I still find the notion that every air nomad was born a bender ridiculous. The three other nations have a good equal of benders and nonbenders, so why so it be different Air? It just seemed to me like another attempt for the Air Nomads to be this lost, pure and righteous race.

The realistic answer is Bryke is terrible at actual world building, and it makes more sense for it to not be true (and based on the show bible, it seems like it wasn't true originally, although I think LoK confirmed it was true? Someone let me know if I'm right, please. I'm not rewatching to check). The interesting answer is that all Air Nomads were not airbenders, and they did Something Horrible™️©️®️ to the non-bending children. That's my headcanon.

If I wrote this story, the fact that this happened among the Air Nomads comes out, but no one believes it at first. It's widely accepted to be Fire Nation propaganda, like when Aang found out that the Fire Nation kids were being taught that the Air Nomads had a formal military that was defeated by Sozin and not that the Air Nomad civilians were ambushed. But then Something Happens, and it's slowly revealed that no, it's true. The Air Nomads had skeletons in their closet, too (literally, in some cases). The Something depends on what timeline I'm envisioning.

Scenario 1: Canon compliant, until... Kya is born, and now Aang has TWO non-airbending children. That calls into question the idea that all Air Nomads were benders, because it's impossible that a nomadic people who traveled all over the world (and who may not have held monogamy as a universal standard) didn't have children with people of different nations. Either it's a myth that all Air Nomads were airbenders, or babies born without bending weren't considered Air Nomads (and what does that mean for Katara's children?), or Aang really is the first Air Nomad to try to have babies with a non-airbender (pffftt!!!). That opens up a whole lot more uncomfortable questions. During the time that all of this is happening, more Air Nomad artifacts confirming some unpleasant truths are discovered.

Scenario 2: Kataang doesn't happen (yay for Katara!). The questions start coming because air benders are being discovered in pockets around the world. They are born to people who weren't air benders, or not any sort of benders at all. In tracing their family lines, some of them discover Air Nomad ancestors. Those are the ones that were raised by their non-Nomad parents. There are others- a disturbing number- who aren't able to trace their lineages back very far because their Nomad-descended ancestors were given away. Some in under the table adoptions, others to orphanages, and more than a few were given into servitude and poverty, and even they were among the lucky ones. The world is turned on its head when the mass graves full of small bones are found....During the time that all of this is happening, more Air Nomad artifacts confirming some unpleasant truths are discovered.

My professor says rhetorically, discussing economic development and its relationship with the environment and human life, and as my brain is still stuck on arcane against my will i can't help but think about the kirammans apparently building a vent system for zaun but not doing shit about the industrialization that made the Gray in the first place, and then caitlyn using the vents to release that deadly gas in her hunt for what she knows is a deeply disturbed teenager + the gangs that ran the undercity, with no mention of the deal jayce made with silco a season before, nothing about how the gas weapon manhunt affected zaun. Cait gets to go back to her big fancy house as a like tragic hero or whatever with her mom buried in a grave she can still visit and her dad still alive and a girlfriend who'll go down on her no problem despite losing her entire family and turning her back on the home she used to do anything and everything to protect. No sign of remorse not a hint of reparations or doing anything about the stranglehold piltover has on zaun. Gee golly it sure is a mystery why so many people would be put off by this story, riot games company based in california usa with mostly white people in charge

thinking about how the Guidance of Grace in Land of Shadow never points us to where Messmer is (the one at Divine Beast arena points towards the sealed gate aka a dead end). It’s Leda and Dane’s notes that tell us to head East and target him.

Guidance only picks up again after Messmer is defeated 🥲

If you think about it, he never commented on how we were following guidance of the Erdtree like Leda did, he started the fight simply because he wouldn’t accept us as Marika’s Lord. Which means he knows we are not there on his Mother’s guidance (& it’s true, we aren’t)

And it reminds me of his final dialogue again. Since he’s destroyed her blessing, he could only now be a curse. And so he bound himself to her once more with his last breath.

I feel like that’s how Marika knows - a whole world away in her own prison of punishment and crucifixion - and she accepts his curse. In a way, they are reunited once more.

So guidance of grace picks up again, her son’s sacrifice would not be in vain. It would not be for nothing. Miquella’s misguided path to Godhood would be stopped.

It’s not that Leda failed to see who was guiding us at first, it’s simply that the Erdtree never guides us until AFTER Messmer boss fight.

OK, fair warning to the few people I actually managed to convince to try the game??

Rain world does NOT play like hollow knight, and you'll get your butt kicked if you approach it like that.

It's really hard. Like, really hard. Instead of the game literally giving you abilities in the form of power-ups and damage buffs, the only abilities you gain is from what you learn and your own ingenuity. You're a rat from beginning to end. If you just beef your way through it, it's gonna suck and you're gonna be confused and frustrated all the time. But if you pay attention, take it slow, and learn how the ai works and how everything interacts with each other, you can consistently get through and dominate situations you thought were impossible to do so when you first began. Now get out there, kill some lizards, and bully some old computers!

Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.
