so @rayandgay's gifset of mahasamut slipping the leash got me thinking and...

one thing that makes jak such a well written villain is how quickly our perception (of jak) as the audience shifts in this moment and how utterly believable that is.

jak is honed in on tongrak throughout the scene, even when mahasamut gets up, you see jak is focused fully on tongrak and doesn't even glance at mahasamut until he's grabbed and decked in the face. and at that point all he seems to register is shock.

perhaps its blind arrogance or his obsession with controlling tongrak, but jak doesn't actually seem that...smart? like, this is after he's sent 2 goons to beat up/kill mahasamut and they came crawling back severely beaten up themselves, so he should really have been expecting mahasamut to be a physical threat.

but also, it helps us as the audience understand and empathise with the hold jak has over tongrak. because jak has devoted time and effort to creating this larger-than-life perception of control, power, and ability to harm and/or destroy the things and people tongrak loves. tongrak cannot even perceive his own father's weakness at this point. manipulation is what jak's actually good at.

but then, it's also why his control over tongrak finally breaks here because mahasamut manages to show tongrak just how weak jak really is.

and we as the viewer experience the same flip in perception as tongrak does! prior to this moment, the show really makes it seem that jak is going to be this huge threat, this big looming final boss that they have to fight to get their happily ever after. in the scene with prin, it feels like he's the mastermind behind her. like she's supplying the money but the true brains behind the encroaching threat to our lovers is jak. it helps that jak is physically terrifying cuz he towers over everyone else in the cast.

but in the confrontation all it takes is 2 punches for him to go from threats to begging. he's begging after 1 punch, and barely takes 2 the entire scene to be rendered out of commission.

we go on the same journey as tongrak does in this moment: "is this it? is this really the larger than life man? this!? could it be that this man was nothing more than a pathetic opportunist who got his hooks into a child and has been using that to maintain his control this entire time? could it be that he only seemed so strong before because he was an adult who took his strength out on a child?"

jak's written this way to get us to understand tongrak better because we as an audience have been taken in that same emotional journey. we, too, are fooled by jak's looming presence and vague threats and lies. but we are also released from the hold by mahasamut's actions. we see jak for what he truly is (a sad, pathetic excuse of a man who had a golden opportunity and took it) and that sets us up to understand tongrak's journey (and it was a journey; its implied by the multiple flashbacks and tongrak's name that his mom tried for several years after he was born to keep jak around - so tongrak had jak's cruelty and physical violence and probably verbal snide remarks for years). it's why tongrak takes episode 10 to finally be free. its why we love tongrak so much, because mame helps us relate to him and how desperately he needed to be set free. and mame gives tongrak (and us) that with mahasamut. <3

Hi sweetheart!! Could you teach how to make gifs with hd quality?

hello! i’m honoured to think that my gifsets are high quality enough to ask for a tutorial. a lot of my work has been through trial and error and a little help from sharpening actions. i’m going to base a little off chloezhao’s gifmaking beginner tutorial, except i use video to frames and not screencapping.

let’s get started!

program: adobe photoshop 2021 

i find that the majority of gif makers use some form of adobe product whether that is premiere or photoshop, but i just use the most recent photoshop version adobe had to offer.

this tutorial applies for macOS and windows so don’t worry, any version of program that contains the “timeline” feature will do.

1. download HQ OR HD videos.

i find that the best gifs that come out with HD frames are 1080p quality or 1440p. anything below that might come out to look a little pixelated. at least that’s what i’ve learnt over the time that i started making gifs (a little over a month ago). for me, i can also screen record my videos if it seems like it’ll be impossible to download a high quality video but it’s only in a dire situation.

the website that i use is called savieo, and it allows you to download videos from naver, youtube and vlive. this is great especially if you’re a kpop related tumblr account like i am. this is useful as sometimes, the quality of gifs can be severely degraded if uploaded to youtube vs. naver. this has rung true for music show performances. for this gif, i’m going to take a video off naver where sunmi has done a performance on MBC’s music core for you can’t sit with us.

2. importing video to frames.

secondly, i import my video to frames. since i work with short videos (3-10 mins) instead of 2 hour movies like some gif makers on tumblr, i feel more comfortable importing my downloaded video into photoshop, clipping it to an appropriate size and converting it to frames in one program. 

importing:

➤ after your video has downloaded, in photoshop go to file > import > video frames to layers.

➤ browse for the video. mine is usually in the downloads folder.

➤ once opened, you will have a window much like this. for this section of gif making, you have to select a short clip that you want to turn into a gif. for this example, i’ll do sunmi’s ending fairy section. keeping in mind that the bottom sliders select your clip!

➤ this will take some time to load depending on the length of your clip but as mine is short i estimate it’ll be around 50 frames (which is the average amount you want, or else the gif file size is too big and tumblr won’t accept it).

➤ after it finishes loading it should look something like this. if you don’t have the timeline open, go to window > timeline.

3. rid of excess frames.

➤ i like to get rid of frames i don’t need. as you can see above, we have the ending shot but not a close up of sunmi being an ending fairy. so i simply scroll through the timeline until i find the last frame of that scene, and shift and left click on it. now we can delete it using the trashcan icon. and i do the same for excess frames on the right hand side.

➤ now select the marquee tool. this depends on how you want the gif to look, for me i chose the dimensions 1920px x 800px.

➤ once that’s been selected, you can crop! i have a short cut assigned to this already, but if you go to image > crop you will get the same effect. this will take a while if you have 90 frames like i do. but it will take less time if you have 40-50 frames.

4. resizing

for all gif makers the dimensions differ depending on how they want it to look on tumblr. for me i like to make the width 810px for a nice big high quality gif, or 540px (the width of a tumblr dashboard post). to do so, go to image > image size and put in new dimensions. for this gif i’m making the width 810px. this will take some time to load!

that’s how to make a basic gif with no sharpening! you can now export it if you wish, by going to file > export > save for web (legacy). 

note: if you take a look at the timeline you can play the gif from frame one using the controls. also, if the play back speed bothers you when you’re exporting to save it to web, do what i show below.

4. sharpening.

for this, we’re going to have to convert to video timeline. our current timeline is a frame animation timeline! on the right hand side of the timeline there will be 3 lines stacked on top of each other, much like an options menu. click on that and select convert to video timeline.

➤ the timeline will now look like this.

➤ go to select > all layers. the layers should then be highlighted on the right hand side.

➤ now right click on any of the highlighted layers and press convert to smart object. smart objects are essentially a new layer that contains image data of EVERY layer you have selected. so any effects you apply to the smart object will now apply to every frame layer from the gif. it will look like this:

➤ keeping the smart object selected, go to filter, then smart sharpen. i go for a singular smart sharpen but some users like to smart sharpen twice, much like chloezhao’s tutorial that i linked in the beginning of this tutorial.

these are the settings used:

➤ and save with export to web!

5. colouring

now for colouring at present i have NOT explored colouring my own gifs that much and i stick to psds from deviantart or tumblr. the one i’m using today is no. 1 psd by bbyhyuck @ deviantart. click here.

when dropping a psd onto a gif file, ENSURE THE TOP MOST LAYER IS SELECTED like so !!

to drop a colouring onto your gif, open the psd and drag it into a separate window of its own like so: 

and then select the folder and drag and drop it on top of your gif preview (mine is sunmi’s face!) the folder should now be above the top most layer.

and that’s it! export it and it should now look like this.

tumblr is extremely finnicky with me uploading my gifs in a text post so click the above link to view the results (pre sharpening, post sharpening and post psd.)

Movies watched in 2021: Shang-Chi

This movie was fucking awesome! I loved everything about it, even the third act that seems to be a bit... controversial? IDK, I thought it was great!

Shaun (Simu Liu) and his best friend Katy (Awkwafina) lead an unambitious life, working for a hotel and having fun at karaoke bars at night. That is, until Shaun's past catches up to him and several bad guys attack him during a bus ride. They work for his father, Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung), leader of the Ten Rings, a group of highly skilled assassins. Shaun had left this life behind, but when his sister Xianling (Meng'er Zhang) is threatened, he has to stop hiding away in America and has to face his past.

So, as I’ve mentioned somewhere around here I’ve started watching „Legend of Fei“. After that it’ll be „Douluo Continent“, but for now LoF seems like the easier option since it’s basically complete on Viki. (And yes I got a Viki pass for this because YouTube also had obnoxious ads and that just won’t do.)

Anyway, so far I’m really enjoying it! Zhou Fei is entertaining and I still don’t know how old she’s supposed to be, but I assume it’s something between 16 and 20. I like her even though she’s a bit stand-offish and tends to be mean to Xie Yun, who is a fucking delight, okay. But I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, since she’s likely a teenager who has no fucking clue how to react to someone flirting with her and obviously grew up suuuuper sheltered.

Like, so sheltered that she does not get the implications of wearing Xie Yun’s gift around her neck. She has this cute conversation with Wu ChuChu, who is the sweetest girl seriously, and during it she decides to make a necklace out of that gift. Chuchu’s like, „Hey what’s that?“ and A-Fei is like, „Someone gave it to me.“ (obviously not meaning her parents), and Chuchu’s eyes go big and she’s like, „Uhm you do know what it means when you wear such a gift?“ And A-Fei just looks confused and has no fucking clue. So Chuchu’s just goes internally, „OMG she doesn’t know! Do I tell her? Nahhh, she’ll get there on her own.“ XD

Xie Yun constantly makes heart eyes at Zhou Fei and is just awesome and super likable in general. He’s the kind of guy who’ll sit around in a prison (for six months I guess!) because a) he’s curious what’s going on there, b) he was with Wu ChuChu and her little brother at the time and knows some evil guys are after them, and c) he just doesn’t have anything better to do and the food isn’t that bad.

And I don’t know which of those reasons was the most important one. XD

I think he’s already decided that Zhou Fei will be his wife because she’s awesome and he likes awesome and pretty women. I enjoy their dynamic, because it’s for once the cliché of „mean unapproachable guy has that one woman fawn over him because she sees the good in him“ but turned around and with much more likeable characters.

I don’t know anything about the plot. I know some bits about characters but that’s it. So this is really… quite something.

Like, I guess there’s a war… coming? Or already happening somewhere? There definitely was a war in the past. And the evil guys of Disha are after some kind of McGuffins I guess. Which is why they try to catch Wu Chuchu and her brother.

Then there’s another possible evil, definitely weird guy all in red, who has some feud with the Disha guys.

But really, the villains from Disha are… all over the place. Their leader Shen .. *looks the name up* Tianshu has a lot of gravitas and always talks very quietly, like, okay, I don’t understand what you’re saying anyway but could you please speak up? And his subordinate - or younger brother? - or just the master under him, I’m not really sure, anyway, that guy is so OTT in everything he does. Every movement, every expression, the way he speaks screams EVIL VILLAIN WHO IS EVIL, right from 60s Batman I guess. XD He also has an eyepatch.

I think Disha seems to be a lot of… infighting? Like, several of the masters have ambitions to be the leader but for now it’s the oldest guy? But then he had a staring contest with one of the masters, and I was like, WTF are you doing? Why are you narrowing your eyes at each other? In close up? That went on really long, so I guess the younger one was kinda challenging Shen Tianshu? I guess we’ll see about all that later.

I love Zhou Fei’s parents, especially her mother. She’s the same type of character like Yu Ziyuan in „The Untamed“, BTW, so if you want to get a better read on this kind of character I think this show is really good. Because there’s a lot of tough love going on there, the mother is reserved and not exactly overflowing with compliments and praise. But there are also scenes where you see that she loves her daughter and is proud of her.

I’ve only seen 6 eps so far, I’ve got no idea where this is going (well okay, the credits tell me there will be some big fight against Disha and Zhou Fei/Xie Yun is endgame but other than that?). What’ll happen with Zhou Fei’s cousin who kinda feels underappreciated, what are those McGuffins etc. There are also several older characters around who seem to belong to other sects but it seems that these sects are in decline.

I also love the end credits song. ♥

I was inspired by @pumpkinpaix‘s wonderful idea of posting about “joyful objects” - objects that make you happy, no matter if old or new, if expensive or not. :D

This is a keychain with tail hair of our two horses. I commissioned it from a lovely jewellery maker that specialises in making necklaces, rings, bracelets etc. with horse tail hair as a special memento to perhaps remember a beloved animal after its death, or just as a pretty token of a horse that’s still alive.

My mother and I used to have two horses. My mare died four years ago; she’d had a long history of illness and actually was doing much better until a sudden severe colic ended her life. She was 24 and I’d had her for almost 18 years. We had some troubled times as she wasn’t the easiest of horses. I guess you could say she had character. XD But I loved her nonetheless. It was difficult letting her go, even though I’d had to come to terms with it much earlier because of her illness. It was expected that she wouldn’t live that many years longer, but the colic was sudden. 

My mother’s gelding died last December. He was almost 31 years old, so a very old age for a warmblood, and with us for twenty years. He was still doing pretty all right for his age, too, and the day before his death he’d rolled around in the grass happily. But the next day he couldn’t get up anymore and even meds didn’t get him on his feet again. Considering that we’ve had a very wet and uncomfortable winter and also a rainy, weird summer, I’m kind of glad that he didn’t have to suffer through that weather anymore. He went after a surprisingly warm and sunny December day, where he’d been fussed over and gotten the last of the good grass.

They both are running free on the eternal pasture now and I’m sure they’re very happy there.

I commissioned several pieces with their tail hair, but the keychain is the first that combines both of them. It hangs from my rearview mirror in my car, so I see it pretty much every day. I plan on getting more jewellery with both of them, but for now this has to do. I just love how it turned out and it’s a beautiful reminder of them. ♥

Movies watched in 2021: Love and Monsters

Look. I love Dylan O’Brien, so I was really looking forward to this movie. Of course, it also suffered from the closed cinemas last year but is now showing on Netflix (Germany, I guess some other countries had an earlier release).

The world went to hell. Because humanity nuked an asteroid that would’ve have destroyed Earth, the nuclear waste caused a mutation in cold-blooded animals. The result was huge mutated monster insects, amphibians, spiders etc. and many, many dead people. Joel (Dylan O’Brien) survived one of the worst outbreaks and has been living in an underground colony with several other survivors for seven years now. His parents died and his girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) got separated from him in the chaos.

Joel is a bit of a sadsack, because he still pines for Aimee and their lost love after all these years and also is a bad fighter that doesn’t contribute much to his colony except for cooking and taking care of radiocommunication. In this manner he finds Aimee again - she’s in a colony 140 km west from him. And in a crazy bout of spontaneousness Joel decides to go to her.

Ill equipped as he is he still braves the outside world for the first time in seven years, just to finally reunite with the woman he loves. On his journey he meets a dog, two other survivors (Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt), and lots and lots of monsters.

Summary: The juniors worshipped the ground Hanguang-Jun walked on. He was perfect, his judgement flawless. So why did he make heart eyes at that crazy demonic cultivator they met on a night hunt? A man who was constantly whining, pouting, arguing with his donkey, standing much too close to Hanguang-Jun, permanently touching him, even daring to call him by his birth name?!

Based on this tumblr post by @neverdoingmuch. I took inspiration from it and it turned into this. I don’t know.

Dabb vs cars

Surprisingly, not the next round in my ongoing, bitter feud about his continuity problems. A "I come in peace" study on parking.

I watched 10x09 today and I did the usual OTP "aw they're so far apart" sad heart feeling at the shot of them all outside Sharkey's.

No, not Dean n Cas.

The Impala and Pimpmobile.

Anyway it got me thinking about in that moment it represented pretty well how Dean and Cas were doing with each other. Of course there isn't room to park beside Cas's car, so Dean goes and parks on the other side of the door, leaving this big gap between them, bigger because there's a parking mark thingy Cas is about to trip over before the shot abruptly ends. (I hope Misha was okay.) The cars have a clear line of sight to each other, but there's just something so unutterably sad about there being no way for them to park side by side, per Cas's parking, and Dean putting that extra space between them. (Also so they can go in the door... I'd say unobstructed but the longer I watch the gif the more I become convinced there's footage out there of Misha ruining the impression of Cas's reserved dignity...)

In the context of season 10, where Destiel was at right then was the first time they'd seen each other since 10x03, when Dean cleared his bed for Cas like, thanks for saving me from myself pls make yourself comfy, and Cas freaked out and gabbled some stuff about work and Hannah and such and told Dean to rest up, then fled the scene. Dean is pissed off Cas called for help over trying to deal with Claire (and it kind of looks like making excuses of busywork to not come home, when you flee with an apparently important mission and it turns out you're wandering around trying to earn back brownie points with your vessel's daughter, having randomly and abruptly swapped onto a personal mission without telling Dean a word of it) and in general the car placement amused me by seeming to echo how they were doing.

Being me, obviously thinking about that made me start thinking about Dabb, cars, and his old Carver era patterns. He got the one per season (two if we were lucky) Deep Emotional DeanCas Talk, to give us a real, solid moment to show how they were truly doing. 8x08, 9x10, 9x22, 10x09, and 11x10 spring to mind though obviously in other episodes he wrote with them they also still shared some pretty epic emotional moments or there were other strong Destiel things. However he is the one who gave us Cas's original car, and two of these instances are directly before the Big Talk to tide things over and give us the emotional background for later. I figured some thoughts about some notable Dabb car stuff would be a nice thing to do. After my amused nostalgia run through Carver era moments, I've included Dabb era in general and picked out some other moments.

9x10 is the start of all this, once Cas finally gets some wheels of his own. The most interesting set piece barely involves any driving, but is the first time the Impala and Continental are parked beside each other. Like, RIGHT beside. Like, Dean n Cas should be this close to each other all the time. Cas's car is a step ahead (I mean, I assume so he could get out the door). All episode Dean n Cas are a beautiful emotionally supportive unit, but Dean can't cope with this, and so he gets in his car and leaves, pulling away from the closeness he's offered from his family, the thing with the cars being exactly what he did when he walked away from them on the bridge too. I mean, that's fairly obvious, I'm just amused after I went back to look, HOW closely the two cars were parked, like they wanted Cas's car in that shot, next to Dean's, and they'd force the most unrealistic parking job ever when there's all that unused space around them, to get all the random details into the shot they needed. As a bonus, Dean had to have been the one to park the Impala so close blocking Cas's car in. Unconscious desire to be so close to him and to keep him? He's still recovering from asking him to leave.

(I know the Impala and Continental shared space in several end of season 9 episodes but not 9x22 as far as I recall in the earlier parts, and the Worst Dabb Vs Cars Fuckery Of Them All occurs in the final driving moment of that episode, just putting Cas IN the Impala for the drive home despite the fact his car ends up the Bunker at the start of 9x23... That's a symbolic gesture of what he was trying to convey in the moment of Cas sitting in the back of the car but for the sake of talking about how they park together, useless. I feel like in 9x18 it's just a reminder Cas HAS the car, and the show doesn't do anything useful with it to represent Cas...)

Onto 11x10, and honestly my favourite of Dabb's Dean n Cas chatting scenes because it's technically pretty superfluous except for the fact he really really wanted a final DeanCas chat before Cas got Casifered, and so he made one heck of a driving continuity snarl to wrangle it. Obviously Cas followed Dean's longing to his spot because how else... Anyway, he parks a long long way off. In season 11 he's feeling very distanced from Dean by his anxiety and trauma. This is the epitome of the "I came as soon as you called" behaviour, with Cas dropping everything to come help Dean, and romantic blurring into focus walk aside, the long shot shows us beautifully that Cas is hesitant to approach, and maintaining the distance with Dean. After all the season 10 and early 11 drama between them, including several rounds of mind controlled punch ups, they're fragile and miserable, and Cas's last interaction with Dean on screen was an angry and frustrating one. Cas himself bridges the distance betwen them but his car waiting off in the background suggests his reservations, and the rest of the episode spells out everything, before he chooses to do something he thinks will help move their cars closer, as it were.

Entering Dabb era proper, in 12x02 we see Cas's new truck (still with hay) and Dean pulling up to it. Obviously they've got their mission to save Sam, the jokes about Mary being brought along to chaperone their date, etc. But since the car conversation in 11x23 the ball has been in Dean's court to approach Cas, and I would assume the mythical instance of mixtape giving is somewhere between 12x01 and 12x19; the point is, here, as the first 2 episodes of season 12 in general showed (and Dean in 12x22 confirmed talking about how happy he was to have Cas and Mary back in the same breath), Dean approaches Cas, parking right behind his truck, as a symbol of the confidence and comfort they have now. They work great as a team in this part of the season, although Cas has been standing around by his lonely parked truck waiting for most of the episode up to that point, and is forced to continue standing by the truck for most of the rest of the episode.

12x12 Cas is still in the "I'll just wait here then" mode, hanging out at their designated meeting place as Sam, Dean, Mary and Wally arrive in a convoy and park on the other side of this parking lot, so he has to come to join them (Dean rotating on the spot as he does so... heh, I love that moment.) By the middle of season 12 Cas has run away to find Lucifer, echoing 10x03's parting, and also killed for them and invited cosmic consequences, and in 12x10 given a firm well-communicated emotional talk to help him feel included and loved, and yet he also leaves to search for Kelly some more, echoing other times he's gone off to do a side project and been very much on the outside. Once again he's waiting for them to catch up, and Dean seems to breeze by him - and there's so many other people with them (and part of why he left in 12x03 was to give Sam and Dean space with Mary, exclusing himself from the family). In the diner scene Cas has the whole waitress thing to deal with, with Dean acting up around so many people with conflicting needs to perform. Cas has been waiting for an incredibly long time, but if you ever needed a more firm "the ball is in your court" it's the "I love you" at the end of the episode.

12x19 also has a important "where the cars are placed" sequence, which you could really do with a whole gifset of, but of course the Impala is there because Kelly stole it, and it's been left off to the side by them; likewise Sam and Dean are left to the side by them as they drive off. Sam and Dean placed the truck before they did that and took it back (and all the stuff about Cas and Dean and fixing the truck in the episode is a whole 'nother thing)... From this angle it looks ominously like the park in which Dean found Mary, with the lights behind the trees going on - of course night has just fallen rather than the sun coming up, and Cas is driving away from the light. As Dean walked Mary into their lives, newly resurrected, Cas drives out of their lives >.> Between all the stealing cars and rushing into save Cas, the gap between them as they're parked is obvious and as a result of the circumstances. They're apart because there's too much going on, Kelly made off with Cas in the car, and Sam and Dean were helpless chasing after them. The distance and swapping around of cars and using them as part of the chaos is very effective. Cas calmly takes possesion of his truck again, freshly fixed by Dean, but drives off with Kelly. In 12x23 they steal some stock Destiel phrases to exchange, and it's touching the truck which opens the rift. I had a nose around the outdoors scenes and couldn't spot Cas's truck and the Impala even on the same side of the building, and honestly am kind of confused about where the truck went. Not, as I said, that I'm trying to continue the feud with this post. But I mean.

*clears throat*

I'm just saying he ruined the continuity in 12x01 for 12x02 by doing the exact same thing as 9x22 by just not using Cas's truck when it would make sense to take as many vehicles as they can get their hands on so they could split up... Obviously all the many set pieces to do with cars worked best/could only work if there was just the Impala but it's all style over function again... So in 12x02 to let Cas split up to help they add an extra day to let him get the truck so he can follow leads and do the legwork, and Mary and Dean end up back at the Bunker, immediately falling back into old static patterns when it would have made so much sense to just have them in a motel NEARBY instead of abandoning their hot trail on finding Sam so Mary could shower... He handed them that excuse on a platter and killed the urgency and Dean n Cas were split up all episode when they could have been at least local-ish to each other and maybe had that phonecall in person and and and... shh Lizzy

10 parallels of Emma becoming a hero / Hook becoming a hero

I got this request following the “journey of having a family” gifset, but when I built this one, I realized that in oppose to the journey of having a family, the journey of becoming a hero is much more dynamic and doesn’t have a fixed chronological order (as you can see in the gifs above).

I think it’s kind of beautiful though, because becoming a hero is something that wasn’t happening in a day for them, especially not the understanding that they are ones. It began by them not seeing themselves as such, but it also continued with it after they already proven their heroism (like Hook saying he’s hardly a hero in 4x12 after he made heroic choices for already a season and a half before that). It continued with someone putting their faith in them (for Emma Henry, for Hook Emma), and so they just gave this new lifestyle a try by sticking around and not running like they always did.

They both helped people along the way, pushed the temptation of the darkness of being the DO away, sacrificed themselves for the sack of others, were acknowledged as heroes by other people, and were even able to acknowledge it about themselves eventually.

But I think the most important thing for both of them, even more than realizing they are in fact heroes, is acknowledging that being heroes is what they truly have wanted all along! After lifetime of convincing themselves that they are better of alone, that they should care only about themselves, they chose to embrace the change that someone offered them because they truly WANTED to be heroes. It wasn’t so they can be happy like Regina (they both know heroism comes with a price, and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice), it was because that’s what they secretly always wanted to be. So at the end of the day, the journey of becoming a hero didn’t end up with doing heroic acts, or even acknowledging that they have a mark on the heroes column, but the deep understanding that this is by their own choice. I think we saw it once more for Emma in the mid season finale, in which she became horrified that the EQ was gonna make her “wish” come true because she knew it was something that was said without truly being meant. The truth is that she wouldn’t trade being the savior at all, in the same way that Hook ended up choosing heroism over and over again after a lifetime (or better say several lifetimes) of darkness.

I was lurking over Silverchair blogs (I didn’t send any anonymous asks or anything like that though lol), and I made it because I wanted to try reaching out with other fans who loved them just as much as I do (which was really hard to do because I’m shy lmao, BUT EVERYONE ENDED UP BEING REALLY NICE TO ME AND IT WAS SO SHOCKING????), plus, I have some friends from high school and college that I still wanted to connect with and share interests lol.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? Because it was his birthday towards the end of May, and I thought about keeping him around longer for the next 2 months. Also... well, look at him 😍

Well, 1) I was getting tired of the Silverchair “Abuse Me” gif I was using for like idk how many years, so when tumblr started upgrading with the headers, I decided to change it as a last minute thing. And 2) I love Aaliyah, I love her expression there lol, and I love the color because it feels homey, like I’m in my room, like it’s warm and cozy; and that’s how I wanted my blog to feel like... Like home.

14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog once? I mean I guess??? I didn’t even start the fight, I HARDLY KNEW THIS PERSON, and they were talking trash about me for no reason at all. I just ended up blocking the person. The only interaction I made during the fight was I asked what did I do to this person for them to pick a fight with me, and they didn’t respond, so obviously I knew it was a troll that just wanted to start some drama and I just left it alone.

15. How do u feel about "u need to reblog this" posts? If it’s like anything serious like life-threatening, yeah, but I don’t really like those posts where they make you feel bad if you don’t reblog it. Like if you don’t reblog it, it just shows that you don’t care, or that you’re a bad person; that sort of thing. Like I have enough stress and issues going on in my life, I don’t need anyone to tell me that I’m a bad person if I don’t reblog something. I already have enough on my plate, and I use my blog as an escape route.

10 (anti) parallels of CS / SQ

Since I already made a anti-parallel between Hook and Regina (on how they treat Emma), I wanted for this one to focus on the differences in Emma’s behavior for these two people.

First of all, I want to be clear, I didn’t made this gifset to compare between two romantic relationships, only one of them is such. I compare between two friendships, because both of them have this in common.

Truth be told, I don’t necessarily dislike Emma and Regina’s friendship. There are sides of it that I do like. However, there are some issues that troubles me and I will address them below.

First of all, I have this feeling that for Emma it’s hard to open her heart to Regina. I don’t say it doesn’t happen at all, but it usually impossible for her. Actually, I feel like in this friendship it is mostly Regina sharing her feelings and self-pity, while Emma is constantly trying to please her and make her feel better. I don’t recall a moment that Emma told Regina to just stop feel sorry for herself and get control over her own like. I have a feeling that she’s always walking with extra carefulness not to upset her that she sometimes not being the friend that Regina truly needs.

I also feel that Regina on the other hand is sometimes too brutal with her. I think Emma is seeing that as a positive thing because she apparently feels that she needs someone to call her stupid. But at the end of the day, this is the reason why for the big emotional stuff she will always turn to Killian. Even when Regina controls her with the dagger, forcing her to tell her the truth.

I also feel like the main thing gluing them together is Henry. While Emma can’t face the thought of losing Killian (and we saw her not facing it several of times), when it came to Regina she couldn’t face the possibility of Henry not having Regina if something happens to her. It’s not a coincidence that almost every episode that is a SQ centric puts Henry in the middle.

And at last, I think Emma has much more faith in Killian’s redemption than Regina’s. It makes me think that agreeing to help her take these short cuts in her redemption process are maybe because she fear the un-stability of Regina staying good.
