Civilian death counts in the Israel-Hamas war have been inflated and distorted to portray Israel as deliberately targeting innocent civilians, a new study found.
The report from the UK-based Henry Jackson Society found that news outlets failed to distinguish between civilian and combatant casualties and relied on manipulated statistics from the Hamas-run Health Ministry when reporting on the war.
Gaza officials claim more than 44,700 people have been killed following the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks on Israel, but does not acknowledge that upwards of 17,000 were Hamas terrorists — a fact the media often omits, the study found, citing Israeli and US military and intelligence reports for its data.
The “Questionable Counting” study, published on Saturday, charged that the ministry overstated casualty data by including natural deaths and over-reporting the numbers of women and children killed.
Men were included on lists of women killed in the conflict, while adults were included on counts of child deaths, researchers found.
“This misclassification contributes to the narrative that civilian populations, particularly women and children, bear the brunt of the conflict, potentially influencing sentiment and media coverage,” said Andrew Fox, the study’s author.
Around 5,000 natural deaths appear to have been added to the list of casualties, including cancer patients who later appeared on lists of those still receiving treatment, researchers said.
The errors have “led to a narrative where the Israel Defense Forces are portrayed as disproportionately targeting civilians,” the report states.
The investigation looked at all articles with Gaza fatality statistics published from February through May 2024 across eight major outlets: CNN, BBC News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Associated Press, Reuters and the Australian ABC.

Charis Hoard at MMFA:
Former president and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump recently called for CBS’ and ABC’s broadcast licenses to be revoked, a continuation of the kind of adversarial rhetoric he has used against the press since his presidency. Project 2025, the right-wing policy blueprint for the next Republican administration, has also argued for the defunding of public radio and broadcast networks.
Throughout his reelection campaign, Trump has called for broadcast TV licenses to be revoked, promised investigation into media outlets, and painted the media as “so bad for our country”
Trump called for CBS’ broadcast license to be revoked while accusing the network of editing interview footage to the benefit of Vice President Kamala Harris. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump called for the network’s broadcast license to be revoked and claimed that it is trying to “hide [the] fact” that Harris “is a Moron.” In a later post, Trump claimed that CBS’ 60 Minutes “unscrupulously replaced an answer” that Harris had given during an interview with the program with “another answer that had nothing to do with the question asked,” baselessly calling the action “illegal.” [The Hill, 10/10/24; Twitter/X, 10/10/24, 10/14/24; Snopes, 10/11/24]
In September, Trump called for ABC’s broadcast license to be revoked. The morning after his presidential debate with Harris, Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt asked Trump why the ABC moderators didn’t “correct” Harris during the debate. Trump responded, “They’re dishonest, and because I think ABC took a big hit last night. I mean, to be honest, they're a news organization. They have to be licensed to do it. They ought to take away their license for the way they did that.” [Twitter/X, 9/11/24]
Trump also attacked debate moderators, ABC’s David Muir and Linsey Davis, for fact-checking his lies and described them as “low lives.” During a speech in Arizona, Trump claimed, “The public was not fooled. They saw right through it, Kamala’s lies and unprecedented partisan interference of two low-life anchors. They’re low lives.” [The Hill, 9/12/24]
Trump threatened The New York Times, saying, “Wait until you see what I'm going to do with them.” In an interview, The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro asked Trump, “How do you fight a legacy media that is once again rigging the informational environment of the election?” Trump replied, “The New York Times is one of the most dishonest of all. I watched this, New York Times, and it's a classic. Wait until you see what I'm going to do with them, you're going to have so much fun.” [The Daily Wire, The Ben Shapiro Show, 10/8/24]
While discussing his live streamed X interview in August, Trump attacked the media, writing, “I absolutely HATE the Fake News Media. So bad for our Country!” Trump: “All the Fake News wants to report is that the servers crashed (because of the tremendous volume!), and the show opened a little late. What they should be reporting was the incredible number of people that were listening. I absolutely HATE the Fake News Media. So bad for our Country!” [Truth Social, 8/13/24; The New York Times, 8/13/24]
During an appearance at the 2024 National Association of Black Journalists Convention, Trump attacked moderator and ABC correspondent Rachel Scott for citing his track record on race. Trump: “I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner. A first question. You don’t even say, ‘Hello, how are you?’ Are you with ABC? Because I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network. And I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit — I love the Black population of this country, I’ve done so much for the Black population of this country.” [The Hill, 7/31/24]
In October 2023, Trump questioned whether CBS News should be able to access public airwaves after its interview with President Joe Biden. In a post on Truth Social after CBS’ interview with Biden, Trump stated: “The show ‘60 Minutes’ should be ashamed of themselves. They just interviewed Crooked Joe Biden, and led him along like a lost child. … Why should CBS get free public airwaves for this highly partisan ‘show’[?]” [MSNBC, 10/17/23]
In late 2023, Trump accused media outlets such as NBC and MSNBC of “Country Threatening Treason” and asserted that he would investigate them if reelected in November. Trump: “They are almost all dishonest and corrupt, but Comcast, with its one-side and vicious coverage by NBC NEWS, and in particular MSNBC, often and correctly referred to as MSDNC (Democrat National Committee!), should be investigated for its ‘Country Threatening Treason.’” [Forbes, 9/24/23]
The right-wing authoritarian war on supposed “fake news” are part of both Donald Trump and Project 2025’s plans to attack and delegitimatize all non-MAGA-friendly sources.
The MAGA-friendly sources are the biggest fake news purveyors in America, not the “MSM.”

please post about what’s happening in palestine you have a big account
A lot has happened since i left. I’m still educating myself on everything that’s been going on so if i get anything wrong, please let me know. Thank you.
As of now, 7,028 Palestinians have been killed. Many of them are minors.
Recently, Israel denied the Gaza hospital attack. In response, the Palestinian Ambassador called the Israel PM a liar for blaming Islamic Jihad.
I found an article from the New York Times that says American officials say the attack likely killed 100 to 300 people. Gaza officials estimate the death toll closer to 500.
Here are some accounts that have more information and where you can donate.
Some more news about recent events that had happened, one of which has affected my family.
In Lewiston, Maine, a a mass shooting occurred in a bowling alley. The shooter is on the run, his name is Robert Card. At least 22 people have been killed and over 50 people are injured.
The following people are some of the vicitms I could find as more information comes out:
Tricia Asselin, the only woman killed.
Bill Brackett
Michael Deslauriers II, had a girlfriend and three children
Bob Violette
Steven Vozzella
Joseph Walker, 56, he was the manager at Schemegees Bar & Grill. His father told ABC News that his son attempted to go after the shooter but he was shot twice in the stomach.
Peyton Brewer-Ross
Tommy Conrad, he is survived by his 9 year old daughter. He was a new manager at the bowling alley.
Both Steven Vozzella and Bill Brackett were part of a gathering of deaf people playing cornhole at Schemegees Bar & Grill.
In Mexico, Hurricane Otis has left 27 people dead and four are missing. In my house, we cut the cable because it was getting very expensive so we only have wifi so I don’t want the news on TV. I learned about this Hurricane when my aunt from Mexico called my mom yesterday and told her all the damage that the hurricane had caused. I have family in Acapulco, Guerrero, so we’ve been making calls and watching the news on our phones.
Hurricane Otis was a category five.
The storm is one of the strongest ever to hit the southwest coast.
“Communication and power systems remained largely off in much of the state, making the scope of the hurricane’s toll difficult to ascertain.”
Acapulco is a port city with more than 852,000 people. It is the largest city in the state of Guerrero. Many hotels were packed with tourist since the city was hosting a international mining industry convention.
80% of hotels were damaged by the storm according to the governor of Guerrero.
Acapulco remains without power, water and communication.
More than 8,000 members of the armed forces have been deployed to the area. More than 500 emergency shelters were opened for residents.
The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has acknowledged that the government was late in arriving because of the havoc that Hurricane Otis had left.
I am praying for everyone that has been affected by these tragic events. I know people hear this a lot and think “oh they’re just saying that, but they don’t actually mean it. It’s just to make them look good for the media.”
No, in my family, we always pray for everyone. Especially now since dia de los muertos is coming up, my family prays a lot during that time. I am catholic, I was raised catholic and I pray for peace on this earth.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
End gun violence
Pray for Acapulco 🇲🇽
If anyone would like to add links for share more information, please do so!!
Here are some links that I found talking about Palestine.

The Justice Department and 30 states filed a major antitrust lawsuit Thursday seeking the breakup of Ticketmaster owner Live Nation Entertainment over what they allege is the company's unlawful dominance over the concert ticket sales industry.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, accuses the company of creating a monopoly over the live entertainment market that has harmed music fans, artists and promoters around the United States through higher prices and frustrating consumer experiences.
"The result is that fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. "It is time to break up Live Nation."
"For too long, Live Nation and Ticketmaster have unfairly and illegally run the world of live events, abusing their dominance to overcharge fans, bully venues, and limit artists," New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement. "When companies like Live Nation control every aspect of an event, it leads to bad blood -- concertgoers and sports fans suffer and are forced to pay more. Everybody agrees, Live Nation and Ticketmaster are the problem and it's time for a new era. Today, we are taking this important action to protect consumers and force big companies to stop abusing their influence and get in formation."
The sweeping lawsuit is a product of a more than two-year-long investigation into the company that has come under growing public scrutiny since late 2022, following a fiasco over presales for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.
Ticketmaster, which controls more than 70% of the market for ticketing and live events, crashed during the first day of sales, leaving millions of fans out of luck or seeking higher-priced tickets on the secondary market.
The Justice Department's lawsuit accuses LiveNation of seeking to lock out competitors to protect what the company dubs its "flywheel," described in court documents as "a self-reinforcing business model that captures fees and revenue from concert fans and sponsorship, uses that revenue to lock up artists to exclusive promotion deals, and then uses its powerful cache of live content to sign venues into long-term exclusive ticketing deals, thereby starting the cycle all over again."
Live Nation did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment on the lawsuit, though its president, Joe Berchtold, has otherwise defended the company's business practices -- including during a contentious appearance before Congress early last year.
Live Nation released a statement Thursday following the lawsuit, saying, in part, that it's "absurd to claim that Live Nation and Ticketmaster are wielding monopoly power."
The lawsuit "blames concert promoters and ticketing companies -- neither of which control ticket prices -- for high ticket prices," Live Nation said. "It ignores everything that is actually responsible for higher ticket prices, from increasing production costs to artist popularity, to 24/7 online ticket scalping that reveals the public’s willingness to pay far more than primary tickets cost. It blames Live Nation and Ticketmaster for high service charges, but ignores that Ticketmaster retains only a modest portion of those fees. In fact, primary ticketing is one of the least expensive digital distributions in the economy."
"The defining feature of a monopolist is monopoly profits derived from monopoly pricing. Live Nation in no way fits the profile. Service charges on Ticketmaster are no higher than elsewhere, and frequently lower. And even accounting for sponsorship, an advertising business that helps keep ticket prices down, the company’s overall net profit margin is at the low end of profitable S&P 500 companies," Live Nation said.
"It is also clear that we are another casualty of this administration’s decision to turn over antitrust enforcement to a populist urge that simply rejects how antitrust law works," Live Nation later wrote, in part. "Some call this 'anti-monopoly,' but in reality it is just anti-business."
MORE: Justice Department to announce lawsuit against Live Nation over ticket prices: Sources
Among the practices singled out by the DOJ are allegations Live Nation exploited its relationship with the company Oak View Group that the lawsuit says describes itself as a "hammer" for Live Nation and has avoided bidding against the company for exclusive agreements with artists and major venues.
The company, according to the Justice Department, also allegedly carried out a pattern of threatening potential competitors seeking to enter the concert promotions market and creating a climate where venue owners would fear entering into contracts with Live Nation-Ticketmaster's rivals.
Live Nation-Ticketmaster is also accused of using lengthy exclusive contracts with venues that the lawsuit claims prevent them from switching to better or cheaper ticketing systems, and, in certain instances, allegedly blocked venues from even being able to use multiple ticketers for events.
Live Nation was already under a consent decree with the Justice Department after it approved its merger with Ticketmaster during the Obama administration in 2010 -- under conditions that included prohibiting the company from threatening concert venues that opted to use competing ticket firms. That decree was extended in 2019 after the department found the company violated its conditions.
The lawsuit is the latest in a series of aggressive antitrust efforts by the Biden administration, which has brought similar enforcement efforts challenging companies like Apple, Google and Amazon over what it alleges are clear anti-competitive practices that have served to harm American consumers.

Migrant teen stabbed to death in NYC by group of men who asked if he spoke English
New York City Police Department says officers responded to a 911 call for an assault in Lower Manhattan around 7:30 p.m on Thursday. Upon arrival, police found a 17-year-old with a stab wound to the chest. The other man, an 18-year-old, was stabbed in the left arm with a screwdriver. Emergency responders transported both individuals to NYC Health and Hospitals / Bellevue. The 17-year-old, identified as Yeremi Colino, died from his injuries. The 18-year-old is in stable condition. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, a spokesperson for the NYPD told The Independent. Investigators managed to recover a knife from the scene. Both teens had been living in Manhattan hotels, according to ABC 7. Before the attack, investigators said a suspect asked the teens if they spoke English. They were stabbed after they replied “No”. Mayor Eric Adams told the outlet the incident could be classified as a hate crime if it’s determined the men were stabbed for not speaking English.

Police offers detailed timeline of the gunman’s movements
Joseph Kenny, the Police Department’s chief of detectives, said at a news briefing on Friday that the suspect arrived in the city at 10:11 p.m. on Nov. 24 on a bus that originated out of Atlanta. Detectives have looked at the route the bus took and plan to reach out to the police department of each of the six or seven towns the bus stopped in, he said. Upon arrival in New York, the man took a cab to the New York Hilton Midtown — where he would later fatally shoot Mr. Thompson — and spent about half an hour walking in the area of the hotel before checking in to a hostel on the Upper West Side, the chief said. At the hostel, he stayed under fake identification, always using cash, avoiding conversation and hiding his face with his mask even during meals, the chief said. He never spoke with anyone and lowered his mask once to speak, smiling, to the hostel clerk when he first checked in, the chief said. On Wednesday, the day of the shooting, the gunman left the hostel at 5:30 a.m. and likely rode a bicycle toward Midtown, Chief Kenny said. Though investigators do not have video of him taking the bike to the scene of the shooting, they are speculating that he did because it took him only 10 minutes to get from the hostel on 103rd Street to West 54th Street. The police are “still looking into” the possibility that he could have stolen the bike, he said. At 5:41 a.m., he arrived at the Hilton and began wandering the area near the hotel, walking back and forth on West 54th Street, before entering a Starbucks, where he bought a bottle of water and a snack bar. He fatally shot Mr. Thompson at 6:44 a.m. He then got back on the bike and made it into Central Park four minutes later. He left the park at 6:56 a.m., still on the bicycle. Surveillance cameras captured footage of him, still on the bicycle, two minutes later at 86th Street and Columbus Avenue. By 7 a.m. he was still on 86th street, but no longer on the bicycle. He then took a cab northbound, to a bus station near the George Washington Bridge that is used by interstate buses. By 7:30 a.m. he had made it to the station, where video surveillance showed him going in but not coming out, Chief Kenny said. The police have not been able to find the bicycle, he said. But officers had found a backpack they believed to be the one worn by the gunman, after more than 100 officers searched a wooded area, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the development.

Work had been difficult the last few weeks. That big case involving Levinson had finally gone to the arbitration phase and it looked like it would go in your favor. Nick knew you had been stressed, working long hours and basically wanted a break from everything.
A package arrived at your office on Friday. “A delivery, Ms. YLN,” your assistant said.
“Who’s it from?”
She read the label. “From NV. Not sure who that is.”
You smiled softly. NV, Nick Vaughn “Thank you Alissa. You can go for the day.”
“Thank you, Ms. YLN.” She put the box on your desk and left.
You went too open the box. On top was a note from Nick.
My darling YN, I’m so proud of all the work you done. You deserve a night out. I hope these fit. I love you, Nicky.
You pulled the tissue away to see an amazing green lace dress. “Oh Nicky,” you whispered as you pulled it out. Next to them were some matching green heels. And another note.
Dinner is at 7.
You squealed a little and looked at your watch. It was 530 so plenty of time. You grabbed your makeup bag and headed to the bathroom. After touching up, you put on the dress and heels. As you grabbed your purse, a call came in from security. “Yes?”
There is a car here for you ma’am.
“Ok thank you.” Really Nick, a car service. You shook your head, but the smile never left. You made it to the lobby and the doorman held the door for you as you climbed in. And waiting for you was champagne and two dozen roses. What the hell? You smelled the roses, smiling at the subtle scent and took the glass of champagne that was poured for you.
As you made your way to wherever Nick had planned, you reflected on your time with him. He had been on edge since that time with the train girl, Brooke, when you had met him. He had been playing at a club where you had sat down, waiting for a blind date. A date that never showed. He saw you sitting, looking more and more deflated as time went by. When the group had a break, he headed over and asked if you were ok. He had been sweet, just a guy noticing a girl.
He asked you to stay that night until he was done so he could walk you home. And before you knew it, it was morning. You had breakfast together, the conversation flowing. He walked you home and gave you a kiss on the cheek.
You had texted and talked for another six weeks before your next official date. That had been three years ago, and you were thankful for being stood up because otherwise, you wouldn’t have Nick.
Arriving at your destination, you looked up to see that you were your favorite restaurant in New York. What was he up to? You made your way to the hostess. “Uh... Table for Vaughn?”
“Yes ma’am, right this way.” She led you down to the back of the restaurant to a private dining room. That was filled with candles and flowers. And Nick, in a suit, is waiting for you.
“Nicky,” you gasped, looking around. That romantic bastard had pulled off the most romantic surprise.
“Hey beautiful.” He came over to place a sweet kiss. He ran his hands over your arms, causing goosebumps, the sensation of warmth spreading. “I wanted to celebrate how amazing you are.”
“You didn’t have to do all of this,” waving your arm about.
“I wanted to, love.” He pulled out a chair and got you seated. A waiter came in and poured you each a glass of champagne. As you toast, you notice something about Nick demeanor.
“Nick, what’s going on? You seem... anxious, or excited.”
“A little of both. I Have an idea.” His eyes turn mischievous. He pulled out a gift-wrapped box.
He slid the box to you. You opened it and saw a pair of panties.
Nick grinned as he held up a remote.
“Do you want to play a game?”
