There’s a lot of talk of Tommy accidentally saying I love you but if he misses the confession it has to be a lot more subtle than that. I’m thinking something along the lines of a “in 20 years” or “when we’re old”, something that he could miss but would still be pretty obvious to buck. I remember mentions of Jee and buck baking at some point this season so maybe it’s “our kids” comment.

ok but what if a buddie secret relationship but it's secret from us the viewers.
i have no idea how they would do this other than we'd be getting typical buck'n'eddie moments and thinking they're even more insane than usual AND THEN AT SOME POINT SUDDENLY WE FIND OUT THAT NO, NO NO, NO NO NO, IT WASN'T TYPICAL AT ALL
i dunno, i just think it would be funny. and not even for just a single episode, i want them to really go to town with this. make it a multi-episode arc. i want us to be feral with the frustration of WHY ARE THEY NOT TOGETHER but then we get ACTUAL RESOLUTION

actually loosing my mind tryna figure out if Denny Wilson is going to die or not
SO
here's what we know
car accident happens Halloween night, which makes sense to be the last part of the episode and have the rest of the decorating and other shenanigans happen before since I doubt they'd be doing any extra celebration after the actual day
but then there's the matter of Bucks dislocated shoulder and him very much being there at the Denny call, which confuses the timeline a bit more (unless this episode is deserving of a medical inaccuracies tag and they just said fuck the normal recovery time bro is A OK after a couple days ... which ... is more likely than i care to admit)
because if they kept the recovery time accurate it'd be at minimum a few weeks, which means the pumpkin call and Denny call would have to happen before that, unless the episode takes place over a several week span, which it might, but they don't usually cover that much time per episode so I doubt it.
so on the one hand, if it does happen before then that means Denny is not dead because Mr. Eddie Diaz would not be sitting there giggling gayly at his manwhore malewife work husband real husband Buck if their friend's kid had just died
BUT
the dislocated shoulder is the start of the curse, it seems, which should be happening earlier on in the episode so there's time for the other curse manifestations and the buddie holding hands in the loft scene and however that plot gets wrapped up
but then ... why is Buck at the Denny call with a recently dislocated shoulder
honestly the theory that makes the most sense is that the Buck incident happens early on in the episode, I'm thinking either the episode starts with the firehouse scenes with the corpse cosplaying as bachelor party Eddie incident, and then the pumpkin call happens after and maybe that's when the buck incident happens, OR it starts with the pumpkin call and then firehouse stuff and some unknown call after for the Buck incident, and they just said fuck accuracy he's totally fine power of bisexuality and all that jazz, so the loft scene happens some time shortly after and the Denny call happens more towards the end of the episode
which
really doesn't help with the actual dilemma of whether or not Denny dies, because with that logic everything we've seen probably happens before that so we have no evidence to snack on of anything that happens after
so
in conclusion

9-1-1 6x18 Speculation.
I'm wondering if the firehouse and Buck's loft are in danger as technically they are Fox sets so ABC will need to buy them or build them and we know Buck's loft cost a lot to make.
I don't think Chris will be on the bridge I think the looks of horror are for Bobby falling.
I think Buck's new couch will be damaged through either Earthquake or Kameron's water breaking.
I think the series will end with all couples sitting at home with their families and Buck will be where he belongs on the Diaz's couch.
Though I hope for it I don't think we will get a pushed to breaking point, last minute love confession between our boys as there is simply not enough time to process it.

Okdokie so with the tizzy that one daddy issues joke has caused let’s get some shit in order. First off Buck starts the conversation not Tommy. Like you can not tell me that the smirk that man had was not him goading Tommy. He absolutely knew what he was doing. Aside from that I want to point something out. Buck is a grade A researcher right? So he most definitely did a deep dive on queer history when he discovered he was bisexual. You know what part of the research may have included? Kink. Additionally tho Buck is a grown ass man who has every right to do as he pleases. And for fucks sake, if he was uncomfortable with the comment he would have said so. Also I’m pro buck has been pegged before cause the man has no shame.
“So maybe be both have daddy issues” aka we can take turns but like me first.

okay what if buck gets it? what if he tells eddie something along the lines that living in a home where your own parents have not dealt with grief can have long lasting effects on the children? how living with the ghost of someone so loved but not grieved can harm kids even though you do their best to hide them from it?
the way his parents and maddie hid daniel from him and the effects that he has felt to this day? what if he says something about maybe chris not being there while eddie truly dealt with his grief will be the best thing in the long run? not just for chris, but for eddie as well?
dealing with your grief doesn’t have to be too late
it hurts now, it sucks but eddie has to deal with his grief
he needs to do things for himself first

Speculation here, of course.
But if Gerrard being there does turn into a thing, I actually want that to be when Tommy’s cool confidence drops for the first time in front of Evan.
Gerrard looks at him and Tommy is 9 years old again, looking desperately for approval and attention from his parents and being willfully ignored and pushed aside.
Gerrard’s gaze moves to Evan and Tommy is 21 and deployed. There are people dying, he’s lost part of the squad he was flying and he knows his job but he’s still scared. His CO is killed and he’s left just trying to keep the helicopter up and flying.
Gerrard says something, whether it be passive or scathing, and Tommy is 27 and trying desperately to fit into the old boys club, looking for the approval and acceptance he’s never fully gotten. He doesn’t care if he has to change anymore. He’s just tired of being alone, having nothing.
Then Evan’s hand wraps around his arm and he’s brought back to the present with an almost inaudible gasp, finding himself staring at the one authority figure he ever acted against, the man who he’d filed a complaint against. The one who helped him into one of the worst places in his life and left him there.
Evan says something to Gerrard and Tommy doesn’t even hear it, but then Evan’s casually walking them away and to a nearby set of chairs. And Tommy doesn’t know what he said, but he knows what just happened and he kisses Evan senseless for it, not caring about anyone else. No one’s looking, anyway.
Evan returns it just as fervently and Tommy thinks that maybe he’ll never be alone again.

Ok, 8x06 spec
Now that my heart rate has somewhat returned to normal, here's my thoughts on what's gonna go down in two weeks.
The way Oliver's spoken about whatever speedbump he and Tommy are about to encounter makes it sound like Buck sort of creates the crisis in his own mind. He talks about how Buck can get up in his own head a bit, and spiral about things. That is also very in character for Buck. Heck, he did that when Tommy was hanging out with Eddie.
This makes me think that whatever he finds out about Tommy's past, it's not going to be something that makes him think "Do I want to be in a relationship with this person," but more like "Does this person want to be in a relationship with ME?"
(Also, after 8x05 it's very clear what kind of person the show is writing Tommy to be, so I doubt they'd have some revelation come out that reflects poorly on him)
Given we've been told that Buck works this out with the help of Maddie and Josh, this makes me think that whatever he learns about Tommy has to do with his past relationships, or his identity as a gay man. Suggestions have been made that they run into an ex of Tommy's, who makes Buck feel inadequate. Or that Tommy HAS no exes, and Buck is his first serious relationship, which makes Buck feel the pressure of being that first one. I particularly liked a suggestion that Tommy had a long term relationship end not too long ago, not by his choice, and Buck worries he's a rebound or a consolation prize.
The common thread here is that he learns something about Tommy's past that is not in and of itself bad, but it sends Buck on a doomscroll in his brain. That's very Buck, and something he'd need to be talked off the ledge about, and Maddie's his go-to person for that - the addition of Josh implies the need for a gay man to weigh in.
I've had the thought that it might be connected to Buck's evolving concept of his own sexuality, but it's hard to imagine something he could learn about Tommy that would spur that kind of introspection, I mean, he already knows that he was closeted until fairly late in life. Not ruling that out, though.
The bottom line is that I don't think this is going to be a revelation that's going to have Tommy crying mea culpa and Buck deciding whether or not to forgive or overlook some troubling transgression. That feels out of step with how they're approaching this. I think it's much more likely that it's something Buck turns into an issue inside his head, and through them talking about it, they'll be able to reach a new level of commitment to each other.
