The one with Alya salt

Well I'm doing this to say screw TA. May as well prove I don't think I'm any better. Here is the story based on the summary that still holds my brain hostage. Sorry in advance Flight, please don't read this.

The first time Alya and Adrien got together Marinette had been inconsolable. Faybon went after her only to find Tikki holding the earrings and looking incredibly upset. She'd been akumatised and, despite Faybon doing what he could to keep Tikki safe, it wasn't long before Chat Noir lay defeated. Alright, maybe Faybon took a little too much joy in Adrien's utter despair when he realised exactly why Ladybug wasn't coming to fix his mistakes this time. And maybe he could have actually worn the earrings and transformed like Tikki begged him too at one point. Still, he knew he couldn't let this go any further lest he risk Hawk Moth winning and doing something Bunnyx couldn't reverse. So, Faybon did the only thing he could do in this situation, he had Tikki distract the Akuma while he ran to Chat Noir, cataclysm still burning with its destructive energy. Poor kitty didn't even notice when it was pressed against Faybon's head, killing him near instantly.

The second time the two got together was just after they graduated Francois Dupont. Maybe that was the wrong way of putting it. After all, Alya and Nino were still a couple, it had just been a sex thing at first. Then they invited Marinette and, while she agreed just to be with Adrien, Faybon could see there was a part of her that was upset they wouldn't be each other's firsts. Naturally, Faybon was upset and confronted Alya about it only to be brushed off saying it was all taken care of and at least they were together now right? Needless to say, Faybon snapped. Even watching it back Bunnyx couldn't tell if it was the Akuma that made him wrap his hands around Alya's neck or if it was his own choice. Either way, when he did turn, he became the second Akuma the time traveler became terrified of. Considering Chat Blanc was the first and had completely annihilated Paris, the moon and had threatened to wipe out the universe? Faybon did not want to see the rest of that story.

The third time Alya and Adrien got together Faybon knew what to look out for. He dragged the two of them to the top of the Eiffel Tower and asked them flat out what was going on. After admitting the truth, they didn't have any time to explain themselves or make excuses before Faybon turned and jumped. It was at that point that Bunnyx decided not to inform Faybon about these particular resets, and there were definitely more to come.

The majority of them ended up with either Marinette or Faybon akumatised, others had Ladybug so upset that she wasn't able to focus and, when she tried to turn to Chat for comfort only to find out he had moved on? She gave up. Chat Noir tried to keep up the fight on his own but it couldn't last, they were a team and had only managed so far because they were a good one. Those timelines always needed to be reset before Hawk Moth got his hands on the ring and could make his wish otherwise there was nothing Bunnyx could do.

The one time they'd managed to win, to beat HawkMoth and retrieve Nooru and Dusuu, Chat Noir was heartbroken to find out it was his father behind all this and the reason why. He had reached out to Ladybug then, just as he detransformed, only for her to turn away and tell him to go cry to his girlfriend. Then she left, the other two Miraculous in tow, before her own transformation ended. Adrien did tell Alya, and she did comfort him, but the coldness he felt from his lady had hurt more than he ever could have imagined. About a week later Chloe was the one who spilled the beans on Marinette leaving for New York, finally taking her mother up on the offer. Chloe was obviously upset but the rest of the class was ecstatic to find out she was chasing her dreams. At least they were until they found out just how soon she was leaving, and that she hadn't been planning to tell them.

Faybon was the one who saved her there. Explaining how she wasn't sure she would be able to leave all her friends behind if they'd decided to throw her a going away party. Of course that didn't mean he wasn't going to tell them and had intended to do so once he'd gotten her agreement to meet him somewhere the night before she had to leave. The party was still epic and they still encouraged Marinette to go, even meeting her at the airport to see her off. Nobody noticed her earrings were missing and, if they had, she would have told them they were in luggage with the rest of her jewelry.

Marinette had handed the miracle box to Faybon to look after, despite his insistence that she take it with her. That, if getting it to New York was the problem, she could just take Kaalki with her and use her powers to come back and grab them. That's when she told him he was going to look after Tikki too. He managed to convince her to at least keep the earrings until she left, or rather to tell Ladybug to hold onto the earrings, and for the kwamis to stay with her since they already knew how to hide in her room anyway. Besides, he was going to need something other than a sewing kit to keep the box in, it would look incredibly suspicious in his room after all. That had gotten Marinette to laugh at least.

Time passed and Ladybug told Chat that they weren't needed anymore so, while she wouldn't be asking for the ring back, he needed to be aware that they weren't going to meet again. Once again Chat asked who she was but she only smiled sadly and said "Ladybug" before leaving. When it came time to hand over the earrings she hesitated, Faybon said she could still keep them but she shook her head and said she didn't know what he'd think when he found out who Ladybug really was. Faybon just rolled his eyes saying, if that's all it was, then she could have Tikki bring them over, or he could meet the kwami in Marinette's room.

When she still hesitated, Faybon let out a sigh and hugged her. He promised that, should there ever be a sign of trouble that needed Ladybug herself, he'd put on Kaalki and go straight to New York to give Tikki back. Marinette dropped the transformation before returning the hug, tears in her eyes. She didn't ask how long he'd known, it didn't seem to matter, she was just grateful he knew how much they meant to her. That didn't stop him from bringing the kwamis to the airport in order to see her off as well. She was still the guardian after all, there were too many happy memories for her to want to give that up, and no way Faybon was going to let her.

Time passed and everyone went their own way, still keeping in contact as much as possible. Every week Faybon would use Fluff to hand out the kwamis to their holders so they could all hang out together for the day, he would have used Kaalki but that would have caused trouble getting Pegasus and would require a lot of apple slices while they were still young. Fluff, on the other hand, didn't have a one time only limit and allowed the holders to get around any schedules they had set up for the day, once they consented to wearing a blindfold at least. 

Afterwards he'd send the kwamis to Marinette. That took a little more finesse. First he'd transform with Kaalki and send Fluff through. A few hours later he'd open the portal again and get Fluff back. Then he'd transform with Fluff, rewind time back to just before he opened the portal and send the kwamis directly to New York via the burrow. Then he'd fast forward until the portal opened again and Fluff left before gathering the kwamis again. That happened twice before Marinette asked why he didn't just come through the portal with Kaalki and spend the time there? Suffice to say, he really felt stupid after that.

Faybon filled her in on how things were in Paris, the kwamis told her what they got up to with their holders and Tikki filled her in on how Plagg and Chat Noir were doing. In return Marinette told them all about how things were going with her designs, what the heroes were getting up to and the time she spent with Aeon and Jess. Even brought up how Sparrow wanted her to use a new Miraculous briefly but turned her down. She was still Ladybug, with or without the earrings, and it didn't feel right using another Miraculous. This then led into a discussion of other Miracle Boxes and guardians and whether it would be possible to meet up with those kwamis as well, something Tikki and the others hadn't really done since they were first made.

Overall this timeline would have been fine, it wasn't the complete happy ending it could have been but everything could have stayed on track. Faybon would have akumatised TimeTagger and sent him back to the past so none of that changed, he would have brought Marinette back with Kaalki and then given her Fluff to give to Alex so that Bunnyx would still exist and everything would be fine. All except one thing, Duusu. With no need, or desire, to create a sentimonster, Faybon would be unable to sense amoks. This meant that Adrien and Kagami would never discover their true nature and never truly be free from those who knew the truth. So, as sad as it was, once she made that discovery, Bunnyx needed to reset the timeline again. After all, with Adrien keeping a hold on Plagg, letting the knowledge of his amok remain secret was way too dangerous.

Sure she could have told Faybon and things might have worked out but the time traveler wasn't sure she trusted him. Sure Bunnyx knew that he would do whatever she asked to keep the timeline on track, even if he didn't like the constant interruptions, but something about Alya had always rubbed him the wrong way. Knowing that Adrien was a sentimonster and that the amok controlling him was in the rings she wore around her neck? Honestly she wouldn't be surprised if he assumed Alya already knew and was doing it on purpose. He'd probably akumatise himself if that were to happen.

Looking through the timeline once again, hoping that she could catch a glimpse of what the future held, or maybe whatever it was that served to piss him off to begin with, eventually she had to give it up as a lost cause. Especially when neither Marinette or Faybon moved on. Marinette even refused to come to the wedding, stating business issues. Which, while completely legitimate, as Adrien was quick to point out, still prompted a grumble from the bride to be about best friends and secrets. Needless to say, Faybon promptly walked out of the cafe where the group was meeting up. This prompted another eye roll before Rose pointed out that he left his invitation behind. Something that Adrien tried to return in person only to be pulled into a hug and told how oblivious he was.

And that was more or less how it ended. Faybon did cave to Adrien's pleading but refused to be part of the main table or the ceremony in any way. After that though, the one other person who still liked him both inside and outside the mask drifted away and, thanks to him being a paradox, was slowly forgotten about. Bunnyx had had enough at that point and rewound until years before they attended lycee. Finding little Adrien out and about on a snowy day she nudged a little pile of slush off the roof so that it landed on his head. It wouldn't change his personality but instead reinforced his desire to cover up. Which would lessen the chance of Alya finding herself physically attracted to the model before she got trapped with Nino.

With a final sigh Bunnyx sat back and watched as multiple timelines rapidly became overwritten. Who knows, maybe this time Faybon wouldn't hate Alya so much. Or at least she could figure out why, dealing with that issue would make her job so much easier. She wished she could bring him in and ask though but that had also ended a few timelines so was no longer a good idea. She did miss the popcorn he made though.

Nino salt prompt: What if Rocketear had consequences

Basically, everything that happens in Rocketear happens the exact same way (Nino assuming the worst of Alya, Nino assuming Chat Noir is Ariana Grande, Nino breaking Ladybug's AND Alya's trust at the same time by revealing his/Alya's identity to Adrien, Nino slut shaming Adrien to his face on accident) except the very end of the episode, where Alya tells Nino she is now Rena Furtive.

Instead, Alya tries to reassure Nino that she will always love him no matter what, while lightly asking him "hey, you followed me to my house without permission and took a video of me without my knowledge, wtf?!"

Nino then proceeds to show his ass like usual ("I needed to protect you from that homewreaker!" "I'm your boyfriend so it's perfectly okay for me to stalk you!!").

Alya really dosen't like this side of Nino, so she asks if their relationship can go on break for a bit (and Nino tries to manipulate her more with his "you don't love me!!!" Shtick)

The next day at school, Adrien pulls Alya aside and jokingly asks her "hey, are you Rena Rouge haha lol".

Alya is horrified.

Adrien then gives Alya the full story: Nino wanted to convince Adrien that Chat Nior had seduced Alya and revealed their identities as proof that Alya was only now kerping secrets. Adrien wanted to forget he heard anything, but he decided to ask Alya anyway because he knew what Nino had done wasn't right.

Alya is now infuriated. She can't believe Nino had the gall to be upset about her secrets only for him to go behind her back and violate her privacy this way. Especially since what Nino just did puts his identity at risk!

Alya thanks Adrien for being honest with her. After school, she marches straight to Marinette's house and tells her everything. Alya thought her best friend would be even angrier than she had been.

Marinette is heartbroken when she hears the scoop. How could someone she trusts do that, especially after what happened with Chloe. Marinette decides that Nino news a new secret identity since Carapace has been compromised, but Alya orders her to cut him loose. Nino can't be trusted.

When Ladybug pulls Nino aside and tells him he can't be Carapace anymore because he revealed his identity, the only thing he feels is surpise. The boy really didn't think this was a possibility.

The realization eventually sets in and he gets akumatized. He becomes Shell Shocker and goes after Adrien for "ruining his relationships!" Adrien tries to encourage Nino to give up the akuma, but then Nino reveals he willingly accepted Hawkmoths deal... this is who he really is.

Ladybug, whith some assistance from Rena Furtive, takes him down. Nino tries to play it off, "oh uh, i was akumatized??? Thanks for saving me Ladybug!" But Adrien shuts him down right quick, "He's lying! He willingly accepted the akuma just to get back at his girlfriend!" Adrien calling him out like that takes Nino by surpise, but it's the least of his worries.

Alya secretly recorded the whole fight and posted it onto the Ladyblog. Everybody in Paris now knows who Nino truly is. All of his friendships are destroyed; Marinette and Adrien cut him off for good; and Alya finnaly dumps him. His family decides to leave Paris for his own good.

At the airport, Nino has a chance encounter with Chloe. "Well well well, if it isn't the loser who got exposed for working with Hawkmoth! Even when I did that fashion victim a favor, I made sure that nobody in Paris could see I made a deal with him. You're ridiculous, Lahiffe, utterly ridiculous!"

"Sh-shut up Chloe!" Nino stutters out.

"Waaa, shut up! God, even your insults are basic, bitch. Well, before you go, I have a new scoop for you Nino... News flash! Alya dosen't love you anymore, and it's all your fault!!! It's hilarious, utterly hilarious!"

When Nino finnaly gets to his new bedroom, he cries himself to sleep realizing that he ruined his own life because didn't think there would be consequences...

This ship could work. Alya and Adrien share a lot of the same values. They appreciate truthfulness and fair play, and they're always willing to give somebody the benefit of the doubt. They're both good at taking care of others, they're empathetic and can relate to problems people have, and they have enough understanding of how feelings work in general to know how to help somebody work through their current issue (as long as said person is truthful about what's bothering them).

They really know how to prop somebody up without coming across as condescending or just speaking platitudes. Alya and Adrien are very similar and there are a lot of parallels between them. However, they can also challenge each other. Adrien has repeatedly noticed Alya's attempts at matchmaking him and Marinette, but his trust in her causes him not to speculate on it too much. Adrien would be somebody who's able to keep up with Alya intellectually.

I have pointed this out before, but Kagami goes through a very similar arc to Adrien's in the original run of Miraculous, just with Adrien actually acting as her Plagg/Nino. I really liked Adrien taking what he had learned about finding his own path and what makes him happy and using that to teach Kagami to discovers herself in turn. The kindness Adrien received from the people who helped him is now being turned to Kagami through Adrien. That's not just thematic, that's outright poetic.

This is also why I hate that the New Adventures of Ladybug actually reversed this dynamic into Kagami somehow suddenly being an expert on self actualization and lecturing Adrien on it constantly, while Adrien is turned into an oblivious lout who has never been and could never be useful to anyone.

Do you think there's any good Adrien ships?

Yeah. I mean, I stopped watching the show around season 3 and even then I mostly just ignore stuff and do my thing so take this with a big grain of salt.

Adrinino is one of my favorites and was actually supposed to be the endgame in MD and one of the first ships.

Alyadrien is pretty cute too, but it honestly has more sibling dynamic rather than romantic.

ADRIGAMI how could I forget about that one. I really like it, very cute. They could be childhood sweethearts.

Lukadrien isn't a bad one either, I can see the appeal but it's not my thing. But that's probably because I only ship Luka with Marinette and Nino.

Not only that, but going off of production code order, he learned about Ladybug telling someone else her identity first?

So like--how does “Ladybug told someone else her identity” get seen as “nO, I unDerStaNd,” yet two temps knowing their identities get such a horrified reaction??

It’s like Adrien was only pretending to understand with Ladybug, or now he’s bitter specifically because he and Ladybug aren’t a couple who know their identities like Alya and Nino.

Did you noticed how many fics puts alya as background or just a villain? I tried to search for alyadrien fics and all I could find was 1-salt fics 2-fics that focused on ladybug 70% of the story or 3-the story is very offensive like in all ways both racist misogyny etc.

like why? It gets tiring and is not just with that ship ANY ship that has her included falls under those three or more.

Alya and Nino (more Alya imo but I can elaborate on that later, but both of them) are characters that I think people assume have a lot of content. They have to, right? They're such major characters in the show, both with a considerable amount of akumatized identities and at least one hero identity each, so they have to have a lot of content, right?

And that, I think, is what makes it so hard to find content for them. People tag them and their relationships without remorse because surely they must have a lot of content! Never do they engage with people who like the content, so they never see how much it's really lacking.

Most people who wrongfully tag ships or characters when they really aren't relevant enough to be tagged probably aren't writing these characters in insensitive ways. Plenty of them are, don't get me wrong. And there's definitely something to unpack with why so much of the fandom loves writing about Chloe but doesn't feel the same about writing Alya. But most of the time, mistagged fics aren't insensitive, they're just mistagged.

And then there are a lot of fics where Alya is the villain, for some reason. Usually because of Chameleon. Chameleon is one of the biggest catalysts to why Alya is so demonized. (The underlying cause, of course, is racism, but Chameleon is the catalyst.)

But yeah, you're absolutely right. The majority of what Alya is tagged in is at best a net zero to her character -- nothing is provided, nothing is taken away. It doesn't really treat her as a human being. And I'd say there's more positive than negative, but if you try to narrow it down to only what's relevant and within your tastes, you will be left with very few fics, and it's frustrating as all hell, because the fandom still has this perception of her, that she's one of the main characters and therefore must be one of the most popular!

....and then 90% of fics tagged with her name aren't relevant because people have no idea, and so the problem gets worse.

Ranking the latest S4 ML episodes

0So I’ve made two previous ranking lists, one for the first 9 episodes of ML S4 released, then for the next 5, so now I’m gonna rank the most recent 6 episodes: Hack-san, Simpleman, Dearest Family, Glaciator 2, Ephemeral, and Gabriel Agreste. Beware of spoilers!

6. Simpleman

No surprises here. This episode had “for little kids” stamped across it in flashing bright neon letters. Everyone else was dumbed down (which to be fair, is the akuma’s power) so the kindergarteners could save the day. It had some funny Marinette fantasies and a little Adrienette goodness, but overall it’s a very skippable episode.

5. Ephemeral

This one is hard to rank. I massively enjoyed it when it first came out, had a high for the rest of the day in fact, but there were some pretty massive downsides and things that didn’t work so well if you thought about them. A lot of individual moments worked well - Ladybug thinking Chat was joking about being Adrien was pretty funny, and I thought her trying to figure out who the “real” Adrien was, and gradually being able to see Adrien and Chat Noir as one, Adrien getting the zoomies after revealing his identity, Plagg trying to cataclysm Gabriel, and Astrochat and Cosmobug flying through space, but there were some pretty negative bits too.

Luka keeps it secret that he knows Adrien’s and Marinette’s identities for unknown reasons, even though it’s immediately relevant to the situation, and Marinette made a really messed-up plan, deciding to lie to her partner about wanting a full reveal in order to manipulate and trick him into revealing his identity to a third party and resetting everyone’s memories except for Luka’s using the Snake Miraculous, so Chat would never have a clue that she’d done any of it. I can’t say it’s out of character since it stems from regular character traits she’s had throughout the show (seriously I considered making a post, but I didn’t want to start a huge round of Marinette salt unprovoked), but it IS disappointing, and was bad enough to cause a lot of Lovesquare shippers to Abandon Ship, and even the show. 

I’m just hoping that the Ladynoir conflict helps bring Ladybug’s and Chat Noir’s relationship back into line, so it’s less lopsided than it is now.

4. Dearest Family

This episode was a victim of its own hype. It got a lot of teasers way in advance, plus it’s the 99th episode, leading into the much-hyped 100th episode and... it was a pretty normal episode. It had some funny Ladybug moments with her picking up Tikki’s cravings, some nice Ladynoir moments, and great interactions between Tikki and Marinette, with Marinette letting her know that she didn’t need to hide the less-desirable parts of herself for fear of being rejected. Also feral!Tikki was awesome, we got some nice character development for her! Not much plot stuff, but it was fine, just not as exciting as many of us had hopes.

3. Hack-san

Hello Alyadrien, my sweet beloved! Alya was amazing this episode, loved her trying to come up with an awesome hero name the whole time. Adrien getting to be pissed was good too, like seeing him getting to be frustrated about not being told stuff. And him and Scarabella bonding at the wax museum, both of them being the same sort of cheesy, posing dorks, was just brilliant. More of them please!

Marinette knocking Robostus out with a frying pan was gold, and YAY ALYA, for making sure that Marinette talked to her partner about his feelings and worries! 

2. Glaciator 2

If you want to swap this entry with number 1, I wouldn’t object. The whole “Chat keeping on making comments about wanting to be in a relationship” thing was handled pretty well, especially with Adrien KNOWING he needs to find some sort of way to get a handle on his feelings so as not to hurt Ladybug. I really felt for him during his coping sequences, he really didn’t know what to do. It felt a lot like Marinette’s reaction to the Luka breakup in Truth, actually, complete with denial.

Mostly though, I loved the Marichat. The Buttercup confession scenes are gonna be feeding the fandom for a long time, and we got to see how self-aware Marinette is about her need to control circumstances to try to avoid getting rejected, to the point of making up elaborate fantasies, rather than focusing on the here-and-now.

1. Gabriel Agreste

Maybe I’ll change my mind on the ranking after it’s had time to simmer, but right now, I think it was one of the best episodes of the season. 

Marinette’s “get Chloe’s phone” sideplot was fun, though ultimately filler. Didn’t mind too much though, since we got to see her in a suit and moustache, along with some great fairy tale illustrations with princess!Adrien and knight!Marinette.

Mostly though, FELIX. That magnificent bastard of a gremlin child is a lot more fun when he’s aimed squarely at Gabriel, and ONLY at Gabriel. Kid’s scary smart and doesn’t let himself be fooled by minor diversions. 

Plus the rich person mask party gives me MASSIVE conspiracy vibes that I am HERE for.

I think in retrospect, my post bitching about Ladrien was a mistake. It was written out of frustration, in response to a post that I perceived as trying to push Ladrien as morally superior to Marichat. That was probably not the right way to read this post. And even if it had been, the correct response would certainly not have been to vague-tumble (sub-tumble?) about it. I should just delete it.

…or I can double down and post more controversial Miraculous Ladybug shipping hot takes. Which one of these would be more fun? Difficult, difficult…

Adrigami vs Lukanette

I have seen more than one post argue that people prefer Lukanette over Adrigami because of racism, or because Kagami is too pushy, or similar. Now, for the record, I prefer anything above Lukanette and I personally love to ship Adrigaminette (specifically the version where everyone involved is really stupid about it). But I don’t think the moralistic argument can explain all of why Lukanette is so popular.

The problem is that we all love our point of view character Marinette and want good things to happen to her. Yes, there are exceptions in the fandom, but those are a small minority, no matter how loud they are. Adrigami is fun, interesting, engaging, they have both common points and interesting conflicts, and I’d absolutely love to watch a show about it… but Adrigami has one key drawback: It makes Marinette sad. And nobody wants that.

Lukanette, on the other hand, doesn’t make anyone (in universe) sad. Adrien and Kagami are okay with it, and it doesn't seem to affect Marinette's emotional state at all. (Yeah, sorry, not a fan of Luka, but I'll try not to dwell on it because my reasons for not liking him are not interesting, much like he is.)

Lukanette also works really well if you want to be salty about stuff but aren’t willing to go full Batman. The main salt objection to Adrien is that Chat Noir can be too pushy with his romantic feelings, which is arguably true, and that this means he is a horrible person, which I don’t exactly agree with. That cannot be said about Luka, who has no flaws, wishes, character motivation or similar nasty things that could get in the way.

All of these factors have nothing to do with Kagami whatsoever. Now, if you’re wondering why Lukanette is more popular than Kagaminette, then we’re getting somewhere.

Next up, more controversial opinions about other pairings:

Adrienette

Horrible, awful. Adrinette is king.

Marichat

Just to reiterate: I love Marichat moments. I don’t think regular Marichat dates, whether that is romantic dates or friend dates, works at all. Marichat lives from the fact that they’re both friends, yes, but also from the low-key spy vs spy antics where they try to convince each other that they’re not actually best friends yet. (Ladrien could do the same but they’re too busy awkwardly blushing at each other to get any sustained antics going)

Ladynoir

These two do not go on patrols in canon. I know every fan claims so, but there’s no canon evidence, except for Dark Owl/Hibou Noir, where the regular patrols are clearly established as something unusual that both of them want to end soon. Yes, I know there’s one instagram post, and supposedly one tweet (not that I’ve ever seen it), but it’s not in the show. And let’s be real, why would they go on patrols? Hawkmoth canonically creates Akumas whenever, including frequently during school hours. Patrols can’t help against that. That’s why our heroes canonically use alerting apps.

The reason why people love patrols is because it gets Ladynoir together without having to invent an Akuma. I can see the appeal behind that… but honestly, isn’t that just lazy? The show generally makes sure to show us the tail end of the adventure that brought them together this time, and I think that is more fun. Alternatively, sometimes, the show just doesn’t bother to explain why they’re together in costume at all (e.g. the end of Chat Blanc), and it turns out that this is also a thing you can do and nobody will hate you for it.

Adrinette

This may be my most controversial opinion yet, but I want these two crazy kids to kiss and hold hands and grow old together.

Adrigaminette

Yes, I know it'll never be canon. But I refuse to believe that they didn't realise people would ship it when they wrote the beginning of Heart Hunter. That whole sequence seems like it was designed to get me to ship it, and you know what? It succeeded.

Maribat aka Daminette

People, including Zag, are sleeping on what a great platonic friendship pairing this could be. Just those two geeking out about how great Ladybug, Marinette, Nino and Carapace are.

The problem with that ship is that I don’t want good things to happen to either of these people. Which means I'm perfectly okay with the canon version of this ship, where it's clear that both of them are emotionally stunted, callous and immoral and are never going to find happiness. The fact that it’s technically cheating only adds to that. I am not fond of fan versions where these two and Adrien are one happy family, though.

The pairing is perfect, but I have to say: Lady WiFi is cooler and fits better for Alya than Rena Rouge. Who ever thought to give the journalist the Miraculous that is all about lying and deception?

If you ship the two of them as civilians, you have either have an interest in Cheating, or the idea of Alya stealing Adrien from Marinette ‘just because’. If you ship the two of them as heroes, you like the idea of them have a ‘friends with benefits’ style relationship where after a night of partrol they sneak off to romp.

You are tired of the Chameleon episode and Marinette not being treated right, tired of Adrien being treated wrong by his Father and possibly the show writers, tired of people fighting over the lovesquare (tm) and the alternate Kagmi/Luka ships, so you just ship these 4 lovable bastards and keep everyone else away from them. Sorry for a bit of a late response lol! But let’s get to it

How I feel about this character: I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER SO FRIGGING MUCH. One of the best characters in the show, and super pretty too. I love every aspect of her, she’s just.... my daughter.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Say whatever you want about them... but you can’t deny the representation in DJWifi is amazing for cartoons! Why? Because; they’re the two major POC characters in the series and are in a loving, healthy relationship with zero jealousy issues, they’re allowed to have their own interests/hobbies/passions and friend groups, and their families love the other. They’re one of my favorite ships in the series and off all-time in my fandoms; I absolutely love them together!

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Look... I love her with her sisters, Marinette, and the rest of the Girl Squad... but I LIVE for Alyadrien BrOTP. They’d have such fun siblings vibes; I really want to see more of their friendship in season four and five too.

My unpopular opinion about this character: She is an incredible friend to Marinette 99.9% of the time; Chameleon was just an episode that portrayed the class poorly for the sake of the angst with Lila. Marinette adores her friends, and I bet she wouldn’t like the way she and her friends are portrayed in the ‘salt-fics’ and Chameleon ‘fix-its’ one bit. If you really cared about Marinette, you wouldn’t separate her from the people she cares about in your fanfiction. TLDR; I love Alya and Marinette both as individuals and as a team so much and Alya doesn’t deserve the shit some of y’all give her in Chameleon salt-fics.

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I want to see more of her relationship with her mother. Since Marlena’s been confirmed to be a chef in Kung Food, it’d be awesome to see her and Alya cooking together!
