The office had some snacks for Diwali and the kaju katli is something I’ve been wanting to try, so I had a small piece of it. Now I know what it tastes like and it was great but it will assist me from not needing to taste it again.

I have finally named all of the spaceships in Black Dog Star Vol1, I shall present them to you now:
Nu Henan - A FLEET starship class (light drive equipped) carrier ship
NSS Paper Tiger - A Novan (pirate) starship class carrier ship that was catastrophically destroyed moments before the beginning of Chapter 1
Diamonds - A civilian courier/cargo vessel that was inexplicably on board the Paper Tiger and is the key to unraveling the mystery of what destroyed it
Seraphim - An F/A-82C Shrike ionfighter, and the only ionfighter that survived the destruction of the Paper Tiger by not being on board at the time
Rockbiter & Bonsai- Two small reconnaissance ships that survived the destruction of the Paper Tiger, also by not being on board
Stay In School - A houseboat belonging to an unlicensed salvager, first to arrive on the scene of the Paper Tiger's destruction, found trying to strip Diamonds for parts
Bruce & Hilda - A paired houseboat belonging to a licensed forensic salvage specialist; Hilda has a warp drive and functions as a hub for Bruce to spin around for centripetal gravity, Bruce can also detach and is good at maneuvering in tight spaces; they're named after a fictional couple from a popular adventure series
Wolfshead (originally named Heart of Gold) - A brothel ship impounded by FLEET, stolen by the Rockbiter crew
As You Wish - A civilian yacht stolen by raiders, and then stolen from the raiders (fun fact: pirates and raiders hate each other)
Xinglong City - Technically a starship, but it's in semi-permanent stellar orbit, so it's functionally a space station
NSS Little Sister - A Novan starship carrier that answers the Rockbiter crew's call for aid (also mentioned: NSS Tin God)

I’ve never tried to make yogurt before. Do you have a tutorial you could recommend?
yeah!! the thing about yogurt is that since its really simple to make, there are all kinds of different variations that you can use and still end up with a really good result, so there are about 100000 different yogurt tutorials online LMAO but the gist for all of them is pretty much the same! its basically:
-Heat up some milk to around 180F/82C (i like to do this in the microwave because its so much easier than stovetop). this kills all the bad bacteria in the milk so it doesnt spoil
-Let the milk cool to around 110F/43C
-Add some existing plain yogurt to the warm milk. Make sure that whatever you use says "contains live and active cultures". I like using chobani!
-Incubate the milk for 6-12 hours - methods vary. I usually just put a lid on the bowl and wrap it in towels then stick it in the oven with the oven light on. Usually the heat from the light will keep it around the right temp.
then you have yogurt!!! there are tons of factors that can affect the final product tho, stuff like the fat content of the milk (i use whole milk and usually add some heavy cream to it cus i fucking love thick yogurt), the length of time you let the milk simmer, the amount of yogurt you add to the milk, the TYPE of yogurt you add, the amount of time it incubates, etc etc etc. It's really a matter of trying out different variations and seeing what turns out well!
Also if you want to turn it into greek yogurt, just strain it through folded-over cheesecloth or like, a towel or something. The liquidy part (the whey) will strain out of it and give you a really thick yogurt. Thats my fav method!

Today mark the 100th anniversary of when the Royal Canadian Air Force was form! Though the history started in WW1 technicality, Canada didn't really have it own air force! It did start up in 1920 as the Canadian Air force but it wouldn't be known as the Royal Canadian Air Force till today, April 1st 1924! I think it insane how much has change 100 years ago!
Anyway I wanted to add more plane but sadly I was very busy in March and didn't have to time to add a lot of planes from different point in history but I'm proud of the ones did them being, de Havilland DH.82C Tiger Moth,Supermarine Spitfire, CT-114 Tutor, CT-156 Harvard II! Though I experiment with a different style with this!

Hello everyone, welcome to another Tasty Tuesday!
Today I decided we should try out some candied fruit. It's pretty easy to make, it's delicious and has a nice chewy texture, and you can use any fruit you want!
I've got two options for you:
Option 1: Dried Fruit
When most people think of candied fruit, they think of one of two things - either candied/caramel apples, or tanghulu. That's not the route that we're going today (but you should look into both because they're also very yummy!)
Today we're talking about dried fruits!
Start by choosing your fruits. You want fruit that is firm and mature - try to avoid anything bruised or overripe/soft, and if your fruit isn't quite ripe yet, give it a little while longer to ripen.
Once you've picked out your fruits, it's time to peel and slice. (Note: most fruits don't have to be peeled for this. If you normally eat the skin/peel, you're good to leave it on!) To keep your fruit from browning or losing color during the drying process, soak your slices in either lemon juice (full strength or diluted with equal parts juice and water) or ascorbic acid (8 tsp or 36g per quart/liter of water) for 5-10 minutes.
I recommend slicing your fruit no bigger than 1/2 an inch, or about 2cm.
If you don't have a dehydrator, pre-heat your oven to 200F (93C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay out your fruit slices. Put the fruit into the oven for 4-8 hours (this is going to vary depending on the starting water content for your fruit. You'll have to check on the fruit at regular intervals to see how it's doing).
If you have a dehydrator, you can put the fruit on mesh sheets at 135F (53C) for 8-12 hours.
You'll know when the fruit is done when it looks shriveled and has a chewy texture.
At this point, you can gather it all up to store in an airtight container, OR you can drop the dried slices into a 1 gallon zip top bag with sugar, and shake to coat. Doing this step while they're still warm means you don't have to add additional moisture, and you get that nice grainy texture (I love that texture!)
As long as your fruit was fully dehydrated, you can store it at room temperature for about a year. If you want to keep it longer than that, I'd recommend other preservation methods like jams/jellies and canning.
Option 2: Fruit Leather
Fruit leather is a lot like the previous method, but with some extra steps and ingredients.
First step, once again, is to pick your fruits. This time if your fruit is a little overripe, that's okay.
Wash your chosen fruit, then peel and remove the pits/cores. While the dried fruits above could keep their skins, you should really peel them for fruit leather. Chop your fruit into chunks.
In a large saucepan, add 1/2 cup of water for every 4 cups of chopped fruit. Bring the fruit to a simmer, then cover and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Uncover the pan and use a potato masher or a wire whisk to mash the fruit in the pan.
At this point, you can decide what additions you want. If you chose a lot of very tart fruit, you might want to add sugar. You can do this 1 tablespoon at a time until you're happy with the sweetness.
If the flavor seems a little muted or bland, try adding lemon juice 1 teaspoon at a time to brighten up the flavor.
You might also want to add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, or allspice.
Continue to simmer your mix until any added sugar has dissolved and the puree has thickened, another 5-10 minutes.
In a blender or food processor, puree the fruit mix until it is completely smooth. You can check the flavor again at this step and make any additions, using the blender/processor to thoroughly mix them in.
If you have a dehydrator, you can pour the puree into your trays lined with parchment paper and dry them on the machine's fruit setting.
If you don't have a dehydrator, preheat your oven to 180F (82C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the puree about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick (1/2 to 1 cm) over the pan. Place in the oven for 8-12 hours, until the leather is no longer sticky to the touch.
Use a pizza/rotary cutter or kitchen shears to divide the leather into long strips, then roll it up and store in an air-tight container (to make it easy, make sure that you cut through the parchment paper as well and roll the leather on that. It'll be super easy to unroll later!)
Store your fruit leather at room temperature for 1 month, in the fridge for 6 months, or in the freezer for 1 year.
I hope you enjoyed, and let me know if you try these recipes/ideas!

Thoughts: What a day. It felt like I ate a lot today but everything was in a reasonable amount. Also increasing my protein by about 20g and I don’t feel so hungry in between meals. I finally bought some protein powder again. I bought the vegan one. So much more cheaper. And I tried out my weetbix breakfast and omg it’s soooo damn good. So filling and packed with so much protein it’s crazy. Focusing on volumising while sticking to my c@lorie budget. Also the pre-workout snack was something I saw on TikTok - apparently it helps to activate the things that help you be more energetic and burn fat while working out. 🤞

3 The Finnish Worldview
In Finland, The dominant worldview is from a Christian, specifically Lutheran, lens. 78.58% of Finland is Christian, with the majority of that christianity coming from a Lutheran standpoint (ARDA). Lutheranism states that the bible is the word of God, with God coming in three separate forms, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As for sins, everybody is a sinner, and you can only  be redeemed through the grace of God, not by merit or by man. That means that the majority of Finland sees an afterlife, in either heaven or hell, when they die (Celebration Lutheran Church). However, because they can be saved by God’s grace, when they show their belief, they make it to heaven.
This translates to Finnish culture being very stoic and humble. Because Lutheranism shows humans as tempted by the devil, and sinners, many Finnish people internalize that and are very stoic, and very humble about their worldly works. A common stereotype of Finns is the absence of any emotion, and they very rarely show any excitement. From a personal standpoint, I find that to be very true, and many members of my extended family are very calm and stoic.
In America, there is a sect of Finnish Lutheranism called Laestadian Lutheranism. This is a division off of the main Lutheran church, and was started by a man named Lars Laestadian. He was a preacher in the Finnish Lutheran church, and he created a new book, seen to be an offset of the bible. His word and religion were spread throughout Finland and Sweden, as well as parts of Russia, by reindeer herders, who were known to traverse the lands. When these herders would set up their camps, typically only for a week or so, they would share their religion with the people living there.  This sect is very cliquish, and only a small group of people can get into heaven.
This is the church that is associated with my extended family. I have a unique perspective on it, because my dad’s side of the family are in this church, while my mom’s side has been on the outskirts of this church for the 3 generations they have been in America. Laestadians, as they are called, rarely interact with people outside of their church group because they condemn those people when they don’t confess their sins. Laestadians have a very close bond with each other, and they have much more traditional Finnish beliefs. Laestadians have little groups all throughout the northern US, but the biggest ones stateside are in Minnesota. Minnesota was the main immigrating state for Finns after world war 2, when Finland had a huge wave of citizens moving to the USA.
Although Finland is mostly Christian, it is very tolerant of other religions. Finns have an open mind about many religions, and they, by and large, don’t want religion interfering with politics. Finland is part of Scandinavia, which has very deep roots in christianity, but also has deep ties to paganism. Paganism is a big part of Finnish culture, with gnomes being a huge part of many Finnish children’s stories and imaginations.
