Day 30: 52,155 words! Finished my first NaNo! Still plenty to go to finish the story, but it's a good start on getting the words down, and more than I had written a month ago! I'll aim to finish it in the next couple of months - should be less than 50,000 words, at least - and try and get a draft I'm willing to show people by next year.

Last Line: She had few answers, but made sure they would be ready for whatever the dawn may bring.

Winner Circle Babyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Just finished NaNoWriMo!!!!!!!!!!! Finished much earlier than I did last year. Last year I finished at 3AM and this year I finished around 10:30PM so I finished a full 4.5 hours before last year. The fic's not done but I'm not touching it for a good minute. I have other things to write, other hobbies to pursue, I can play solitaire again!! I am coming back from the dead and I am now available again.

To everyone else who participated in NaNoWriMo, whether you already won, are going to win tomorrow, or didn't finish, I hope you had fun.

And I'm totally buying Scrivener at some point.

NaNoWri- Oh?

Between words from the original short story this novel was based on and all my new content over the past nine days, I squeaked past the finish line on November 9, 2023. But as the good saying goes-

Not a lot happened in tonight's chapters. Mostly editing stuff and filler, where my teenage protagonist and his four year old sister finally get to have supportive adults. There's some backstory on the group that took them in. Now, Joran is making a second attempt to get his friend Teosur back. He got to his house pretty easily- but with 10000 words or so remaining before I can comfortably draw the curtain, there's still a lot left to do.

I think nine days is my new record for NaNo. But I'm not inputting it into the website. As I said in a past post, I'll chuck in the final wordcount on the website and "win" the prize for the completed draft. But in terms of writing 50000 words? I just did that.

That's right! 50,000 words baby! That's the most I've written of anything ever!

To all those of you who participated in nanowrimo, no matter how much you wrote, congrats on working on your story! This has been super fun!

50,000 words to write and I have the vague shape of an idea and some quick scenes that I wrote years ago and dug out as inspiration, this'll be fine

One month until nanowrimo and I don't have a plan at all yet

Do you ever think about how important and significant Alex's action to give his key to Henry was?

Alex had brought the key with him everywhere throughout his life since he got it.

Then, the first moment he's quietly alone with Henry, Alex gets to explain what it means to him: it's the key to his family's house in Austin.

But it means much more to him: it's from the times when his family was still all together (book), it's his childhood, his time growing up in Texas, it's his mixed blood, and the quiet life he left behind to follow his mother in something bigger than him.

That key is his comfort and reminder of what he was and the memories he will treasure forever.

Alex doesn't tell all of this to Henry, but Mr. HRH Prince Dickhead knows there's more about it underneath, just like how he had always known Alex wasn't just a peasant boy.

Alex brings his keychain everywhere and Henry is always there to admire it.

The key to Henry means something completely different: it's the reminder of his unusual life, the fact that he can't have such normal things as possessing a simple key, it represents all the things he can only admire from afar but he'll never be able to posses.

And then Alex breaks the wall that Henry thought would suffocate him forever, that seemed impossible to destroy.

Alex starts to remove the key when he's in the most intimate moments with Henry. He decides to leave the thoughts and worries related to his family for another time. He decides to be fully Henry's, even during just brief rendezvous.

And Henry takes everything he can, as far as he can. Till the moment, he's sure will come, when the magic breaks and the key will return to be something to admire and desire from afar, but never possess.

But Alex isn't just a peasant boy.

He hands over his childhood, his memories and his whole being to Henry, with just a simple gesture. Alex says "Henry, I'm yours." by giving him the object of his desires, by breaking the illusion that Henry can't be a normal boy, simply owning the key of someone's heart.

And Henry is reluctant to accept it, cause he knows (just like he had always known that Alex wasn't just a peasant boy) that the key means so much to him. But Henry accepts, cause he wants to believe that the wall between them can break, Alex made him believe it. And he grips and holds onto that hope like his life depends on it, cause it does.

Alex is the only key to his freedom.

10 years ago I used to be able to happily browse a character or series tag on here in peace & find good fanart & posts. now it is literally nothing but cringe disgusting heterosexual character x reader smut imagines. often they're just generic sex scenarios that are not at all specific to the character too & then the person tags a billion diff characters & goes "imagine your fave doing this to you hehe<3" shut the fuck up oh my god I hate yumejoshi scum so much they truly are a scourge & the enemy of fujoshi everywhere

The Pokemon tried to hide their excitement at seeing a human- it seemed like it had been ages now. The fragrant smell of the food in front of them wafted past, inviting the disguised Mewtwo to take a bite.

The Pokemon snapped up a few of the berries. The taste was unbelievable- not like anything the scientists had ever offered them.

“These. Are amazing! Did they all grow here? This such a beautiful island… I’ll probably keep saying it, but… thank you again for all of your help.”

The Mewtwo gingerly took a few more pieces of the fruit before speaking again.

“You must be the trainer everyone has mentioned. What can I call you? I was telling the others my name is more of a hodge podge of letters and numbers… it’s rather complicated I suppose… but if you’re interested, I’ll tell you my story as well!”
