hi there! i know you've said before that oleander and francesco's routes could release either separately or together- can i ask what the current plan is, if there is one?

We actually talked about this pretty seriously recently and we've decided to split Oleander and Francesco's releases. I'll preface this by saying: everyone is okay, we're all dealing with life's slings and arrows as they come (and they have come!) but no one is in an emergency situation to force this change. I wanna talk our reasoning since this is an about-face on our earlier plans, but since that's gonna be some chunky-ass paragraphs, I'll pop it under a readmore. The TL;DR is that Oleander's second chapter will be coming out first, with Francesco to follow, and both are planned to be released in 2025.

So, we haven't talked about this explicitly because it's hard to chat about this without sounding like we're throwing someone under the bus, but reading between the lines of our monthly updates you might've picked up on the fact that I (Violet) have just made more and quicker progress in script-writing than Tobi.

This isn't a question of skill or dedication to the project; Tobi adores Obscura, and y'all have seen her writing! What she does have is a contractual obligation that only allows her to put a small number of hours into Obscura per month, whereas I have a lot of control over my schedule and no such contractual issues.

The end result is that Oleander's second chapter (which isn't done, but is through the major bottleneck of the writing phase) is going to be done a fair bit sooner than Francesco's. We love you all to the ends of the Earth for being so understanding about our release schedule, and we always keep in mind that Obscura must first and foremost be something we enjoy working on. But there's still some pressure on us to release chapters as soon as we can, and sitting on a completed chapter doesn't feel good.

We want Obscura's updates to go out sooner; more frequent updates are good for us getting a sense of progress, they're good for us in a business sense, and it just feels better in general. Oleander's second chapter going out sooner will release a lot of the pressure on us, and especially on completing Francesco's second chapter.

Here's what that means for you: we're still planning to be finished with Chapter Two in 2025. Oleander's second chapter will be coming out first, and as soon as we are confident we'll hit our planned release date we'll let you know. Francesco will come later in the year, and once we're certain about release dates we'll let you know that one, too.

And for anyone who's wondering about it: Mugi still wants to do a Oleander & Francesco image to go with the Cirrus & Keir one, and it would come with Francesco's second chapter to celebrate the completion of Chapter Two.

I know this isn't the ideal release plan for everyone (it obviously wasn't our first pick, either), so thank you so much for being understanding, and thank you to everyone who has been supporting us so far. We could not have gotten this far without your enthusiasm for this project, and we're so grateful for every one of you.

AHHHH BOOKS OF OURS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE QUEER LIBERATION LIBRARY ( @queerliblib ) I AM SO EXCITED.

If you don't know what the QLL is this is a great chance to find out!! They're an online library of hand-curated queer e-books with really awesome range (non-fiction! fiction! many genres and disciplines!), and they keep growing! Anyone in the US can become a member FOR FREE. From their webpage: Queer Liberation Library (QLL) is fighting to build a vibrant, flourishing queer future by connecting LGBTQ+ people with literature, information, and resources that celebrate the unique and empowering diversity of our community.

They're also a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and completely funded by donations (we donate a pittance monthly, I wish we could do more).

I HIGHLY recommend you go to their webpage here to find out more, and you can follow their tumblr (tagged above) too!

And if you didn't know - all our published anthologies to-date are available through multiple library apps, including Libby (if selected by the library) and Hoopla (should be available to all libraries with Hoopla subscriptions). let me be tired in peace. i have chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. my energy levels are markedly lower than the average able bodied person's. i do not regain much energy from sleep- the only times i have energy are when i am manic, from my bipolar disorder.

i am tired of having to push through being tired to do things that strain my body hand hurt me. i am tired of being forced to drink caffeine and take supplements and pills to "give me more energy" when all they do is make me feel like i'm running on fumes... while still tired. i am tired of having to force myself to do things i physically and mentally cannot because i literally do not have the energy necessary to do them

let me be tired in peace. let me be tired. let me express when i am tired and when i am too tired to do things. let me experience tiredness and let me choose what i do with that. let me choose whether or not i want to sleep, exercise, use medication, or stay awake, but tired, and doing low impact things.

Do you mind if I write an essay? I breed ghost types for a living, so there are a TON of them!

I breed Misdreavus and always have about 45 of them in my care, about 30 of whom are steady residents. Misdreavus don't "school" closely like Wishiwashi, so to keep that many from feeling crowded, I had to expand the building I inherited! Which was mostly a small forest cottage doing... sort of "outpatient" ghost work, with only one ghost being in permanent residence. He still stops by sometimes to check in. :}

Anyways, I also set up a covered space with a modified pidovecote to give them all a space rest, or just hide away for awhile. I set up an obstacle course in the back for training both my personal team and my battling line. I work magic with a few of my Mismagius and some of the Misdreavus intent on evolving, so I also built a little magic room and put up more shelves to store more tools, and painted runes and sigils on them. And the walls. And the floor. Probably would've sigil'd the ceiling too if I could reach it without wobbling on a ladder...

Anyways! They're ghosts and I don't want them to get into the treats and office supplies, so I had to make and set up cleanse tags over the most important stuff. It wasn't a big-ticket item, but on the other end of that spectrum, I also set up attractants and energy-storage stations they could draw from both outside the house and inside.

And for keeping the 'mon in the physical spaces: I have an aviary for the birds. If I had inherited a property from anyone other than a ghost expert, I would've needed to make it darker, with less light bulbs of lower wattage, but the lady who lived here before me already had it built specifically with ghosts in mind!

DEFENDERS OF THE LEGACY is a Bloody Roar fanzine celebrating the fighting game series about zoanthropic street brawlers. Through this mixed media project, we hope to show appreciation for all aspects of the series that kept us coming back through the years. 

As Bloody Roar nears its 30th birthday, we want to reflect on what its legacy is, what about it we want to preserve, defend, and share into the future. Through this, we can prove that it’s possible to keep the passion for this series alive in our own ways as fans.

This zine will include illustrations, writing, and merchandise focused on the characters and story. If we get enough interest we might also be able to include alternative media like comics, cosplay, and maybe even music! Our plan is for a digital-only release distributed for free to anyone who wishes to view it and share in this special series. What we’d really like is to make the PDF printer friendly so everyone can make their own personal physical copies at home.

Because this project is a celebration of canon, no OCs will feature in this particular zine. However, if there is enough interest, a separate BR OC zine could become a reality in the future.

Please bear in mind that, while pairings/couplings and shipping should not be a major focus for entries in this zine, interaction between characters is highly encouraged!

Due to Bloody Roar’s nature as a fighting game about beasts with teeth and claws, this zine will include depictions of violence and touch on mature themes like discrimination and human experimentation as portrayed in canon.

All material in this project will be rated as appropriate for the series itself: ESRB T / PEGI 12 / CERO C / PG-13

it/its pronouns are not inherently dehumanizing, unless the user wants them to be. it/its pronouns aren't weird. it/its pronouns aren't too hard to use. people who only use it/its pronouns need to have this be respected no matter what your beliefs are. you don't get to single out people with "weird" pronouns and misgender us and use incorrect pronouns. accept someone who uses it/its as you support someone who uses they/them. there's nothing wrong with it/its pronouns. respect its users.

i fucking love you if you're someone with ADHD who can't get proper fucking ADHD meds and medicate with caffeine, nicotine or other non prescription stimulants. so many of us do it without realizing it- you're doing your absolute best and it's not your fault what would actually help you is being held beyond your reach for petty reasons, be it poverty, medication shortages, or professionals refusing to prescribe ADHD meds, the system is doing its best to crush you and grind you into a paste but you are resisting and doing the best that you fucking can. i am sorry you've been put into this mess, but I want you to know that you're not alone and if you have to medicate, you have to medicate. it's worse than being miserable, unmotivated, and unable to function or even fucking move sometimes. i love you. stay strong

I assume you're asking about his accent (since there's no such thing as the UK in Obscuraworld!), and the honest answer is that we haven't made up our minds about it yet. There hasn't been any need to, since we decided we'd look into VA once Chapter Three is in production.
