I remember this tweet from 2017 or 2018 that said "Can someone tell the writers of strangers things that Mike needs to have important bonding or conversations with characters other than El or Will "and I think about it daily because it was true in 2018 and it's true now.

It's a recurring problem the writers actually, it happens with other characters (joyce with hopper in the last few seasons, even will with mike, come on originally there wasn't even the bonding scene between Jonathan and Will in s4).

They tend to focus a lot on a relationship between two characters and leave out others.

But i think it's more noticeable in Mike's character which may well explain why the ship war between mileven and byler is the way it is and how Mike is defined according to his relationship with others. 

This is why i don't understand when someone says "oh, the writers won't have time to develop mike and El's arc, they won't have many scenes together" when milevens says something similar about Mike and Will not spending much time together in s5.

I'm sorry but Will and El are the most important relationships Mike has in the show, like it or not. That's where the writers' priority is in writing his bonding with others are. These relationships come first before his relationship with his sister or any of the other party members.And he's going to have important scenes with both El and Will and that's where the writers are going to focus, just like they did in past seasons.
