Facial icing is exactly what it sounds like, the process of applying ice to your face. Low temps causes blood to rise beneath the surface of the skin, which has a variety of benefits.

The benefits of icing your face

Reduces swelling, puffiness and tenderness : The cold helps help drain excess fluids from the lymphatic system, which also help decrease facial puffiness.

Lessens the appearance of under-eye bags : The same lymphatic drainage that reduces overall puffiness can specifically reduce the appearance of a puffy under-eye area. Gently icing under the eyes can help release fluid buildup, drain toxins and cause a tightening effect.

Brightens your complexion : Who needs top-of-the-line highlighter when an ice cube can give you the same glow for free? Icing constricts the blood vessels is your face, which can lessen the appearance of pores and wrinkles and make you look lighter, brighter and more radiant overall.

Free and easy to do : You don’t need any fancy equipment or expensive products to ice your face. For exactly zero dollars, it offers an easily accessible way to tend to your skin care needs.

How to safely ice your face

All you need to ice your face is, well, some ice. But Scarso doesn’t recommend it applying it directly to your face on its own, as it could cause irritation and redness.

Instead, wrap an ice cube in a thin cloth, which will protect the skin on your face and your hands, and begin to lightly massage your face. “Rub the ice around your face in a circular motion,” she advises. “You want constant movement.”

Lightly massage the following areas:

- Around your mouth

- Cheeks

- Chin

- Forehead

- Jaw

- Nose

Don’t let the ice rest on any portion of your skin for too long, as it could cause that aforementioned irritation and redness — and even frostbite. And do remember to moisturize after icing your face so that your skin doesn’t dry out.

My personal recommendation and opinion : As someone who suffers from acne, I do not recommend buying the Ice cube mold. The idea that I will icing my face with an ice cube and then put it back in the freezer or add some water to the mold and not be able to disinfect it the right way definitely turned me off the idea of ​​buying this product. But this is my opinion on this product, everyone has a different experience.

Oooooooh, I’d say I don’t necessarily believe in ghosts but I also definitely don’t not believe in them, the idea that they might be real is somehow comforting in a way

8. do you change into specific clothes for the house when you get home?

I don’t actually, idk I have a weird thing about wearing more than one outfit in a day (unless I’m going to like a formal dinner or something, then I wouldn’t wear my formal outfit all day but that’s very rare especially since covid lol)

9. do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it)?

Tbh I just use face wash and moisturizer and that’s it

Clean & Clear oil control film 💗

This is now my favorite blotting paper, it really does the job absorbing oil, leaving my face a lot fresher whenever after I use it. My face oils too much, and it’s mostly the reason why I have acne. When I started using this film, I had lesser acne. I use a lot of these in a day. Also, the scent is giving!!! It leaves a very good scent, that’s why I love this much more than the blue one. I’d give it a 9/10 🤙

It is available in Watsons, Mercury, and in other drugstores, supermarkets in Rob or SM. Its price ranges around 180 pesos.

But if you have guys reco about oiliness, I’d love to hear about it. I use too much of this film. I must have something to like prevent the too much oiling, or just lessen it, not just remove it too many times in a day.

Hello friends, I need some skincare help

I am wanting to come off of prescription Clindamycin for acne because I have to start paying for my skincare by myself soon along with a bunch of other adult stuff

I have dry, somewhat acne prone, sensitive skin and cannot use fragranced products and I used to have oily acne prone skin but that changed when I grew up- I'm 18 so I don't need like peptides and wrinkle stuff, just acne (if that helps)

CeraVe Cleansers (cetearyl alcohol)

I have an oily forehead and when i used CeraVe's Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser, i started to break out there.

I was previously the Foaming Facial Cleanser from the same brand and didn't have any problems with it. I watched a video about the different CeraVe cleansers and didn't make any further research on my own (lesson now learnt).

Since my skin didn't react with the Foaming Facial Cleanser, maybe it was an old formula because the bottle was sitting in a cabinet for a while at home before i used it. I'm too scared to test if the new formula is still harmless because my forehead is healed now.

Now onto the main villain of this story. I hadn't made the link between my breakouts and the CeraVe Cream-to-Foam Cleanser until i saw an Instagram Reel about an ingredient that appears often in CeraVe products that basically helps fungal acne grow.

[Def. Fungal acne looks like small little red or white bumps of 1-2 mm often in clusters together. They look like fungi and often don't have whiteheads. (If they do, it's usually tiny - in my experience.) It usually appears in oily areas of your skin where yeast can grow like your forehead, temples, and hairline. Yeast can also grow in sweaty areas like your shoulders, back, and neck.]

[Def. I'm referring to whiteheads as the white dots that often appear in the middle of a pimple that contains pus. I am not referring to the small hard bumps that are usually the color of your skin (milia).]

Cetearyl alcohol | Cetyl alcohol | Stearyl alcohol

These assholes are the culprit. They act like food to fungal acne and the fungal acne becomes worse with it. Please check if any of your products contain these ingredients if you're struggling with fungal acne. After learning about this, i switched to a cleanser without any of these ingredients and the fungal acne was going away. At least try and stop using that product for a while and see how your skin reacts.

Everyday soothing, moisturizing serum that won’t irritate even the most sensitive skin

Essence/serum/ample in one

⭐Ottie Vita Glutathione 100 Sheet Mask

Almost gatekept this

The only sheet mask I hoard

Instantly brightens and gives you that fresh I just got a facial look (moisturization is mid)

All other sheet masks I’ve tried irritate my skin and don’t do anything special 

⭐Ottie Blemish Clean Gel Cream

Affordable, medium-light moisturizer for all seasons (prob not enough for dry skin)

Never breaks me out

Maybe not for super sensitive  skin; check ingredients beforehand

⭐NOW Foods Tea Tree Essential Oils, Roller Ball

Non-drying spot treatment alternative if you like tea tree

⭐Dr. Althea Vitamin C Boosting Serum

Non-irritating alternative to vitamin C serums

Slower results but the same brightening concept

Use the brand’s Gentle Vitamin C Serum if you want something stronger but still geared toward being more gentle than typical vc serums

⭐Bye Bye Blemish Acne Drying Lotion

Great overnight option, especially for on-the-surface blemishes

Cheaper but does the same thing as the Mario Badescu one

Can sting sometimes, but only momentarily 

⭐Rosen Break-Out Spot Treatment for Large Bumps and Breakouts

Another amazing drying-type spot treatment

Gentler than the Bye Bye one but works just as well

This one doesn’t sting like other drying lotions when applied

⭐SKINFOOD Pantothenic Water Parsley Smashing Powder

Just another drying lotion option, but it really helps with blemishes too

This one also doesn’t sting when applied

⭐ TKTK Acne Pimple Patches

⭐LitBear Large Pimple Patches

⭐Ma:nyo Bifida Biome Ampoule Toner

A toner I will always repurchase and use

Gentle everyday toner for cotton pads 

Never once irritated my skin or broken me out in 3+ years

No sticky residue and can potentially help with surface texture over time

⭐The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors +PhytoCerammides Rich Moisturizer

For rich, balmy surface-level moisture

Great topper to seal everything in; I’d compare it to the B5 Balm, but this is easier to blend out, more oily than cream, and has a nicer finish, in my opinion

⭐Globe Zinc Oxidize Ointment 20%

As a healing/protecting spot treatment for popped pimples, open skin, etc.

Basic, cheap, safe for sensitive skin

⭐Cerave Healing Ointment 

As a topper or for super dry/irritated patches

Good for lips too

⭐MEDIPEEL+ Red Lacto Collagen Wrapping Mask 

Amazing peel-off mask that doesn’t rip off your baby hair lol

Skin is bright and pores appear smaller after use

Tip: wear overnight on large pores, like where you’d put a nose strip

⭐Diaso’s cotton pads 

The superior choice, no cap

⭐ETUDE Sung Jung x Director’s Moisture Sun Cream

I’ve mostly given up on trying others, and this is my failproof go-to

No irritation, no leftover residue, can wear all day and not start to break out or feel stuffy (two layers might do that to you, so you can use a cotton toner in between or use an SPF stick for reapplication)

⭐Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar

I prefer the black one ovver the beige smoothing one

Black one has an oily feel, but it works for my dry skin and doesn’t make me flake up

⭐Rainbow Research French Green Clay 

The only clay I repurchase

Perfect base for adding in other things, or use alone for routine pore/acne care

I always  mix this with a tiny smidge of Burt’s Bees Detoxifying Clay Mask; it’s seriously the perfect combo for a clear, bright complex immediately after use

⭐ Klair’s Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream

I don’t do makeup or anything, but I’ve come to love this for covering obvious spots when I go out

Doesn’t make me break out and works with dry skin

LET DOWNS OF 2024

❌Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream

Just boring, really 

❌Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick 

Too irritating and strong for me

❌Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask 

The secret is that this is a basic clay mask that isn’t really healing 

❌CNP Laboratory Propolis Lipcerin

This is quite annoying to use, construction-wise

❌Spa Sciences Blemish Potion

This is so hard to wash off in the morning, and I have better drying lotions

❌Proactive Sulfur Skin Purifying Mask

I tried so hard to figure out what this did for my skin, and I think nothing is truly the answer

❌APLB Glutathione Niacinamide Facial Toner

I struggled to finish this; there just wasn’t anything revolutionary

It also had a semi-sticky finish

❌Mary&May CICA Soothing Sun Cream

Everyone raves about this; it just didn't apply well for me

❌eSpoir Water Splash Sun Cream

I have yet to find a tone-up/color-correcting SPF that blends out well on my skin
