Okay so since this I've been getting spammed with several different AU versions of the RWBY Girls.
The Tarnished Spartan, Withered Rose and Aged Dragon... Okay, so I'm probably gonna get some hate for this... But Hot Take, these make no damn sense...
The idea that ANY Member could survive in the EverAfter Like Jaune did is laughable... Ruby Literally Killed Herself like what...Three Days in?
Blake Runs... Repeatably from shit, and is ironically the quickest to emotional outlashing...
The one who'd last the longest are Weiss and Yang... And to be frank, we've seen Yang Break, and succumb to Depression, and that was before her whole character became all about Blake. I'm only half joking about that, Seriously though the fact that her biggest mental issue was over her and Blake's relationship Reveals exactly why she'd fail to last there... She'd break, in a year alone, and give into depression.
Yang just isn't as emotionally and mentally strong as Jaune, it's why after The Fall she gave up while Jaune didn't.
Weiss, I could see Weiss going insane since the EverAfter was REALLY fucking with her logical sensibilities. Ultimately I think she'd last the longest but also would go way crazier then Jaune...
But what would do her in is Alyx poisoning her...
And then we have Pyrrha... HAHAHAHA!!! No, No wait, I need to laugh more! SERIOUUSLY!!! PYRRHA!!! PYRRHA!
Dude, I don't know why People fail to grasp that Pyrrha for all her strengths, and amazing points, is emotionally and mentally one of the weakest characters in the entire show.
The girl is a literal champion, invincible, had Weiss arrogant freaking Schnee trying to Brown Nose her way into being her partner. And somehow she lacked the confidence to even try and flirt with a boy she likes.
She will literally tell Jaune to go ask out Weiss to the Dance Knowing it'll fail because let's face it, up until then it always has... Instead of asking him herself... Outside of combat Pyrrha incredibly weak-willed. It's actually something I really appreciated about her character, that she was only a Mary Sue when in battle.
Outside of it, she's not the walking talking solve everyone's problem girl... And we see this with more then just Jaune, we saw it when she was tearing herself apart over choosing whether to become the Fall Maiden or not.
To the point where she used her powers and lashed out at Jaune... Of Course, that is Valid. She was going through a lot, through a really horrible, cruel decision...
But that's exactly why I know she'd fail in the EverAfter, because the EverAfter is so much more mentally taxing. Physical strength only means so much when that place fucks with your mind more then anything.
And let's not sugar coat it, Pyrrha would be in a rough spot emotionally compared to Jaune. The fight at Haven... Would be the same I'd say. Pyrrha would Rush Cinder outta rage. And even if Cinder hadn't attacked her, Vernal was winning, and I can't see her sparring Weiss. So Yeah, Weiss would've died and it'd snowball into worse.
Hell, regular Pyrrha would break in the EverAfter, let alone a guilt-ridden one. All it takes is some fucked up mind game involving Jaune in that crazy world and I'd see Pyrrha rushing to Ascend herself.
Okay, well... I'm done with my little rant, sorry all y'all for dropping that on you. And hey, if you like the idea of these Aged warriors from the EverAfter then power to you. Just cuz I don't like them doesn't mean you shouldn't.
I'm just getting sick of ask pertaining to this is all, especially the more toxic ones saying 'If Jaune could do it, then it'd be easy for (Insert RWBY Girl's Name)' as those are utter bullshit as the only person who might be sane enough to last there alone might... Might be Ren.
The series has shown that while their strong physically Team RWBYs members are mentally way more fallible then Jaune.
Okay so diving a bit into the Fate series I'm realizing something Jaune qualifies to be a Heroic spirit. The Rusted Knight is literally his legend... And now I'm trying to think on how much his legend (The Story) Effects him.
Would he be a Rider (Juniper Mount) Or a Saber... I would suggest Ruler but from my understanding it requires one to not covenant to Grail which due to his regrets (Pyrrha, Penny & Alyx) I can't see Applying to him.
And finally what would be his Noble Phantasm? Thoughts anyone?

Imagine Zeus calling Athena to ask why she's been avoiding him and he's like "I can tell when you're upset, you can talk to me!" and she shoots back with a "You clearly didn't care enough that day though."
And he's all like "What did you say?", because he's genuinely confused on what exactly she meant. At this point, the games were mostly behind him. Odysseus was released from Ogygia, so why would Athena still upset? She already paid the price, so there was no need to still be upset. He knows that she knows better now.
Athena takes his tone wrong, that this is him getting angry again and she starts freaking out. She cowers away from him, putting her hands over her head, saying "I didn't mean it, I'm sorry I upset you, please don't hurt me" over and over in a frightened trance.
And he's just watching her crumble in shock, because this wasn't the same goddess that challenged him in the games. This wasn't the warrior who would push her emotions away, who would use logic over anything.
This was his daughter crying and shaking because of his actions. Because of what he had done, he permanently changed the way Athena sees him. Respectfully, still. But now she fears him too. He's confused, because that's what he wanted wasn't it? To pay for speaking against him, for beating his game.
So why was he suddenly feeling guilty at the sight of her staring at him with terror in her eyes?
Athena ends up running away in a panic before he can do anything else.

Also, can we talk about magic? i suppose they wanted to make the game more luring to new players, but magic used to be rare, closed under the lock and feared. Mages were feared and cosidered dangerous. Tevinter was an execption, not a general rule. How come people forgot only ten years ealier there was a regular war between mages and chantry, the very reason Inquisition was formed? Why is there magic, anciet elven magic behin every corner? It feels like reboot.
"It feels like reboot"
Because it is a reboot 💀 Or at least, it's the first step towards one.
Explaining how magic is seen in Thedas, all the different opinions and fears and hopes people have about it, would have been impossible in a single game clearly aimed at luring new players in. They put all the major pieces of explanation in the codex (one part of it is filled and complete since from the start of the game, because it's basically a catalogue detailing everything about Thedas), and let you play as a mage to your heart's content, with no strings, no responsibilities attached.
They tried to preserve some logic in Minrathous - there's mention of how Tevinter's families try to breed the perfect mages to rise in power and influence, so that's good. But you also see a "Noble" mingling with a "Civilian" among the fishermen, and telling her she shouldn't waste time and money on making things better for the poor people. What the hell is she doing there, then? Why isn't she in Minrathous proper, drinking wine and looking down on the poor districts?
Just around every corner, a few feet away from the closest tavern, Venatori are constantly putting up blood magic barriers. The same in the Necropolis, with the Venatori making camp just one door behind the main hub where the Mourn Watch is stationed. Everyone performs rituals, the Circles are barely mentioned, a Forbidden One is hiding behind a door in the Necropolis' main hall and no one ever noticed it before, not even Emmrich.
Statues of Fen'Harel and the Evanuris, elven relics and elven contraptions are hidden everywhere - everywhere. To show how vast and influential the elven empire was? That was probably the devs' intent. Does it always make sense? No. Is it for gameplay purposes, to fill the map with puzzles and stuff to find like in the 2000s? Obviously.
In Inquisition, there was an entire area of the Hinterlands ravaged by the Templars and rebel mages. The refugees were scared of walking the roads to find food because there was wild magic flying around. Rabid templars crazy on lyrium roamed the woods, and the Chantry was powerless.
Elven ruins were scattered around with sense, with a purpose, barely visible among the vegetation, forgotten and avoided, or almost forced to fuse with Chantry's buildings (just look at the Emerald Graves). There was a logic behind the NPCs' and props' locations in the world.
Here, there is simply no logic or consequence to anything ever. The Black Divine is never addressed, as far as I remember. Dalish clans have lost any distinction - the only elven faction you meet is that of the Veil Jumpers, which is a weird cocktail of elves who all know how bad the Evanuris are and random humans and Qunari. Yes, there are humans being allowed to guard ancient elven artifacts in a Dragon Age game. No, they are not called shem. Yes, they all get along swimmingly.
The Crows are not slavers and dangerous figures anymore - they're actually the heroes of Treviso! They treat their fledgling Crows with care and respect, no torture involved. Where did you hear such a preposterous idea? Zevran? Who's Zevran?
Taash says the Qun isn't a prison. How is that possible? They sent assassins after Bull when he defected. They hunt Vashoth and Tal-Vashoth if they dare leave, and if a sten loses his sword, he cannot return home, because his brethren would kill him, as "to a Qunari warrior, the sword is the soul."
So yeah, this was definitely supposed to be a reboot for Dragon Age, just like Andromeda was supposed to be one for Mass Effect. That's why everything falls flat.

Need to get something off my chest
People in the fandom blaming Nana for causing Shigaraki to be abused and all the suffering the Shimura family went through as well as calling her decision to abandon Kotaro stupid is if someone blamed all the abuse and horrible actions of Enji that the Todoroki family had to suffer through on Enji's deceased father.
Specifically people appear to zone in on Nana's call to not have All Might or Gran Torino check in with her family when it makes sense. She knows AFO has eyes and ears everywhere and will use that to kill those closest to her and those around her as we know since Nana's husband is dead by the time Kotaro is given up for adoption and All Might leaves Japan for the US in order to avoid AFO for that same reason. There is also no way for Nana to know that her successor would wind up as the strongest wielder of One For All and would be the first person to take down All For One.
I'm not sure if you were in the mha critical side of tumblr, but this is a very common opinion here. Nana deserved better, and none of the nana hate honestly made sense.
People shouldn't blame nana for doing what she could to protect her child. She explicitly said that she had done it to protect him, and she didn't willingly want to give up her child. The act wasn't done out of malice but was done out of love. Her husband was dead, and all for one was on her tail. She had to train all Might, and there was no safe choice to keep kotaro. It was a hundred times safer to make a distance between her and kotaro so he could live without the burden of his mother's duties on top of him caring or threatening to cause him constant harm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nana tried her best as a mother, and we didn't talk enough about it. She, at the beginning, was probably the breadwinner of the family, her job making it so that she had limited time with her son, yet from the flashbacks we see that kotaro loved his mother dearly. He loved her that child him simply cried and cried when she was about to leave, he loved her to the point that he kept her picture acknowledging that she was his mother yet despising that she left him all alone. His hatred of nana stems mainly from feelings of sadness and betrayal, which only exist because he loved his mother and felt safe when she was near.
I suppose we don't talk about the fact that after nana's husband died and she became a widow she had to juggle all the responsibilities of being a weirder of OFA, a mother who had to be constantly active in her child's life and a hero who had to save others while also ensuring that she earned enough money to keep her son comfortable.
I headcanon that at the time nana was never a good cook and that it was her husband that usually cooked for the family but when he died she had to take on the cooking duties which was a struggle but we see her actively trying even including her son in the process.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giving up kotaro was the most logical circumstance, and I stand by that. I think to a certain extent, kotaro realises that too, and it's exactly why he doesn't blame his mother but blames her job he blames the hero, not his mother. To me, it evidently seems like kotaro separates nana into two different versions : the hero and his mother.
If we follow that belief, it's exactly why the only photo that kotaro has with his mother is so painful. Every time he sees that photo he in a way, is forced to acknowledge that both versions of nana are his mother. The photo shows his mother, but it shows her in her hero attire she is the 7th weirder of ofa in that picture not his mother but the mannerisms, the way she smiles and looks at him is that of a mother's look.
A haunting picture for kotaro. A picture of a mother's love.
Comparisons between enji and nana fall on deaf ears especially when you look at the circumstances and situations that both characters are faced with.
Enji DOESN'T love his children, his actions were out of malice, greed and desire to be great. He sacrificed family for greatness.
Nana LOVED her child. Her actions had a desire to protect, love, and care for her only family, her only offspring. A beautiful light in the world that she doesn't want destroyed by AFO. She had no choosing as I bet if she truly had the choice. She would do anything to love, protect, and be with her child. In a dreadful situation, nana chose the only way to guarantee kotaros safety.

It is! Oftentimes.
-Yeah... Perhps that is true but I am not sur eanymore. I know he deleated the songs on Ismarus slaughter but yeah
-Yes perhaps it is unfair of me to take it out on you. It is just that I have answered this question more times than what I can count. I take that back. I am annoyed in general by this but yes it is unfair to take that out on you. Hahahaha fair enough true true. Like I said I take that back.
-To be fair I understand why and the example is quite blunt I understand but this is literally the level of Iconic scenes like Sirens or Circe are. Remove the sirens experience and you have a story where the shoe of Cinderella is no longer a thing and Cinderellla is recognized by something else instead.
-Clearly, I suppose. To me "retelling" is exactly what the word says "re tell a story". The story is there. The adittions to the story would be either fill in the gaps or add some piece of information that is part of the research. At least this is how I usually work on my retellings as well. I actually posted a small analysis as an example on how I usually do the stories
I am not saying if my work is a bad or good retelling (that is in the eye of the beholder). I am just saying that in my mind a retelling is not something that aims to change everything; is something that retells the story in the present potentially making some changes to make it easier to the target audience but all in all the basic plot is respected and followed, otherwise like I said is not retelling to me, just a "loosely based on" idea. I definitely agree to that I am not sure either what better word one can use at that case! Hahaha
-I did hear that from fans as well. Like I said there is nothing wrong with liking it especially since you are clearly also aware of the differences. It just doesn't vibe with me
-I agree to the first one. Yes if a story is said to be a retelling or an adaptation I myself expect it to be accurate. But at the same time I also get annoyed becase these stories had more than enough of unfaithful adaptations as well which again makes me a bit sad as well Generally I dslike this "fanom logic". On one hand it is great that people get dedicated and like something, on the other it becomes so hard to control these things and find truth from lie and imagination from fact sometimes. Indeed they are. I found most of them very nice. One or two again didn't vibe with me like "Suffering" but they were personal preferences (plus again linked to that iconic moment that got twisted hahaha)
-Oh yes I do find very good converstions on the matter for sure. Well call me crazy but again I think the OG Odyssey has as much video game logic as it can't be more. Like Odysseus slaughters Ismarus but saves Maron, Maron gives him the godly wine, Odysseus uses that godly wine to get Polyphemus drunk. The bag of winds needs not to be opened it is opened so the people move from one place to another. To defeat the witch you have to pay the price and sell yourself to her. You go to the underworld with stuff that she gives you and slay a sheep and not let others go to drink till Tiresias arrives. Tiresias gives a prophecy. To go through Skylla you try to fight but ultimatey you pay the price. To save yourself from Charybdis you need to grab on the tree the witch told you about etc. Not all video games have boss fights every five meters and I could absolutely see Odyssey as an open world video game already from the OG material. But maybe that is just me.
-Absolutely that is a positive outcome from it if more people get to read the original.
New Epic saga and it's horrible... to give you an idea, Odysseus fought Poseidon, stole his trident and made him beg for mercy
hmmm a god begging a mortal for mercy is not exactly on par with Greek religion and stories. How did that scene made it into the final version?

Out of Elucien and Gwynriel, who do you think is more likely to have their story told next, and why?
I just want to preface this by saying Sarah could absolutely write either pairing first. Only she knows what her 5 year (10 year??) plan is for this series and whether Koschei is supposed to be a bigger bad than he currently seems or whether she's going to introduce an even worse villain that she'll tie into different crossover plots. All that could make a difference in who is getting the next book.
With that said........
I think Elucien makes the most sense. First they are both more strongly connected to the current ACOTAR plots. At the end of SF they were worried about Beron, Koschei, those on the continent not signing the peace treaty, the issues in Spring.
To date, neither Bloomsbury or Sarah has ever made the announcement that you need to read the CC series to understand the next ACOTAR book. Even if they did it wouldn't make a lot of sense because most casual readers don't follow Sarah or Bloomsbury therefore they'd have no way to know what order you needed to read the series in. To me, that logically means the events of HOFAS cannot kick off the next ACOTAR book and truth be told, the ending of HOFAS didn't actually leave us with an actual plot that needs resolved. There were hints of what might come but the characters were not left thinking, "this is a threat to our world right now and we need to deal with it." Especially not when they already have more pressing threats to their world, the ones that were introduced in ACOWAR, the novella and SF.
Second, Elain and Lucien have been waiting a very long time for the resolution to their mating bond / love story. It's not that Sarah can't dive into a Gwynriel romance but I'm not sure their romance is more of a story right now. There's no real tension between them that needs resolved, they're in the baby stages of things. It's a beautiful place for them to be of course, it's fun to see them beginning to interact but I think it would be odd for Az to go from lusting after Mor, wanting to go down on Elain then end up mated to / in love with Gwyn all within the same year. I think Az could use a bit of time where he's removed from his centuries of pining for unattainable women to focus on his issues alone so that he's the right kind of love interest for Gwyn. And where Gwyn has a little more time to explore the world outside of the library, where she's not going from leaving it for the first time in two years to being mated to Az that same year. (Girl deserves to see what else is out there and make Az sweat a bit).
But Elain and Lucien? Their will they / won't they has been a major theme in the series since book 2 and not only for them but for all the characters. Feyre and Nesta struggled with the realization of the Elucien bond then finally came around to it. Az can't stand the scent of their bond, Cassian feels sad for Lucien's longing over his bond, Rhys is worried about the ramifications of Az trying to dick Lucien over because of the Elucien bond. To me, it's not something that can really continue lingering on in the background without resolution, not when every single character is talking about it / thinking about it. Not the way Gwynriel's romance could easily take a backseat and Sarah could give it a little more time to cook, add a little more drama to their setup.
With that said, I'm not Sarah so I have no idea if her thoughts are similar to my thoughts!

I feel like instead of fem! Stan being kicked out, she would be forced in an arranged marriage by filbrick WAY before she's even the legal age with some rich coot since she cost the family "milions"
I think it's a better narrative than her being simply not being kicked out, since logically it still retains the same element of her literally not being apart of the family since she got kicked out, and it would have other unsavory implications aswell since marriage back in the day for girls/woman was basically handing off ownership to the woman's husband (I know this is in the 1950-60's but lets be honest, some people definitely still have that old mindset)
Ford would NOT like this, atall
I see, I see. I'm gonna be honest, I still stand by the logic of my own version, but yours? I'd love to read as a fanfic. The arranged marriage trope ALWAYS has an iron grip on my balls. AND there's so many specific things I'd love to see here- because YES I agree, Ford would NOT like at all his beloved sister getting married off to someone (else)- but what would he do? Dare to protest? and with what arguments? Or would he repress his true feelings- and, still mad at Stan- try to convince himself this is a fair punishment for her, and an opportunity for him to put a drastic, forced end to his incestuous crush- by separation? Closing the curtains of his window, but this time as Stan gets picked up by car, off to meet her new fiancé? And what about Stan? because I can't imagine her passively accepting this fate. I'm guessing this is what prompts her to run far away, from the family that betrayed- and especially Ford. EVEN IF, being hungry for angst, I'd also enjoy to bend the rules a bit, and have Stan protest at first but then, seeing even Ford- the person she loves the most- turning his back on her- feeling so depressed, discouraged, so mind broken, she tells herself maybe she will never be good for anything, anyway, so she accepts becoming someone's possession and housewife. You know, until Ford finally decides to fucking do something. But again- the possibilities are endless.

The Green family dynamics are so interesting because like, Viserys is the father but due to his decay he seems more like the grandfather, whereas Otto is the Grandsire but seems to fill out the role of a father more, not only to his daughter but also her children, so he and his daughter are a mother/father unit but in some situations Alicent is treated like a sibling to her children (by Otto) and then you have the obvious Helaena/Aegon happening (siblings who are also husband/wife and mother/father to their children), but at the same time it seems like Aemond is the one trying to be the family's protector and attempting to step up as patriarch, with some of the scenes between him and Alicent giving off the vibes of equals rather than Mother and Son (like when they discuss Aemond finding Aegon) and his relationship with Aegon seeming like he's the big brother and not the other way around, in this essay I will-

Okay, I'll start with what you said at the end because this is a dumpster fire of gotchas, ad hominems, assumptions and fallacies.
Bad faith VS Good Faith:
A good faith argument is an honest attempt to persuade the other person to your way of thinking, without the use of fallacies. You lay out the points and explain why you're right.
A bad faith argument is at its core an attempt to antagonize the other person, aka: arguing for the sake of arguing. This usually involves personal attacks, putting words in other peoples mouths, not addressing what was actually said, engaging in personal insults, or otherwise wasting their time and energy on someone who doesn't actually want to understand.
If you're struggling with making a good faith argument, a simple list of things to go through:
No logical fallacies
You cannot start with the assumption that the other person is not able to understand your points. (because in this case you would have no reason to argue)
Do not assume that the other person is being disingenuous with what they say. You are a person on a screen, you don't know whats going on in their head. Address what your opponent says.
Don't put words in their mouth. Eg:'You might even say...#I'm being a bit hysterical!' 'She's a brainless sucker, through and through. She fell for my trap'
Take for example, what you said.
You made up a hypothetical person, and we established that this is a bad person. That is fair, made up people can be assigned to represent badness, for the sake of argument.
The problem then is that you converged this made up person with an actual human being. This made up person, who you can unequivocally state to be bad (all of their thoughts, opinions and actions are entirely made up by you) is equated with someone who's thoughts opinions and motivations you do not know.
This is a fallacy. You made up a figure, wrote them to have a bias, and then purposefully mirrored their actions to a real person to imply they are one and the same. They are not. One is made up.
'I'm not a trans woman, but I consider myself qualified to speak on their oppression, even when most trans women disagree with me.'-
In the screenshotted post, they did not speak on trans women's experiences with oppression, or assume how those are. All they did was state that transfeminism should not assume the experience of non-transfems. Literally, the thing you're saying is bad? They did not do so in this screenshot, however several aspects of the thing they are criticising do.
'Even if it leads me to consider every single critique'
The original poster listed out the types of critiques they were considering as bad faith. And they were (assuming they are honest) correct. Taking the things they said they stated as 'complaining about trans women' is bad faith. I just listed how it was.
'it does not readily occur to me that my personal standards of what constitutes 'good faith' are not the same for trans women as they are for everyone else!'
This is something you can state about your hypothetical figure, but when you apply it to the screenshotted person, that is a fallacy, because within what they said, they were correct that those things were bad faith, and they are, universally so. Within what they said, you cannot assume they would apply lighter standards to TME people. If they were lying, you can provide evidence of such.
'Instead, I attack the things that are associated with trans women'
Something being associated with a minority does not make it bigoted to critique. See earlier example of terfs, or what israel is doing atm. If you are stating that this is your hypothetical person's motivation, you cannot apply it to OP- because it is a fantasy of yours, not theirs.
'instead of 'trans women' I say 'perisex trans people', or 'the trans community'.
See above mention of assigning traits and motivations to a hypothetical figure in order to be able to pretend they reflect on the person you are arguing with.
'Someone else is likely to take my place and insist that, rather than a critique of rhetoric, she is playing into identity politics.'
This is quite interesting, because its the first decent point you've made. Hive mind mentality is bad. This is why callout posts are probably a decent solultion. However in order to do so, you must take a screenshot of something actually bad, rather than theorising and fantasising about their motivations over a logically solid statement.
, she's forced to defend herself the same way TERFs do
If you have a valid point, you are not forced to state that your opponent is wrong on the basis that the ideology they are critiquing is majoritively followed by a minority. Its a weak and stupid argument, and if its your only option, frankly thats on you.
'She's a brainless sucker, through and through. She fell for my trap
Its kind of insane that you (in your own hypothetical) create a character who uses harmful rhetoric, and positions this as the fault of the person who is being criticised by that rhetoric.
I don't want to defend this person, as obviously, I am operating from a lot less context than you are, but they are right in this specific case, you are objectively making a bad faith argument.
You could make your point in a better way, by addressing things that are wrong with what they said, pointing out why its wrong, or outlining the benefits to the tme/tma binary, rather than stating criticism of it is transmisogynistic.
Tumblr media
I don't complain about trans women! i just call them bioessentialist, intersexist, bad faith, zero nuance, indistinguishable from cisfeminists, who deny that transmasculine people are oppressed. if they had a brain they'd know i don't complain about them! DUH!

just watched the barbie movie everyone was discoursing about last year and I can't help but feel like a lot of the problems in its execution could have been avoided if the kid character's arc had been about learning to embrace girly stuff as an act of rebellion against the adultification of teen girls while barbie went full butch transmasc
#deerchatter#i know why they didn't do that obvs the writers haven't a fucking clue what a feminism is and the bosses prefer it that way#but it's fun to think about what a good version of the premise could have looked like. there were interesting pieces on the board#the kid character could have been interesting if her arc had been about rejecting barbie bc of increasing awareness of the association#between femininity and weakness. but in wanting to gain respect she started acting and dressing like a young woman because she's at that age#where girls begin to be rewarded for being a more subdued and quote-unquote natural kind of feminine.#she could have become friends with barbie as a symbolic way to heal her inner child#meanwhile barbie takes the you-can-be-anything message to its logical extreme and decides what she wants to be is the one thing mattel will#never let her be: gender non-conforming#these 2 character arcs and where they intersect could have told the same story much better i think#emphasis on personal choice/growing up/social rebellion/embracing what will really make you happy#while also covering multiple ways to handle gendered expectations. pick out the parts you like or throw the whole gender out. both r good!#anyway i have to admit this movie was disappointing. i knew it wasn't gonna be woke but i thought it would still be a bit more fun ....#was hoping for a guilty pleasure kind of experience but even setting aside that hard thematic fumble it's underwhelming :(

i feel rly sad and conflicted abt one of my best friends on earth but idk who to ask for advice bc i usually would have consulted her in this situation lmao
#shes cool and i dont want to lose her and i know Logically i love her but atm i feel so strange towards her#and idk what to do abt it bc i know in the past ive like...over-communicated a lot and over the last few yrs ive been trying to not do that#bc thats an anxious impulse i think .so like . self control#AND IMPORTANTLY . i may actually be the problem here ?? ok again i love her i dont want to lose her etc but basically ive noticed a pattern#which is that whenever she gets a bf/a man (even fwb) in her life she basically stops talking to me and the limited interactions we do have#become abt him. and while i support her it is acc too much. like we barely talked while she was w her ex bf until he became abusive and#then we talked a lottt like all our convos understandably were abt him . and then when they broke up we kept hanging out so i didnt rly see#the pattern there but still she seemed to centre men a lot in her life like sbe was excited to not date and find herself and then#immediately afterwards started seeing this other guy with whom shes basically in a relationship now#hes nice and all but like . HES ALL SHE TALKS ABT . actually we barely talk atp but when we do its abt him#she sends me reels sometimes but its all abt being jealous abt him etc . and shes bi but she said she doesnt like the idea of dating women#bc theyre scary . and i thought she was kidding in the ohhh women r so beautiful that theyre intimidating way but no she was being entirely#fr . she explained jts bc she was bullied by a girl in the past but like...bro ur ex bf literally abused you like surely you see men are#capable of just as much harm? but obvs who she dates is her own choice . but anyway she has consistently made plans w me then cancelled the#like an hr before . or asked to call me and then proceeded to not do so . when i ask her to meet/call its the same she just doesnt respond#or she cancels ? and while i understand anxiety sucks it feels SO WEIRD STILL . maybe im the problem slightly too bc ik i have no right to#feel this way but it rubs me the wrong way that ik she has so much time to spend w him/calls him all the time despite meeting him just a fe#months ago whereas i just have to like ...be ok w not actually having talked to her for a long time#its gotten to the point where when she says do you wanna meet/call i automatically respond yes and then just assume it doesnt happen . like#there have been several times over the past few months i double booked plans over when we were supposed to call/meet bc i was sure she#wouldnt show up and ive been right each time#like she sends me texts that she misses me or im her best friend etc etc occasionally and then acts rly . contrary to that ?#ive talked to her abt the issue w cancelling on me twice btw. when i was still dating the situationship person she would get sooo mad at#them for not respecting my time and shed tell me i deserve better etc etc and then like . she doesnt seem to respect my time at all#anyway she said she understand and she admits to like...being flaky etc but does nothing abt it#and its not like i can tell her to stop caring so much abt men bc we sorta had convos like that b4 she got This involved w this guy#and apparently it did nothing and the last thing i want is to police her relationships or get in her way#its just AUSHD AUGH#anyway i rly miss her it just doesnt feel the same at all anymore

screaming into the void <3
#my best friends boyfriend (who i’ve also been friends with for years) is just. not himself rn#we think it’s a manic episode but we don’t really know but it’s. terrifying lowkey#he thinks he’s genuinely jesus and that he’s conquered time and that he and my bsf are adam and eve#he’s been sending my bsf liek hundreds of texts per day since tuesday but it got really really bad and incoherent yesterday#and i woke up this morning to see multiple texts from gcs he created w me in them#and he keeps being like ‘because it’s 6:20 this is true’ and like ‘i know that at 9 pm everyone is gonna understand’#and he’ll text like 5 times then send a sc of what he just texted like that proves something but it’s all nonsense#i’m just really really concerned cause he really needs help but i don’t know how to ensure that happens cause he’s 19. not a minor#he’s just. not him rn. he’s called my bsf multiple times yesterday when he HATES calling normally#he had his band and his mom over in his apartment yesterday cause my bsf called his mom and h went to his bands show but was visibly not ok#and he saw nothing weird about it even tho he hates having ppl over normally and never without warning#and you can’t get him to see logic because everything you say he just twists around to work for him#to be clear it was not this bad when it started. when it started it seemed like normally maybe slightly out there conclusions he was drawing#but it just got worse and worse like exponential decay and really bad yesterday#he also didn’t sleep at all yesterday night and idk if he slept tonight#i know his mom took his phone at one point but he texted me and gcs w me in it starting at like 6:20 this morning#and my bsf and i and friends are on a trip out of state rn but we’re leaving today and i don’t wanna wake her up until i have to because#this is literally hell for her. but it’s just. scary. i don’t know what to do. i don’t think there’s any good options really for me rn#i want to warn ppl and try to explain he’s Not Him rn so they don’t get concerned but who knows if they’ll understand what i’m trying to say#i know it’s not the end of the world but it really feels like the end of my world as i know it if that makes sense#and my bsf lives with him in an apartment near their college and they just signed the lease for the next year#but she can’t stay there with him alone. not until he gets help. we’re all too scared it’s going in the directon where he thinks it’s better#for ppl to go to the afterlife. which like he never would normally. but he’s Not Him and so like. who knows#he keeps talking about all these different dimensions and how you need to travel to the 7th dimension to understand#my bsf was crying yesterday and she called her mom to explain and she keeps saying that she just wants her jake back it’s really scary#cause he will probably never be the same again. he’ll be similar but different but she wants his comfort but he’s Not Him. and can’t give it#i just. really want this to get better but it’s so hard to see that happening rn

Hey! So your take is insane!
Before anything else your arguments are terrible you are not referencing any official media you are just referencing your own biased work and one out of context photo from the game.
His murder of his sister was not an impulsive decision
First off, contrary to what you were saying he was in fact restrained by his sister
Tumblr media
The both of them are grabbing each other in this photo as you can see. And if you were being grabbed, the first thing you have to do to get away, which is probably what sunny was trying to do is to get them off of you, and the most effective way to do that is to push them.
Secondly, like you said he would’ve been overwhelmed and the situation he’s in is one that would trigger a fear response, your fight flight or freeze, fear responses are not conscious decisions, they’re not even made on impulse but on pure survival instinct, and when you can’t run, like when you’re restrained, you will fight back. as someone who is trained in dealing with life or death situations situations (a lifeguard) you are trained to protect yourself from those who are drowning because sometimes people do dangerous things because they aren’t thinking at all, let alone rationally
Thirdly, the intent matters so much here, he did not intend to kill her, obviously, he didn’t even intend to get her to fall, he wanted her off of him so he could be left alone. He did not know how much force he put into that push he did not know what would happen if she fell, as he never intended it, and he of course didn’t intend for her to die. Because he is 12 and that is his sister and he loved her more than anything.
I also have a question for you. Is this consistent pattern of assholery your referencing able to be explained by him being shy, him trying to repress his trauma, or a reaction to the immense pressure his sister put him under, because that is all I can think of from the game itself. Remember the sunny ending is the canon one, the hikkikomori endings are the players own decision.
And before we move onto Jimmy, quick development fact! Up until you’re about 25 you do not make decisions with the logical part of your brain basically at all! You make it with your amygdala, the emotional side, so adding onto the fact sunny is, again 12 (really weird of you to persecute this 12 year old like that but I digress) AND in a fight or flight situation AND has animosity against his sister BECAUSE of the recital which is what they were fighting about mind you. I can perfectly see where that mistake would come from and how it 1 wasn’t a conscious decision on his part and 2 not at all even close to his intentions 3 something he clearly regrets, that regret fuels the whole game.
Jimmys “mindset of irrationality” starts at the very least after the ship crashes when he’s afraid of the responsibility he has to take for his actions, so after the rape of Anya and after he consciously (as he had to veer the ship towards the asteroid and turn off the autopilot) crashed the ship and liedto everyone about who had done it and what had happened because curly couldn’t defend his case, he also consciously told daisuke to crawl through the vent to get Anya even through his apprehension and actively mocks and hedumanizes everyone on the ship due to his egoist and selfish nature, and he never shows an ounce of regret even once.
I do not see how you view this prepubescent child, and a monster with a horrific record of this behaviour who does nothing but continue it on the same regard but whatever
Sunny is forgivable because he was a child who was not in a good rational mindset and made an impulsive decision with much more dire consequences than anticipated
Jimmy is not forgivable because he was an adult who had to make several conscious decisions to do what he did and does nothing but repeat his horrible behaviour
Both games are about forgiveness but two completely different ends of that spectrum. Omori is about how forgiveness can be healing and help those recover, and mouthwashing is about how sometimes forgiveness does nothing but enable horrible people to continue their abusive behaviour

everyone is sooo in love with vakori on account of le is so cool and smart and deeply pragmatic and is also completely batshit insane
#oc#monochrome#sketch#velan#vakori#rocaim#rocaim and vakori are rex and taz and adder and silas's parents#adder and silas get their looks from vakori; rex and taz to a slightly lesser degree get it from rocaim#rex specifically is like a sharper clone of him. fucks velan up all the time because their personalities are completely totally different#rocaim was very like. gentle and understanding. good with kids and well-liked by basically everyone. a very effective mediator#rex is obviously none of those things lmao. every time he says something particularly insensitive it surprises her for like six years runni#anyway rocaim is in love wtih vakori. velan is in love with vakori. vakori is aro as they come but insanely pragmatic#like. ok le's based loosely off my ex. like. so le's SCARY pragmatic. so fucking cool about it everyone with a brain is specifically like#'woag oh my god le's so pragmatic im in love with her'. anyway eventually le's like 'hi rocaim. here are the objective reasons that i think#that if we got married it would mean i had better standing and more power in the organization we're both committed to. would you be#opposed to possibly getting married with me on the grounds that it would get me respect and power' and rocaim. who is already head over#heels for ler specifically because le makes these kinds of decisions and sees with this kind of logic is like. Absolutely. 100%#then for the next four years of their formal engagement people keep taking rocaim aside and being like hey... i have bad news...#...that leya you're engaged to... le's not romantically interested in you the same way you're romantically interested in ler... le only#wants you because you're an Ath and le wants a voice in the interclan meetsings... and then when Rocaim is like yeah i know#thats why i want to marry ler isnt that like the sexiest fucking reasoning you've EVER heard. no one gets it but velan#who is also in love with ler for the same reasons but has no such claims to power#and who also is not equipped for a polycule nor willing to try to go behind rocaim's back because unfortunately for her. she is also in lov#with rocaim. me when im in love with my friend and my friend's wife and also i'm pretty sure they both reciprocate but they're both#married and i dont really know what to do about it and also all three of us are very Traditional and that is not the Tradition:#and then they both die and she never quite deals with that.#but she DOES get to raise their (surviving) kids :) most of whom are fucking nightmares#life is so difficult for velan. like actually#closerverse#cv

Tbh the whole metal sonic having a hedgehog oc thing is honestly so good. Yes. The murder robot also deserves the joy of dressing up as a character she made. Reminds me of those sonic ocs that edgy kids used to make that were basically just like. emoer amy rose or something. And I mean that with the most love in the world cause i was one of them kids. He is kinda just an edgy kid too. They deseve the freedom
She literally is my emoer Amy Rose from when I was like nine she is just also in universe Metal Sonic's emoer Amy Rose. (her outfit is actually very vaguely meant to resemble classic amy's since like, metal cares about like three or four people enough to remember them by name and amy is one of them bc, y’know, sonic cd, she considers amy one of the few living things that was useful to her bc she used her as bait she is in universe literally designed after amy rose bc metal was trying to exploit sonic's heroism for like literally two minutes until they started bantering.)

You make some compelling arguments, love it! The Volantis stuff is...complicated by "canon" Resonant standards, but I could see a version where Volantis managed to successfully betray (or stonewall) their mysterious warlock allies into letting them have sole possession of their stolen dragonrider/PTWP for a while, especially if they expect there are more coming--they can let Volantis have one, if it makes it easier to obtain more, and perhaps they don't quite have the same resources they do in Resonant so they're more reliant on Volantis anyway.
Summerhall isn't a physical doorway, so I think Rhaegal would end up in whatever dragon had hatched for Jon here? It could be that there are other young dragons on Volantis's possession, depending on whether Jon's presence was enough to kickstart a few into hatching, though obviously they need riders still.
Assuming this Jon is Rhea's own child, she probably told him about his twin brothers, so vet!Jon has some memories of that, enough to know that he has two "Redfort" brothers hidden away in the Vale. Once he escapes Volantis, that's a logical destination, and he could easily slot in for Daemon in terms of the rescue. The boys have their hatchling eggs and their trauma, and Jon has new siblings: one who reminds him of his Stark siblings, albeit eerily like him rather than with the Tully coloring, and one who reminds him of Dany.
And then, like you said, the only "safe" place Jon can think of is the middle of a warzone. baby!Jon probably wasn't as ruthless as Resonant!Jon, so he doesn't get his ribs/arm broken in a nighttime attack on Crayne and probably lacks the paranoia to hide his bronze knife to begin with. So vet!Jon barebacks his way to the Stepstones with them, a grueling 6-day flight, where he has to hunt for food to feed them (maybe that's where he meets new!Ghost? and somehow communicates to him that he'll come for him later).
And then congratulations Daemon, it's a boy! Three boys! All of them uniquely traumatized! And the eggs hatch for additional chaos, and Daemon goes from one heart attack to another. (BAREBACK on a dragon? For SIX days? WHAT IF THEY'D FALLEN?) Since there's hard evidence of vet!Jon being Rhea's son, that lets him make the argument that the twins were as well, similarly hidden away. (Heck, he might even assume that himself!)
vet!Jon would be so perfect for ruling Runestone. Like, yes, he's gonna have to deal with a regent and it's not like being a lord is a vacation, but for Jon it kind of is? He's been a wartime leader, forced to make ruthless wartime decisions over and over. Runestone is a place where he can build and heal, while also preparing for an uncertain future.
And all those dynamics you mentioned! I am so curious how things would develop with the twins and him. vet!Jon and Daemon would be fascinating, because you have Jon Royce's own years in captivity that they have to reckon with, and vet!Jon is also very independent? And protective. (Imagine being the twins and trying to get anything past either him or Daemon.) And poor vet!Jon dealing with teenage hormones all over again, and all those complicated feelings that come with it.
(I wonder if Viserys sees more of Jaehaerys in Jon than Baelon, given how grim/unforgiving he must seem to him.)
So I have another "what if" prompt that is very out of left field. Jon gets brought back as his 14 year old self in the 8 year old body (same as Rhaegar) only he's not the only version of himself that the got Summerhalled. They managed to grab 19 year old war vet Jon who is transported into the actual conception child Rhea and Daemon would have had. Rhaegal and Ghost come with (he doesn't get an emotional support twin so he gets 2 service pets to compensate). He's the one who stops in and saves the twins and inadvertently helps sell Daemon's fiction that the twins are true born because he is literally an older version of Jon.
This ask predates Restoration AU, I think, which is funny because it's sort of a reverse Restoration AU? Two Jons but in Resonant era, and one of them the same age as Winterfell!Jon in Restoration, while the other is the nineteen-year-old vet version.
I don't think the math quite works out for 19-year-old Jon to be the consummation baby of Daemon and Rhea's marriage unless he's a few years younger in the Dance era, and Daemon wouldn't have abandoned a trueborn son (nor would early marriage Rhea have hidden him). Maybe it works if he's 14, aka born 3 years into Daemon's marriage with Rhea, when she was much more embittered against him, though again we have to handwave that Rhea was willing to hide an actual trueborn son when Jaehaerys himself was still alive!
The logistics of Rhaegal suddenly appearing in the world would certainly be...interesting. Vet!Jon would have to be pretty clever with his explanation there! Once the Volantis shenanigans are known to him, maybe he can claim that he was kidnapped by them as a child and only recently escaped/returned to Westeros.
