Eating the seaweed Ecklonia cava may be able to slow down or prevent Parkinson's disease, according to a 2024 study. Researchers found that antioxidants in the seaweed – which is often used in soups and salads in Asian cuisine – may protect our neurons from free radicals to prevent this debilitating disease. Parkinson's is a condition that affects the nervous system, causing symptoms like shaking, stiffness and difficulty moving. It happens when neurons that produce dopamine – a chemical that helps control movement – start to die off in the brain. While Parkinson's is not itself fatal, it causes serious complications that can lead to death. Unfortunately, there is no cure yet.

The Ultimate Parasite Slayer - over the last few weeks at the Sunfired wellness retreat I’ve been religiously eating the papaya & its seeds for breakfast!
Papaya seeds have super powerful health benefits, including the ability to kill intestinal parasites. They contain proteolytic enzymes like papain, which help break down and eliminate parasites from the digestive system. The seeds also have antimicrobial properties that can combat harmful bacteria and fungi, contributing to overall gut health.
Especially as someone who has spent years eating animal protein I’ve been introducing foods that fight against parasites, like these papaya seeds. @aris_latham recommends to eat the seeds WHOLE as this is the most effective way for the parasites 🪱 magnetise to them while they travel through the gut!
And yes it’s true you can see 👀 them come straight through the other end 😱😳

Apple cider vinegar, or ACV, has been touted for its numerous health benefits for centuries. Here are some of the most well-researched benefits:
Digestive aid: ACV contains acetic acid, which helps break down proteins and carbohydrates, reducing symptoms of indigestion and bloating. Why: Acetic acid's pH level helps to balance the body's natural digestive processes.
Weight loss: ACV contains pectin, a soluble fiber that helps reduce appetite and increase feelings of fullness. Why: Pectin slows down the absorption of glucose and insulin, leading to weight loss.
Lower blood sugar levels: ACV contains acetic acid, which has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce glucose production in the liver. Why: Acetic acid's ability to improve insulin sensitivity helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Heart health: ACV contains polyphenols, such as quercetin and epicatechin, which have antioxidant properties that help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. Why: Polyphenols' antioxidant properties protect against cardiovascular disease by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.
Antimicrobial properties: ACV contains acetic acid, which has antibacterial and antifungal properties that help combat infections. Why: Acetic acid's antimicrobial properties make it effective against a wide range of microorganisms.
Anti-inflammatory: ACV contains polyphenols, such as quercetin and epicatechin, which have anti-inflammatory properties that help alleviate symptoms of conditions like arthritis and gout. Why: Polyphenols' anti-inflammatory properties reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms.
Improved dental health: ACV contains acetic acid, which helps reduce tooth decay and gum disease by killing bacteria and acid-producing microbes in the mouth. Why: Acetic acid's antibacterial properties eliminate harmful bacteria that contribute to tooth decay.
Lower cholesterol levels: ACV contains acetic acid, which has been shown to inhibit the production of cholesterol in the liver. Why: Acetic acid's ability to inhibit cholesterol production reduces LDL cholesterol levels.
Improved gut health: ACV contains prebiotic fibers like pectin, which help promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. Why: Prebiotic fibers feed beneficial bacteria, supporting a healthy gut microbiome.
Antioxidant-rich: ACV contains antioxidants like quercetin and epicatechin, which help protect against oxidative stress and cell damage caused by free radicals. Why: Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and cell damage.
be cautious about quality/quantity vinegar consumption.
Use organic, unfiltered, unprocessed apple cider vinegar, which is cloudy, meaning it contains the “mother.”
Two teaspoons to two tablespoons is the general dosage recommendation. If you want to drink it, dilute it with water or your favorite juice or tea.
Oral: For diabetes, dilute 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water daily. For weight loss, drink diluted dose with high carbohydrate meals.

If you’re dealing with inflammation, focusing on healthy fats and antioxidants can make a big difference.
Antioxidants are powerful in reducing inflammation and supporting overall cell health. When our bodies face stress, pollution, or processed foods, free radicals (unstable molecules) are produced. These free radicals can trigger oxidative stress, leading to chronic inflammation and even health issues if left unchecked.
Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, protecting cells and tissues from damage. Found in colorful fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds, antioxidants support your immune system and help your body stay balanced.
Adding more antioxidant-rich foods to your daily diet is a simple, tasty way to protect your body. Try the foods shown. Berries, leafy greens, green tea, and dark chocolate are some of the best antioxidants out there! 🌈🍓🫐🥬🍫🍵

🌟Weigh-in at 135.4 lbs
🌟45 min on treadmill hills
🌟Gut-healthy meals
🌟Made a winter arc inspo for my Pinterest board
Lol you can’t read the treadmill, but overall did almost 17k steps for the whole day. Steamed egg with spinach, mushroom, and green onion on top of quinoa for a high protein, gut-healthy breakfast. Old fashioned oatmeal with cinnamon, vanilla extract, chopped almonds, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, and blueberries. Meal prepped sautéed bok choy, tofu, and shiitake mushrooms topped with hemp hearts and a side of quinoa for extra protein.

Researchers found that a combination of proteins and antioxidants doubles the anti-inflammatory properties in immune cells. They hope to be able to study the health effects on humans.
Whenever bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances enter the body, our immune systems react by deploying white blood cells and chemical substances to protect us.
This reaction, commonly known as inflammation, also occurs whenever we overload tendons and muscles and is characteristic of diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
Antioxidants known as polyphenols are found in humans, plants, fruits, and vegetables. This group of antioxidants is also used by the food industry to slow the oxidation and deterioration of food quality and thereby avoid off flavors and rancidity. Polyphenols are also known to be healthy for humans, as they help reduce oxidative stress in the body that gives rise to inflammation.
