Yesterday my gf and I adopted a cat. An adorable little boy, three years old according to the refuge, and they said he was sociable ++ but DAMN that is one CUDDLY cat.

I'm writing this with him on my lap. He's there because his previous resting spot, my gf's lap, is now occupied by her laptop because she has to work.

He's purring. He purred all night. He has the bluest eyes I've ever seen. I love him with all my heart.

We named him Mr Darcy

im tucked into bed and it’s raining and im just thinking about softly threading your fingers through astarion’s hair, careful to slow down for any knots (that he would deny ever existed in the first place), his head heavy on your chest. he doesn’t sleep. he doesn’t really need this. none of those deep and soothing breaths of his will ever devolve into soft snores. his eyes are fluttered shut by choice, not necessity. he could be doing so much more with these dark hours — wandering the streets, hunting for blood, seeing the world even if it’s no longer in color like he’d experienced with the tadpole. precious time void of sunlight he should be taking full advantage of.

but he’d rather be here, with you. in bed.

because he didn’t fall in love with the world, even basked in sunlight and a realm of possibilities presented to him.

no, he fell in love with you.

you, with a smile that outshone the sun even on your dimmest days. you, with eyes brighter than the entirety of the galaxy’s stars. you, who’d found a way to sink warmth beneath his skin that he hadn’t felt for over two centuries. a warmth he may have never even been acquainted with, in all honesty. he can’t remember. he doesn’t care to remember.

the world can wait.

for right now, astarion just wants his love. there will be an eternity to rediscover what the night has to offer — there is no guarantee of how long you’ll offer him this shelter between your arms.

AU where charles and edwin ended up inexplicably working in (read: using the materials of) a craft store to try and bring some more artistic joy to their lives-after-death (sparked by a recently met Crystal telling them they need to be more rounded and no, edwin, spending your entire afterlife in a library wont solve the problem of you being completely ignorant towards every art and creative subject there is beyond literature).

edwin and his thick knitting needles and soft, cozy balls of yarn, bundled up near the window in a scarf and a thick wollen jumper, attracts the attention of a sleepy cat king, drowsy after a day of negotiating territories with a neighbouring cat ruler. surely the pretty boy with a soft bed of yarn on his lap wouldnt object to a feline friend taking a nap with him in the calm atmosphere hes created?

sometimes i wonder if you put my rabbit in a pen with loads of other white furred blue eyed dwarf rabbits would i be able to recognise her. cuz i mean shes just a rabbit. but then i remember the face she makes when shes scared or naughty or when youve just woken her up. the stain of her feet after years of never properly cleaning them. her eyes with gunk all in them because of her old age. and on the topic of age, all her whiskers she never had as a bunny. and i just hope that i would be able to spot her in a pile of other rabbits just like her because i just want her to know how much i love her

despite my allergies i have still considered getting a cat tbh. i love dogs but they kinda demand attention in a way that cats just don't. cats are slightly more self-sufficient creatures (like, emotionally) and crucially, you don't need to walk them outside every single day. also they're smaller and generally cost less and they're such cute lil guys and obviously they're very fun to play with but i would truly need to figure out some kind of allergy solution because my throat will close up if im exposed to too much Cat Essence 😔
