"Dean didn't love Cas," "It was platonic," fuck off, when Cas died, he handled his loss the exact same way John did when he lost Mary. It's not even subtext, it's in the dialogue. Sam points it out, loud and clear. That's literally what the narrative was conveying.

"He's not just grieving about Cas, he lost Mary too." Yeah, but even when he's hellbent on blaming all of their loss on Jack, even he could see that Mary made her choice.

But to him, Cas didn't. To Dean, Cas was manipulated—deceived by some idea of "paradise," and it's easier to swallow that than to consider that Cas up and left them to protect Lucifer's child.

And you wanna know the cherry on top of all this??? Castiel's paradise consisted of them, together. Happy. Alive. Together. Castiel may have run away with Kelly to fulfill her wish for Jack, (to let him keep his powers where the Winchesters wanted to turn him human), but he only did so for that promise. In the end, he ran away so he could give them this.

i just watched 12x19 and oh my god. Cassie. my sweet boy. no.💔💔 he keeps doing stuff and he has good intentions oml. my babygirl vanished for days, stole the colt from the boys, failed to kill Daigon, spared Kelly, AND knocked out the boys so they wouldn’t stop him from leaving again.

dean even said “he’s so desperate for a win, he can’t even think straight.” HE WANTS A WIN FOR YOU DEAN!!🥲 he’s literally trying to prove himself to your flannel ass. he doesn’t even have confidence in himself anymore bro😭

i watch SPN with my mom and she HATES cas so she was pissed this episode. i’m a diehard cas defender. he’s still my darling boy. but oh dear you didn’t have to do all that for sum sad alcoholic you’re yearning for.

So in 12x19, the Truck is about Dean and Cas being hopelessly in love with each other? Dean fixing it instead of taking any working car around... Cas leaving with it after his moment with Dean (before knocking him out for the sake of the Mission)...

That, and a lot more scary stuff, I think! Jack's ability to override free will is something that is flirted with in his interactions with Kaia, too, in 13x09. (Interestingly, Jack is often associated with drug-religious connections, euphoric states, and bands like The Who.)

Which, I mean, if we all had the powers that Jack had, I'm sure we could accidentally lurch into a realm of "adopt-my-pov-or-else!"

Especially when the safety of our loved ones are on the line!

Jack's powers and his need to survive can be seen like instincts writ large (a metaphor for how progeny tend to "drain" their parents and "brainwash them," using a mother to nourish and a father for protection).

As for his powers, it's very early said to be "like a reflex."

However, on the whole, his control is so good that he rarely makes mistakes. Unfortunately, when he makes mistakes, they tend to be big ones, tragically in parallel to how big the responsibility/power is. Even with Mary, completely soulless, he loses control, "only for a moment." It's hard to imagine how good you have to be to keep control of angelic-emotions/volatility?

Anyway, Cas has been abused and tortured to the point of nearly losing himself on multiple occasions (as has Dean himself, while in Hell). Is it any wonder Dean perceives this blooming power with some amount of instinctual fear?
