i just realised the jar analogy is actually so real right?? cause see its like they're in a little snowglobe and i'm a little kid mesmerised by the sparkles every time they fall anew!! and the snowglobe keeps getting shaken over and over and over again because i love seeing the sparkles fly and float through the air and how they dance around each other, falling slightly differently each time, always finally settling into a stable position

It's been a week since I got back from Tokyo, and I'm still disappointed by the Kingdom Hearts Ichiban Kuji. It was supposed to start the 31st of May, the day I was flying home. But I checked like a dozen participating 7/11 stores before I went to the airport, and none of them had started it yet. Sigh...

As a silver lining, I did find a 7/11 that had those chocolate wafers out early, so I grabbed a few.

Came with that Missing Link pre-registration and everything. Wonder what's going on with that... And while I'm showing stuff off, here's the other KH merch I bought in my limited time!

Do you ever think about the unexplored narrative foil of Lloyd and the FSM? I mean yeah he’s got grandpa’s powers but really Lloyd’s also the human variant of his story.

The first spinjitsu master was a middle ground between oni and dragon, and he was pressured to choose a side. Instead of choosing, he escaped that realm and started a new life.

Lloyd’s father and uncle (literally oni and dragon) both expected Lloyd on their side. There was pressure on Lloyd to choose between oni and dragon, and Lloyd, though he picks the side that is objectively better ethically, doesn’t get to escape it like his grandfather did. He’s permanently caught between these bc he doesn’t have the power that his grandfather had to just leave. And he has this almost obligation to Stay Stuck Between Them.

It’s so tragic to me how so many of Lloyd’s problems could have been solved by each of his family members in their own time dealing with and getting closure in their own traumas and battles. But the FSM, Garmadon, Wu, Misako, even the oni and dragon themselves, they all just leave their problems to fester until they pass and now Lloyd is fixing ALL of them.

OHH MY GOD ok so i was just thinking about my other mc for @infamous-if and was trying to think of another mirror-related name for her band because i really enjoyed the whole rebranding-but-not-quite vibe that my other one had (going from 'mirror in the creek' to 'broken mirror'), and i was like hmm what else is related to mirrors? or maybe broken mirrors?? and then i was like ooooh 'seven years of bad luck' could be a cool name!! because that's the superstition around broken mirrors!!!!!! yeah that sounds kind of badass!

and then.

then i realised.

seven years of bad luck. & my original mc's band is called 'broken mirror' when it used to be 'mirror in the creek'. but now that seven has left with a messy breakup and a huge falling out, the band has changed their name to 'broken mirror'. and what's associated with broken mirrors. is seven years of bad luck. *seven* years of bad luck. are you fucking kidding me.

but i don't think that's the case. cultural stagnation isn't /necessarily/ indicative of decline. on the contrary, it often precedes a cultural renaissance.
