As of right now, I will not be back-posting previous seasons without a specific request as most items will be out of stock or near-impossible to find at this point with how much time has passed.

Why do you post some cast looks and not others? Right now I am focusing on pieces directly related to 911, so if it is posted directly on the 911onabc Instagram or is explicitly 911 press (ex: talk show or cast appearance) and I am able to find the item(s), I will post! If there is a cast look that does not fall into this category that you are curious about feel free to make a request!

Thoughts on Masks 8x05 stills

When you consider that we haven't had a Halloween episode since season 5 for whatever real world reason but then put it in the context of the 911 verse, Buck's excitement over his corpse decoration becomes a lot more understandable. He's not just excited about a decoration, he's excited about working on Halloween with his family. You see, if we look at the seasons that didn't have a Halloween episode as our beloveds not being on shift that day, then they haven't worked a Halloween shift for three years.

Look at how he's standing, shoulder back, tall and so proud of himself. "Look at me, Dad! Look what I got for us, isn't it great?"

They're not so sure, because it looks very life (death?) like and knowing Buck, it might just be an actual real-life (death??) corpse.

Buck knows it's Bobby he has to convince. Chim's on board at once, he's intrigued and excited. Look at him playfully spraying fog at Bobby to make him laugh and agree! Hen's just all "Hmm, Buck's being Buck again, okay, it's just another day."

Eddie, meanwhile, is wondering why the corpse is dressed in HIS bachelor party costume...

"Buck, did you not only keep my destroyed, vomit encrusted suit but also wash it and then dress a dead body in it? MY suit?? What the hell were you thinking, man?!" Tell me that suit is not one hell of a lot cleaner than it was when we last saw Eddie wearing it....

Buck's just like, "Well, obviously I washed it. It stank! Who wants to smell that all shift?" "But smelling a desiccated corpse all shift is alright," Bobby dead pans with that delightful dry wit of his, and Buck launches into an explanation that no, actually, it doesn't, because once the flesh reaches a certain point of decay it begins to dry out and did you know.....

Ahh I cannot wait for this episode!!! Even more so when Oliver has told us he likes this episode and in my (admittedly shaky) memory, he's said that about episodes when Buck has been whumped in the past. So I'm hoping the spider bite or whatever it is goes a lot worse for him than we're expecting lol.

So true, it makes no sense for eddie to ask buck to give chris relationship advice if they know they're both bad at it - unless it's because buck is his co-parent ❤️ But I also worry that they're introducing them as a family unit again just like in 6x1 (and then we had couch theory, buck falling asleep on eddie's couch and all that, just to have it crumble later) only to keep the fans at bay and not because it means what we think it means?

my thing is that 911 doesn’t really do things based on fan service, despite the overwhelming opinion and belief of fandom. like. there have been a couple things but for the most part, I really don’t think we’re THAT important for them to just like. make a whole scene with plots, lighting, costumes just based on “placating” people. especially given that the christopher dating plot has had groundwork laid in season 6.

and it’s not the first time we’ve seen them like this. they’ve constantly been presented as a family unit - it makes sense for them to have scenes where they talk about things like this. i don't think they're going to just. take all of that away.

also re: couch theory - 911's storylines have infamously stretched numerous seasons which is why i hate saying that things just crumble. the couch being a metaphor in 6x01 didn't mean that it was going to live and die in season 6. there are a lot of things that just stretch multi-season, so if the couch symbolism is really A Thing, then it'll come back again.

and as for what we think it means...well, clowning is 90% of the fun, isn't it?

911 Spoilers Season 3: You’ve been warned. 😅 Buddie Rewatch

Episode 6-7

Episode 6: Monsters

Crow Rescue; No Buck or Lena. The 118 wearing sunglasses and being matchy matchy. Eddie points out how he’s never heard of a crow attack. Hen points out they are typically docile unless provoked.  

Something that is insignificant to the plot, but makes me strangely happy is something that was pointed out to me a while back and I remembered while watching this rescue. If you look very closely Eddie goes from wearing boots to slippers. It must have been a long shooting day.

Buck shows up for his first day back to work. He was expecting a friendly welcome, but got the cold shoulder from everyone in the firehouse. There is no welcome back banner like he had expected.

Side note, there are so many random firefighters in the 118 that we know nothing about. I wonder how they feel about the core group.

Hen surprises Buck with a small cake and welcomes Buck back. Buck admits to missing everyone and asks Hen how the fertility treatment is going. I really enjoy seeing Buck and Hen’s friendship, but this shows us how much Buck has missed because of the lawsuit.

Eddie walking into work, tired and bruised up.  Buck sees the cut/ bruise on Eddie’s elbow and asks him if he is okay. Eddie instantly annoyed gives him a bullshit response about playing with Christopher. Buck tries to have friendly banter; Eddie is having none of it and gives Buck attitude.

Buck is visibly confused but Chimney interjects by welcoming Buck back.  Eddie and Buck stand 2 feet apart as Bobby tries to do the morning brief.  The alarm goes off and Buck is told to stay behind and man the house.  Buck is standing there disappointed.

Bobby is instructing Buck on the rules and procedures of dealing with trick or treaters. Buck is confrontational and asks Bobby how much longer is he going to continue to punish him. Bobby responds back with when he finally develops patients.

Chim approaches Buck right after and repeats Booby’s sentiments. That he has to suck it up and be patient, and work a little harder. Eventually, Bobby will take him back.

Buck knows that Chim is right and tries to shift his attitude to be more eager and willing to work thru this situation, but there is no covering up Buc’s over all disappointment. Buck walks away semi defeated

Eddie approaches Chimney out of nowhere, as Chim is going to have a mental break down over a crow that no one else seems to see. Eddie looks at Chim likes he’s lost it and walks away.

Buck is bored handing out candy and getting sassed by a boy in a prisoner’s costume. This boy basically hit all of Buck’s insecurities. The 118 seems to be coming back from an emergency as this is happening.

Bobby hops out of the truck and tells Buck nice work. This moment can be seen as Bobby giving Buck a light jab, Not intended to be malicious but it could be taken as such.  

Buck calls out for Eddie and asks him if he wants to help out. Eddie wants nothing to do with Buck and basically tells him that he can handle it on his own, just how he wanted with the lawsuit.

Terrible Parents who treated their kids like prisoners; Eddie observing the area pissed off about the living conditions those poor kids where in. Every one is absolutely disgusted with those parents.

Hen taking a moment to talk to Bobby about Buck and how he needs to stop punishing him, by giving in or transferring him out.

Buck and Eddie walk towards each other. Eddie planning to just walk past him. Buck deciding that he’s not allowed to just do that and asks Eddie if this is how their relationship is going to be, if he’ll just continue to ignore him.

The camera changes and captures the moment they speak; they are visibly divided.

Eddie is not having it. Eddie doesn’t know what Buck wants from him. Buck vocalizes that he wants him to talk to him, “even if it is just to say you are still mad.”

Eddie was bout to walk away, but quickly turns back around to face Buck and say, “I’m not mad. I’m---” he pauses and takes a second to reevaluate what he’s going to say.

Eddie proceeds to tell him how his decision to pursue that lawsuit affected him what could that do to us.

Buck closes the gap between them and tries to justify why he did what he did and how he was feeling. Eddie arms cross, biting his lip, looking directly at Buck, listening. Buck admits to not wanting to hurt anyone while looking directly at Eddie.  Eddie quickly pointing out that Buck is too focused on himself and not the team.

Buck agrees with him and goes on to discuss how he was afraid of being left behind. Eddie seemingly understanding Bucks anger.  Buck asks for Eddie’s forgiveness. Eddie with zero hesitation forgives Buck. Buck seemly surprised and relieved by how quickly Eddie forgives him. There is this look in his eyes that I can only describe as desire, but not in a lustful way, it’s a wholesome look.

Let us take this moment to discuss how Eddie could not forgive Shannon, he struggled to forgive her, but easily forgave Buck.

Eddie warns him not to do it again and they give each other a hug. This hug is supposed to be big, but Eddie cuts the hug short with a slight groan. Buck is confused by Eddie pulling away. I was confused by Eddie pulling away, and then I realized he must be hurt from street fighting, because Eddie is readjusting himself.

Before Buck could process what was happening, Bobby approaches him, Eddie takes this moment to awkwardly get away.

Bobby wants to tell him something. He hesitates and instead sends him home early. Buck is not too happy about this.

Buck is at a gas station where he sees the man imbedded in a windshield. He goes into action and proceeds to rescue the woman and man who where obviously injured. He unknowingly cuts himself in the process and doesn’t realize it until a paramedic points it out to him.

Bobby goes to the hospital to see Buck. Buck is surprised to see Bobby. Bobby finally sees Buck is ready to be a firefighter. They go out for Breakfast. It feels like things will be getting back to normal.

Episode 7: Athena Begins

No Buddie. Amazing episode nonetheless. I teared up at the end of the episode. All the begins episodes are so emotional. I also think I tend to tear up the most in any Athena related emergencies.

I honestly think the bathrobe is just what they wear over set costumes, not some sex scene between her and E… and I would guess given the comments on the season 6 recap on 911s Insta (the were particularly bad there) that even if it was for the show… they will limit or change that. They are on a roll, I don’t see them wanting the bad comments and press

(apologies for how long this ask is! i just think you're very thoughtful and i love your posts and got carried away!)

i think a lot of the tension between people who really enjoyed 911 season 6 and people who were disappointed in it comes does to like. a literary difference. like the difference between doing a queer reading of a textual relationship and reading a textual relationship to be explicitly queer. i mean. i sort of feel like the emotional reaction that fills the 911 tag after a quote unquote “disappointing” episode is the reaction of someone expecting an explicitly queer text based on the queer readings that other people are doing, rather than based on the show itself.

that all sounds weirdly academic but like in episode one of season 6, a lot of people were very excited about the whole “couch theory.” but some people would see posts delving into this fairly clear extended metaphor and then, based on those posts, take the “couch theory” as a definite variable in some equation that “solves” the story and informs the audience what to expect. at the same time, others took the “couch theory” as an approach into the potential of queerness, with all the richness of interpretation that implies (from “this means they’re in love” to “this means buck is missing something basic, but this is still vague”), which leaves the story open instead of solved. it seems like this divide in the fans on this here website gets framed like “people who def think buddie is happening and are sick of people only watching the show for buddie” and “people who don’t think buddie is happening and are sick of people telling them to just watch the show” but the divide i feel like is more about how people are used to reading a text to begin with?

like i personally don’t think “buddie” is going to happen, for a few reasons, or that the writing is super solid (though i would never call it bad), but i also love the show and love all the theories and readings and approaches that take all the writing choices seriously because there is such a rich world of interpretation in any piece of storytelling, especially one with as many authors as a tv show (writers, showrunners, actors, set design, costume design, music, etc). and queering the text is both fun and easy to do given the other themes of this show (the flexibility required in “responding” to an emergency or anything at all, the barriers put up between you and others by the nature of mortality “we don’t go beyond the glass door,” self-actualization through the other, building and serving a community, self-actualization through like-minded people, and the nature of a vocation)(i mean all of those can be queer themes, while being a lot of other things, and don’t necessarily have to lend to a certain narrative, but they exist in the show and are more often than not grounded in character-driven stories instead of the wildly fantastic emergency-of-the-week plots that is the main draw of the show. so it's easy to pick up on them and easy to incorporate them into an interpretation. and thus easy, for some, to think something in a story is definitely or definitely not going to happen.) the long-form episode structure of the story also makes it easy to step inside smaller moments and ideas. maybe a motif will be picked up again, maybe it will mean something only inside that episode, maybe (like in a lot of tv shows) the story is just different to what it was 2 seasons ago, but either way: that's how a serialized format works. and expanding on those small ideas, brought back later or not, has always been a part of engaging with a story anyway.

to be fair to all 911 fans, fan engagement is normally a bit different than any other sort of engagement, and feelings tend to take over. there’s an extremely personal nature to how people “ship,” i’ve noticed, and i don’t think a lot fans get how invested they are until they’re already in there. which isn’t a problem normally if they don’t think there’s any hope at all of their ship going canon, but that’s just not the case with this ship because of how compelling things like "couch theory" become, when you're on tumblr reading about it all the time.

anyway, i've always enjoyed your posts and writing and i hope no one comes after you because of their feelings about your reading of the show once the season starts. it shouldn't be your problem and, like you, i also found myself thinking after watching last season "that was lovely" so i hope to see more of your thoughts for season 7 <3

secondly i totally agree with you — the nature of fandom is a space where any and all interpretations of a story are welcome and can be as real as you want them to be, whether they’re canon or not. and i do think any divisions are down to individual readings, because there are people who read the theories and “signs” and take them as definitive proof of something and get mad when that turns out to not be the case, and there are people who use those theories as exactly that — something that makes sense and COULD be true, but we won’t know for sure until we get more info. and neither of those are bad ways to interact with spec!! what’s bad is when the “proof” not being real is assumed that the writers and showrunner and actors are bad at their jobs and not doing it RIGHT, regardless of the fact that we don’t know what right is!!! we’re not writing the show!!!

i’ve been in fandom spaces since i was 13 — i have seen plenty of writers and showrunners run their own shows into the ground, so i understand the reluctance to have some faith. but at the end of the day, no amount of interpretations are gonna make sense until AFTER. whether it’s buddie or someone having a breakdown or whatever, we cannot connect the dots before we have the full picture. and i just think a lot of people would be happier if they remember that

And with his white sneakers that represent his journey to find love and family no less - in a scene with Eddie - what if I die!!! Whatever is going down at the cemetery is going to be Buck centred, not Eddie centred.

I think it's the calling people delusional or the attacks on people who put Eddie in Pride edits that are making the fandom nasty more than people speculating on one tag on tumblr. Additionally, most of the Buddie speculation that I've seen has used well-known film/TV concepts (communication through color, blocking, costuming, music, and set dressing is common to all visual media), not queer theory. Tim is definitely familiar with those concepts, he uses them to tell the stories on 911, like most showrunners. People are also using the kind of clues that were there for Buck, so whether Buddie happens or not, you can't say the clues for Buck were meaningful but the ones for Eddie and Buddie aren't. Talking to gay people or being accepting of gay people isn't the only kind of queer coding.

Additionally, Buddie fans aren't making up fake on-set relatives, nor are they shelling out hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars to hear an actor make up stories about their ship. Buddie fans aren't convinced that a couple who barely know each other are madly in love and endgame based on zero text evidence. Imo, the sudden devotion to a relationship that has barely any screen time is far more strange and concerning than strong feelings about a relationship that has existed for 6 seasons, especially because Buck and Eddie go through so many love interests so quickly, but always have each other.

Maybe Buddie fans are crazy. Or maybe they're reacting to a negative fan environment when Buddie has never seemed more likely. I guess we'll see.

seeing posts going "oh but they're obviously setting up bddie! just look at x, y, z! it's basic media analysis," and listen, some of you have gotta accept that tim minear et al are maybe not looking at this show through the same lens as your average tumblr user.

which isn't a bad thing, death of the author etc etc. but in this case the author is still very much alive and very much still writing the story. you can take whatever meaning you want from whatever that ends up being but there is a world of difference between "this could mean this" and "this will mean this".

I swear I know so many shows because 90% of the gifs I see on here lol

Show coming to mind right now is Euphoria since I seemed to see so many gifs of that from week to week when the season was airing.

I see a lot of 911/911: Lone Star as well, all I know is all the whumpy couples that keep getting almost hurt and traumatised

Other than that...I think I just see a lot of character gif sets but I think those are the only shows I have somewhat of an idea about the ongoing plot.

16. Show you despise but still watch?

When Riverdale first started, my friend and I had watched it half-ironically, half-enjoying it. We now still commit to watching it completely ironically now, since it has become so so ridiculous, and that's by the standards of other teen shows (I mean no offence to anybody who watches it and enjoys it, it's still so much fun, and I am always in love with the costume design).
