're going Through It rn what with the massive layoffs, california fires, and losing money. that being said, the little story progression, constant game breaking bugs every update, and Way too high prices for things,,, it got to me. it sucks because i do really love this game and i Want to devote more time to it but i've lost the motivation to do that.

i'm hoping that i'll gain at least some of it back with the elderwoods update but i also can't help but feel some trepidation at the thought of the release getting pushed back and what kind of bugs will inevitably come with it.

anyway, ik i don't have to explain myself or anything, but i just wanted to let you guys know i guess? i Do still love the game and i anticipate future updates (and hopefully getting sucked back into it) but for now, i'm not devoting a lot of time to it. i'm thinking of doing some art for the characters just so i don't lose interest completely but the game itself is taking a massive backseat :/
