I think the weirdest part of watching @strange-aeons new video about Cult Leader andy blake and Bit of Earth is going Oh My God i saw this guys posts when i was in the SPN fandom. OH MY GOD i remember this guy from CritRole fandom. Oh Holy Shit.

so sorry to Matthew (Mary + Matthew 4ever <3) but Mary and Charles Blake saving the pigs and then having a MUD FIGHT and then she makes him breakfast (I am immediately considering a headcanon about how Matthew taught her to scramble eggs one night when they went out to the pub which they ~never do~ but Matthew wanted to so she agreed and they got drunk and stumbled home late and hungry and snuck into the kitchens together but I digress) is making me twirl my hair and kick my feet like they're SO CUTE TOGETHER?? (and the banter is hot! and they're hot! WHY DID WE HAVE TO HAVE T*NY BE THE ONE SHE SLEPT WITH??)

On the subject of long train journeys, I've often wished I got round to writing a Mary/Charles Blake fic in which she somehow ends up on the sleeper train to Poland with him and they have to pretend to be married to justify her presence in his compartment and then somehow there's an awkward misunderstanding when they arrive in Warsaw and all his colleagues think she is his wife too and at this point it would be more embarassing for him to admit what happened as he starts his new job so they just roll with it being fake married in Poland for a bit.

It would have been such! a! fun! fic! (Also very stupid, but hey.)

Shipping Challenges

Are you getting a bit tired of the same old pairings? Would you like to see something new and different? Do you want to see how many people you can piss off, freak out, or have proclaim you their new best friend?

May I make some suggestions*:

1. Thomas Barrow x Jack Courtnay

Yes, everyone knows what a crush Thomas had on our dear blind soldier boy, but have you ever considered the irony that maybe Edward was the straight one in the family? That maybe Thomas would have even more in common with Edward’s hated little brother? What’s Jack really like, anyway? Mary and Edith would probably have said similar things about each other, but their fans - and neutral parties - agree they’re pretty decent people...or at least one of them is. What’s going on there anyway?

2. Thomas Barrow x Richard Clarkson

Yeah, okay, you may have run across this one. I have, but is it just me or is it nearly always toxic? Generally comes with a non-con tag, which is fine in and of itself, but there’s so much more you can do here! Lady Edith was ready to marry a man her father’s age, and in the queer community age differences were pretty common. Why not explore what, exactly, makes the good doctor so sympathetic to ‘that sort’? I have seen one (1) person try this in a healthy manner! I challenge everyone else to try it!

3. Guy Dexter x Chris Webster

C’mon, you know you want to!

4. Guy Dexter x Richard Ellis

Because there are only about a million fifty ways you can do this! Prequels! Sequels! Straight up AUs! And only about three quarters of them will get you banned from the fandom! LIVE DANGEROUSLY! Odds are good you will win the Fandom Love Of Your Life and a Fandom Arch Nemesis all in one go!

5. Thomas Barrow x Charles Blake

Is there a single thing about this pairing to hang your hat on? Near as I can remember, no! Not a damn thing! That means there’s nothing stopping you! Imagine all of the fun that the working-class-bloke-who-wants-to-be-a-toff and the toff-who-wants-to-be-a-working-class-bloke could have together!

* Before everyone asks why, if I want to see these so badly, I don’t write them myself. Have you seen my WIP folder? I’ve actually started some of these - multiple times! - but they are buried under.......everything else. If we have to wait for me to do it, it’ll never happen.

My nerd ass was watching a video on the top 100 Broadway songs and saw someone I recognized singing Being Alive from Company but couldn’t place him. Went to IMBD and saw he had been in charmed but didn’t think that was it. And then gasped because he was fucking CHARLES BLAKE in Downton Abbey (my unapologetic second fav suitor for Mary after Matthew). And then immediately decided I now need to watch more of The Crown and Bridgerton because I had no clue he was in them. Talk about fandoms colliding. Also, I had no idea Julian Overden could sing so that’s a thing for hat I’ll now go die over.

“Do we think he finally got the message?” Mary asked, cocking an enquiring eyebrow at Charles as Tony walked away with Mabel.

“Yes, I think so. A better question is are you finally getting the message?”

Mary frowned. “What do you mean? What message?”

“That you’re looking for love in the wrong places.”

“I beg your pardon?” Mary huffed.

“You’ve been dangling both me and Tony on a line, but you’ve never really been interested in either of us.”

“I… I… no, that’s not true!”

“It is and that’s fine. But neither of us is the man for you. And I think you know that. I also think you know that you’re looking in the wrong place. Love is already waiting for you if you’re only brave enough to grab hold of it.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Charles. I’m not even sure I’m ready to love again.”

Charles’ look pierced her. “Yes, you are. You’re looking, but you don’t see.”

“What don’t I see?”

“That you already have a man in your life who can give you everything you’re looking for.”

“Who?”

“You know who.”

“I don’t.”

“Tom.”

“Tom?” Mary’s breath caught in her throat.  

“Yes. Tom.”

Lady Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), the absolute queen of Downton Abbey. What more can be said?

Best line: I'm a woman Mary, I can be as contrary as I choose.

Day 6: Favourite characters.

William Buxton (Tom Hiddleston), Cranfords resident dog dad. Have to give a shout out to Sykes, Hiddles may have been my teenage crush but he will forever be my favourite actor RIP.

Best trait: Hopeless romantic.

Elizabeth Butler (Charlie Murphy) she has it all talent to sing, brains to train as a doctor, born into money yet has a heart for those "beneath" her. Truly embodies the spirit of Rebellion, I wish she was in the second series or at least had more than that one line mention.

Best feat: Joined the Easter rising faught and healed, all while looking stunning in her wedding dress.

This is in no particular order appart from definitely number 1.

Best line: Wouldn't dream of it *sassiest head wobble known to mankind*

Captain Declan Fraser (Frank Blake), Sanditon season twos real heartthrob. Them eyes you could swim in with the sarcastic smile, why did any of the ladies look at anyone else? Heroic, intelligent, dry sense of humour and sensitive to boot. Austinesque swoonwodthyness at its peak.

Abigail Hill (Emma Stone), so pure yet so evil, no wonder she is The Favourite. Amazing characterisation, still can't figure out if I love or loath her but I'm here for it.

Greatest feat: Changes the course of a war whilst holding the position of a maid.

Benadict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). If Colin is the labrador of the family, Benadict is the cat. Appreciative of the finer things in life, values aesthetics, is willing to play by his own rules and is very loving to his family (I especially love his relationship with Eloise, he doesn't understand her struggles but he still wants to listen and share a cheeky cig).

Best line: Poetry is the art of revealing precious truth with words.
